Upon those words, Gu Changge started speaking, while the crowd concentrated on him, fearing they would miss out a single word.

“Frankly, this has been confusing me for quite some time. Back when I fought Ye Ling, no matter what happened, he was always confident, fearless despite the harm I inflicted upon him… So in the end…”

As he was speaking, he revealed a helpless, guilty expression. ” Since I was also badly injured at the time, I could only watch as he escaped instead of going after him…”

Hearing that, young prodigies widened their eyes in stupefaction as their mind instantaneously went blank. Truthfully, they did not expect Gu Changge to disclose such truth so openly. All of a sudden, they felt chills all over their body the instant they understood his insinuation.

“So Ye Ling is not working alone, and that was why he was fearless,” a young prodigy stuttered with bitterness in his mouth. As he was stammering, he could feel numbness on the top of his head and his skull being cracked open by the tremble.

In that instant, even Ye Langtian grew anxious. [One Successor of Demonic Arts is already terrifying enough and now there are people backing him up? An organisation? How dreadfully terrifying!]

At that moment, none of the listeners doubted Gu Changge’s words.

“Indeed, it won’t be easy to deal with the Successor of Demonic Arts. Even a salamander can regenerate its heart.” Wang Zijin nodded. To her, such a catastrophic being was definitely not to be dealt with with ease. After all, there was no way the Successor of Demonic Arts could wreak so much havoc without any backups.

“If only I made it to him back then, he couldn’t have been this intolerable…” Immense remorse was on Gu Changge’s face when he said that.

“Don’t blame yourself, Brother Gu. He, too, was severely injured back then. If his supporters were to show up, it would only be dire for you.” Immediately, the crowd started comforting him from his guilt and assuring that he was not the problem.

“If Ye Ling didn’t have any support, he wouldn’t have been so relaxed, running away so effortlessly without leaving any trace. I should have known better…” Ye Langtian heaved a long sigh.

At once, many young prodigies started to feel uneasy, predicting something chaotic was about to happen soon.

Seeing that, Gu Changge revealed a momentary grin, but none managed to notice it. Although he had yet to find his scapegoat, that didn’t stop him from setting his plans up.

At the same time, high up in the sky above Skyward Ancient City in Boundless Heaven, a figure covered in endless mysterious mist summoned became a divine rainbow and speedily passed by. Swiftly, the figure landed on a street in Skyward Ancient City, but no cultivator nor living being saw her as if they were blind.

That individual was travelling throughout Skyward Ancient City with a scowl, paying attention to movements and lingering auras. Unfortunately, it had been too long, so she failed to discover anything.

“According to the rumours, Gu Changge fought the Successor of Demonic Arts in the Celestial Ancient Continent, after which, the latter ultimately lost and fled. Facing the Successor of Demonic Arts without falling goes to show how powerful and crafty he is. Gu Changge truly befits the title of Avatar of a True Immortal. Nevertheless, judging by his alleged cultivation level, is he really that strong? Enough to gravely injure the Successor of Demonic Arts?”

“Besides, Bai Lie, the Young Master of the White Tiger Clan, was the first one to fall. He was also the fiance of Yin Mei, the Gifted Lady of the Nine-Tailed Fox Clan, and a blood brother of Ye Ling. According to Bai Lie’s followers, on that night, Yin Mei helped him open his eyes towards Ye Ling’s true colour, after which he went for Ye Ling, only to get himself killed. In the end, Yin Mei survived through everything in the Celestial Ancient Continent because Ye Ling chose not to kill her. Was he into her, perhaps sexually?”

The figure muttered to herself. After leaving Mortal Palace, she began scouring for any information regarding the Successor of Demonic Arts on her way. That mysterious person was the other Successor of Mortal Palace, also known as its true Successor, Jiang Chuchu.

In her eyes, there were runes resembling ancient glyphs that could identify the truth of any trace. As long as there was any lingering trace, she could track it down to its source.

Alas, she failed to discover anything with that secret technique of hers. Her brows were extremely tense, and there was not a tinge of emotion on her calm face.

“This is all too smooth, as if it was going along everyone’s expectation. There’s not even one subtle flaw. No truth in the world is ever as organised like this, so neatly intersecting and completely reasonable. After all, there are only two things in the world that are unfathomable: one’s heart and accidents.”

“Everything is too smooth, as though it was a tidily arranged, unfinished puzzle made by somebody without its last piece, the people. While Ye Ling may seem initiative in these matters, he has always been the passive, manipulated piece; for some reason, Yin Mei seems to be an indispensable piece as well,” Jiang Chuchu muttered.

“But she’s not the problem, but Gu Changge, on the other hand, is most likely it. I can only pray that my thoughts and guesses are false…”

Thinking that, Jiang Chuchu delicately moved and swiftly sped into the sky towards the Ancient Gu Family’s territory. As the Successor of Mortal Palace, she was aware that if Gu Changge was indeed the cause, the magnitude of the subsequent problems would be absolutely terrifying, and even she was afraid of concluding the truth.

Essentially, on her journey, she was informed of Gu Changge’s terror. Indeed, Mortal Palace had a unique position in the Beyond, but compared to the enormous, relentless force like the Immortal Gu Family, they were not even worth mentioning. Unless, she had complete evidence to prove to factions and forces that Gu Changge was precisely the issue, and had possessed an unrepealable connection to the Successor of Demonic Arts.

After all, all those words she mumbled to herself were merely personal opinions and inferences, which she hoped were wrong. She wished that she could eventually clear Gu Changge’s name and deny all allegations of him being the Successor of Demonic Arts. Otherwise, she could only bring matters into her own hands while enduring the monumental pressure in order to restore peace and justice to the world.

“You’ve been messing up all the time, Chu Fan. What’s wrong with you? How can you forget which spirit grass you’re supposed to feed Baibai? You’ve been feeding since forever?”

At that moment, in the sky a distance away from the territory of the Immortal Gu Family, nine white pegasi were dragging a carriage, creating loud claps along the way. The carriage was followed by a troop of knights riding on wild beasts.

At the same time, a maid was seen rebuking a snowy-faced, visibly embarrassed young man.

“Alright, alright, Sister Qiaoer. It won’t happen again,” the young man hastily nodded and replied with frustration, exasperation and all sorts of negative emotions jumbled up in his heart.

Typically, he was a highly respected individual as he was the direct heir of Sky Emperor Ying himself. Given his position, he was gratified by many, let alone a puny maid, and even the ancestors of the Ancient Royal Family had to bow and refrain from making unimportant noise before him.

However, today, he found himself being pressured by a mere maid.

Thus, he was deeply angered and frustrated, depressed even, as he couldn’t even defend himself nor could he talk back for once. After his soul was unexpectedly swapped, he could hardly adaptto anything. Except for his memories, everything else was different.

[Me? Feeding these horses? Why in the ploughing world would I ever feed a horse? Hell, I don’t even know whose lowly job it is when Father conquered all the races and lands! Even my hunting ride was a wild beast of the purest blood? Feeding horses? The absurdity!] He had the urge to scream at the top of his lungs.

Before his soul was switched, even the Ancestors of the Nine-Tailed Fox Clan wouldn’t dare to offend him, and now, he was tasked with feeding the pegasi of the clan’s Gifted Lady. He was unable to accept the preposterously drastic degradation.

[I don’t even have the Godly Spirit Weapon Father personally crafted for me now! What difference is there between me and a good-for-nothing!?] Chu Fan felt immensely hopeless.

Although he still remembered the secret techniques and spells he learned, those abilities strictly required a specific bloodline and physique. In other words, other than being able to feed pegasi, he was basically useless.

“No, wait. I still have a chance. I just have to contact those in Sky Emperor Mountain to prove my identity and expose that fake!” Ferocity flashed across Chu Fan’s eyes. He was no one to be trifled with. Moreover, he concluded that an impersonator was at fault for the misfortune that happened to him. Otherwise, no one would ever violate him for no good reason.

Meanwhile, Yin Mei in a red garment was sitting in the carriage, seeming somewhat concerned. She felt rather helpless listening to the maid behind her carriage reprimanding her pegasus feeder. Nonetheless, for some reason, the pegasus feeder, who had always been intelligent, suddenly failed so miserably at his job and even said things that made no sense.

If it weren’t for the lengthy journey and fearing that her pegasi might get hungry, she wouldn’t have brought the pegasus feeder along. Back then, she found him in a pitiful state and decided to take him in out of sympathy. Furthermore, worried that he might get scorned, she assigned him as her pegasus feeder, and even taught him a few basic cultivation techniques.

All these years, despite the familiarity, Yin Mei honestly failed to remember his name, knowing only the latter half of it. However, she didn’t do it out of heartlessness, but some things were just too trivial to take note of. Back then, she was feigning sympathy out of whim, and she would have done the same were it someone else.

[We will reach the territory of the Immortal Gu Family once we traverse through the mountain range. Then, I’ll finally get to meet Master!] Yin Mei smiled with her eyes with excitement and joy all over her face. She even began wagging all nine of her white puffy tails.

“Chu Fan, you’ve mixed up Baibai’s spirit grass again! Have you been daydreaming so much that you can’t tell reality and fantasy apart? And what are you mumbling, talking about Sky Emperor Mountain. Did you get your head kicked by an ass? Should Sky Emperor Mountain even be coming from that mouth of yours?” Suddenly, the maid’s scolding voice was heard again, and Yin Mei couldn’t help but smile as she felt entertained by the exchange after overhearing how her horse feeder dreamt that he was the son of the almighty Sky Emperor Ying.

“Perhaps Master could use a funny little story…” Yin Mei revealed a beaming smile, finding nothing strange about it. After all, to the Ancient Immortal Clans, Sky Emperor Mountain indeed held a significant, distinctive meaning.

Regardless, all from any Ancient Immortal Clans knew the existence of Sky Emperor Ying, and the ‘Sky Emperor’ alone was enough to indicate his peerless might. There were even rumours claiming that Sky Emperor Ying managed to subdue numerous Supreme Beings during the ancient times, and after his enlightenment thousands of years later, he entered the Celestial Path with his unrivalled strength.

“Brother, I heard you’re venturing into the outside world.”

While innumerable factions were hurrying over to the Immortal Gu Family’s banquet, in the sky above Sky Emperor Mountain, there was a gargantuan palace concealed in endless ambiguous mists. Heavenly light and godly beams as well as different kinds of otherworldly auras intertwined, as though the palace was an ancient paradise with the angelic sounds echoing everywhere.

Seeming extraordinary, A dashing young man in white, surrounded by celestial energy and godly gleams from the Power of Principles, with heavenly rings around him as though he was covered in all forces of the universe, was sitting in the palace. As if he was the core of the world, each breath of his was of utmost might and nobility.

At that moment, the one speaking was a silver-haired, impeccably stunning young woman. Blessed with a glamorous figure and silky hair, she, donning a five-coloured heavenly robe, had eyes glowing with silver glows. Subtle wafts of World Principles could be seen whirling around her. Even the ornaments she was wearing were magic weapons of immeasurable power, and one of them was a Divine Chain of Order.

Be it her bloodline, Talents, or positions, she was in no way inferior to the dashing young man before her. And that was precisely because they were siblings as well as offsprings of Sky Emperor Ying himself. They had been locking themselves in the palace till this day, and had never shown themselves in the outside world.

Today, hearing how her brother decided to go out into the outside world out of nowhere, the silver-haired girl was shocked and felt compelled to question the validity of the rumour. According to their father’s will, it was not the time for them to appear in the outside world just yet.

Although their cultivation level was unquestionably higher than that of countless young prodigies nowadays, that didn’t mean they should be showing themselves to the world. And according to their father’s prediction, they should be at least close to enlightenment before they eventually venture into the outside world.

Therefore, it might be too soon for them to appear given their invaluable position as the Succesor of the Sky Emperor, so their appearance would only cause great disturbances across the world, whereby even the Ancient Immortal Clans wouldn’t be able to sit still.

“Do you have an issue with that, Sister?” Hearing that, Ying Shuang opened his eyes and calmly asked.

There was not a trace of emotion found on his face, but that was nothing strange to his sister, Ying Yu.

Upon some time of observation and studying, he mastered the personality and numberless habits of the host, so he wouldn’t let such insignificant details get him into trouble. Therefore, adapting to this identity was nothing difficult.

Nevertheless, since he did not possess the previous memories of the host, he would need to be more cautious of his actions and words. Despite having never seen a prince, he at least knew how one would behave, so right now, all he had to do was continue the facade. Essentially, none would dare to question his identity nor be able to recognise that he was not the real Ying Shuang.

Hence, it was a trial of bravery for him.

Besides, since the Godly Spirit Weapon the Sky Emperor Ying personally crafted for his son showed no oddness, there was nothing to be worried about as long as he persisted with his pretence.

As a matter of fact, Prince Ying was the person he had been mumbling about every single day, and he was jealous of him to the point of insanity. Still, he could never have imagined that he would one day become Prince Ying himself.

With those thoughts in mind, Ying Shuang’s heart was overcome with excitement and eagerness. From now on, he was Prince Ying, Ying Shuang himself, who controlled the entire Sky Emperor Mountain and the future owner of it. Even the Ancient Immortal Clans would have to kneel before him.

Furthermore, he now possessed the alarming Talents and physique of Prince Ying, including the precious blood as well as his undefeatable flesh and magic prowess enhanced with celestial materials. Therefore, he was confident that he would be invincible once he went out into the outside world, and even Gu Changge, the so-called number one of the younger generation, was simply another one beneath him.

“Not an issue. Since that is your decision, I shall respect it naturally.” Although Ying Yu was visibly baffled, since his brother did not bother to explain himself, she thought it was best not to pursue the matter.

Moreover, having been waiting for such a long time in Sky Emperor Palace, she, too, was longing to venture into the outside world instead of living her current tedious life of cultivation. As a matter of fact, she once told Ying Shuang about her intention to leave Sky Emperor Palace, only to be fiercely rebuked by him, but now that he voluntarily claimed that he wished to leave, she believed that his idea came with a purpose.

[Back when I was a lowly horse feeder, you were all the hues of a rainbow and I was a drop of piss in the mud, separated by the limitless sky, destined to be apart for eternity. But now, in the blink of an eye, I have become the person most treasured by the Ancient Immortal Clans!] After Ying Yu left the room, thrill and determination surged in Yu Shuang’s eyes as he spoke in his mind.

Regardless, he could never forget who it was that lent him a hand when he was starving to death; who it was that saved him from the abyssal darkness; who it was that guided him to the path of cultivation.

[Lady Yin Mei, I understand what you have done wasn’t solely out of sympathy. Otherwise, you wouldn’t have stood up for me when I was so atrociously scorned. To you, I am no ordinary servant, but a special one…]

In that instant, countless memories flashed across his eyes. Every time he finished feeding Baibai, his heart would be filled with joy as he keenly awaited her saviour to go see her pegasus and bless him with a vivid smile.

[Cursed was my identity that forbade you from feigning intimacy, but I understand, I relate to your agony. But worry no longer, for I will stand before you as a man would. Yin Mei, I shall be your sword and shield if you dream to restore the Nine-Tailed Fox Clan.] In his eyes, there was nothing but deluded infatuation, as if he would do anything for Yin Mei. If Gu Changge was here, he could finally see for himself how an obsequious moron looked like.

Knowing where Yin Mei was headed, Ying Shuang, despite being a servant, understood that it was Gu Changge who rescued her from the insufferable Successor of Demonic Arts.

Since it was the birthday of Gu Changge’s mother, a banquet was held and all parties were invited. Therefore, in order to repay the debt, Yin Mei would undoubtedly attend the birthday banquet.

With that, a huge turmoil erupted in Sky Emperor Mountain as the many ancient figures left behind by Sky Emperor Ying were left absolutely startled and dumbfounded.  They were all shocked by Prince Ying’s bold declaration of his desire to venture into the outside world, and that no advice or objection could convince him otherwise.

  1. Wait a sec. He never saw the prince nor has any fresh memories of anyone who saw the prince? What the hell was he observing and studying? CCTV footage in his bedchambers?

    1. Good point. If he has no memories of the original body, known none of the cultivation techniques, and has no idea what personality to assume, how can he blend in?
Beyond that, he was just a stable boy, so where does all this experience in acting come from?
