The dry desert stretched beyond the horizon, and skeletons lying far away rustled as a breeze blew against them.

The area was extremely close to the Boundary Marker Sea, and in fact, one could feel ominous and thunderous disturbances of the battle from that direction.

Gu Changge was watching the scene before his eyes with great interest on a mountain peak. Very quickly, the Chaos Purple Scripture glowed, and a vague silhouette flashed across the Scripture before it returned to its lifeless state.

“Who was that Elder?” Gu Xianer asked as she fixed her gaze on the Scripture in Gu Changge’s hands.

“That was the man who had saved both of your grandfathers back then,” answered Gu Changge plainly as he kept the Scripture away, lest Gu Xianer kept goggling at it.

“The person who had saved my grandfathers? You mean the Elder behind Li Xiu? So it’s him, huh?” While enlightened by the revelation, Gu Xianer was more bewildered by the treasure in her cousin’s hands.

[How is it able to find the Elder? Can it be based on karma and destiny? Like what he said earlier?Since he had made some kind of connection with Li Xiu, he can now use this thing to track the War Immortal down!?]

“So, this is why you’re not worried that you can’t locate the War Immortal, huh?” As much as she wanted to get a glimpse of the Chaos Purple Scripture, knowing Gu Changge, he would certainly refuse her request. Naturally, it made her think that this cousin of hers was being very petty. [To think he doesn’t trust me at all. Am I the kind of person who’d steal a treasure from your hands!?]

“Let’s go find that guy’s hideout. We’d also deal with Li Xiu’s issue at the same time, or the Shen Family will suffer his retribution sooner or later.” Gu Changge stood up after taking a glance at Gu Xianer, then transformed into a divine rainbow and left the peak as many cultivators followed right behind.

“You actually care if the Shen Family will suffer retribution!?” Gu Xianer instinctively thought Gu Changge was worried about the Shen Family’s fate, but as she mulled over it, she grew to believe that the man had other motives. No way would Gu Changge worry about the Shen Family’s fate.

Very quickly, she followed after the group, regretting not taking the big red bird with her. After all, given its abilities, it could spot and retrieve any treasure along the way.

Meanwhile, a bizarre scene was occurring at a Space Rift far away from the place. Outside, the waves surged greatly, washing up against the rift repeatedly. There seemed to be a real world revolving inside, rumbling with each crash.

Runes flashed across the Space Rift as Li Xiu’s elderly servant entered it, restoring it to its original state. One covered by mysterious mist.

Many candles forged by unknown materials lit up in a tunnel, dispersing the faint mist around as the elder entered with a jade jar in his hands. He appeared devoted and diligent like he was about to meet the most important being in his life.

A green glow coursed through the rift on the outside as mysterious Principles flickered on the surrounding rocks, containing terrifying energy and danger.

He had set up this array. He was worried that cultivators would enter by accident and encounter the recuperating War Immortal.

Back then, he found Shen Xian’er’s grandfathers trapped not far away after he left the place, and he happened to be bringing Li Xiu, who had just formed a new physical body.

After consideration, he saved the two to provide Li Xiu with a chance to get close to other beings. Unfortunately, things never always go according to plan, and the thought that his planning and efforts had gone down the drain made him livid with rage.

“Just a few more Sources and The War Immortal can return to the world. Our vengeance won’t be settled so easily this time.” The Elder traversed the tunnel into a brightly lit space that looked like a gilded underground palace.

Spiritual energy filled the place as Celestial Mist drifted in the air. In fact, slivers of Life Principles manifested and drifted in the air.

This was the amazing Sanctuary of Resurrection. Being near the Boundary Marker Sea, it had a natural geographical advantage.

Meanwhile, because the Boundary Marker Sea had been a location of many great wars with a large number of casualties, the Sources of many who had fallen would spread out or dissipate into the vast world. Most would linger at the Boundary Marker Sea, then eventually gather here. With time, a Sanctuary of Resurrection like this was formed, and legend has it that the deepest part of the sanctuary was the Ten Thousand Immortals Altar.

Legend has it that the Ten Thousand Immortals Altar was constructed as a plea for the Heavenly Path to give a person another chance to live.

The Elder didn’t know if such a legend was true, but the Sanctuary of Resurrection was in fact real. Not only could the place nurture the War Immortal’s broken soul, but it could also reconstruct his disintegrated body. It was incredibly mystical.

It was said that not even the mysterious place in the depths of the Lake of Reincarnation, which was related to the Fortuity of the Upper Realm, could go this far.

In the centre of the gilded underground palace lay a bronze coffin, and in the four corners were old lamps with small flames.

Evidently, the oil in the lamps was not simple kerosene but grease refined from the spine, using a unique method created by an exceptional clan, allowing the fire to burn for countless years.

Inside the bronze coffin lay none other than the War Immortal, who had fought the Eight Wastelands and Ten Domains back in the days.

After approaching the coffin, the Elder behaved even more deferentially, placing the jade jar near the bronze coffin gingerly to allow the ball of light to fall into it.

“Master…” he spoke up deferentially, wanting to report all that had happened in the outside world, including Li Xiu’s death.

“I know.” An impassive, hoary, and feeble voice came from inside the coffin.

Li Xiu was supposed to be his new vessel, after all. Because they were physically and mentally linked, he naturally knew all that had happened in the Shen Family despite being worlds away.

“So how are we to get even with Gu Changge, Master?” asked the Elder deferentially after a split-second pause.

“Leave it aside for now. I’ll form another body sometime later. Anyone from the Gu Family is not easy to deal with. Besides, my enemies have probably already learned that I am not truly dead yet. So let him bask in his triumph for now,” said the feeble voice in the coffin self-deprecatingly.

Who’d have thought he, who was once a superior being, had ended up in such a miserable state, so miserable that he dared not seek revenge but could only hide in the shadows after being slaughtered so humiliatingly.

“Yes, Master.” The Elder, too, was greatly saddened by the news.

There was a time when the War Immortal was high-spirited and peerless. If it wasn’t that the heavens forbade it, he’d have long become a true Immortal. But now, he could only live the rest of his life in this bronze coffin while needing his servant to look for his flesh and Source to help him regenerate.

As if it wasn’t terrible enough, even a Junior could humiliate and torture him with ease.

Suddenly, a grave and appalled voice came from inside the bronze coffin. “Someone’s here…”

The Elder turned grim in response. [Why didn’t I sense anything?]

He had set up many arrays around the Sanctuary of Resurrection. So he’d know at once if someone entered.

Just as he was about to turn his head around, a mischievous voice came from behind.

“So this is where you’re hiding. We meet again, War Immortal,” said Gu Changge as he gazed at the bronze coffin. Behind him, Gu Xianer and the others sized the space up.

“Y-You’re Gu Changge!” Chills ran down the Elder’s spine as his countenance turned for the worse. [How in the world did he get here!? I have been so cautious; how was I tailed!?]

“It’s not your fault. It’s the power of karma. He has an artifact that can deduce karma and destiny. He used it to get to this place.” Li Xiu’s voice came from inside the bronze coffin. He seemed to be explaining to the Elder, but he sounded incredibly grave and fearful.

Since Gu Changge could find this place, then it meant that the young man would certainly not spare him.

“Who’d have thought the Sanctuary of Resurrection would be so easy to find?” Commented Gu Changge as he sized the place up. Then, he pulled the Solar Heavenly Blade out, making no effort to entertain the Elder, and slashed it across the Elder with a terrifying power laced with a sliver of power of the Great Dao.

*Pssht!* Blood flew across space as the Elder groaned in pain. Despite having reacted quickly enough, even drawing his artifact and activating it, he still coughed up blood in an instant, and his body nearly blew up.

He was in the Peak Sacred Emperor Realm, but he was obviously no match for the Solar Heavenly Blade-wielding Gu Changge. Having remained intact was already enough to prove how strong he was.

“Why must you go this far when you and I have nothing against each other?” The War Immortal’s cold and raging voice came from inside the coffin. He couldn’t believe Gu Changge would be so relentless as to come all the way here, sparing no mercy.

“No, we do.” Gu Changge smiled, then swung the sword towards the coffin. For a moment, a terrifying wave rippled through the space.

The coffin shook violently. Despite being made out of tough material, the sword still managed to slice it apart, causing the War Immortal’s body to roll out instantly.

“This…” Gu Xianer widened her eyes with incredulity, having a hard time associating the rotten, furry, green body with the War Immortal.

“Gu Chanagge, you…” The War Immortal frothed at the mouth. His current state looked beyond hideous. There wasn’t a single piece of his flesh safe from being rotten, and he was covered in green fur so long that it was arm’s length.

“Master…” The Elder looked stupefyingly at it all, unable to accept the furry, green body was the War Immortal he knew.

“So you’re already on the road to death, huh? What a waste of this sweet Sanctuary of Resurrection.” Gu Changge, on the other hand, wasn’t surprised at all.

It was apparent that the War Immortal was in a state of transformation, just that he still had a long way to go. However, he wouldn’t be able to achieve it even if he was given another few million years, and he’d be left defenceless at this stage.

“Damn it… You surely wouldn’t dare to humiliate me like this if I was at my peak!” The War Immortal was furious. However, he was now but rotting flesh and bones. As much as his mind was still working, his body couldn’t move an inch.

Just as Gu Changge said, he was a fish on a chopping board, left to be slaughtered at any moment.

Gu Changge wasted no time. He was searching for a Sanctuary of Resurrection in the first place, and the War Immortal’s current state to him was nothing more than experience points now. Hence, he couldn’t be bothered to entertain the walking dead.

*Woosh!* The next second, unrivalled power burst from the Solar Heavenly Blade, and Gu Changge slashed through the War Immortal, who roared in terror.

Having long been in shambles, the War Immortal’s body blew up once again, turning into dust. He was dead for good this time.

Of course, Gu Changge naturally hadn’t forgotten to seize his Fortuity before that. However, after doing all that, he ignored the System notification that had popped up in his head as well as the Gold Fortuity Chest that had dropped out. Instead, he continued to scrutinise this place.

He believed this would be a favourable place for him to deal with the demoness in red after some setting things up. Of course, it had to be given that his guess was right, or all of it would all be for nothing. Furthermore, the six months window was approaching its end.
