Pitch black energy from the Eternal Overcast was wafting in the air, making the entire space look somewhat gloomy. Disturbances from a battle between Yin Spirits with black eyes and young cultivators could be heard from afar. They would leave behind terrifying aftermath, where black mists whirled into the skies, affecting regions of tremendous distances away.

Possessing immense battle power, these young prodigies all showed powerful moves. However, neither their opponent nor them were affected by it. Right now, on the Eternal Overcast Battlefield, such scenes were everywhere as battle would constantly erupt.

Essentially, countless young cultivators were crazed by the reputation of Immortal Academy. As a matter of fact, even Gu Changge and Wang Zijin, who were widely recognised as the strongest among the younger generation, needed to earn their spots in the academy by killing Eternal Overcast creatures.

Thus, there were no shortcuts or relying on recommendation to get into it. In this scenario, all lives were equal, and only by accumulating points could one enter the Immortal Academy.

“If that’s the case, I guess this is where we part ways for now, Brother Gu.”

On a bone-dry mountaintop, where differently shaped stones stood, a duo was standing side by side, resembling a pair of gods.

Dressed in light blue, Wang Zijin rested her hands on her back as she smiled. Her aura was as tranquil as a lake, flawless and perfect. More importantly, the energy surrounding her body carried the essences of the world, as celestial energy wafted around her body, as though she could soar to the sky anytime. Even Gu Changge struggled with the urge to devour her, but the celestial energy within her seemed to have a mind of its own.

As such, Gu Changge figured that was something to do with her ‘cheat’, or something bound to her life. An idea that arose from how Wang Zijin’s methods were far more troubling than those of ancient monstrosities. Besides, her existence wouldn’t interrupt his future plans.

Moreover, Gu Changge didn’t think he had gone out of his mind. Wang Zijin had her intentions with him, but the feeling was only mutual. Not only did the woman crave for his body, but she also wished to trump him, and Gu Changge was quite eager to see who would trump in the end.

In response, he smilingly replied, “The Eternal Overcast Battlefield isn’t that big. I’m sure we will meet again soon. As for the matter earlier, I am very grateful. If you hadn’t taken a step back, I would have been devastatingly embarrassed.

Not knowing whether he meant his words or was only saying them as courtesy, Wang Zijin retained her smile and suggested, “If you wish to express your gratitude, why don’t you remember that you owe me one, so you can repay it in the future?”

With a subtle smile, Gu Changge answered, “Very well. Then I shall take my leave.”

As for Gu Changge’s speech and his indifference regarding Jiang Chuchu, Wang Zijin didn’t question him about it, though she was curious why Jiang Chuchu would be so unusually cold to Gu Changge, and it wasn’t like the Jiang Chuchu she knew to behave this way.

As a fellow woman, Wang Zijin possessed an innate intuition for such matters. Especially after her cruel experience in her past life, she could sense a womanly grudge within the matter. Gu Changge wasn’t a man who would falter over any woman, and his passionate gestures were merely a facade to his apathy deep in his heart.

But of course, she wasn’t exactly informed of the matter between him and Jiang chuchu, as well as the fact that the Successor of Mortal Palace that had been walking the Upper Realm was merely an imposter arranged by Gu Changge.

“I shall see you very soon, Brother Gu.” Wang Zijin responded with a smile.

Nodding his head, Gu Changge took a step forward and his body vanished as he instantaneously appeared at a spot kilometres away. His speed was unmatched even by Wang Zijin.

[That guy… I can never understand him. Why doesn’t he like me? Am I not attractive enough?] Wang Zijin rubbed her temple.

Having lived two lives, she finally felt emotions for the first time, but Gu Changge’s attitude left her thinking that he might not be interested in women, as if all he had in mind was absolute power. Yet, judging by his numerous gestures, that might not be the case given how he effortlessly piqued Ying Yu’s fondness.

[Is he some Atlantean King? Well, whatever. It aches my head thinking about this. I doubt the man’s heart is made of steel…] With that, Wang Zijin left the mountaintop for where she first began her journey, the depths of Eternal Overcast Battlefield, also where Jiang Chuchu seemed to have herself trapped within, and there was no telling what situation she was in now.

“Master, we have conquered this region. The rest of the Eternal Overcast creasures have been dealt with. Most of them were around Partial-Enlightened Realm, and only a few were True Enlightened Realm…”

On the other hand, after parting ways with Wang Zijin, Gu Changge went to look for his followers, who were now respectfully reporting their result upon entering Eternal Overcast Battlefield.

“It seems where we are now is merely the outer region. The true strongmen are in the depths.” Gu Changge nodded as he turned to the inner region far away, yet no young beings were visible. After all, given his reputation, except for those who dare to defy him, none dared to loiter any further.

Meanwhile, the rest of his followers were carrying the corpses of the Eternal Overcast creatures, and they were all waiting to leave the area to convert those corpses to points in Immortal Academy. Since earning a reputation in Immortal Academy required a substantial amount of points, a few creatures in the Partial-Enlightened Realm would be far from enough.

Fortunately for them, Gu Changge had no intention of seizing the points from his followers’ hands since all he had to do was advance deeper into the battlefield and kill a creature in the Quasi-Sacred Realm. Essentially, the reason he came to Eternal Overcast Battlefield wasn’t to earn a reputation in Immortal Academy, so there were preparations to be made and numerous matters to tend to, leaving him no time to waste on killing puny Eternal Overcast creatures.

As for the jade talisman he gave Wang Zijin, he cast a brand on it. Since she had yet to notice it, he decided to let her explore for herself before coming up with ways to infiltrate the place the Eternal Overcast was to see whether he could locate the core of the Eternal Overcast.

From what he knew, the existence of Eternal Overcast was all thanks to the core region that predated. After countless years, the eruption of Eternal Overcast affected many worlds, and its unfathomable engulfing power left all beings terrified.

Within the core region was the origin that created the Eternal Overcast, which Gu Changge planned to devour with his Grand Flask. In the worst-case scenario, he could turn to his wonderful Fatums. Evidently, Gu Changge came fully prepared for the conquest of the Eternal Overcast.

Moreover, its energy deep within its land was extremely dense, and no ordinary living beings would be able to dwell there as they would very soon be engulfed by the strong Yin energy.

The area of the Eternal Overcast Battlefield for Gu Changge was vast, but the zone Ye Han conquered was very small in comparison. Thus, Gu Changge pondered for a bit and decided to keep the mass under control, after which he instructed, “Well done, but these points are far from sufficient. Here, this is my commandment token. If anyone dares defy, use it to contact me. I shall leave for some time.”

Having said that, he tossed the commandment token to Ye Han. Due to his unique identity, many bystanders were watching the exchange, and it would be burdensome if he wished to pull off certain moves now. Therefore, he decided to shake himself out of the situation by leaving Eternal Overcast Battlefield as an excuse to lessen the attention on him, or he would eventually find himself shackled by problems.

Seeing that, the rest of the followers grew envious as they realised Ye Han earned Gu Changge’s respect since he was given the commandment token while they hadn’t the honour to receive it.

Then, Ye Han grew excited, respectfully receiving the commandment token as he hastily replied, “Rest assured, Master. I shall fulfil the mission you delegated.”

Gu Changge nodded. “I believe in you.”

Accordingly, his body instantly vanished as he left.

“I wonder what is the reason Master left the Eternal Overcast Battlefield. Did something huge happen out there?” After Gu Changge left, a dashing prodigal damsel curiously asked.

“No idea, but we shouldn’t question Master’s actions.”

“Let’s get this over with. With his influence, no Eternal Overcast creature would dare to oppose us. This is our very chance to enter Immortal Academy.” Other followers shook their heads, not daring to question Gu Changge’s purpose.

Followingly, many young beings noticed Gu Changge’s appearance at the entrance of the Eternal Overcast Battlefield, as if he left the battleground for the outside world. The news caused a turmoil as it involved Gu Changge, the most domineering cultivator of the younger generation. Even Ying Shuang, the heir to the Sky Emperor, proved significant inferior to him.

Thereupon, many were relieved seeing that Gu Changge withdrew himself from Eternal Overcast Battlefield. However, the battleground was immeasurably vast, while the region Gu Changge conquered took up only a tiny part of it.

And so, news about Gu Changge spread across a small region, but the commotion it caused was huge. Ying Yu, Ye Langtian, and Wang Zijin, who also heard about the news, bore different feelings and opinions about it.

“Young Master, we will be arriving at the depths of the Eternal Overcast Battlefield as we advance a little more. There are innumerable Eternal Overcast creatures in the Enlightened King Realm. If we proceed even further, we may encounter creatures in the Quasi-Sacred Realm and even in the Sacred Realm. However, the Yin energy in the depths is too thick. I fear our men won’t be able to withstand it.”

In front of a lake that dried up a long time ago, a group of people were approaching on their vigorous wild beasts that resembled godly deers, pixius and kyrins. All of them bore frightening aura as mists wafted around their limbs, making them appear mythical and daunting.

In that instant, a young person with a rhinoceros horn was speaking. He was also a young prodigy in the True Enlightened Realm.

“It is no issue. Half of you follow me while the other half keep watch here. Do not let anyone else pass by. We barely had enough Eternal Overcast creatures to kill, and we could save some trouble if we were to encounter a Quasi-Sacred Realm one. It is said that Gu Changge has left Eternal Overcast Battlefield, so now is our chance to amass our points to subdue him! Let’s show him that it’s no easy feat being the best among the younger generation!”

The ‘Young Master’ was a buffed, stunning young man, who wore a golden robe. His golden hair shone blindingly like the sun and liquid gold, while his eyes glowed, resembling two miniature suns. There were also two golden horns on top of his head that were surrounded by magical energy. Nevertheless, he was not of a Dragon Race, but of a Qilin Race, the rare Golden Qilin Race.

Qi Lin Zi, an ancient abomination that lived until now, had achieved the Quasi-Sacred Realm. His father, the Qilin Demonic Emperor, was once a dominator in the Demon World as his strength was unparalleled. Although he never conquered the entire Demon World, his presence instilled fear in many Ancient Immortal Races.

Eventually, Qi Lin Zi succeeded his father’s terror, and despite being only in his twenties, he attained strength equivalent to that of his father. Even without being sealed, his strength exceeded that of his peers.

Besides, Golden Qilins possessed a unique Talent that could help them prevent disasters, and from certain aspects, they could even predict the future. Although numerous formidable beings, upon reaching a certain level, could glimpse at the future through the River of Time, the drawback would ultimately catch up to them. Nonetheless, Golden Qilins would never encounter such a situation. In other words, the gods favoured them in this specific way.

Upon Qi Lin Zi’s words, his followers nodded. Most of them chose to follow him, while the rest, who were aware of their own limits, stayed behind.

“Who’s there…” All of a sudden, Qi Lin Zi’s face changed as godly beams as sharp as a blade were shot out of his eyes. He turned around towards the sky with a stiff gaze as he felt an endangering aura surrounding them. It was his gifted instinct, another Talent of the Golden Qilin Clan.

Thereupon, he could feel his forehead tingling as though it was pierced by a needle. It was as if his head was about to implode. The danger before him was out of his imagination.

“What’s going on?”

“What’s happening to Young Master?”

Qi Lin Zi’s followers barely realised it as they were all stunned, turning around in bafflement, only to see nothing other than the plain, gloomy sky.

“Be wary! Threat ahead!” Qi Lin Zi sternly warned.

Instantly, he cast a grand astral projection behind him.

*Whoosh!* An alarming aura that bore condensed lights of a million stars was conjured.

It was a Sacred Grade Weapon that was forged with sturdy stars through great magical powers. In that instant, it was swirling while emitting thundering booms. As soon as the stars occurred, they were crystallised and surrounded with Mist of Chaos while vast runes intertwined high up in the sky.

Qi Lin Zi’s reaction speed was amazingly fast, and having cast the astral projection, he felt much safer, after which he heaved a sigh of relief before glaring at the sky with an icy gaze.

“Since you’re here, why don’t you show yourself!?” He then shouted.

Hearing that, his followers quickly kept their guards up, conjuring different types of weapons and arrays.

“Hehe… Your reaction speed is commendable, but our Master has ordered for the seizing of your Source. None of you will be making it out alive.”

Following a spine-chilling sneer, three terrorizing figures appeared high up in the sky. They were all donning black robes and their faces were unseeable as they were covered in mists; only their vicious red eyes, filled with coldness, insanity and bloodlust, could be seen. Their strength struck fear in the hearts of those below them, who then shivered in shock. [Three in the Sacred Lord Realm?]

Then, the sky trembled, almost breaking the Principles of the World apart. Even the Eternal Overcast Aura nearby started to grow denser.

“Young Master… W-Who have we upset? Impossible, three in the Sacred Lord Realm…” One of Qi Lin Zi’s followers, who were obviously dumbfounded as their faces paled.

[One Sacred Lord was already perceived as undefeatable, let alone three!]

“Did the Successor of Demonic Arts send you? We bear no grudge against each other. Why is he targeting me?” At that moment, Qi Lin Zi’s face grew even more tense and somewhat pale, revealing traces of distress and insecurity.

However, compared to the rest, he was clearly more composed. Accordingly, runes slowly surged from his golden eyes before turning into terrifying power as he wished to investigate the background of the three. Judging by their words, he could already figure out where they came from. After all, other than the Successor of Demonic Arts, no one would ever seek to seize another’s Source.

Nonetheless, Qi Lin Zi couldn’t fathom who would be so bold to send three people in the Sacred Lord Realm to murder him at such a time. As unrivalled beings one Realm below Sacred King Realm, and three of them showed up at once. To any cultivator of the younger generation, the outcome would only be death. As such, intense restlessness surged in Qi Lin Zi’s heart.

“You’re not foolish after all. However, no one would be coming for your rescue, so hand over your Source and we might leave your body intact. Our Master is very interested in your Source.” High up in the sky, one of the Sacred Lords snickered. Immense coldness and ruthlessness filled its eyes as it looked down at those below.

*Zoom!* As he was speaking, he drew his hands and a black giant palm surrounded by twinkling runes covered the sky, leaving darkness to engulf the land as if an entire continent was plummeting towards these youths. Under the might of someone in the Sacred Lord Realm, any resistance would seem ever so insignificant. Meanwhile, the other two did not participate in the engagement as they were watching for those attempting to escape.

*Thump!* In an instant, the black giant palm landed and a series of grumbles were heard, followed by the agonised shrieks of Qi Lin Zi’s followers. Despite possessing powerful protective forbidden weapons, they failed to defend themselves as they were turned into puddles of blood, while their Primordial Spirits and weapons were smashed into dust.

“Help, Young Master!”

“We don’t want to die!”

Those who survived were devastated, shouting at Qi Lin Zi as their faces blanched.

“Stay still and you might die a quick death.” Amid the darkness, a sinister laugh was heard, as if a godly being was about to slaughter an army of ants.

“Stop it! Don’t you fear revenge from the force behind my back?” Qi Lin Zi’s hideous scowl was extremely hideous. He then triggered the astral projection behind him. As the stars began to swirl, a frightening godly force was about to gush out.

Alas, he was only in the Quasi-Sacred Realm, while his opponent was in the Sacred Lord Realm. The disparity in their strength was unfathomable. At a swing of a hand, the Sacred Lord Realm expert showed power only his cultivation level could display, shattering the space as terrifying riptures ripe through, causing stars that were engulfed to be instantaneously disintegrated.

“Fear? For what? All of you will die here, and no one will know who the murderers are!” The Sacred Lord Realm expert then chortled with an indifferent attitude, as if he intended to annihilate all of them at once.

  1. What the fuck is an Atlantean King? Can you please use translator notes to explain stuff when you’re making up idioms? I swear, even MTL makes me more sense than that.
