“Changge, you’re so cruel… I never would have expected that you would be the one to come and kill me. You are the person I loved and hated the most.”

Muttering, Yue Mingkong stared into the empty palace as she closed her eyes. The corner of her eyes seemed to be glistening with tears, but her despair quickly disappeared as there was only coldness when she reopened them. Her voice was calm, and so was her heart. Her heart that had been aching for half a year had gotten used to the pain.

Yue Mingkong had no idea why she returned to three thousand years ago. Six months had already passed since her reincarnation. Yet, she was constantly fantasizing about the day of her marriage with Gu Changge. She could hear the cheering from each corner of the world and feel heavenly light shone on them in a mesmerizing scenery. She was in her wedding outfit—a phoenix crown and a ceremonial robe as bashfulness surged in her face while Gu Changge was so dashing that none could rival his appearance. On their wedding night, she gently raised the wine glass and he would get drunk.

For so long, she had awaited him. She helped him build the first Celestial Dynasty in the world and was even willing to sacrifice her relationship with her own father in order to clear him from the suspicion of being the Successor of Demonic Arts. She thought that after doing so much for him, she could finally have a happy ending.

Alas, the wedding night she had been waiting for for three thousand years ended up becoming a cold, condescending gaze from him, followed by an endless, excruciating heartache.

Eventually, she realized the heart of the man she held so dearly never faltered for her, and his every course of action was simply for his own benefit. His attempt to attack her was merely a ruse to clear himself from the name of Successor of Demonic Arts, and at the same time making her the scapegoat, while she had always trusted him and she never once suspected him to be the Successor of Demonic Arts.

At this moment, she could only admit to being an idiot after realizing how Gu Changge’s pretense played her like a fool. A man like him never had adoration for her, and he must have deceived countless people in the world without them knowing.

“Oh, Gu Changge, aren’t you just so heartless? Cold and emotionless, you must not possess a heart. I willingly waited for you for three thousand years, yet you’re not moved even a little. Since the gods have granted me one more chance, I shan’t repeat my mistakes.”

Yue Mingkong’s eyes grew icier as her mind matured. Right now, her former self was still an innocent, childish young woman, and was ignorantly bewitched by the virtually flawless man.

As a princess of the Unrivaled Celestial Dynasty, she thoroughly embarrassed her father. However, now that she had defeated every competition from various royal races, even her brother was no longer a match to her. With such an astounding achievement, she managed to break the record of Unrivaled Celestial Dynasty, and even her father, who was extremely disappointed by her, couldn’t help but praise her. Thanks to her resurrection, her experience from her past life made her mind even clearer. She calculated every move of hers flawlessly, and none could find any imperfection on her.

“At the end of the day, I’m only a tool and a means to clear your name as the Successor of Demonic Arts to you. However, Gu Changge, your joy won’t persist for long. I shall strip everything away so you’ll finally understand me. No, a heartless man like you will never understand me. How unfortunate. Otherwise, I would have slowly won your heart over and ultimately killed you. But now, all I can do is take everything away and have you stay by my side. After all, to you, a lifeless life is the gravest torment there is…”

Yue Ming Kong’s noble gown swayed in the air as she rested her hand behind her back. There was nothing but calmness on her impeccable face. She was facing East where the Immortal Gu Family resided.

At that moment, she knew Gu Changge had returned from the Overworld after having obtained the item he wanted most. She even predicted that her father would send her to the Immortal Gu Family to discuss her marriage with Gu Changge. Essentially, the marriage happening between the Unrivaled Celestial Dynasty and the Immortal Gu Family involved the Fourth Princess of the Unrivaled Celestial Dynasty and the sole heir of the Immortal Gu Family. And such an event would surely intrigue every force and cultivator in the Beyond.

More importantly, Yue Mingkong’s father intended to use the Immortal Gu Family’s influence to conquer another Celestial Dynasty. As everyone in the Beyond knew, the advantages of the Immortal Gu Family were highly unique, and no forces were able to set their hands on any of them. Of course, that included even the first Celestial Dynasty—Unrivaled Celestial Dynasty.

In her past life, she never thought such a thing through. As the fourth princess, although she was exceptionally talented, she was never as cunning as her siblings, which was why her father was disappointed in her, and that was obviously too unremarkable in the royal family.

Back then, Yue Mingkong couldn’t fathom why the Gu Family would approve her marriage with Gu Changge, but she finally understood it now. Because her father had provided innumerable benefits to the Gu Family in secret, she, consequently, was turned into a tool to get married with the sole heir of the leader of the Gu Family.

As a naive girl back then, when she first saw Gu Changge, he was training on top of a boulder. Heavenly lights illuminated as runes glowed. He was only a young man, yet his future was already determined to be great.

She was shocked to know that such a powerful figure would be her future husband. With that, she wrongfully assumed that they would be partners for life.

“Fortunately, it’s still not too late as I’ll be able to meet Gu Changge very shortly.” Collecting her emotions, she slowly shut her eyes.

After all, she knew Gu Changge’s biggest weakness. Once his identity as the Successor of Demonic Arts was exposed, he would become a target to the world, and that was a fact.

Nevertheless, she knew that even if she were to expose his identity, no one would believe her. As Gu Changge was still a cautious man, he seldom revealed any traces of Nommening. Besides, deep inside, she didn’t want to do such a thing, nor did she wish for the day to come.

Imagining the scene of their fight, Yue Mingkong heaved a sigh. At the end of the day, she still loved him deeply. Even after her revival, she was still too soft and kind.

“That’s not right. I shouldn’t be in love with him anymore. Since I have no interest in resorting to such a lowly tactic—exposing his demonic nature, I shall take everything away from him the righteous way…”

Quickly, Yue Mingkong shook her head as she muttered to herself.

“Greetings, Young Master Gu.”

“Young Master Gu has returned!”

After traveling from the ancient palace to the border of the Beyond and going through numerous teleportations, Gu Changge and the rest finally arrived at the gates of the Immortal Gu Family Residence, where a crowd of disciples of the Gu Family was respectfully awaiting.

Gu Changge nodded his head.

Before his eyes were countless Godly Islands and Mystic Mountains floating in the sky covered in radiant mist and emitting heavenly lights that beaconed through the sky. They were shielded by a terrifying, shining barrier that resembled sunlight. Though, such an aura was nothing out of the ordinary. If it was awakened, even cultivators of Enlightened King Realm would be prevented from entering.

“So this is what an Immortal Family looks like…” Lin Qiuhan and Su Qingge felt a ring in their heads. They were about to get numb from the ringing on their way to the Beyond, and after they saw such a grand scenery, maintaining their composure became even harder. What they saw couldn’t be described as a race’s land as it was as monumental as an entire world.

“Let’s go,” Gu Changge stated, intending to show Lin Qiuhan and Su Qingge around, especially the former, whom he intended to send to the Guild of Alchemy. Although she wouldn’t be mistreated by anyone thanks to his identity, he couldn’t afford to take any risks. After all, Lin Qiuhan, as a being of the Overworld, was nothing but a punching bag to the beings in the Beyond.

“Ming Lao, arrange their accomodation,” Gu Changge instructed Ming Lao.

Most importantly, due to the strict rules of the Gu Family, their territory was split into Inner Island and Outer Island, and where they were now was only the latter. Since only direct family members were allowed to live on the Inner Island, Lin Qiuhan and Su Qingge wouldn’t be allowed to enter before their identities were verified.

Finished, Gu Changge summoned a beam of light and walked onto it. Since the matter at hand was rather urgent, he had to return home and pass on some information to his father as he wasn’t the only person in on his plans. Essentially, his father was also involved in them.

“Young Master Gu is headed to the Inner Island. This old one shall bring the two of you to get familiar with the Gu Family’s rules, so you won’t embarrass him. Besides, since you’ve met the people of the Immortal Gu Family, you shan’t do anything reckless from now on.”

After Gu Changge left, Ming Lao spoke to Su Qingge and Lin Qiuhan as he led them through the intertwining Godly Islands and Mystic Mountains.

Having regained her cool, Su Qingge was now in a much better state of mind than Lin Qiuhan while the latter was still as nervous as ever.

“Yes, Prime Ancestor.” Lin Qiuhan nodded hastily.

Hearing that, Ming Lao was somewhat dazed as he quickly replied, “From now on, do not refer to me as ‘Prime Ancestor’ in the Gu Family Residence. Just keep it in your mind.”

Regardless, now that Lin Qiuhan earned Gu Changge’s respect, if her relationship with him were to develop, and the Gu Family, who perceived social classes sternly, were to find out that Ming Lao was her ancestor, the old servant would surely be punished.

Lin Qiuhan was oblivious to such a concept, but since her Prime Ancestor had said so, she would naturally obey him. Though, she couldn’t help but heave a sigh in her heart as she was extremely afraid of Gu Changge’s family.

On their journey, the innumerable sceneries left her dizzy as she had never seen such stunning Godly Islands and Mystic Mountains. In her eyes, all she could see was a grand sight including palaces on Godly Islands that levitated in the air, the twinkling stars, and the ambiguous clouds. The mystical fogs resembled clouds and the fountains flowed like ice while ancient beasts with daunting aura were wandering through the mountains. Moreover, the wafting spiritual energy was so dense as though it was going to condense into liquid.

Indubitably, Ming Lao wasn’t at all surprised by her reaction. Thousands of years ago, when he first saw such a scenery, he was as stupefied as her. It was his first time taking a glimpse at such a breathtaking view of the Gu Family Residence. Comparing that to the clans and Sects in the Overworld would be equivalent to comparing paradise to a dog’s den.

As thoughts crossed his mind, Ming Lao smilingly said, “This is only the Outer Island. It’s nothing compared to the Inner Island. The island Young Master Gu lives in is where the real magic takes place. I don’t even have the right to enter, so for you…”

As he was speaking, admiration surged in his mind.

In the meantime, Gu Changge took the teleportation array and traveled to the Inner Island from the Outer Island. Before him was an extravagant palace where a rift suddenly appeared.

“Changge is back?” A tender voice of a middle-aged man was heard.

  1. What the heck. That’s so confusing. It’s it a resurrection or a she given a rebirth at life? It’s not so clear. Hopefully our MC gets through it

    Many thanks
