An ebony blade instantaneously probed into Yue Mingkong’s body.

*Thump!* Blood splatter blurred his vision as the red royal gown became even redder.

Gu Changge watched the blood splashed onto him and staining his clothes as well as Yue Mingkong’s final shock, perplexion and dismay. In that instant, he felt as if he was a stranger to himself. It was his body, but he couldn’t control it. He was unable to prevent the incident from happening.

Very soon, the picture disappeared.

Gu Changge remained silent for a moment before letting out a sigh. [No wonder Yue Mingkong suddenly dropped her pretense after hearing those words…] If he were in her shoes, he, too, would feel humiliated by those words.

One was murdered by their partner on the night of their wedding and was regressed to the past – Gu Changge wasn’t unfamiliar with such a plot, but for it to happen on his own fiancée might prove troublesome.

[And that’s what she went through before her regression—being killed by my own hands on our wedding night. But obviously, I wouldn’t do such psychotic things. Killing such a loving woman who’s my perfect wife… Only those sick in the head would do such a thing. According to her past, at the time, I was solely guided by the demonic voices in my head. In other words, in that timeline, I didn’t have the help of the System nor did I possess the memories of my past.]

Swiftly, Gu Changge though things through. As a breeze blew over the top of the mountain, he summoned an Arcane Bridge and left. Since he had figured out the reason, coming up with numerous solutions would be easy.

[Speaking of this, the demonic energy has really messed with me countless times. Though, it wasn’t like there’s no way to deal with it. If anything, it’s the best scapegoat. However, with what Yue Mingkong had experienced, it won’t be easy to make her trust me this time. Besides, there are so many details that I’m left out of…] Gu Changge pondered as he was on his way to the palace.

[Indubitably, it isn’t the end of the world. After all, judging by Yue Mingkong’s reactions, she, indeed, loved me deeply, but things may be different now. Once a woman resents a man, they can really wreak havoc. After all, hatred to the bones isn’t just baseless words. Besides, her regression granted her omniscience, which she could use to eliminate the obstacles that go in her way, and it’s unquestionable that she knows too much about me.]

After pondering for a while, Gu Changge concluded that his biggest advantages were his System, himself as the world’s aberration, and the variables within him because right now, he was in control of his own actions as the demonic energy had already been dealt with.

Therefore, if Yue Mingkong was still in love with him, countless problems could easily be resolved. By then, not only could he receive a great deal of rewards from the System, he would also have a wife who had regressed, and no other advantage could beat that. Though, it was still possible that Yue Mingkong was plotting to kill him at this very moment.

[Yue Mingkong doesn’t know that the Gu Changge that killed her in the future and the Gu Changge that I am now are two completely different men, so it’s only natural that she suspects that everything I do now was for the sake of deceiving her. She must be extremely cautious right now. Apart from that, the reason for her behavior—pretending to be her previous self—should be caused by the fact that what she experienced previously is totally different from what she experienced with me now, so she must think that I, like her, too regressed from the future. She fears that I know about her regression, but she eventually lost her patience upon those final words and chose to leave instead…]

Quickly, Gu Changge understood the details of everything. What troubled him the most was the fact that Yue Mingkong was too damaged to believe the words he said. Even if he were to explain himself, saying that he was not the same man that killed her in the past and he had only done so because of the demonic energy that controlled his actions, she wouldn’t believe him. Instead, it would only worsen things and make her grow even more skeptical of him. Thereupon, things would go the opposite way as he wanted.

Hence, Gu Changge didn’t feel the need to explain himself, and the best way he could take was to pretend as if he was oblivious to her regression as he did before. As for his next course of actions, he, undoubtedly, had thought it through and planned it out.

Meanwhile, in the palace, Gu Lintian was in a meeting with Emperor Yue. They were visibly gleeful as though they had come to an agreement, only to see Yue Mingkong entering with her slightly reddened eyes as if she had cried.

At once, Gu Lintian frowned as vexation surged on his face, asking, “What’s wrong Mingkong? Did Changge bully you again? Tell me what happened. I’ll teach him a lesson for sure!”

Of course, he was aware that Gu Changge had always been cold and indifferent to Yue Mingkong, so it was normal that his son would bully her. On the other hand, Yue Mingkong, as his future daughter-in-law, Gu Lintian and his wife had always admired her, so they couldn’t afford to have their son bullying her. Besides, even Gu Changge himself claimed that he was only behaving in such a way due to the demonic energy within him, but he probably wouldn’t be so unreasonable now. Hence, Gu Lintian couldn’t help but wonder why Yue Mingkong cried.

“What’s wrong, Mingkong?” Emperor Yue, too, noticed something was off with his daughter and subconsciously asked. Lately, Yue Mingkong’s performance had been satisfying and comforting in his eyes, so he grew even more compassionate toward his daughter.

Regardless, Yue Mingkong reverted to her natural state and revealed a beaming smile as she shook her head. “You’re stressing yourselves, Uncle Gu and Father. Changge did not bully me. I was only reminiscing about the past and grew sentimental. I apologize for the indecency, Uncle Gu.”

“Argh, this brat Changge is too much! Don’t you defend him, Mingkong, or he’ll continue taking advantage of you once you get married…” In response, Gu Lintian helpless heaved a sigh as he was somewhat disaffected by Gu Changge’s incompetence.

[There’s no other young lady as fine and generous as Yue Mingkong. Her strength is unimaginable, and she’s destined to conquer the Unrivaled Celestial Dynasty in the future. She’ll ultimately be an unequaled queen. There’s too many female youthful talents in the Beyond, but none of them is in the same league as her. However, not only is Changge not appreciative of her, but he even made her cry by bullying her. I must punish him!]

Although Gu Lintian had always spoiled Gu Changge, but in this instant, he couldn’t help but be angry at him.

[When we get married…] Hearing that, Yue Mingkong chuckled as she gently shook her head without saying a word. She feared that from now on, Gu Changge would no longer be able to contain her in his eyes, and was growing eager to eliminate her.

Right now, Gu Changge might be aware of her biggest secret. He was someone who wouldn’t allow anyone that knew about his secrets to continue breathing in this world, and that inevitably included his own wife.

“So you’re here, Mingkong. Do you feel better now?” All of a sudden, Gu Changge’s voice echoed through the palace; his eyes was filled with a trace of sympathy.

With that, Yue Mingkong’s body tensed up as though she saw her archenemy. However, she quickly regained her composure. Essentially, no matter how much he wished to kill her, he wouldn’t dare to do so in their fathers’ presence.

“What’s happening, Changge? Did you bully Mingkong again? Did you make her cry?” At once, Gu Lintian shot his son a scowl as he began rebuking him, intending to teach him a lesson if he slipped up.

Upon those words, Gu Changge was obviously stunned before letting out a chuckle. “What are you talking about, Father? Why would I do that? She’s my future wife. In fact, I don’t even think I managed to show her enough love, so how could I bully her?”

Saying that, he casually walked up to Yue Mingkong and leisurely held her hand. Her fingers were white and as delicate as flawless gems.

Since the very beginning, Yue Mingkong’s body was always stiff as she couldn’t comprehend Gu Changge’s actions.

She couldn’t help but wonder if he was pretending to be affectionate in front of their fathers in order to deceive his father. Nonetheless, she realized that it was the first time Gu Changge held her hand in her two entire lives, so she instantly felt overwhelmed.

“Hmm. That’s better.” Seeing that, Gu Lintian let out a scoff as he let his son off.

“Do you feel better now? You were acting strange earlier. Why do you look like you cried?” Gu Changge turned to Yue Mingkong who was rather stiff, as if he was absolutely clueless. With a voice so gentle and eyes so tender, he softly asked.

“I’m fine, Changge. Don’t worry.” At Gu Changge’s warm utterance, Yue Mingkong was somewhat taken aback, but she managed to respond with a natural smile. The least she could do was not to reveal any oddities in front of the crowd. Though, she was curious about what Gu Changge had in mind as she decided not to be made a fool anymore.

[Nevertheless, those eyes of his are such a precious treasure. In the previous life, he always stared at others with his icy gaze, feigning no empathy as he does now. How good would it be if this were his true color?] Yue Mingkong laughed at herself in her heart. Though, it was more of a self-deprecation.

Today, as the emperor of Unrivaled Celestial Dynasty came to visit, the Gu Family naturally had to hold a grand banquet. In the banquet hall, wines were served and guests were happy. The atmosphere was highly lively.

As Gu Changge and Yue Mingkong sat next to each other, they appeared as though they were a true couple, and many young ones couldn’t help but be jealous of them. Some of them would even think that Gu Changge was too lowly to be with Yue Mingkong.

But of course, they still vividly remembered Gu Changge’s strength as even a group of cultivators wasn’t able to defeat him, so they wouldn’t dare to upset him and could only hold their frustrations deep in their hearts.

Very soon, the banquet was over and the crowd got up and left. As Yue Mingkong consumed a great amount of wine, she grew dizzy and was about to get up to retreat to the chamber the Gu Family prepared for her.

Suddenly, Gu Changge grabbed her and looked at her with a natural smile. “Where are you going, Mingkong? The moon looks beautiful today, and I think it deserves some appreciation.”

Yue Mingkong was stunned.

“Haha! Aren’t the young ones so youthful!” Emperor Yue, Gu Lintian and the rest immediately laughed aloud before they knowingly left the hall. Gu Changge’s actions were rather overstepping in their eyes, but it was understandable since he, too, took some alcohol and he was, after all, a young man.

And so, the hall was filled with silence as only Gu Changge and Yue Mingkong remained.

“What a great night. Don’t leave just yet, Mingkong. Accompany me for a couple more drinks, will you?” Gu Changge’s voice gradually grew bland.

With that, Yue Mingkong revealed her coldness as she dropped her joyful pretense. In that instant, she resembled an overbearing queen. She let out a snicker. “Gu Changge, everybody has left. There’s no point in continuing the act.”

“Why have you changed this much today? Or perhaps, you’ve been too good of an actor previously, so good that I didn’t even see through it.” As if he couldn’t understand her words, Gu Changge remained seated in the banquet hall as he continued drinking with a calm face.

Hearing that, Yue Mingkong was stunned as she couldn’t comprehend Gu Changge’s message.

[I changed? Does he mean what has been happening for the past six months? It seems that he’s really clueless to my regression. Does that mean his tests earlier today were only to determine my changes?]

With that in mind, Yue Mingkong felt relieved. Apparently, Gu Changge didn’t regress along with her as she expected. Or else, he wouldn’t have reverted to his real self and ask her such questions.

At that moment, Yue Mingkong’s face blanched as she felt a terrifying aura surging from the void.

Gu Changge made a move on her.

*Whoosh!*

Instinctively, she speedily drew her hands and made some hand signs as her body was covered in blinding lights. A number of runes appeared between her palms as they formed a Lunar Seal before charging forward.

For the past six months, she had been looking for various Destiny and eventually broke through to Peak Honoured Lord Realm and almost reached the Honoured King Realm. Nonetheless, what left her in dismay was the fact that Gu Changge’s might was still higher than hers. However, she remembered that Gu Changge was only in the Honoured Lord Realm in her previous life. Regardless, she remained composed as she was fully aware of all of Gu Changge’s tricks. Thus, she persisted her caution to avoid falling into his hands.

“Peak Honoured Lord Realm, huh. It seems you’re hiding a lot of things from your future husband, Mingkong,” Gu Changge stated as if he was surprised. Accordingly, terrifying golden runes surged between his palms and formed a world-shaking motion before subduing Yue Mingkong’s Lunar Seal. At the same time, he drew his palm forward and used his Power of Void. *Whoosh!* Instantly, he was in control of the void before his eyes.

“Gu Changge, what are you doing!? Let go of me!” Thereupon, Yue Mingkong shrieked out of fear. All she could feel was her body being constricted by the void that seemed to have solidified.

Immediately, Gu Changge dragged her into his arms. The warmth on his face earlier was no longer present, and instead, there was only the cold, condescending look that she was awfully familiar with.

[No way…] Yue Mingkong’s heart tensed. She never expected Gu Changge to be able to manipulate the void. That ability of his was completely out of her estimation. Quickly, her conscience suddenly shone as a tiny golden figure appeared in blinding lights. The figure let out a chant as though it was about to attack Gu Changge.

Nonetheless, Gu Changge, having come prepared, released a similar shine in his conscience as a dark, godly being with freezing eyes, engulfed in demonic energy suppressed the tiny golden figure’s chant.

Yue Mingkong was thoroughly dazed. Every move of Gu Changge exceeded her expectations, and she had never seen any one of them in her previous life. Thus, she began to wonder if the Gu Changge in her previous life was the same as the one before her, or perhaps there might have been an unexpected change.

“Mingkong, are you not going to be honest with me, even now?” Gu Changge questioned with a knowing look as he stopped his attacks.

Frowning, Yue Mingkong was bewildered as to why Gu Changge would suddenly withdraw his hands. In her eyes, Gu Changge was someone that wouldn’t rest until he accomplished his goals. [What if the purpose of everything he has done today was simply to know about the changes I’ve gone through for the past six months?]

Thinking that, Yue Mingkong heaved a sigh of relief. And so, she straightforwardly confessed, “Since it has come to this, I shall fess up. Gu Changge, everything I’ve done in the past was only a deliberate act to please you, but I no longer want to do that. A man like you is absolutely heartless. Since your heart doesn’t waver, I shan’t bother myself with it either.”

Her words were rather half-hearted. Though, it could still help her conceal her regression.

Hearing that, Gu Changge was tempted to praise her for her intellect, but he merely retained the calm look on his face. “Oh? How do you know my heart doesn’t waver?” He quizzed.

Yue Mingkong attempted to shake herself out of his grasp, but as her attempt failed, she stopped trying. Gu Changge’s words made her more resistant to entertain him. She used her own life to prove her words, so she didn’t see the need to debate with him further.

Nonetheless, she was still relieved that Gu Changge did not regress from the future as she did. In fact, the Gu Changge before her eyes was precisely the one she knew. The charming treatment was evidently a facade to draw the truth out of her, but thanks to her tactfulness, she was able to come up with some nonsensical statements and kept her secrets unrevealed.

“So that’s how you perceive me. You’ve been hiding so much from me all these years, Mingkong. That’s heartbreaking, you know,” Gu Changge replied with a faint smile.

“Gu Changge, you know your personality better than anyone.” Yue Mingkong snickered. Since she already fell out with Gu Changge, she was no longer concerned. Besides, since they were in the territory of the Gu Family, Gu Changge wouldn’t dare to kill her.

Upon those words, Gu Changge remained unaffected and he swiftly carried her back to his chamber. Along his way, many members of the family saw them together and revealed affectionate smiles.

“What are you doing, Gu Changge?” At that moment, Yue Mingkong was somewhat nervous as her mind was perturbed.

“What else is there to do under such a lovely night?” Gu Changge casually answered.
