The Heavenly Ancient City towered high with an aged appearance and a sense of grandeur.
Some parts of it were in ruins. There was damage caused by blades, swords, and halberds. Many other places were stained with blood. All of these told a sorrowful tale of what had happened before.
Just then, the ancient city gate slowly opened like a long-sealed jar that was finally undone again. The powerful aura shot towards the sky, stirring the clouds.
Gu Changge brought the Sky Deer Goddess to this place. It was hard for her to hide her joy when she sensed the richness of the Immortal Factor in the environment.
“Is this the Immortal Domain?” the Sky Deer Goddess murmured.
Her eyes were filled with disbelief. She could sense just how profound the World Principles were. They were exceedingly suitable for cultivators to comprehend Dao.
The shackles of her cultivation, which had limited her, were loosening. Immortal Essence coursed through her veins and body, as if in preparation to undergo a metamorphosis.
She could not help but be stunned when she took in the scarred and desolate mountains and valleys before her.
“What happened here?”
She was genuinely shocked. She thought she would see a flourishing city, but instead, all she saw were ancient Divine Mountains, Immortal Islands, and spirit veins that were all desolate and lifeless.
Gu Changge did not explain anything to her. He did not make this trip to the Immortal Domain solely to allow the Sky Deer Goddess to undergo her Immortal Tribulation. It had merely been an afterthought.
“The Immortal Domain is no longer the ethereal world that everyone dreamt of. It is no longer what it used to be in the past. The ancient ones have died and everyone is in danger. These so-called Immortal lands of legends have become desolate wastelands with no signs of life. You can break into the Immortal Realm here. No one will disrupt you.”
He shook his head and instructed the Sky Deer Goddess to undergo her Immortal Tribulation here as he knew no one would disturb her.
He soon left the Heavenly Ancient City and strode off into the distance.
*Rumble!*
“Changge…” She watched as Gu Changge left. She had more to say and many questions to ask, but there was no time for that.
She reached a bottleneck in her cultivation. Back in the Upper Realm, she lacked the opportunity for the final push.
Now that she passed through what Gu Changge called the Immortal Path and came up to the Immortal Domain, she was like a fish who had finally returned to the water. Every fibre of her being was greedily taking in the Immortal Essence around her.
Muffled thunder and lightning flashed in the sky above as the terrifying bolts gathered into a sea of lightning.
The Immortal Energy flooded the universe. Even the living beings a great distance away could sense it, but when they realised that the energy came from the Western Immortal Domain, their expressions fell.
No one dared to head over and investigate, despite knowing that a True Daoist could be undergoing the Tribulation to become a True Immortal.
The blood of many Immortal Kings had been shed before that ancient city, including the Immortal King from the Western Immortal Domain as well as the four from the Other Domain who fell years ago.
The Heavenly Ancient City had become a land of the dead. It was fraught with danger without any living being within it.
In a radius of tens of millions of kilometres around it, all the land had turned crimson. Fallen stars were seen in many places, forming alarming canyons and ravines.
The living from the Other Domain had bowed in worship from afar in the hopes that the Cursed Souls of their fallen Immortal Kings could find peace.
Five Immortal Kings had descended upon that place, but four were killed by the Forbidden Existence and devoured as nourishment.
This news had rocked the entire Other Domain. Many of the ancient Immortal King Families were terrified.
Some even ventured into the deepest parts of the Other Domain to visit the Ancestors of Emperor Families as they wanted to inform them about it.
King Ming, the only survivor of that incident, was one of them. He immediately thought to do so after fleeing back to the Other Domain, but when he tried to describe the events that took place and reveal the truth, he suffered a backlash and spat out blood, leaving him deeply terrified.
Many heard about the Forbidden Existence who came out of the Heavenly Ancient City from him.
Perhaps it was the very one who caused the fall of the Immortal Domain, the destruction of the connection to the Source World, and the annihilation of the Immortal Palace all those epochs ago.
Such horrifying news led to fear and panic sweeping across the entire Other Domain.
In the beginning many thought that the being could have been an ancient being who returned from the cycle of reincarnation, or perhaps a former supreme expert from the Immortal Domain. No one thought it would be the Forbidden Existence our of all people.
What did it mean that he had resurfaced after countless years? A Disaster? Calamity? The end of life itself?
Unstoppable fear kept spreading across every single corner of the Other Domain. Many Forces were caught up in it too.
That was because they knew just how horrifying that battle had been back then, so they were even more aware of how terrifying this situation was.
Not a single Soul was able to remain calm once they heard the news. Even the Immortal Kings could not rest easy.
Within the Other Domain, grey fog enveloped an ancient and timeless hallowed land. There were ancient cities, majestic ancient stars filled with life, with palaces dotting the sky.
Countless cultivators flourished in the hallowed land. There were statues in every corner and many followers were kneeling in worship, bowing their heads repeatedly.
The grand and majestic King Ming Residence hovered in the void, surrounded by Chaos Mist. Ever since escaping from the Western Immortal Domain, King Ming hid in his residence to recuperate. He only met with those from the younger generation whom he had high regard for, as well as other Immortal Kings who were his good friends.
“This aura…” However, on this day, King Ming, who had been sitting cross-legged on his cushion, abruptly opened his eyes with a look of doubt and shock.
“That’s impossible. How is this possible!?” His emotions were swinging like a pendulum and changing rapidly.
All at once, the stars and clouds above the massive territory began to react. Many stars rattled as if they were being pushed around by a torrential wave. Those that crashed into each other instantly evaporated into dust.
Countless people were prostrating on the ground in terror. They kept bowing without knowing what was happening.
“What’s the matter, Ancestor King Ming?” A few aged True Immortals opened their eyes. They also had expressions of shock as they emerged from their caves.
“He’s back! That monster came back to the Immortal Domain! I’m absolutely certain of it!” King Ming, who was still in his residence, cried out in alarm. His voice trembled as he realised what was happening.
At the same time, he felt a stinging pain between his brows. His cheekbones were glowing as if they were about to explode. His Soul had been tainted by some kind of aura. It had been virtually undetectable at first, but now, it was gleaming brightly.
He understood the situation now. It was not luck that enabled him to escape with his life back then. The Forbidden Existence had done it on purpose and left some kind of mark on him. A mark to confirm his location before the Forbidden Existence would descend upon the Other Domain later on.
Back then, when King Ming had just returned, he paid a visit to an Ancestor of an Emperor Family specifically to request that the Ancestor inspect his body for anomalies.
He had been told that he was completely fine and had nothing to worry about. That allowed him to heave a sigh of relief.
After returning to his territory, the first thing he did was read the ancient texts to get a better understanding of the Forbidden Existence.
Alas, regardless of what kind of records he read, the conclusion he came to left him quaking in fear.
For a while, whenever he closed his eyes, his mind would be flooded with the horrifying scenes that had taken place in front of the Heavenly Ancient City.
The entire event was quickly turning into his nightmares. It was as if he would get an Inner Demon from it.
“I never thought he would come back to the Immortal Domain. What does he want this time?” King Ming clenched his jaw as he forced himself to stay calm and quieten down his heart.
He was still an Immortal King, so after a brief moment of terror, he was able to swiftly regain his composure. He knew full well that the more terrified he was, the more uneasy he would feel as well.
In the past, his emotions never stirred in any way. It was as if he had a rock for a heart.
However, after learning of Gu Changge’s existence, he finally understood that to a being like that, he was no different from an ant. It was the same way he viewed mortals.
“Ancestor King Ming…” Just then, the sound of someone coming to make a report rang out outside the residence. Many ancient True Immortals and descendants of King Ming’s Family within the territory came over after noticing the commotion earlier. They waited outside King Ming Residence because they wanted to know what had happened.
King Ming was the eternal pillar of the Ming Family. He was the reason why they were able to rank amongst the Immortal King Families of the Other Domain.
Therefore, every thought and emotion of his affected the Family’s future as well.
