The demons awaited his response. The talent stone worked since the demons used it already, but why didn’t it show any change in Ling Bao’er’s hand?
It was a mystery that Chen Changan was sure to unravel.
Chen Changan thought, [Why is the talent stone unresponsive? Does Bao’er have no talent?]
Chen Changan refuted that theory. He clearly felt Ling Bao’er changing as he raised her talent. [Since there’s no clear explanation, making one up is the way to go.]
“Everyone sees 9th grade as the limit of talent, unaware it goes even higher, a grade the talent stone can’t gauge.”
Chen Changan had the demons dumbstruck and gasping in shock. [There’s actually talent higher than the 9th grade?]
They lived for thousands of years yet never heard of such a radical notion.
Ling Bao’er blinked, then got excited. “Above 9th grade! Master, does that mean I have such a talent?”
“Correct.” Chen Changan nodded, lying through his teeth.

Chen Changan chuckled at their eager looks, “Disciple, you have great talent but must learn restraint, for there will always be someone better than you out there, of greater talent.”
The demons mulled over his words, [That higher talent must be a chosen of the Upper World!]
This only proved their theory that he was from the Upper World. Offending such a great man was ill-advised, to say the least. This only made them even more willing to submit.
They just got their talent bumped to 8th grade and wanted it to go even higher. They started to see Chen Changan like a god, with nothing but reverence and adoration.
This was what he was after. [They are powerful Nascent Soul demon kings. Now that I have them working for me, I can send them outside the Absolute Domain in my stead.]
“Do well by me, and even ascension isn’t out of reach.” Chen Changan enticed the already excited demons.
As demon kings, they possessed high intellect and shouldn’t be swayed so easily by a couple of promises.
Alas, those promises felt achievable since they got their talent raised and even saw the Everlasting Immortal Tree ready to bloom.

Chen Changan had promised them ascension after raising their talent, making it all the more believable than when coming from someone else.
It felt like his words were law to them!
“Immortal!” Even young Ling Bao’er knew how important ascending to immortality was.
It was the wish of all beings on the Nine Province Continent, be it humans, demons, or any other creature. Who among them, however, had the confidence to declare it a certainty?

Chen Changan smiled, “It will take a little longer. You can just take one for yourself when the time is right.”
Hong Yi’s eyes glittered. “Young Master, is this true?”
“You’re working for me now. I have no reason to lie to you.”
[It’s just an Everlasting Immortal Fruit anyway. It’s not like it’ll stop growing at one. It’s good to be generous to one’s people.]
