Upper World, Black Tortoise Immortal Domain.

“Damn it, my immortal sword!”

A glittering and lavish palace rumbled from the roars of one man, sending all creatures trembling for thousands of miles.

The man in golden robes raged with a twisted face, throwing his mighty immortal power around in a fit of fury, causing the very air to warp.

“Twelve Immortal Generals, get over here right now!”

At the demand of the man in gold, twelve prismatic lights shone into the palace, fading away to reveal twelve people on one knee.

“Greetings, Immortal Lord!”

The man in gold snapped, “Generals, heed my orders! My vital immortal sword that I’ve spent millennia to refine has fallen to the Lower World! Find it at all costs! Kill any filth that stands in your way!”

“We obey!” The twelve immortal generals turned back into prismatic lights and left for the Lower World.

In the immortal temple, Chen Changan questioned the system whether there were any other means of getting domain points besides killing demons and monsters.

<It is up to host to discover them.>

With not much of an answer, Chen Changan shrugged, “Alright.”

He didn’t let it ruin his mood.

[At least I know of one way to gain points. I have nothing to worry about earning them when the world is packed full with monsters and demons.]

Chen Changan finally took a look around at the silent temple.

He cleared his throat and shouted. “Are there any ghosts around?”

His only answer was a stifling silence. Chen Changan felt bad seeing there was only that little ghost in the temple, but then he worried how she came to pass the barrier.

[The old man clearly said there’s a barrier around the temple and it shouldn’t be possible for any evil being to get in, yet tonight a ghost showed up inside, if only just at Qi Refining.]

The only logical explanation was that the old man had been gone for a month now.

He had a bad feeling. [Did something happen to him?]

“Old man, don’t you die on me.” Chen Changan muttered, feeling powerless.

He only had Absolute Domain to rely on, but once he left its range, he was back to being weak.

[I’ll die out there…]

Rumble~

Chen Changan’s stomach voiced its pressing need. He turned bitter and rubbed his stomach.

“The rations the old man left have run out since yesterday. God, I’m so hungry.”

Looking outside the temple, at the heavy rain and eerie darkness, he felt it was the maw of a monster waiting for him to walk inside and swallow him whole.

Chen Changan gave up going out to look for food.

He shook his head and leaned on the statue, muttering, “Never mind, let’s wait for tomorrow before looking for food.”

Chen Changan closed his eyes, fighting through the hunger to gain some sleep.

“God, I can’t take it anymore! I’m starving!” He didn’t make it past the hour before Chen Changan woke up, clutched his hair and despaired.  Having not had a bite to eat for two days, his stomach never stopped voicing its complaints, to his annoyance. [I have the Absolute Domain, but it can’t fill my stomach. Am I just going to starve to death? That’ll be mortifying!]

Chen Changan crawled to his feet, walking to the edge of the Absolute Domain and paused. He reached out his hand outside it.

A sinister and dark wind wrapped around it, sending him shivering. He snapped his hand back in.

In the Absolute Domain, Chen Changan could feel nothing of the dread looming mere inches from him, embraced in warmth. The difference between the two worlds was jarring.

[Why is it so cold? Are there any other ghosts around the temple or not? I’ll surely die if I go out now.]

Chen Changan gnashed his teeth to endure the crippling hunger. “Going means death! Staying means starving to death, but at least it’s slow. No, I’m staying right here!”

Chen Changan collapsed next to the statue, forlorn. “God, I’m hungry. Just send someone in, even a ghost, just make sure they have something to eat on them.”

Boom~

The answer to his prayers was rumbling and even heavier downpour.

Chen Changan was dying of hunger inside the temple, but he did fall asleep in the end. Hugging himself and shivering as he drooled, he wore a dumb smile while raving in his sleep.

“Hotpot, stake, soup, barbeque, he-he-he, they’re all mine…”  Chen Changan was off to dreamland as two figures approached the temple.

One of them was a middle-aged man with a knife scar on his face, rugged, and most of all, had a savage air around him. Behind him was an adorable little girl.

The barely twelve-year-old girl was barefoot, with big bright eyes and wearing a purple dress, but she wasn’t looking well, downcast as she begrudgingly followed the man.

The scarred man entered the temple and his eyes snapped on Chen Changan, at the foot of the statue. “I did not expect to find a beggar here of all places, in this shabby mountain temple.”
