In the hall, many cultivators sat upright and still. The joyful atmosphere was gone for good, and it was replaced with solemnity.

Only Pang Huanyin’s grim voice reverberated across the spacious hall.

She didn’t only come to this place to fulfil Lu Ye’s demand. Her main task was to seize the chance and have a proper talk with Liu Zhenguan to see if the two Hidden Realms could work together to fight the Corpse Race.

She talked about the past and analysed the current situation in the Peerless Continent. Besides narrating the hardship that the people from the bases were going through, she also tried to predict what might happen in the future.

Many people sipped their wine silently and glanced dismissively at her. Some even ignored her altogether.

Although Pang Huanyin could see that Liu Zhenguan was perfunctory and wasn’t willing to give her a positive response, she wouldn’t give up. She continued to persuade him.

Even if there was only a slight possibility of achieving her goal, she wouldn’t want to miss this chance.

“Mount Master Liu, although the three Hidden Realms wander around the Void and are elusive, how long can this go on? Roughly 1,000 years ago, the Peerless Continent was flourishing. Look at where we’re now. If all the Humans in the bases are killed one day, how are we, the people from the Hidden Realms, able to stay away from the calamity? The people in the Hidden Realms and the bases are all Humans, so we’re supposed to work together to fight our enemies. Please consider my suggestion, Mount Master Liu!”

Pang Huanyin’s voice was passionate, and she looked solemn and sincere.

Finally, she added, “If you’re willing to work with us, we don’t mind doing all the hard work. We’ve been putting up with it for 1,000 years, and it’s time to get rid of our enemies once and for all!”

Across from her, Liu Zhenguan put down his cup and sighed. Then, he nodded and said, “You have a point, Palace Master Pang. However, this matter is complicated, so I can’t make a decision on my own. I have to gather the Elders and discuss it. You’ve put me in a tight spot by demanding a reply from me right away.”

Pang Huanyin said, “I’m glad that you’re willing to consider it. In that case, there’ll be hope for all the Humans in the Peerless Continent.”

“But…” Liu Zhenguan squinted and stared fixedly at her. “There’s one thing I don’t understand. Will you mind explaining it?”

Pang Huanyin asked, “What is it?”

“The extrapolation methods to find out the whereabouts of the three Hidden Realms are top secret. How do you know ours? And how did you open our door?”

Just like what Pang Huanyin had said to Lu Ye before, even though Liu Zhenguan looked like a frank person, he was calculating. He didn’t bring up the fact that they had barged into their Hidden Realm during the day, but he would flare up sooner or later.

Breaking into another Hidden Realm was a taboo. If everyone did that, the Hidden Realms would no longer be safe.

Many powerful cultivators from Mount Sumeru had hidden around the welcome party. Apparently, they were well-prepared.

Pang Huanyin knew that if she couldn’t give him a satisfactory answer, she might not even leave this place alive, let alone collaborate with him.

Certainly, those from Mount Sumeru probably wouldn’t kill them. Liu Zhenguan wouldn’t want to offend Purple Star Palace.

    “Elder Xiao!” she called out.

Elder Xiao got to his feet and stepped forward. Then, he fished out a treasure that looked like a ring and presented it to Liu Zhenguan with both hands. “The inheritance in Mount Sumeru has been disrupted, so many records are lost. You might not be aware that the ancestors of Purple Star Palace had helped in the construction of Mount Sumeru’s Hidden Realm. Therefore, our ancestors left behind this thing and the extrapolation method so that we could offer our help if Mount Sumeru falls into danger one day.”

No one knew why the ancestors of Purple Star Palace had kept this ring, but it was definitely not what Elder Xiao had said.

Soon, a cultivator from Mount Sumeru took the ring from him and passed it to Liu Zhenguan, who examined it for a while but still had no idea how it worked.

Elder Xiao went on to say, “We were left with no choice when we barged into Mount Sumeru. But don’t worry. Our ancestors had only left behind this thing, and only I know the extrapolation method of your Hidden Realm. Now that this thing is in your possession, no one can enter Mount Sumeru again without your permission.”

Liu Zhenguan nodded. “Your ancestors were indeed brilliant. This thing is so mysterious that I can’t figure out how it works. I definitely believe what you’ve said, but…”

He stared fixedly at Elder Xiao. “Since this thing is in my hands now, I can rest assured that no one will barge into my Hidden Realm again. But how do I retrieve the extrapolation method? Please tell me.”

Elder Xiao replied, “I’ll keep it a secret, and I won’t pass down the extrapolation method.”

Liu Zhenguan shook his head. “It’s not that I don’t trust you. However, this is an important matter, and no mistake is allowed.”

“What do you think should be done, Mount Master?”

Liu Zhenguan’s face twitched as he said icily, “Only a dead person can keep a secret.”

    Instantly, Pang Huanyin’s gaze darkened.

Elder Xiao nodded. “You have a point, Mount Master. Only a dead person can keep a secret. If you’re willing to agree to the Palace Master’s request, I don’t mind giving my life to you.”

    “Elder Xiao!” Pang Huanyin shouted.

Without looking at her, Elder Xiao shook his head and stared fixedly at Liu Zhenguan. “Mount Master, I’m old and don’t have many years left to live, so I’m not afraid of death. However, you’re still strong and capable, and you’ll have many children and grandchildren. Aren’t you worried about how your offspring will survive? Do you want them to hide in this Hidden Realm forever? The outside world used to belong to Humans, but now most of us are hiding somewhere. The people from the bases don’t even know if they can see the next sunrise. The three Hidden Realms have the capitals, but most of us just want to steer clear of the matter, unwilling to do something for the world. Such people don’t deserve to be the cultivators of Hidden Realms. Our Palace Master is a woman, but she’s determined to get rid of our enemies for good. On the other hand, you’re a man, Mount Master. Are you any weaker than our Palace Master?”

    “Shut up!”

    “How dare you!”

“You must be sick of living, old fart!”

As soon as Elder Xiao finished speaking, the cultivators from Mount Sumeru flew into a rage. At that instant, Spiritual Powers surged within the hall, and the situation became chaotic.

Nevertheless, Elder Xiao hadn’t finished his speech yet. He stepped forward and said menacingly, “Today’s incident is entirely our fault, so I won’t object to it even if you want to kill me to make sure such an incident won’t happen again. However, I hope you’ll open your eyes and look at the current situation in this world. More importantly, please agree to join forces with our Palace Master. That way, I’ll die with no regrets.”

Liu Zhenguan’s face twitched when he heard Elder Xiao’s words.

He just wanted to make sure no one else would know the extrapolation method of their Hidden Realm, but much to his surprise, he was forced to make a decision following the elderly man’s speech.

He couldn’t help but think that Elder Xiao was indeed old and shrewd. Considering the situation, if he killed Elder Xiao, Pang Huanyin would flare up unless he was willing to join forces with Purple Star Palace. In that case, she wouldn’t vent her anger so that the two Hidden Realms would stay on good terms.

However, if he chose not to kill Elder Xiao, he would basically acknowledge that this matter was over, and he couldn’t bring up the topic of the extrapolation method again.

Elder Xiao’s passionate speech made him sound like he was willing to sacrifice himself for the greater good of the world, but he was just forcing Liu Zhenguan to make his stance clear.

Although Liu Zhenguan was furious, he couldn’t blow his top. Just as he was in a dilemma, a female cultivator suddenly rushed into the hall.

He stood up straight and growled, “What’s the matter?”

The female cultivator was the one who served the two ladies on the Spirit Peak. Did anything happen over there?

Naturally, he was alarmed, for a certain woman among the two ladies must be kept safe.

Elder Xiao and Pang Huanyin were both shocked and doubtful when they saw how nervous Liu Zhenguan was.

The female cultivator hurriedly reported, “Mount Master, that lady is satisfied with the guests’ gift, so she wants to come over here to thank them.”

Liu Zhenguan let out a breath of relief. He was pleased that nothing had happened over there, but he wouldn’t want the woman to come to express her gratitude.

“There’s no need for that.” He waved his hand. “Tell them to get some rest.”

A woman like her had to be kept from the public, so he wouldn’t let Pang Huanyin see the woman before the marriage. If Pang Huanyin discovered the woman’s abilities, she might want to snatch her away from him.

Since time immemorial, of the three Hidden Realms, Purple Star Palace had lost the largest number of cultivators in the hands of the Corpse Race. Many of them had killed themselves after getting struck with Source Corpse Poison.

If Pang Huanyin found out that the woman could dispel Source Corpse Poison, she would take the woman away by force.

As such, Liu Zhenguan wouldn’t let Pang Huanyin see the woman.

At the same time, he was curious about the gift, which was presented by those from Purple Star Palace. The woman was so satisfied with it that she had to come here to thank them.

“Mount Master, we can’t stop them…” The female cultivator appeared horrified, and she had no choice but to tell the truth even though there were outsiders in the hall.

“What do you mean that you can’t stop them?” As soon as Liu Zhenguan finished his words, he realised what was going on. Fluctuations of Spiritual Powers could be felt coming from outside the hall, and some clanging sounds were getting closer. It seemed that some people were approaching them while in a fight.

A shocked Pang Huanyin stealthily sent a signal to Elder Xiao, who hurriedly came back and stood beside her.

Just as she was ready to whisper to Lu Ye, she saw the man looking meditatively at the entrance of the hall.

“What’s wrong, Yi Ye?” she asked.

Suddenly, a smile played on Lu Ye’s lips. “Nothing.”

Pang Huanyin was startled. Ever since she got to know Lu Ye, she had never seen the man smile. She initially thought that he was cold and distant, so it surprised her when he smiled. Moreover, there seemed to be some underlying meanings behind his smile.

While she was puzzled, two figures appeared at the entrance of the hall. The female cultivators behind them looked embarrassed. It was apparent that they had suffered a setback.

They had been trying to stop the two women, but their effort was futile. That was because one of them was unimaginably powerful. Liu Zhenguan thought that his arrangement was impeccable, but the woman with double blades could easily break through their defences.
