Inside the pavilion, Gu Changge was the only one who was calmly drinking his tea. Hun Yuanjun and Zhuo Fengxie were visibly uncomfortable.

This was especially true of Hun Yuanjun, the one who had fought against the White Bone Ancestor King and suffered as a result. He was especially restless and uneasy.

He could not fathom just how powerful Gu Changge was. However, as he stood before Gu Changge, he could sense the latter’s unfathomable aura.

Despite being right in front of him, they felt as if they were separated from him by the vastness of Spacetime. It was as if he did not belong to any one Spacetime at all.

[It’s true. The mysterious Young Master Gu possesses power beyond imagination…] Hun Yuanjun exclaimed to himself.

Zhuo Fengxie had met Gu Changge a long time ago, so he was not taken aback now.

Without telling any of their Clansmen about it, they came to see Gu Changge today to apologise for yesterday’s incident.

For beings like them, a matter like this was humiliating. They could not bring it up.

On the other hand, Gu Changge did not care about these things.

After receiving her instructions, the Spirit Empress came over and served them tea. She also brought over two chairs.

However, neither Zhuo Fengxiu nor Hun Yuanjun took a seat. They continued to stand.

“We were rash yesterday. I hope you’ll forgive us, Young Master Gu.”

Zhuo Fengxie was not as imperious as Hun Yuanjun, so he was the first to speak up.

Since he had spoken, Hun Yuanjun also cupped his hands and said, “Thank you for showing mercy by not pressing the issue yesterday, Young Master Gu.”

They both took out a box made out of Purple Gold Copper and set them on the table. It was the compensation they offered as an apology.

Purple Gold Copper was a special kind of metal that could be used to make the weapons cultivators used, as well as a Civilisation’s Supreme Treasure.

Since the boxes were made out of such a valuable material, it was clear that they contained something extraordinary as well.

Furthermore, both men showed signs of reluctance when they brought the boxes out.

Gu Changge simply glanced at the two boxes without paying them any further attention.

“I am not a petty man. Yesterday’s incident wasn’t a big deal. You two need not worry about it.” Seemingly unbothered, he simply smiled faintly.

Upon hearing that, both Zhuo Fengxie and Hun Yuanjun visibly exhaled in relief.

They were concerned that Gu Changge might insist on holding them accountable. After all, they were the ones at fault.

If things blew up, they were the ones who would be humiliated.

Naturally, the two had a discussion before they came over to see Gu Changge. The visit was not just for the sake of giving him an apology.

They mainly wanted to suss out Gu Changge’s attitude.

From the looks of it now, Gu Changge did not seem to harbour much ill will. They had been overly sensitive and paranoid.

“Truth be told, apart from apologising for yesterday, we also came here today because there’s something we wish to ask you, Young Master Gu… It’s something that has been on my mind all along.” Zhuo Fengxie no longer hesitated. He bluntly voiced his confusion and doubt. Since Gu Changge did not show much hostility, Zhuo Fengxie figured he did not need to worry about Gu Changge striking against him anymore.

Furthermore, Hun Yuanjun was with him.

If Gu Changge did suddenly attack, their combined power was enough for them to escape.

Breeze Ancient City was within the Zhuo Clan’s territory.

If a fight did break out, the experts from Zhuo Clan would instantly pick up on that.

“You wish to ask me why I’ve come to the Immortal Spirit Civilisation, correct?” Zhuo Feng Xie’s question did not startle Gu Changge. He smiled faintly before standing up.

Upon seeing this, Zhuo Fengxie and Hun Yuanjun’s expressions changed slightly. In unison, they tensed up and took a few steps back.

“That is indeed the question we all wish to ask. You have unfathomable power, Young Master Gu, and yet you abruptly came to the Immortal Spirit Civilisation. If we don’t know what your intentions are, I’m afraid all the Clans will continue to feel anxious. Please understand, Young Master Gu.” Zhuo Fengxie said a little solemnly.

It was easy enough to understand. They were akin to animals of the forest who all had their respective territories. One day, an animal far more powerful than them suddenly barged into their territory and surveyed the land without qualms.

How could they be at ease without understanding what the powerful animal was after?

This was the question that concerned Zhuo Fengxie and Hun Yuanjun.

They were among the most powerful beings in the Immortal Spirit Civilisation. The others did not know that Gu Changge was not an honoured guest invited over by the Zhuo Clan. If they knew the truth, they would be panicking even more than Zhuo Fengxie and Hun Yuanjun.

Upon hearing this, Gu Changge could not resist chuckling.

He asked in amusement, “I said I came here by coincidence during my travels, but you don’t believe me. What if I told you I came here to subdue the Immortal Spirit Civilisation?”

As soon as he said that, Zhuo Fengxie’s and Hun Yuanjun’s expressions changed. They were shocked for words.

If Gu Changge’s presence had not made it impossible for anything to leak out, in that instant, all of the Star Territories and universes would have gone through an upheaval.

“W-What do you mean by that, Young Master Gu?”

    “Are you making a joke?”

As expected of them who were among the most powerful beings of their respective Clans, Zhuo Fengxie and Hun Yuanjun could maintain their composure a lot better than other cultivators.

Though they were thunderstruck, they swiftly composed themselves and began to grimly question Gu Changge.

He wanted to subdue the Immortal Spirit Civilisation? How arrogant did someone have to be to say such a thing? An entire Civilisation was unlike a Family or a Clan. It was the result of numerous Forces’ cumulative efforts over countless epochs and eras.

Though the Zhuo Clan and the Hun Clan were amongst the top Forces in the Immortal Spirit Civilisation, they dared not claim to have enough power and legacy to make them invincible.

Many of the enigmatic Forces kept an extremely low profile. Unless a crucial moment came along, no one knew just how strong they were.

Furthermore, a Civilisation would have survived numerous calamities across vast stretches of Spacetime. It was related to countless worlds.

No matter how powerful Gu Changge was, he was but one being. It was unrealistic for a single being to subdue an entire Civilisation.

To subdue and to destroy were two entirely different things. In their eyes, it would not be difficult for Gu Changge to destroy a Civilisation if he wanted to. However, what he said was to subdue, not to destroy. That was far more troublesome.

“Do you think I’m joking with you?” Gu Changge glanced at them with a faint smile.

Zhuo Fengxie and Hun Yuanjun exchanged glances. It was a tough question to answer. Nevertheless, they both began to look grim.

After living for so long, they were discerning when it came to numerous matters.

Since Gu Changge had declared it to their faces, it meant that he was confident. He was not just making claims at random. And, most importantly, they did not know about Gu Changge’s origins.

They did not know the kind of means or power he had behind him.

“During this time, I’ve taken a good look at the Immortal Spirit Civilisation. Even though I have not entered the River of Time to track its past, I more or less have a clear understanding of it. Though the composition of the Immortal Spirit Civilisation seems complex, it is quite simple.”

“Though it seems like the Zhuo Clan and the Hun Clan have been fighting fiercely all these years to try and usurp the other, when it matters, both Clans are able to come to an agreement and cooperate. Meanwhile, the Wu Clan and the Gou Clan keep a low profile. They rarely get into fights with each other, but the core issue that had started since the time of their Ancestors has been passed down. Sooner or later, this issue would come to a head, and only either of the two Clans would survive…”

Gu Changge slowly walked to the window and stared at Breeze Ancient City with a light smile.

He knew that both Zhuo Fengxie and Hun Yuanjun thought what he said was something impossible to achieve.

The Immortal Spirit Civilisation was unlike the Spirit Ruin True World.

The Spirit Ruin Royal Family ruled over the Spirit Ruin True World, and it had only just reached the ranks of an Ancient True World.

The division of power within that True World was simple enough: the other Forces there all came under the rule of the Spirit Ruin Royal Family. Therefore, as long as Gu Changge had the Spirit Ruin Royal Family following his bidding, he could easily gain control over the entire Spirit Ruin True World.

However, the division of power within the Immortal Spirit Civilisation was more complex. They had a lot more time to build up their strength.

Just the Zhuo, Hun, Gou, and Wu Clans alone had been standing on equal footing for numerous epochs now. Apart from them, there were many other Forces, including some that were hidden. Perhaps the accumulated power of a single one of them would not be enough to go up against the Zhuo Clan or the Hun Clan.

However, there were a vast number of them, too many to count.

Hun Yuanjun was stunned. Only the Founding Ancestors and other Ancestors such as them would be aware of these things.

Gu Changge had not been here for very long, so why was he privy to such information?

[He must’ve looked into the evolution of the Immortal Spirit Civilisation and detected the flaws in all the Forces here.]

    He was thunderstruck.

The evolution of a Civilisation was a complicated matter. Succinctly put, it involved using all the changes throughout Spacetime to deduce the general direction of a particular Civilisation.

Zhuo Fengxie was thinking hard. All manner of thoughts flooded through his mind. He could not resist saying, “Since you’ve said so, Young Master Gu, it means you must’ve formulated a plan.”

He and Hun Yuanjun were shrewd enough to know why Gu Changge had said this to them.

    It was clearly a signal.

In the days to come, Gu Changge would truly make his move against the Immortal Spirit Civilisation.

It seems during this time, Gu Changge did as they suspected. Though he claimed to be merely travelling around, he was observing the entire Civilisation and waiting for a chance to strike.

“Haha. I’m sure you’re both intelligent. Having lived so long, there are things you will surely understand without me stating them aloud.”

“I want to subdue the Immortal Spirit Civilisation. If anyone tries to stop me, I will eradicate that person from existence at all costs.” Gu Changge remarked casually with a faint smile.

However, the words he said made Zhuo Fengxie and Hun Yuanjun sweat. Chills ran down their spines. They were reeling from shock and fear.

Evidently, he wanted them to declare their positions.

“Naturally, unless absolutely necessary, I don’t wish to resort to extreme measures. The Zhuo and Hun Clans have deep roots. You have amassed a great legacy. It would be a pity for everything to be destroyed just like that…”

Gu Changge chuckled before continuing, “I know you are frequently in contact with the Primary Hope Civilisation. However, they are billions of lightyears away. No matter what happens to the Immortal Spirit Civilisation, they won’t be able to help.”

Since things had come to this, Gu Changge could not be bothered to hide anything.

In the eyes of Hun Yuanjun and Zhuo Fengxie, contacting the Primary Hope Civilisation was simply the final, desperate measure they could take up.

The moment Gu Changge finished speaking, the other two felt the changes in their surroundings.

It felt as if in that brief moment, they had been brought across a great distance to a boundless void.

There seemed to be no rules or the concept of time here. Dao Techniques and divine abilities did not exist either.

A sparse grey fog swept in and covered every corner. They could not sense any Dao in this place or any other kind of energy.

“Is this the true Heavenless Lawless Land?”

Zhuo Fengxie’s expression changed drastically. He turned around in fear. He saw an endless stretch of grey fog sweeping over everything.

    *Rumble*

Hun Yuanjun’s expression was stormy. Light emitted from his cheekbones, and a gust of Spiritual Energy rushed out of his forehead to destroy this space.

Alas, an even more terrifying power bore down upon them and pushed back all of his Spiritual Energy. At the same time, horrifying cracks appeared on his body. It was as if he would crumble apart at any second.

“This isn’t a real place. It’s a place he created with his will. Spiritual Energy is useless against it… The more you resist, the greater the backlash.” Zhuo Fengxie reminded when he noticed Hun Yuanjun’s discontent. The latter seemed to have wanted to continue his efforts.

It was hard to imagine just how strong a space created out of will had to be to hold them in.

This was many times more difficult than creating a world.

To a certain extent, Dao Realm experts could take on many forms. They could transform the state of matter and could not be restrained by a created world.

Beings of their level could easily create life and change matter.

The veil of fate no longer shrouded such beings. They had long since unearthed their fate and had full control over it.

However, these two were still a long way away from that level.

At last, Hun Yuanjun realised that the disparity between them and Gu Changge was too large. He stopped trying to resist.

[What does Young Master Gu mean by this?] Zhuo Fengxie exclaimed to himself. He knew the two of them had underestimated Gu Changge.

With just his will alone, he was able to take them away from the real world and keep them here in this indescribable place without any Principles or restrictions.

It seemed like something only those at the Peak of the Ancestral Dao Realm could do.

In other words, Gu Changge was not too far from the apex point of the Dao Realm (Quasi-Dao Realm to Ancestral Dao Realm). Perhaps he was already there.

[Such a terrifying being had come to the Immortal Spirit Civilisation…] Upon thinking about this, Zhuo Fengxie could not stop the bitterness from creeping onto his face.

In the vastness of the Expanse Domain, if a being like this entered a certain territory, even Supreme Civilisations had to be on their guard as if their greatest enemy had come.

“Though it would be troublesome for me to kill beings like you, it won’t be hard. Still, I value talent, so I wish to give you a choice…” Gu Changge’s silhouette appeared nearby. He remained as calm and unruffled as ever.
