Everyone flinched at the screams and rushed over, only to find a bloody corpse. The body was intact, except for the chest being blown out by something.
[The creatures of the third floor? This trial won’t be easy.]
Then there’s the common cultivation they all shared, and now they found out someone had fallen victim already.
[The creatures here are strong!]
Mo Wentian turned to the loafing Immortal Emperor in his head. “Geezer, a little help would be nice.”
“Boy, my hands are tied. That Chen Changan is a monster. He sealed all your strength, making it impossible for me to raise your cultivation with my secret soul art.”
“I knew you were useless.” Mo Wentian sighed and clenched the iron sword as his eyes snapped everywhere.
Chen Changan observed the cultivators scramble about, only to gather in one place. They were more afraid of the creatures than their neighbor.
Chen Changan wanted to avoid this, so he teleported them randomly across the third floor with a little divine intervention to face the creatures alone.
Fa Tian eyed his surroundings, his instincts warning him of the danger lurking just beyond his vision.
“Come out!” He snapped. He wasn’t one to wait for danger to come and take his life, but fight to the bitter end.
He slashed with the iron blade, tearing the haze.
He felt it make contact, but his grip on the blade loosened.
A deep growl came from the darkness, filled with rage and malice.
Fa Tian regripped his blade and jumped back just as a head jumped out of the black abyss.
It grew into a four-meter large creature with a huge body and a maw overfilled with exposed jagged and long fangs on a disproportionally large head.
Energy waves oozed out of it with incredible power, its body covered in bone plates that leaked revolting slime to protect its vitals. Completing the image was a sharp, serrated tail two meters long, perfect for impaling prey.
This beast claimed the first victim!
Fa Tian frowned. He had never seen such a creature. Despite how hideous it was, it gave the feeling of being perfect for its purpose.
His strike just now hit the beast’s exoskeleton, causing no damage.
Hiss!
The creature glared at him and lunged with incredible speed.
The same scene happened all over the floor as more and more cultivators were engaged in a fight for their lives.
The audience, overlooking their bitter struggle, felt their nerve failing.
[What the hell are those things?]
They were terrifying and unlike any demons or monsters they had ever seen. Besides the insane speed, they also had great power and even healed.
What really shook their spines to the marrow was the cruel and horrifying methods these creatures used in battle.
It was like they were born for slaughter. They struck hard and aimed for vitals. No mercy, no leniency. It made one’s skin crawl.
Either their claw went through a cultivator’s forehead, split another’s head open, or their tails punched through someone’s chest and impaled their heart. Bisecting cultivators wasn’t out either.
These were no battles between cultivators and Demons. These were ruthless, to the death, and then there’s the constant gushing blood being thrown all over the place. Any cultivator watching these scenes felt they were the twisted imagination of some sick person brought to life.
The only comforting thought was that the participants would be revived afterward. It was the only reason they even thought about attempting this trial in the future.
Chen Changan smiled at the slaughter unfolding before his eyes. He was mighty pleased with the floor’s planning.
These creatures were none other than the Aliens from the horror movies back on Earth. Bringing them forth with Creation, he dubbed these things as abominations, tasked with ending all life.
By pitting the abominations against cultivators, he helped the people by giving them life and death experiences, what they lacked the most, to improve their future advancements.
That’s not all. The abominations came from Creation and the experience the cultivators got from killing them was actually the power Chen Changan bestowed upon them in the Absolute Domain.
This power was temporary, taken back when the trials ended.
It was just like a video game. Getting experience, leveling up, and feeling one’s cultivation become stronger in every aspect.
It had a subtle effect of making them inherently stronger as well.
Chen Changan went all out this time, all to milk them of Domain Points.
The scene proved he made the right choice.
The rest of the floors were set up with the same concept in mind. The higher one went, the more and stronger abominations they had to face. And the more it tested one’s strength.
The brutal trials the Trial Tower offered made sure that only a handful, if not fewer, passed it.
Chen Changan was an observer and did not interfere with the trials. Everything was left to the cultivators’ choosing.
Fa Tian, Bai Yue, Qin Xiuwen, and others with high cultivation were tough even without their usual power or magic treasures to back them up.
Killing abominations and getting those 100 experience points for the next floor was easy.
The rest had to work to the bone, fighting one bloody battle after another.
Taking a step back and approaching it calmly would reveal that passing the trial in one day was doable.
Not to mention killing one normal abomination netted 5 XP, while the elites gave 20. As for the top abominations, they were worth 100.
The contestants felt for themselves how much stronger they became with each kill.
Maybe by reaching level 4, their cultivation would also rise to the Golden Core Stage!
The extraordinary ways of the Trial Tower left them all in shock!
