    POV: Violet

“Phew, thanks for the bath, Violet. I feel so refreshed now.”

    “I see, I’m glad.”

Kriemhild came towards me, as I was drying her mucus-stained clothes near the heater, while drying her hair, expressing her gratitude.

By the way, she seemed to have prepared a change of clothes for her visit to Shiki, so she wore those.

As for Silva, I asked Gray to take him to the church, where he could wash himself. At first, Silva showed hostility when he saw me, but…

‘Shut up, if you continue to dirty our house with your mucus, I’ll throw you out naked.’

When I persuaded (threatened) him, he obediently complied.

I guess talking things through can really get your point across.

Maybe if I had explained things properly during my school days, I wouldn’t have to go through with the duel. But then again, I might not have met Lord Clo. I guess what happened is fine in the end…

…Still, was it just my imagination, or did Gray seem somehow dissatisfied with Silva? Anyway, when I asked Kriemhild why they were in a place where monsters appear…

“Ahaha, snowy roads are really scary. It’s all white, so I lost my way!”

    That’s what she said.

I don’t think the road from the neighboring town to Shiki is easy to get lost on though… But there’s no helping what happened. Sometimes things just happen like that. I’ll report this to Lord Clo for now and ask him if there’s a way to avoid getting lost.

“By the way, is Mr. Clo working outside? I guess he’ll be back by evening.”

“No, he’s out on the meeting of Territory Lords until tomorrow night, so it’s just me and Gray.”

“I see. It’s really tough being a Lord.”

As Kriemhild listened, she approached the heater where the laundry was drying, and warmed herself with a relaxed expression, exhaling ‘Fuwaa..’ in content. I wonder if she’s still cold even though she has just gotten out of the bath.

“Sorry for coming at such timing. I wanted to come over to visit, but a lot of things happened and I ended up coming this time of the year…”

“No worries. I’m very happy that my friend came all the way here.”

When I smiled, Kriemhild smiled back happily.

Her smile was still so different from mine that it made me a little jealous.

“Oh yeah, now that you’re here, you should just stay over.”

    “Eh, is that okay?”

“You don’t have money on hand, right? It’s been lonely without Lord Clo today. You can stay if you don’t mind it, Kriemhild.”

“Thank you, Violet! I’ll take advantage of your offer.”

    “Yeah, it’s fine.”

When I agreed, Kriemhild happily took my hand and swung it around, showing off how overjoyed she was.

I would love to emulate this honest and carefree personality of hers.

Besides, I’m really lonely without Lord Clo. I really want to see him soon.

“But what should we do about Seyfried? He probably hates me…”

“Ahaha, you’re right. I think things would improve if you guys talked it out though…”

“I feel like he would refuse if I told him that he could stay over like you.”

There’s a room available, so as long as we tidy it up, he can stay over.

But Silva is one of the people who became hostile towards me while allying themselves with Mary after the duel. Judging from his reaction in the infirmary and earlier, he still dislikes me.

It might be for the best to take him to an inn like I did to Mary.

    “What’s going on!?”

    “Eh, Mary!?”

Then, Mary, the person I had challenged to a duel, suddenly opened the door… No, the window, and called out to us. She did not have the usual affectionate air about her.

I wanted to ask her why she suddenly shouted, but more importantly, it was cold outside, so I wanted her to quickly close the window.

“When I came here, you looked like you wanted me to leave as quickly as possible, but now you’re asking Kriemhild to stay over…!”

It’s difficult to welcome someone who suddenly showed up at the beginning of the year and asked Lord Clo to ‘teach her how to love’.

Besides, even though we’re friends, not only am I closer to Kriemhild, Lord Clo isn’t here right now… still, Mary’s personality is very different from when she was at school.

Is she really that desperate for a friend…?

“That’s not fair, I also want to stay over at my friend’s place, and have a pajama party, take a bath together and fondle each other other’s bodies, tell each other hundred tales and curse each other. I want to do things friends do!”

“Mary, that sounds a bit weird.”

    “Eh, it’s common in books I’ve read…?”

“Ahaha, I want to hear what those books were actually about.”

I’m curious too. I’ve thought about this before too. Just what books was Mary reading? At the very least, they are certainly different from any books I’ve read.

But if Mary’s saying it so confidently, maybe it’s common sense that’s what friends do?

Cursing at each other shows ones bond, and apparently there’s a saying in the eastern countries called ‘naked friendship.’ In other words, perhaps it’s better for us to do what Mary is saying if we want to become good friends?

“So you’re saying we should take a bath in our pajamas and fondle each other, and tell one hundred tales?”

“Violet, you can’t just mix everything together.”

Yes, even I found it weird despite being the one to say it. Besides, I don’t feel comfortable bathing with other people, even if they’re the same sex, so I’ll politely decline Mary’s request. But…

“You can stay if you want, Mary.”

    “Huh, is that okay?”

“Yeah, we have a room available.”

There’s nothing wrong with Mary staying over.

I feel a bit hesitant bring her over, but with Kriemhild here now, our conversation won’t get too awkward. Also, with her here, it’ll be fine even if Silva has something to say to me.

I would also like to understand Mary’s feelings a little better… although I’m not sure if I’ll be able to interact with her well myself.

“Thank you! Yay, we can have a girls’ night!”

    “Girls’ night?”

I wonder what’s this ‘girls’ night’?

We’re not young enough to be called girls, so it probably does not mean literally ‘little girls’ but she looks happy, so it must be something really fun.

Still, is this the smile His Highness was entranced by?

It’s certainly an innocent smile that shows true happiness from the bottom of her heart. It’s a charming smile that I wouldn’t be able to see in the past.

… If I could smile like that, would Lord Clo find me charming too? I can’t smile like Mary or Kriemhild, after all.

Now that I think about it, I’m a bit curious about this so-called ‘girls’ night’, but for now I have to say this.

“But when Lord Clo comes back, you can’t staying the night here. Got it? If by some chance you do stay and do something like before, I’ll kick you out straight away.”

    “Ah, yes ma’am.”
