As I held Lady Violet’s hand and expressed my hopes about wanting to live a happy, long life with her, something that I thought on a daily basis, Mrs. Vert said as she stood at the door in her usual witch-like outfit and tapped on it with her cane, looking daringly in my direction.

And whispered in my ear.

In a voice so quiet that no one else could hear, but so close that that I could sense her desire to be heard, Lady Violet called my name.

As I stood there, confused by the sudden turn of events, Lady Violet moved away from my ear and returned to her position in front of me.

Her face was still red, but this time she was looking at me.

Lady Violet smiled with the expression of a child who had just learned how to be mischievous.

The expression on her face was one I hadn’t seen before, and it was so captivating, I forgot to say anything return.
