“— Well then, thank you for your cooperation with the investigation.”
After we were done talking about the incident, Mrs. Vert wrote down everything we had talked about with a floating piece of paper and pen. Apparently it’s a magic that automatically writes whatever you want to write. It’s a really cool magic that feels like something the Archwizard would use. And it was, in fact, used by the Archwizard.
“I guess it really was the result of mana outburst. I think we can conclude that the reason was mana running out of control.”
When asked how this incident would be dealt with, Mrs. Vert answered that since both Apricot and Silva specialized in dark magic, the conclusion of the investigation was that their magic spontaneously self-activated. There would only be a warning for the people involved, and whatever happened would be treated as an accident rather than an incident. It would also not be reported publicly and would be kept as a local incident.
Hearing this, Silva seemed uncomfortable, but Ms. Mary secretly held his hand, shook her head and said with a smile, ‘It’s not your fault, Silva’… I can’t tell if that’s just her true self or if she’s still out of it.
“Fufu, but it was fun to hear all sorts of things.”
Glancing at them, Mrs. Vert smiled like a grown woman lovingly watching romance between children.
To be honest, the questions were oddly off-topic, and I feel like the majority of them were just Mrs. Vert’s way of teasing us. While the questions weren’t technically incorrect for the incident analysis. Like questioning whether I had been brainwashed or dismissing testimony from close friends as invalid. Those questions were just of poor quality.
Why did I have to shout out loud that my love for Ms. Violet was true during the Q&A session about the incident? It was fine because it’s true and I got to see Ms. Violet blushing and looking cute though.
“Oh, and Clo, I have a few more questions. Is that okay?’
Seeing that Ms. Mary was talking with Lady Violet and the others, Mr. Vert asked me a question in a quiet voice… She might have been using ‘Perception Obstruction’ too.
“… I don’t mind.”
“I can’t really tell you… that you don’t need to be so cautious. I must have made you endure many embarrassing experiences.”
“So you were aware of that.”
However, if it’s a question about the accident, I have to answer it. If she’s doubting my mental state due to the influence of the curse, I can just shout out my love one more time. No, let’s stop there. Neither I nor Lady Violet can handle it mentally.
“Do you and Miss Mary happen to be from the same hometown?”
“Pardon?”
However, what she asked was a little unexpected.
She asked me whether Ms. Mary and I were from the same hometown, but I don’t even know where she’s from. If we were to talk about our past lives, we did live in the same country called Japan, so in general terms it could be said that we are from the same hometown, but I doubt Mrs. Vert means it that way.
“No, we aren’t. To start with, I don’t even know where Ms. Mary is from. Maybe we lived at the same place and met as kids… I can’t say that this is impossible, but I doubt it.”
“I see. Then what about Kriemhild?”
“I also don’t know where she’s from. I think she said she was from… somewhere in the countryside?”
Even based on Ring of Fire and her own words, I still don’t know much about Ms. Kriemhild’s hometown. I remember that it was a rural area and there weren’t many children of her age, but… Speaking of which, was it okay for Ms. Kriemhild and Ms. Mary to not go back to their hometowns for the New Year?
Many students probably go home during winter break. Silva is an orphan, so I can understand his circumstances though…
“But why are you asking that out of nowhere?”
“… Well, you guys’ bodies are—“
“Please don’t say that our bodies are so wonderful it made you think going to a place that nurtured us would be a paradise for you.”
“I can’t say anything then!”
What is this pervert saying so openly?
…Still, there was a strange pause in her answer. I feel like Mrs. Vert is strangely suspicious of us. Although it’s mostly hidden by her usual perversion.
“To start with, I’m definitely from the same hometown as Gen and Sumi, but what do you think of them?”
“They’re not bad, but not enough to excite me… Hmm, I guess it’s not so easy to attain a wonderful body…”
When I asked her what she thought about Gen and the others, who were away because of the Q&A session that was her answer… It still feels strange. She certainly wasn’t excited about my older siblings, but it felt like she was hiding something else.
“So, as an apology, could you please let me touch your body?”
“What are you talking about?”
This was a huge jump in context.
What hoops did she jump through to conclude that I had to let her touch my body?
“Look, I’m supposed to be the Viscountess, right? And being the Archmage gives me a high position too, right? So this is a punishment for trying to silence me.”
“Don’t just use your position to take advantage of the situation.”
“Then, how about if it’s an advance payment for investigating the principal?”
“Nope, not falling for that one either.”
“If you let me touch you, the quality of my investigation might improve…”
“Please stop creeping up to me while saying that!”
Very, very slowly… Mrs. Vert closed the distance between us.
I don’t know if she’s serious about this, or if she sensed my suspicions and is trying to fool me. I would prefer it to be the latter, but her eyes are so serious that I can only see her as a pervert who’s trying to touch my body any chance she gets.
“Could you please not get too close to Lord Clo?”
Just as I was troubled by what to do, Lady Violet barged into out conversation and interrupted us.
It’s a little pathetic, but I was saved thanks to her interrupting us.
“Oops, my bad. I might have gotten too close.”
Seeing that Lady Violet interrupted us, Mrs. Vert took a step back to distance herself and apologized. As usual, she doesn’t lose her bearing as the Arcwizard and the Viscountess in front of the people except for me…. I’m not very happy about that special treatment.
“… Mrs. Vert, you once said that you like well-proportioned bodies. Do you perhaps like Lord Clo’s body too…?”
Just as I was thinking that, Lady Violet suddenly got to the heart of the matter.
I don’t know if she was listening in on our conversation or observing Mrs. Vert, but Lady Violet seemed to be suspicious of her.
… My response will change depending on whether she thinks Mrs. Vert is trying to cheat on her Husband, targeting me or if she thinks I’m also being complacent and trying to cheat with Mrs. Vert, so I can’t act carelessly–
“Let me just say that I love Lord Clo’s body way more than you and I have no intention of giving it to anybody else.”
… What should I do? I can’t act carelessly.
“Oh? I don’t mind you boasting, but mere words mean nothing.”
“… In other words, what should I do?”
“You just have to prove it in a way you want, Violet.”
“… Hmm, should I kiss his body?”
“Please stop.”
If she did that, the trauma of being touched by Mrs. Vert would disappear, but it would take me a while to recover from the shame of having it being done to me in front of Gray and the others.
“… Well then, at the end of this Q&A, I’ll write, ‘The Heartfield couple are happily married and don’t mind kissing in public’.
“I have no problems with that.”
“Please don’t.”
