Chapter 180, Against Balls, Better Use Chidori
by SilavinTranslator: Tamon
Of the many arts nurtured within him, the dazzling Grand Ripple Enigma was something none trained in the Qi Refining Realm, while Celestial Entropy pointed at the heat death of the universe. These two cultivation methods’ existence pulled the wool over the eyes of all cultivators in regard to the cultivation method he trained the most.
Wang Qi didn’t focus on the two famous cultivation methods that sported the best power early on, nor Evolution Chart that boasted full control. His diligence had been invested in two average Myriad Arts Sect mental arts—Divine Hexagram Computation and Book of Geometry.
Bookworm Wang knew his position from the very start. His best domain wasn’t straightforwardness or evolution, but computation.
[I never planned on going head-to-head with blade arts.]
“Ruining clothes was all to imitate Fermi in using the threads to calculate the gravitational field’s variations.
“Taking deep breaths to control my heart rate was just so I could count the time.
“I went as far as inferring a sword energy from Navier-Stokes equations just to remove any interference and facilitate the calculations on the air movement all around me.”
[My true aim is to calculate the pattern behind this guy’s fluctuating gravitational constant then figure out the Lagrange point!]
Lagrange point was the position where the influence of two masses’ gravitational forces cancel out, exacting no pull on the small object placed in that position.
Wang Qi saw Ai Changyuan and this celestial body as the two sources of gravitational forces. The Lagrange point between them was where Ai Changyuan’s Universal Pull was neutralized by Divine Province’s.
[I just need to find that spot…]
Wang Qi’s blade trailed another blade wave, his aura feeble as he focused all his attention on figuring out the literal turning point of this fight.
Spiritual power rushed through Wang Qi’s yin-yang diagrams without stopping. Every time one of them flashed meant a simple math operation was completed. In a short while, Wang Qi did thousands of mental acrobatics.
The youth closed his eyes before flashing them open. The blinking was enough to change his worldview. Wang Qi saw three axes that connected his Dantian with the earth, making everything abstract and defined.
“There!”
Wang Qi’s calculations reached a conclusion.
Ai Changyuan’s heart sank as Wang Qi’s movements shifted to put him in a certain spot.
[The neutral point! He figured it out!]
Over the last thousand years, striving for the neutral point, or Lagrange point, was a must for all cultivators specialized in gravity.
Ai Changyuan’s first choice wasn’t to fly over and block Wang Qi. It would only turn their fight into a deadlock, and going around in circles. The Ai youth increased the scope of his actions, to amplify the interference to the area’s gravitational force.
[You’re after the neutral point while I’ll interfere with the calculations and mess up your plan!]
[Everything’s so I can unleash my true skill before you get to unleash yours.]
The wager was set. The two geniuses staked the outcome on this single blow.
The surrounding gravity was growing chaotic and Wang Qi’s blood was becoming more and more erratic. His ears buzzed, and his eyesight split into unnatural color areas as the world seemed to fade away. Only two presences grew stronger and stronger.
Divine Province and Ai Changyuan.
In Wang Qi’s perception, Ai Changyuan stopped appearing human, turned into a celestial body in opposition to Divine Province’s. His gravitational pull and Divine Province’s formed an intricate and abstruse system.
This was the power of Transcendent’s descendant.
[But not enough to win.]
The bookworm’s confident smile never faded. His certainty in his calculations and the results was unshakable.
[Just a step forwards… then another…]
Suddenly, all the pressure was gone, shedding off all the shackles.
There!
[Ha-ha-ha, this is where the gravity is at balance, the legendary Lagrange point!]
Here, at this moment, Wang Qi was free of any influence. The gravitational forces around him could be erratic all they wanted because it could never affect him. Released from all external influence, Wang Qi’s powerful cultivator heart thumped once more, sorting out his blood flow. He adjusted his movements to follow the Lagrange point’s motion he calculated. Then he looked back.
The first thing that took his attention was the dark sphere.
“You can drop the ball now!” Wang Qi let out an odd yelp, using all his strength to slash. An entropy amplification wave turned into a crescent Saber Energy at the gravitational ball. Upon contact, the Saber Energy got swallowed up while the sphere lost its shell’s stability, breaking apart after a few shakes.
[Nice, he’s out of big moves and lost his chance to follow up with one!]
[Now’s the time! The annoying Celestial Entropy spiritual power on his blade is used up.]
With the vanishing of the gravitational ball, the Lagrange point shifted closer to Ai Changyuan. Wang Qi used his toes to follow it on instinct. Ai Changyuan’s eyes flashed, using Universal Pull to throw himself forward.
Wang Qi’s blade glinted with every slash, sending Saber Energy all over.
[Now’s White Marsh True Array Divider? Too late!]
Ai Changyuan shouted, knowing the time to end this was nigh.
Wang Qi chuckled. “Take this, Mad Thunder Shuddering the Ninth Heaven!”
His blade chopped nine times based on Hyperbolic geometry, and the strikes chained together until the tenth strike, which added silver lightning between them all. In a flash, the electric Saber Energies overlapped into a bolt of lightning that shot for Ai Changyuan.
Ai Changyuan didn’t count on defending at first, since he could just deflect Grand Ripple Enigma’s physical waves with Universal Pull. Wang Qi didn’t know Searing Annihilating Heaven Palm so he couldn’t use ranged attack with Celestial Entropy. Defense was pointless. However, the strike resulting from an instantaneous electromagnetic field was sharp and powerful, covering all wavelengths and spreading further. It would cause severe damage once it pierced the gravitational field.
A figure flew backward along with constant flashes of lightning. Ai Changyuan crashed hard into the arena’s barrier, then slid comically like a cartoon character.
The tense fight made it hard for anyone to laugh and break the pervading silence.
After the chaotic gravitational pull was gone, only now the people snapped to it. [Wang Qi won!]
[This guy beat Transcendent’s descendant, the invincible Ai Changyuan!]
The Foundation Establishment judge landed on the arena, judging Ai Changyuan unfit to continue and declaring Wang Qi the winner.
After the judgment, every freshman applauded. Even Langde Immortal Institute didn’t hold back.
“The fight was awesome!”
