Chapter 193, Guess It’s Back to Solving Problems to Cool Off
by SilavinTranslator: Tamon
In this world, spiritual energy, or energy’s exponent, was a variable.
To the common eye, it meant nothing, but a Dao seeker begged to differ. This meager extra element made it that much harder for them to understand the world than if it were Earth.
Take special relativity. Albert Einstein just had to show Newton’s classical mechanics’ variation at high speeds, while Divine Providence’s Supreme Lord Einstein had to tackle the added issues with the system, entropy, and many other fields.
As spiritual energy moved and was uneven, to the Divine Province cultivators, the ‘spiritual energy value a constant one’ condition was akin to the ideal experimental conditions in Earth’s universe, that of ‘a truly flat and smooth surface.’
Earth’s physics formulas, to the Divine Province, resulted when spiritual energy value was at an ideal one. Wang Qi could then use them for the simplest experiments.
Nevertheless, since there were no conditions to verify the theory, Wang Qi had to put them on hold.
Cultivating Celestial Hymn Odyssey, Wang Qi could ‘see’ electromagnetism. Using magical arts to control it let him conduct experiments all by his lonesome, an Earth scientist’s wet dream.
Wang Qi used gauge theory last night to construct a new spiritual power field and showcase its ingenious effects. Only then was he convinced of Yang-Mills gauge theory being capable of three of the four fundamental forces, except gravity.
It surpassed what even the Immortal Alliance only theorized.
However…
[Not enough.] Due to quantum field theory, this theory was at odds with general relativity, which was based on gravity’s nature. Gravity didn’t fit into the system at all.
True, the theorized foundation was damn solid, but Wang Qi yearned for perfection. His foundation couldn’t have a single flaw.
“As for the second method, it comes with its own regrets.” Wang Qi tapped a finger on the table. “Computation isn’t flawless.”
Math wasn’t perfect. In the history of math, countless topics popped up threatening to shake its foundations, the ‘math crisis.’
As far as Wang Qi knew, Divine Province’s immortal cultivation was just about to experience their third math crisis. Many of Myriad Arts Sect’s cultivation methods were in need of revision.
“Foundation, once formed, can only be carved and adjusted but never changed. Just math as a foundation poses too much risk.”
As for the third method, based on Evolution Chart to integrate the other mental arts, it did show promise. Unlike the other proposals, this one had the highest chance of keeping all of his mental arts’ original functions.
It didn’t mean it was perfect. Wang Qi’s cultivation methods’ skills and traits would turn into something similar to innate talents. Training would be hard, and learning a new magical art meant awakening a new innate talent.
This Evolution Chart trait limited Heavenly Spirit Range’s magical arts, turning them into flashy skills. Wang Qi would rather side with a magical art built on theories, thank you very much. Evolution Chart’s trait chained him down.
Different paths led to different results. [Wizard for the win! Wizard is king! Why even bother with a Warlock?](Tamon: DnD reference)
As for the last proposal, Waveform Essence…
“Schrödinger’s wave mechanics are a classic, with the formula’s first skill in the skill tree being Hilbert space, fitting Myriad Arts Sect to a T. Yet I had no fricking clue how to use this damn cultivation method!”
In theory, Waveform Essence could collapse any spiritual power, at Golden Core, of course. Wang Qi had no confidence in dealing with this anthropophobic cultivation method!
Just changing the table’s matter had a random result.
This alone made Wang Qi cross it out.
Zhen Chanzi felt a big headache coming, despite lacking a head. “Brat, are none of them good?”
“I only thought of foundation this morning, alright?” Wang Qi said, “I’m still thinking. I’m sharing my thoughts with you to process them.”
Zhen Chanzi choked, then sighed. “Fine, fine. You have some promise, I’ll give you that. At least you’re not throwing your life away just because you think you’re greater than life.”
Wang Qi tapped his head. “Since you said so much, any thoughts?”
“Considering your current objective, Divine Hexagram Computation and Book of Geometry are still on the table, right?”
“Yes, computation power is crucial. Regardless of what cultivation method becomes my foundation, these two are here to stay. I plan on training in Heavenly Position art after finishing my foundation.”
Zhen Chanzi said, “All I can say is that you keep cultivating these two… Anyway, there are three to five more years to go. Reflect after each step you make…”
“In the end, follow the same pattern?” Wang Qi frowned. “But I at least need a direction.”
Five years wasn’t much. Wang Qi had achieved an insane amount of success so far, crushing his peers with Grand Ripple Enigma and Waveform Essence with impunity.
In contrast, this made it hard to find a fitting foundation.
After racking his brains, Wang Qi gave up on thoughts of foundation for now. “It’s not urgent anyway, but I at least need a decision on what to do.”
“The first is that Myriad Arts Sect cultivation method.” Zhen Chanzi added.
“Obviously. I’m already set on walking the computation path. All that’s left is picking the problems for the next few days.”
[Grand Discrete Unity Treatise, Solar Flare, and Heavenly Light Transmutation are three mental arts I have no use of but can be linked with Celestial Hymn Odyssey. In regard to light particles, De Broglie’s hypothesis requires extensive study.]
Celestial Hymn Odyssey was also key. It pointed at electromagnetism’s nature, and once combined with the Grand Discrete Unity Treatise, it would form a quantum field theory, a gauge theory. Abelian group and abstract algebra were essential tools Franklin Yang used that he, as well, couldn’t do without.
Wang Qi would add one more problem on the paper for every cultivation method he considered.
“Thanks to the two blade arts, I’ve now entered the martial arts field of determinants, trigonometric functions, and calculus. I’ll need more to tackle the other problems…”
[Because I’ve gone through these problems in my first life, I can now put them to use. It’ll be easy.]
After writing a full math problem, Wang Qi picked a book off the table. “Having done no review in ten years, my math declined. There’s no time to wait. I’ll need to solve and solve problems!”
