Wasn’t it said in the begginning that the outer universe is continuous? Like, that everything is still connected and can be reached, but it is just too far apart so people use the territory gates to travel?

I’m thinking of it as galaxies separated by a crapload of nothing. You can spend decades and centuries to fly from one to another, or you can step through the star gate. And yes, galaxies can be born, albeit differently, I bet, than in MoMo’s world.
