Chapter 6071, Palace Master’s Speech
by SilavinAuthor: Silavin
At the moment of their appearance, all noises ceased. It was to the point a pindrop could be heard.
That was just how much respect all the Disciples of High Heaven Palace had towards the Palace Master. Not only was he the Founder for many of their Ancestors, with them being born and raised in his Small Universe, but he was also the one who had saved the world from the Black Ink Clan.
On such a day, where they could finally see the hero of the world firsthand, many went silent to catch every word of his.
This was only natural. After all, such a grand gathering hardly ever happened. Furthermore, this was actually the first time many of them were seeing the Palace Master delivering a speech in person.
Contrary to the tense atmosphere, where one awaited Yang Kai’s words with bated breath, the man himself was tense for another reason.
As he had expected, his Wives seemed to have already planned everything out: from the size of High Heaven Academy to each facility’s staff. Even the resources had been ironed out. However, it was apparent that the bulk of the cost of this whole venture would be on their shoulders.
In other words, High Heaven Palace would not be allocating resources directly to this venture. Rather, Yang Kai and his Family would be the ones sponsoring this venture. Even for Secret Techniques in High Heaven Palace that could be given to High Heaven Academy, they needed to be paid for. It would not be a donation.
There were a few reasons for this.
Since High Heaven Academy was not strictly tied to High Heaven Palace, they should not allocate existing resources to High Heaven Academy. This would be unjust, as they would be taking resources from the current Disciples of High Heaven Palace to provide them to High Heaven Academy. Even if High Heaven Palace was wealthy, it was not like their resources were unlimited.
At the same time, to maintain the fact that High Heaven Academy was a neutral space for education, they should not be biassed in accepting donations from outside sources, which includes High Heaven Palace.
They definitely did not want to be tied down to certain demands from a Sect, just because they ‘donated’ a precious Secret Technique to the school. So, a fair trade to settle matters openly would be best.
They might also have teachers from different Sects, with different agendas, but such risks could not be helped. They could merely manage it such that nothing detrimental falls on the children. Also, such exposure might actually be great for the children in terms of exposing them to a variety of lifestyles and belief structures.
For Yang Kai, all these arrangements made sense. It was just that he could feel his Space Ring bleeding.
He was not a materialistic person. He was willing to spend if needed, and give away rare precious treasures to those he loved. Yet, he could not help but feel the heavy burden this whole school would take on him…
In fact, his heart had already fallen when he gave his gifts to Shan Qing Luo and Yu Ru Meng, only to have them say that these would be great for the new school…
Since the resources would be provided by the Yang Family, this included his Wives. In short, they too were going to help him carry the burden. However, this also meant that his plan to appease them with gifts had fallen short…
Though, admittedly, he knew that placing his hopes on such gifts were futile in the first place.
Right now, as he stood before millions of Disciples, he could feel their smiles from behind him, like cats watching a mouse. As for his Mother, he certainly dared not look at the daggers she was staring at him with. It was as though she was screaming, ‘You dare do that to my precious baby Grandchildren!?’, with her eyes.
Even his script has been prepared for him beforehand. That was just how thorough they were…
“Disciples of High Heaven Palace, today marks the formal establishment of High Heaven Academy. A bastion that will forever shake the foundation of the 3,000 Worlds.”
“The grand announcement has been made, with all sectors of Star Boundary and beyond having heard of its grandeur. For those still unaware, here is a token with all the details. Use your Divine Sense. We will wait for thirty breaths.”
Yang Kai confidently took out a prepared token and lifted it up midair. Soon, countless Divine Sense flooded out, scanning the token. Even for those who had read the announcement in the sky at the time, they still read it again. After all, they feared they might miss out something so they scanned the token.
After thirty breaths, Yang Kai continued.
“The location has been decided. It will be within High Heaven Star City. I will be creating a Secret Realm to house High Heaven Academy. But, I would require the assistance of the Disciples here to help create it within a month.”
Next, Yang Kai took back the token and released an Artifact this time. This was an Artifact that was typically used during such grand gatherings. Activating it, a hug display, over a hundred metres tall and over two hundred metres wide, appeared in the air. On it was a large list of items, each with a price tag.
However, this price tag was not based on Open Heaven Pills, nor were they based on the Merit system in High Heaven Palace. This was another independent system created, with the currency being used called Credits.
There were items like World Beads, Open Heaven Pills, Tai Yi Soul Cleansing Water, Yang Kai’s own Protective Taslimen and so on…
Naturally, all these items listed had to be from Yang Kai’s own collection, or that of his Wives. There was a range from basic items that cost only ten Credits, like an Open Heaven Pill, to expensive Artifacts like World Beads, which came at the billions of Credits.
“To earn Credits, one would need to contribute to the foundation of High Heaven Academy. You may trade in copies of your Secret Techniques, Artifacts, Pills and so on. Their value will be fairly assessed, and you will gain Credits upon a successful transaction. Do note, certain items will not qualify to be traded, as they will not help our future generation. Items like Open Heaven Pills, Artifacts that require one to be in the Open Heaven Realm to use and so on. Keep in mind that these will be used for children.”
“If not, you can also help in terms of labour, helping us build up the future of the next generation.”
Yang Kai looked around to check everyone’s expressions. At this point, there was clear excitement in their eyes. After all, it could be said that the items on sale were relatively cheap for their price. If Open Heaven Pills were the baseline of ten Credits, then Artifacts that should cost tens of millions were basically on offer, costing less than half their usual price.
Furthermore, throughout one’s cultivation journey, who did not have Artifacts or Pills that they had outgrown? Many might keep them for sentimental value, if not never bothered to sell them. However, now, was this not a golden opportunity to get rid of what they no longer needed for something better?
In short, this was too good an opportunity to give up on, and everyone knew that (except for Yang Kai’s children). Their eyes were gleaming with excitement.
“For helpers, a variety of tasks are available for you to pick up.”
Then, the screen flashed and changed once more. This time, there was a list of jobs that the Disciples could pick up, each yielding different amounts of Credits per task or per hour.
Even this was a luxury, as even someone doing clerical work was going to be rewarded 10 Credits an hour, which was an Open Heaven Pill an hour. This was a huge contrast to the same task that would reward three Open Heaven Pills a day!
There were even tasks that would yield tens of thousands of Credits each hour, like Array creation!
It was fair to say that this was an event no Disciple would want to miss. After all, this was only open for a month or so.
“Those that wish to take up a task, speak to the Palace Manager and Vice-Manager. As for those that only wish to trade, you can use the Exchange Hall. It will be available through this period to process all transactions.”
“You only have a month, so make best use of it.”
Yang Kai ended the speech on that note. He gave a nod and Hua Qing Si, the Palace Manager took to the stage to wrap everything up.
In fact, once his speech had ended, Yang Kai immediately tore Space to quickly leave and set up the foundation for the Secret Realm. After all, without it, nothing else could start and a month’s time was already stretching it thin.
Of course, the main bulk of everything had already been said by him. Hua Qing Si was there to answer questions if needed and to direct the Disciples in the finer details–like where they could take up tasks, and etc.
Overall, the atmosphere was exuberant, with many Disciples wanting to immediately rush over to the counters outside the Main Hall and immediately start taking on tasks.
This was obvious once the whole speech ended, with the Elders and Palace Mistresses leaving first. The Disciples immediately rushed out, with some heading to the Exchange Hall first, while others heading to the counters first.
As for the children, they were not really all that impressed. After all, what did this have to do with them? There was no Artifact that they really wanted, nor Pills.
In a way, though Yang Kai and his Wives had ‘tried’ not to spoil them, living in Starry Sky Palace, within their own little bubble, it had made their common sense skewed. Right now, invaluable treasures were nothing in their eyes, as Open Heaven Pills were merely snacks for them.
In short, they did not truly understand the value of each Open Heaven Pill, or how hard it was to earn one. However, this was to be expected, since they were all still really young. The three oldest, Yang Ji, Yang Xu and Yang Hao–12,12,10 respectively, who were free to go out whenever they wanted, never bothered to spend any of their Open Heaven Pills. Likewise, they never needed to earn any Open Heaven Pills with Xia Ning Chang around.
At the same time, the Twins had no interest in shopping, while Yang Hao only concentrated on cultivation. Though to be fair, they had been provided with all they could ever need, so why would they need to shop for items?
If the three oldest were like this, then the rest, who could not even go out alone, could not have been much better, right?
So, naturally, the question that popped up in their mind was: [So, why were we brought here?]
And as if to answer that question, the Wives, who had disappeared from the stage, had just entered the room.
