Chapter 1103, The Body Is Like a Vessel

Yan Hua clearly had not quite processed it yet. She was still staring at herself in disbelief, searching for any change.
She felt nothing different anywhere on her body. She consciously activated her Totem Power, and still nothing has changed.
“Shaman, can I really awaken as a Mid-Stage Totem Warrior?” Yan Hua looked up with an expectant expression.
“Go and try it yourself and you’ll know. Whether you can break through or not depends entirely on whether you can manage it.” Su Bai said quietly.
He had originally not wanted to say it directly. He had simply intended to send Yan Hua on the mission and let the breakthrough happen naturally.
But since Sha Lan wanted to go along as well, he had no choice but to plainly state why Yan Hua needed to go alone.
The truth was that Su Bai could now read a Warrior’s state in a remarkably clear way. Any Warrior who stood before him was like a transparent vessel.
Their strength, how far they had come, it was like watching water poured into a container. He could see every bit of it.
Yan Hua, for instance, had water that had already reached the mouth of the vessel. It was about to spill over. The moment it did, her breakthrough would be complete.
“Good. I will complete this mission, and I’ll break through to the Mid-Stage right in front of you.” Yan Hua was instantly brimming with fighting spirit.
She had felt a flicker of worry at the very start. But the moment she learned she was on the verge of a breakthrough, confidence filled her at once.
It was fair to say that of all the missions she had carried out since becoming a Warrior, this was the one she was most eager for.
The task was to find transportation vehicles to carry goods. Any Ferocious Beast used for hauling goods would need to be large. What Yan Hua had to do was bring out her Shaman Bone Tablets and Tame those Ferocious Beasts. This was clearly an enormous challenge.
It was also a true test of her strength. Which naturally made it all the more thrilling.
Beyond that, there was the second task. Yan Hua had to break through and become a Mid-Stage Totem Warrior.
That, too, was an enormous test for Yan Hua. If the breakthrough failed, it would mean death.
Both tasks were difficult. But Yan Hua was not the least bit daunted by them. If anything, she felt a particular rush of excitement.
“Shaman, I know that Warriors break through on their own, but this mission is too dangerous. It might be a bit much for Ah’Hua to manage alone.” Sha Lan looked deeply torn and continued. “If possible, I’d like to go too. Shaman, am I perhaps also on the verge of a breakthrough?”
She and Yan Hua had grown up together. Knowing her friend was about to face such a dangerous mission, she was naturally worried.
And Sha Lan genuinely did want to break through to Mid-Stage Totem Warrior herself. Part of her hoped to do so alongside Yan Hua.
“You still need to put in a bit more effort. It won’t happen quite so soon.” Su Bai said with a touch of regret.
He walked forward and patted Sha Lan’s shoulder, gesturing to her not to be too discouraged.
Su Bai could see that the capacity within Sha Lan had reached about the neck of the vessel. The mouth was not yet full.
But it was not far off. Once the capacity inside reached the head, a breakthrough would not be too far off.
“All right then. Ah’Hua, please be very careful. If you encounter a Ferocious Beast that’s too difficult to handle, you must avoid it. You cannot act recklessly. Do you understand?” Sha Lan said worriedly.
She felt a little sorry for herself, but only a little. She was confident that the next one to break through would have been her.
After all, Sha Lan had trained alongside Yan Hua. Though her talent was not equal to the latter, their level of effort was about the same.
If one of them was on the verge of advancing to the Mid-Stage, the other would not be far behind.
“Don’t worry. I will be very, very careful. I absolutely won’t make any mistakes, and I will definitely come back safely.” Yan Hua beat her chest with conviction.
“Oh, please. The more you say that, the less I believe it. You know your own personality well enough. I genuinely hope you stop making us worry about you.” Sha Lan’s expression became particularly solemn.
The two of them had been together since childhood. She knew the other girl’s character down to the bone. She wanted more than anything for Yan Hua to realise her dream of becoming a Totem Warrior.
But at the same time she was deeply worried about Yan Hua’s temperament, that easy boldness, that casual disregard. For a Warrior, that sort of thing was a grave weakness.
Being careless was how mistakes happened. And on this continent, so full of dangers, a single mistake could be fatal.
“I got it. I’m not the child I used to be. I have heavy responsibilities on my shoulders now. I have to protect the Shaman and protect the Tribe.” Yan Hua’s tone became equally serious.
“Good. That much I’m glad you understand.” Sha Lan still looked deeply worried.
“This time when you go out, I’ll give you a few extra Shaman Bone Tablets. Ah’Lan is right. Whatever happens, you must take care of yourself.” Su Bai reminded her.
If he was being honest, he too was worried. But this was for Yan Hua’s breakthrough. There was nothing else to be done.
“Shaman, don’t worry. In a little while, I’ll let you see a completely transformed version of me, and brand-new transportation vehicles to go with it.” Yan Hua gripped her small fists tightly.
“Good. I believe in you. Get a good rest tonight and prepare yourself. You’ll set off tomorrow.” Su Bai patted her shoulder and said. “The snow season will be here before long. If you miss this chance, you’ll have to wait until next year.”
“Understood.” Yan Hua grinned wide, then immediately ran back to her room to get ready.
Sha Lan, still not at ease, followed after her. She wanted to give her one more thorough round of reminders.
Su Bai smiled watching the two girls go, then returned to his seat and went back to his own affairs.
Ever since he had been able to see the energy capacity within Totem Warriors, he had already gone through the whole Tribe’s Warriors one by one.
Looking at them overall, everyone’s strength was at a similar level. The energy capacity in most of them had reached around the shoulder and neck.
In other words, if everyone trained seriously through the snow season as well, advancing to the Mid-Stage would come soon enough for all of them.
He had also taken a look at some ordinary people, just to see whether ordinary people had this energy capacity at all.
If he could see it, he would have a rough idea in mind. Then he could verify it during the next eternal night.
“Even so, I have a feeling the results will be close to what I expect. The next Awakening Ceremony should yield quite a few new Warriors.” Su Bai murmured to himself.
He could not quite explain why. He was simply very sure of it.
Beyond that, it was also a test he wanted to run. He wanted to see whether the Tribe’s environment and food really could influence one’s awakening.
“Do your best, Ah’Hua. I know you won’t let me down.” Su Bai suddenly lifted his head and looked up at the ceiling with a meaningful look, and a satisfied smile spread across his face.
