Chapter 6076, Dormitories
by SilavinAuthor: Silavin
For cultivators, each class was allocated two dormitory buildings, one for each gender. The dormitories were located a little more distant from the school. At least, they were further away compared to the dormitories for the mortal students. After all, for cultivators, they would need more space for themselves when training, and they could travel further distances at an extremely fast pace compared to mortals.
Therefore, cultivator dormitories held a far larger area but were also quite a distance away from the school itself. Unlike the dormitories for mortals, each cultivator would get their own room, as secluded cultivation was to be expected. As such, their dormitory rooms would be reinforced with an Isolation Array and tougher materials like Divine Metals.
Moreover, the dormitory rooms had different grades to them as well, to spark competition amongst the students. For the Time Space Class 1, the best rooms naturally went without saying to the two best students, Yang Ji and Yang Xu.
As Yang Ji and Yang Xu moved through the dormitory buildings, due to the number of students here and their distance from Li Wu Yi, they spoke to him using their Divine Sense.
“Uncle Li Wu Yi, why have you become our form teacher? Didn’t you say that you have nothing to teach us?” Yang Ji said words that really pierced into Li Wu Yi’s heart.
Li Wu Yi had definitely said those words a few years ago, when Yang Kai had asked if he could take the Twins as his Disciples. After all, he was a Family friend, and someone Yang Kai respected. At the very least, from Yang Kia’s point of view, it was better to have a Human who mastered the Dao of Space through insight rather than a Divine Spirit that mastered it through their Bloodline act as their Master.
Unfortunately, Li Wu Yi keenly knew that such a relationship was impossible. He could not be a Master to these two children. It was not that he did not have anything to teach them. Rather, he simply could not see himself being their ‘Master’ for long, as he was certain they would surpass him on their own, even without him.
Furthermore, Li Wu Yi has his own criteria for his Disciples. As such, he had refused Yang Kai’s request, giving the excuse that he had nothing to teach them.
Still, to think that Yang Ji would say such words to him, as though slapping him in the face…
“You brat. You think you’re so amazing that you know everything about the Dao of Space? I just said that to give you some face. You better prepare yourself. Tomorrow, I’ll make sure I drill you with knowledge till your head goes numb.” Li Wu Yi gave a huff, thinking to ignore them for now.
Li Wu Yi focused on the other children as he approached their dormitory buildings., “A little more and we’re there.”
Their dormitory was quite isolated from the other buildings, with trees all around. In fact, it was probably the building furthest away from the school, at the highest altitude on top of a mountain. From here, they could easily see the school, though it would be the size of a stretched out thumb despite the school’s massive size.
Li Wu Yi had purposefully travelled all the way here without bending Space, since he was sure some students would need to walk up and down the mountain until they got adept enough at manipulating Space Principles.
Nevertheless, with the whole class gathered, he pointed at the compound, with two tall buildings facing each other. Each building was four levels high, built in a traditional style and in between them sat a large stone platform. There were other structures as well, but the two tall buildings stood out as the most inconspicuous.
There were various flora surrounding the place, with a garden equipped with stone tables and chairs. The compound had the sign, ‘Time Space Class 1’ written on it, and the left building had a ‘女’ sign on it that denoted it was meant for the girls and the right one had a ‘男’ sign denoting it was for the boys.
At this point, due to the distance they travelled, some of the kids could be seen panting. However, there were also those that had not even let down the least bit of sweat. Such a difference had made their inadequacies obvious, causing some of the children to get frustrated.
Despite how each of them felt, Li Wu Yi had them line up on the stone platform, according to their seating arrangement in the Grand Hall, and called out the name of each student.
“Zhang Fei, male building, room 1-A.”
“Li Ying, female building, room 1-A.”
“Kai Kai, male building, room 1-B.”
…
Names were called out one by one, and Li Wu Yi had them step out to collect a jade token. These jade tokens were the keys to their rooms.
It was clear from those that were being called out, from how they were sweating and panting, that these children were most likely the weakest out of everyone present. They had used Qi, and still barely caught up to the group.
Yang Ji and Yang Xu did not know if they were judged based on how well they performed from the trek, or from solely their cultivation realm. Nevertheless, the difference in strength between each student was being showcased right in front of everyone.
…
“Xin Yee, female building, room 2-A.”
“Huo Chong, male building, room 2-A.”
…
Next were children who seemed relatively fine. They had beads of sweat, but were not panting. They were clearly another class of their own compared to the previous batch.
As the names were called out, it seemed like a large majority of the students here would be placed in rooms 2-something. In fact, all the other students were called out and placed in room 2-something, even the Saint King Realm student was also placed here.
Next came to be a surprise to everyone. Everyone else but the twins had been called, however, once the next name was called, it raised eyebrows.
“Yang Xu, female building, room 4.”
…
The students all looked at each other, baffled. After all, 3 was skipped and then suddenly 4? Furthermore, there was no alphabet behind the number!
Immediately, this raised murmurs. Despite not stepping out, all the students could tell who ‘Yang Xu’ was. The pressure she exerted on them unconsciously was too apparent.
“Wait, why is she the only one in 4?”
“Shhh, quiet, can’t you sense how powerful she is? Also, she is not the only one at 4. That boy next to her definitely will also be placed at 4.”
“I know she is strong but, isn’t this too unfair?”
Such murmurs continued. They could keenly sense that Yang Xu was in a class of her own. Yet, some could not accept that the difference was this stark.
Yang Ji and Yang Xu could hear all the murmuring. However, they two just felt annoyed by it more than anything. After all, it was not like they asked to be placed in room 4.
Li Wu Yi, hearing all the murmuring, could not keep it in any longer and spoke up, “Silence. The rooms are classified under your mastery over the Dao of Space or the Dao of Time. It is not based on pure cultivation.”
Xu Yi also stepped up to explain further, “The higher the floor, the higher the room number, the stronger the Array inside that helps the student study the various Daos and for general cultivation. For the current batch, I believe that there are only a handful of students that can use the third floor. So far, only these two are qualified to use the fourth floor.”
“Do not rush. Even the sweetest of nectar, when too potent, will become poison. If you all study hard, I believe most of you will be qualified to use the rooms on the third floor next year.” Xu Yi added.
However, upon saying all of this, the two teachers were still waiting for her to step out. That was when Yang Xu made a request to them through Divine Sense.
“Uncle Li Wu Yi, Uncle Xu Yi, I don’t want to be in a different room from my Brother…” Yang Xu said in a disheartened tone, but her words brooked no refusal.
“Yang Xu, we have already expected you to say that. But, this is also a request from your Mother, Su Yan. She hopes that you will grow independent of your Brother. You are already twelve years old. Isn’t it time to stay in a room of your own?” Xu Yi was the one who replied, as he was closer to Yang Kai’s Family than Li Wu Yi, and was also the one who had received Su Yan’s request.
Li Wu Yi added, “What’s more, it would be unfair for the rest if you were to be able to sleep in the male dormitory, while all the female students are only allowed into the female dormitory. We obviously also can’t allow your Brother to enter the female dormitory, right?”
“No! I don’t want to! How is that fair? I cultivate better with my Brother with me! How can you separate us!?” Yang Xu pouted and stomped her feet, which seemed strange to the other students since it seemed like she had suddenly done that out of nothing.
“But from what your Mother has said, you don’t need your Brother with you when you cultivate.” Xu Yi sighed in his heart, [Mistress, why didn’t you explain it to them? Why leave it to us to explain…]
At this point, Yang Ji cut into the conversation, also through their Divine Sense but only to Yang Xu. “Yang Xu, if you still want to stay together, why don’t we just combine both rooms together?”
“Huh? We can do that?” Yang Xu raised a questioning look, but only spoke to her Brother this time. After all, both of them had never done this before.
“The Heavenly Demon Queen said it can be done, that it would be good if we have more space in our room.” Yang Ji this time said directly to her.
“Are you really sure?” Yang Xu this time asked the Heavenly Demon Queen with a sharp gaze.
“It is but a paltry task for me.” The Heavenly Demon Queen scoffed, rolling her eyes.
Yang Xu thought for a moment and just suddenly stepped out to go to the front and return. She moved so fast that the students around them only saw her afterimage, with a jade token already taken from Li Wu Yi’s hand.
Still, seeing how Yang Xu had not raised a fuss and had accepted the arrangement, Li Wu Yi quickly sealed the deal by calling the next name.
“Yang Ji, male building, room 4.”
Similar to Yang Xu, Yang Ji also quickly moved forward and returned. He raised no fuss and just accepted the jade token.
At this point, Xu Yi had his eye brow raised. From what he knew and expected, the Twins should have caused a greater fuss. However, he chose to keep silent since he did not want these two to cause anymore trouble.
He motioned to Li Wu Yi, and the latter quickly sent the kids to their rooms, before any more noise could be made about the matter.
