Chapter 6111, Bodily Transformation

*Bang* The door behind Yang Ji slammed shut with a bang. Yet, the boy hardly took notice. This was all due to the sight in front of him.
“It’s this big? And, this is all for me?” Yang Ji’s eyes widened as he gazed at the glowing golden pool of water right in front of him. The room itself had no decorations, after all, the occupant was expected to remain in the pool till the process was over. If anything, the eye-catching bits on the walls were the Runes that interlaced with the pool, as though capturing it.
However, the size of the pool was something that could possibly fit an Open Heaven Realm True Dragon. If Yang Ji were to swim inside of it, he would be like an island within an ocean. Furthermore, maybe because the golden water was opaque, Yang Ji could not see its bottom as well.
At this point, Wu Lun pushed him ahead, “What are you waiting for? Get in already, before the others start absorbing.”
“But, aren’t I alone?” Yang Ji looked around and saw not a single Soul.
Wu Lun then explained, “Look. The entrance you entered is not the only one. There are other entrances. You can’t expect those of the other gender to possibly go into the water with you, right? Since the adults care about modesty, they naturally built each room for private use. Besides, it would be a hindrance to us if others saw you naked at this point.”
It certainly did make sense, so Yang Ji just gave a nod and stripped himself, ready to enter the pool. Once he did, his Lower Realm Aura was fully exposed. Thankfully, no one was here.
When his feet first made contact, he felt a chilling sensation all over. It felt as though millions of tiny needles were trying to penetrate his skin. There was no pain, just a sensation that something was trying to enter his body.
A little wary, he retreated back and asked in alarm, “Are you sure this is safe?”
Wu Lun, rolling his eyes, added, “Of course it is. You think those loyal knuckleheads would risk their Young Mistress’ life? What you were feeling is the effects of the pool. For most people, this will hurt, but for you, I can’t say. After all, we are here to strengthen your foundation before you start cultivating using the World Energy of the Upper Realm. Technically, you can cultivate, and have already cultivated before. You’re also not injured or anything for that matter. I don’t know how different your experience will be from the others.”
“But, then why would they call it the Pool of Revitalisation, then?”
“The Pool of Revitalisation is supposed to be for those that are impaired. That Young Mistress for example, cannot cultivate. She has an issue with her Dantian, that’s why they brought her all the way here, to try and give her the chance to fix it, bearing the risk of ambushes and worse. Honestly, they are just idiots who think cultivation is everything. But, even I can’t really fault them for this. For cultivators, especially those in the Upper Realm, might make right here. If one loses their cultivation, they are no different to a dead man walking. And, the Pool of Revitalisation is one such method to bring the ‘dead’ back to life.” Wu Lun shrugged, clearly knowing that the current Yang Ji was not that different to the ‘dead’, which he forced upon him.
“I see…” Yang Ji was a little doubtful that this was all there was to it. However, since Wu Lun was not one to inform him of every little thing, he kept his questions to himself for now.
He took a deep breath and then ran, jumping straight into the pool with a huge splash.
The moment the golden water covered him, he immediately felt that same piercing sensation again. It was first felt in his skin, then in his muscles, drilling all the way into his bones. If Yang Ji were to describe the pain, he would say it was lukewarm. It was not painful to the extent that he would have to grit his teeth, but painful enough to annoy a person.
Still, he appreciated this pain. It seemed like after each time these ‘needles’ struck, that point within his body seemed to change. If striking once was not enough, then ten times, if not a hundred times. Little by little, the minute changes within his body slowly began to surface, which even he could not initially perceive.
Each cell seemed to come alive, active again. Even after being once in the Dao Source Realm, shedding out all the filth in his body, there seemed to be more to shed.
Black liquid oozed out of every pour, but inside the Pool of Revitalisation, they were swiftly eliminated, as though nothing ‘unclean’ could exist inside.
Without even trying to draw in World Energy, his meridians, at some point, began to open up on their own, accepting World Energy on their own. Yang Ji had not even tried to use a Cultivation Technique, and his body was already automatically drawing in World Energy on its own.
Wu Lun then warned him, “Don’t start cultivating yet. Let the pool completely cleanse you. No need to resist, just stay inside and let it do its thing.”
“I’m not cultivating though. My body is just automatically drawing in World Energy. Besides, I only cultivate using our Heaven Earth Symmetry Cultivation Technique. Without my Sister, I’m not even sure I can use this technique.” Yang Ji highlighted.
Wu Lun went silent for a moment and then said, “In that case, try to force out the World Energy. Try to resist accepting any.”
“But doesn’t this go against why I’m inside this pool in the first place?”
“The Pool of Revitalisation takes effect to mend parts that cannot accept World Energy. In short, places that lack World Energy or Qi. That means, once World Energy invades, its effect on that region would weaken. If you want to make full use of this, then bear with it.” Wu Lun quickly explained, not wanting Yang Ji to waste this opportunity. “Besides, you should not cultivate here. Once you get out, how are you going to pose as the Young Mistress if your cultivation suddenly leaps? You are not strong enough to take on Families from the Inner Heaven just yet. Heck, you can’t even deal with experts from the Outer Heaven.”
“Fine fine fine. I’ll just focus on blocking World Energy from entering my body, okay?” Yang Ji stated and took a meditative stance while submerged.
If before, the pain was close to negligible, this time, the pain was searing. The moment Yang Ji tried to push out and reject all the World Energy coming into him, it was as though the whole pool turned hostile at that moment. Those needles, which felt imperceptibly small at first, now felt as wide as fingers. They ruthlessly slammed into every inch of his body, as though trying to break it.
Yang Ji could not help but clench his jaw in pain at this moment. He never expected things to take such a drastic turn.
Worse yet, unbeknownst to him, he was slowly sinking deeper into the pool.
Wu Lun did not warn him, nor did Yang Ji even consider this to be an issue at first. So, he did not even bother to spread his Divine Sense outward, and just solely focused on blocking all the World Energy from entering his body.
After a few hours had passed, Yang Ji could not help but ask, “Why the heck is it getting more and more painful?”
“What are you complaining about? Stop being weak. Your Father had to go through worse.” Wu Lun said in passing, not even addressing the question itself.
Still, maybe because Yang Ji was still young and impressionable, he kept silent as though accepting this challenge.
Hours soon turned into days.
At this point, it was no exaggeration to say that the Pool of Revitalisation had finally started to see red.
Usually, no one would have stayed in the pool to this extent. No, more accurately, no one would reject World Energy entering their bodies after their injuries were healed. So, no one would have experienced this level of pain within the Pool of Revitalisation.
At this point, the Pool of Revitalisation was no longer there to solely help Yang Ji build up his cultivation foundation, but his Physique as well. He was facing pressure on both ends: his body wanting to suck in as much World Energy as it possibly can, and the pool water striking at him to make sure World Energy entered his body. Worse yet, as he sank, the greater pressure of those strikes.
Unfortunately for Yang Ji, there did not seem to be a bottom to the pool. So, he continued to remain unaware that he was still sinking.
Furthermore, as a Phoenix who boasts strong regenerative capabilities, injuries such as these would quickly heal up, only to take more pounding.
So, with each minute that passed, Yang Ji was certainly getting stronger.
Then… it happened…
At some point, Yang Ji felt that the pain was finally easing. Initially, he doubted it to be true, since it might be him just getting used to the pain. However, over time, it seemed like his Physique had reached a certain point where these ‘needles’ could no longer pierce through his flesh.
And as time passed, Yang Ji could feel less and less of its effects.
Wu Lun, seeming to notice this as well, stated, “Seems like it is having little effect on you now. Well, once the pain is completely gone, I guess we are done.”
Yang Ji thought for a moment, and then with a curious glint in his eyes, took a big gulp.
At that moment, the searing pain returned again, this time from his insides. His mouth and throat burned with the intensity of a thousand Suns, as he forcibly swallowed down the pool water.
“I never told you to drink it, did I!? You were screaming in pain a few days earlier, why are you taking it into your body now?” Wu Lun said this, but from his tone, he was amused more than worried. After all, if Yang Ji were to just stay in the pool for longer, the same effect would take place. There was actually no need to do this. The boy was just asking for more pain at this point.
“If my skin prevents them from further entering, wouldn’t that mean my insides would no longer be cleansed as well?” Yang Ji said using his Divine Sense.
“Ah, seriously. Well, do as you please.” Wu Lun responded and just waited.
Seeing as though Wu Lun had given the green light, Yang Ji just continued to focus on blocking out any World Energy from entering his body. Still, from time to time, he would take large gulps, as it seems like, once this water was separated from this pool, it loses its effect rather quickly. Furthermore, it seemed like once its effect was gone, the water would disappear from his stomach as well.
Time passed like this, and eventually, Yang Ji had finally reached the bottom of the pool. At this point, it was unknown how deep he had fallen. However, it was long enough for his skin to no longer feel the pain from those ‘needles’. At this point, only when he drank did he feel the effects of the pool.
Yang Ji finally did a scan using his Divine Sense. He first checked on himself. He could clearly sense that every cell on his body had been reborn. If he were to stop blocking World Energy from entering his body, he truly wondered just how shocking the commotion would be once he started to genuinely cultivate.
Yang Ji could feel that now, not only would his meridians be able to absorb World Energy, every cell in his body could. Furthermore, though his physical strength itself had not increased, he was definitely tougher than before. Though still unable to break stone in the Upper Realm, he did feel like he was as hard as the mightiest of boulders right now.
This short check had proven that this trip here had been fruitful indeed. He could not wait to start cultivating now. But, he would continue to hold off, until the situation stabilised first.
Yang Ji then turned his attention to the pool itself. However, he was shocked to find that the pool had been half-drained by this point.
[Huh? I don’t think I drank that much…] Yang Ji wondered as he took another gulp.
