Chapter 6103, At Her Wits’ End
by SilavinAuthor: Silavin
“How do you expect my Brother to survive if he doesn’t have his cultivation!?” Instead of Yang Ji lashing out, it was Yang Xu. She stared, wide-eyed in disbelief at what Wu Lun was proposing.
Wu Lun rolled his eyes, as if he heard the funniest joke in the world. “Do you think I’m not aware of what he can do? With that peculiar Phoenix Bloodline of his, I bet he can even regrow limbs if he needs to. What’s more, don’t think I don’t know you two have been cultivating your Physique and the various Daos in your spare time since you did not wish to focus too much on your cultivation realm. I’m not blind you know?”
Wu Lun continued, “Besides, you might think this is doing you a favour, but this is doing both of you a favour.”
Both Twins had eyes that clearly held partial doubts. Nevertheless, Wu Lun continued.
“Listen up. I’m sure you are already aware of this, but the Daos that you two have built your foundation upon are flawed. To even be able to stand shoulders to shoulders with the geniuses here, you can’t possibly build up your strength on loose sand. Regardless, one of you must be willing to walk this path anew. Else, neither of you will be able to keep up.”
“Yes, we will be sending you to a Sect, and yes, it will be safer there. But if you do not continue to prove your worth, do you think your Sister will be living in safety? The people there are not your Family. Heck, they aren’t even your friends. You think they won’t backstab you once you show limitations to your potential? Don’t be so naive you sheltered brats. This is not a game where we can live as we like. Do you think I’m not taking any sort of risk by taking you all out of your world? Do you think that ancient being inside of you isn’t taking a risk by manifesting now? We are all taking risks here. Don’t think you three can be the exception. The moment your Father has agreed to send you out is the moment he accepted that he might never see you all again. That is the risk you all have accepted when you all agreed to come out here.”
“Besides, I will be there with him. I too will not let him die before my goal is accomplished. So, let me ask you again, are you willing to start anew, and recultivate from scratch?”
Yang Ji looked at Yang Xu, and then Yang Ling. Honestly, to him, starting from scratch mattered little to the safety of these two. It took him less than twelve years to reach the Dao Source Realm. And, with the foundation of already climbing this hill once, the second time ought to be much faster. So, even when Yang Xu wished for him to refuse the offer, Yang Ji still gave a nod.
“Sure. I’m fine with starting all over. But, I don’t really know how to transfer my cultivation to Yang Xu. We’ve never done it before.”
“Not to worry. Once again, we will help you with that.” Wu Lun gave a nod and then he disappeared. However, before he did, he gave a smirk that Yang Ji would remember for eternity.
At the very next moment, Yang Ji was knocked unconscious.
As for Yang Xu and Yang Ling, they could barely react when Wu Lun appeared behind Yang Ji, knocking him out with one swift blow, catching him and placing him onto the golden ‘ground’. Then, he wrapped Yang Ji in his Qi, keeping him from waking up.
After all, with Yang Ji’s Phoenix Bloodline, one could expect him to wake up from such a strike within mere minutes.
“He already agreed to what you want. Why did you have to do that!?” Yang Xu questioned but Wu Lun sighed, “Then, would you like him to be awake and fully experience what it is like to have his cultivation sucked out of him?”
Yang Xu went silent then said, “If you expect me to help you, then I’m not doing it.”
“Even when he himself has agreed to it?” Wu Lun stated, more coldly this time. “In that case, would it be better for me to cripple his cultivation instead and make him start out as a cripple? I’m sure you’d do whatever you can to salvage his Qi before it completely gets wasted, if not for yourself, at least to salvage what you can to return it to him.”
“You! Didn’t you just say that you aren’t going to let him die!?” Yang Xu’s eyes turned red at this point.
“And crippling him doesn’t mean he is dead, right?” Wu Lun sharply stated and reminded, “I do not wish to waste words with you. Don’t play politics with me. You’re just too young. Either you do what I say, or I cripple him and no one walks away any better. I need him as a blank slate, as much as you need his cultivation to enter that Sect with commendation.”
“You!” Yang Xu was about to rush up to Wu Lun but the youth simply raised a single finger and pressed down.
Yang Xu was immediately pressed down by the pressure of what seemed to be a thousand mountains. All movements forward immediately ceased as she could only use all her strength to resist being crushed. She could not even look up, her head barely able to hold up.
Yang Ling at this point reacted by rushing forward to her Sister. However, how could she possibly help in any way? She was quickly pushed away, with one gentle flick from another of Wu Lun’s finger.
Then, Wu Lun’s voice came, this time, only Yang Xu could hear it. This was in fact to prevent Yang Ling from learning about any of the following statements.
“The True Dao of Unity. Sounds grandiose, but, if one person is above the other, is that truly unity? You two were born, bound together, but is that really the case? I wonder how much of it is what he wished for, and how much of it is what you wish for him to be?”
Wu Lun said with his eyes narrowed. “What you are afraid of isn’t him merely losing his cultivation. What you are afraid of is the lack of this link between the two of you. After all, this mysterious link between the two of you is built upon not just your shared births, but some mysterious cultivation technique as well. Though I do not know what exactly this cultivation technique is, if one side is stronger than the other, it will not balance out. It will do him more harm than good. While he pursues the various Daos, you’ve been solely focused on this one, have you not, that’s why you are much better than him at the True Dao of Unity.”
“You can lie to him, even lie to yourself, but you can’t pretend in front of my eyes. I’ve been observing you two for quite some time now. Compared to how proficient you two are in the Dao of Space, your Dao of Time hasn’t truly caught up. You two barely used it. With your Dragon Bloodline, this should have fallen to you to focus on cultivating it. But, you’ve been relying mostly on your Bloodline’s natural aptitude. So, of course this Dao has fallen behind.”
“Let him go and one day, you two might stand as equals once more. No. I will force you to.” Wu Lun stated.
Yang Xu remained muted, still strongly defying him.
“Unlike myself, he bears no connection to the fate of your existence. He is unburdened by morals in the pursuit of his objective. He has spent countless aeons devoted to a solitary, unwavering purpose. Do not harbour the illusion that your silence shall serve as deterrent or persuasion.” The Heavenly Demon Queen spoke up at this moment in Yang Xu’s mind.
“Shut up! Both of you! You two purposefully dragged Yang Ling along to be taken as a hostage! Yet, you two dare to preach to me!” Yang Xu commended the Heavenly Demon Queen in her mind.
However, the Heavenly Demon Queen was not angered by her statement. In fact, as though she had already predicted such an outburst, she calmly continued without so much as a missing beat. “You have, upon occasion, labelled me a parasite. Yet one must ask: wherein lies the distinction between us? You attach yourself to your Brother with such desperation that his existence becomes as vital to you as the very air you breathe, all while he remains wholly self-sufficient, fine to separate, even willing to lay down his cultivation for your sake.”
“I will not bring harm to my Brother, unlike you!” Yang Xu screamed in her mind. “I can’t let him be the only one taking on such risks! I have to be there with him!”
“What harm have I brought upon either of you? And you dare speak of not harming your Brother? Your very existence has already rendered him a marked target in the Upper Realm. Furthermore, your present obstinacy may well result in him being crippled.” The Heavenly Demon Queen continued, “That man will not cease. He will truly cripple him unless you do as told.”
“And how did we even get into this mess!? This is all because of you!” Yang Xu screamed some more, and she continued to scream but… what else could she do?
She was at her wits’ end.
