After a few days had passed to cool down…

Yang Ji and Yang Xu were both still in Yang Ji’s room, wide awake after the whole fiasco with the Heavenly Demon Queen. As for the culprit, she remained in her habitat for the whole time, where she could ignore the world once more.

Strangely enough, Yang Xu was hanging upside down, with her feet on the ceiling as she paced around in frustration.

Still, since her Brother was here, she did not do much else. It was also questionable if having the blood rushing to her brain affected her mood, since their high cultivation realm should render such things moot.

Yet, she still took care of her appearance, where her long hair seemingly defied gravity with her, same as her dress. It was as if the gravity of the room was split in two, in two different directions.

Maybe it was a hidden sign to show her discontent, that she was of the opposite opinion of her Brother, who was sitting on the bed, looking at her.

“I just don’t get it…” Yang Xu muttered as she continued to pace around in deep thought.

    “What don’t you get?”

“Brother, just how did you manage to look through her memories? If we can do it now…” Yang Xu seemed to be waiting for that question.

However, Yang Ji just shrugged his shoulders, “Your guess is as good as mine. I just felt like we could have done it then, and once we woke up, it doesn’t seem to be possible. I don’t know if it was really erased like she said, or if there is something more at play. One thing I do know is that the us in our dreams are different from how we are right now.”

“Besides, are you fine with us talking about this now? You’ve been keeping quiet the past few days, Isn’t it because she might overhear us?” Yang Ji asked, curious as to why she was bringing this up now when the matter should have already been over.

Yang Xu snorted and shook her head, “If she is always listening in on us, then when will I be able to ask you these questions? It’s like having a stalker that constantly spies on us. There’s no point in waiting for the right time. I might as well just ask it now rather than let this curiosity of mine eat me from the inside out.”

“Wait. What’s a stalker?” Hearing this unknown term for the first time, Yang Ji asked but Yang Xu quickly glossed over the topic. “Just another name for a really skilled spy.”

“Brother, can we get back on topic and not get distracted? Let’s focus on the dream… What makes it so different?”

Yang Ji thought for a moment and then, with a *snap* of his fingers, the whole room changed. The connection to Yang Xu’s room was cut off. In fact, the connection to the outside world seemed to have been entirely served as the walls, ceiling and floor wrapped with mysterious images that seemed to come and go in a blur. Eventually, the scene before them settled and Yang Xu blinked a few times before everything settled.

However, what was around them was strange. If Yang Xu did not know what Yang Ji was trying to do, she would have thought they had landed in some nightmare.

The current room was inspired by their memories of their own room back in Starry Sky Palace. Naturally, this was in no way connected to their actual room. Even if Yang Ji had profound mastery over the Dao of Space, there was still a barrier between this world and the world outside. Unless he could break through that barrier, he would not be able to connect the rooms.

Instead, this was a ‘faithful’ recreation of the room. However, it was not just any faithful recreation. It was a recreation making use of Space Principles.

Meaning, the flooring, walls, furniture and so on were all created through manipulating Space Principles, to emulate the room, which the Twins had perfect memory of considering the time they spent there and their cultivation realm.

Yet, this scene was off. Even if it looked perfect to the eyes, that was all it could be. The tactile feeling of the walls, how light bounced off of the walls, the scent of the room and so forth, all of these were lacking one way or another.

If one looked closely, they could obviously see mismatches in every aspect of the room. Add them all together, and it looked eerie and disgusting, like something not of this world.

Nevertheless, Yang Xu got the point Yang Ji was trying to convey without any explanation.

For some reason, in their dreams, recreating things was so effortless. No matter the temperature, the pressure, the texture or the touch, everything felt so real it was eerie. Everything was an emulation of what happened, like their memory had become a real world. Even the sensation of touch and scent was the same, which even if one of them did not take notice at the time, the other surely would.

Then, if both took notice and recreated the scene, but nothing felt off, was this not proof of a perfect recreation?

Yet, they could not do the same in the real world, despite their high cultivation and having the same memory.

It should be added that at their Father’s level, he could create worlds. So, it stands to reason they should be able to recreate at least something more akin to what was in their memories than this…

In short, there were still things they did not understand about themselves, about their connection when in their unconscious state, which allowed them to tap into the Heavenly Demon Queen’s memories.

And for some reason, when out of their unconscious state, they lost that connection.

“I had a feeling that our connection was always stronger when we were asleep. I wondered if the same was true with the Heavenly Demon Queen, and it seems to be so.” Yang Ji said with a curious smile, “Now, I wonder if there is going to be a difference if one of us goes to sleep while the other stays awake. Hey, are you listening? What’s the matter with you?”

Yang Xu twirled her finger and the room returned back to normal. She, too, returned back to the ground without even a kick, and just rotated in mid-air.

She honestly could not stand the sight of that off-putting scene. Before she spoke, she had to erase that scene from her eyes by taking a few seconds.

“Brother, I don’t understand how you are fine with that. Please never do that again. I have goosebumps.” Yang Xu still had her eyes closed as she spoke.

“Come on, it wasn’t that bad.” Yang Ji rolled his eyes. [How exaggerated. Still, that at least got her mind off the Heavenly Demon Queen for now,]

“Brother, I don’t understand how you tolerate all these things. You were fine with that thing’s appearance, and then you are fine with this.” Yang Xu just shook her head at how nonchalant he seemed to be in the face of such disgust.

“I honestly just don’t find it that disgusting. I found those kids drooling when they got knocked out more disgusting, you know? You didn’t even want to touch them and just made a portal underneath them.” Yang Ji shot back.

However, at this point, Yang Xu rolled her eyes, “It’s not like it makes that much of a difference. They landed safely without injury.”

“Sure. Then, how about we go check?” Yang Ji said and he opened a direct portal to the Recovery Hall.

“What are we betting on?” Yang Xu grinned this time, confident that this was in the bag.

*Hmmm…* Yang Ji paused for a long while, and seriously pondered for a moment.

However, it was Yang Xu who snapped her finger and pointed at Yang Ji, “If you lose, you will have to help me do something. I won’t say what it is now, I’ll tell you later.”

Yang Ji was a little taken aback at how Yang Xu’s eyes started glittering. It was a far cry from how she looked the past few days. “F-fine. If you lose, you will have to help me do something then.”

Thus, the two made a bet, with one already having an idea of what to demand, and the other assuming the other party also had no idea what to demand and just followed along, thinking that more time was needed to decide.
