    *Ziii*

A portal opened up and the Twins stepped into the Recovery Hall once more. The moment they did, they noticed that there were a few students that were shuffling about. Some were walking out towards the reception room, while some entered deeper into the plant-like buildings.

“Oh? They’re awake already.” Yang Ji commented as he saw a familiar face. It was one of the students that was in the name list. He was one of the earliest targets, which meant that he received one of the more basic Dao insights.

There were also other students here this time. Maybe they were here to visit their friends, or here because they were injured. Anyways, the Recovery Hall certainly had not been as crowded as this when the Twins first visited.

Yang Xu just continued with a confident smile as she looked around and gestured to another student, her voice only heard through Divine Sense, “Brother, see her? I was the one who moved her over here. See? No injuries, right?”

Yang Ji took a surreptitious scan using his Divine Sense, and indeed, there were no injuries.

Yang Ji then used his Divine Sense to check through the entire Recovery Hall… and only one person was injured…

Of course, when he focused on the child, that child was completely unfamiliar to him and his Sister. After all, this child was not on the list, and his injuries were due to another matter.

As others, Yang Ji’s Divine Sense naturally could not penetrate through the individual rooms, as those had a multitude of Arrays built into them, one of them being an Isolation Array.

Still, with his Divine Sense checking through the Area, Yang Ji began to frown… he truly got played by his Sister. [No wonder she wanted to make a bet so readily…]

This whole place, the Recovery Hall, was not just any ordinary space. It was akin to its own world, where plants and buildings seem to have merged, where vitality was in abundance and one would feel refreshed and invigorated inside. Not to mention any Pills, just staying here for a few days would help a person recover from any superficial injuries. In fact, it might not even take a few days with those Arrays…

[*Haa…* Why didn’t I think of this…] Yang Ji sighed in his heart and shook his head. If there had been any injuries, they would be long gone by now. This place, with its Arrays, might not help a person in gaining insight, but they certainly made students quickly return to class after an injury or illness.

It was just the school’s fortune that the Twins had managed to help occupy those ownerless beds for a prolonged period of time.

Yang Xu grinned and signalled to Yang Ji, “Brother, so how is it? Found anyone injured?”

Yang Ji paused for a moment then turned his head towards the reception desk, “I know what you’re playing at. And no, I haven’t found anyone that you’ve injured. But, I’m not willing to give up just yet.”

Yang Xu shrugged and rolled her eyes, “Come on. Just give up already. You know that I’ve won so let’s just settle the bet.”

“Mother said that a man must always honour their word, and I will do precisely that. But, this bet isn’t over until both of us agree to it. Even if their injuries have healed up by now, I’m sure some of those helping to carry them into their rooms would remember a thing or two.” Yang Ji quickened his pace and walked to the reception building outside, where the building at least looked more like a building than a plant.

Yang Ji looked around and saw that the familiar woman was nowhere to be seen. Instead, another person had taken over the reception desk. No, more actually, there were a few other women instead, but they were not as ‘bountiful’ as the previous one.

It made sense, after all. Initially, the reception building was not predicted to have that many people visiting. More intense programs were scheduled at the later part of the year, and since the school had just opened, the staff had to focus more on internal matters, like structuring their new workplace, planting, training, etc.

So, the reception building had been only left with that single woman. However, now that more time has passed with the Recovery Hall, Alchemy Hall and Plantation Hall all having been properly structured, along with sky high demand from visitors, it was no wonder the reception building had to assign more staff to man the counter.

Fortunately, when Yang Ji had come over, there was an empty counter with a woman smiling at him, forcibly. In fact, those who had recognised them seem to have apprehensive expressions on their faces for a moment before trying their best to hide it.

“G-Greetings, how may I assist you today?” For some reason, even when the woman was speaking with a smile, she seemed awfully nervous. Her luscious lips were quivering a little as she spoke.

“Hmm? Is something wrong?” Yang Ji could not help but notice how strange she was acting, the same for Yang Xu.

Small beads could be seen flowing down her skin as she quickly responded, “Nothing’s wrong. Please, how may I help you today?”

Yang Ji’s eyes narrowed for a moment, then he turned back to look at his Sister. He knew his curiosity was not the priority at the moment. So, he just let the matter slide and asked, “Back then, when we brought in students, were there any problems?”

The woman took a moment but still could not give a clear answer, “Erm… no… I don’t know…”

“Oh, were you not here? It’s impossible for you to forget otherwise, since you are in the Origin Returning Realm.” Yang Ji’s eyes narrowed as he tried to think of why she was acting like this.

The woman seemed to have gotten a little paler at that moment.

“Brother, could it be that she is nervous because she recognises us?” Yang Xu questioned through her Divine Sense, which made Yang Ji tilt his head in wonder. “But, the previous receptionist wasn’t like this, and I don’t think it is that hard to identify us.”

After all, who were Yang Ji and Yang Xu? They were experts in the Dao Source Realm, while most of these receptionists were in the Origin Returning Realm. Naturally, these receptionists would be able to easily see through all the children except for them. Furthermore, with them always appearing as a pair, how hard would it be to identify them? The moment any faculty member of the school could not detect a child’s cultivation, and that child was always accompanied by another child of the opposite gender, who else could they be but the infamous Twins?

“Well, maybe the previous receptionist simply didn’t know who we were. After all, we didn’t really cause a major incident at that time, unlike now.” Yang Xu said.

“I guess that’s possible. Let me ask first.” Yang Ji ceased using his Divine Sense to communicate with Yang Xu in secret and asked with his own voice, “Why are you acting like that? What is making you so nervous?”

“I’m so sorry Young Master Ji, and Young Mistress Xu. Please don’t make me disappear like Mei Qing.” The receptionist immediately lowered her head and pleaded. This naturally drew a lot more attention to her and the Twins, with some staff members turning pale and some students backing away.

Yang Ji frowned. He was never the kind of person that liked all this attention. So, he raised his hand and Space started to distort. Space Principles were warped and compressed, as they were forced to form a thick wall where no voice or Divine Sense would be able to pass through.

Seeing herself suddenly kidnapped into this unknown space, the woman was now begging for them to let her go.

Yang Ji turned to Yang Xu and questioned her, “Mei Qing? Mei Qing… I don’t think I’ve seen that name on the namelist. She isn’t anyone that I know of… she must be referring to the previous receptionist. But, I didn’t do anything to her, did you?”

Yang Xu rolled her eyes and questioned back, “Of course not. What would I even do with her?”

“But, if not you, then who? The fear that she is showing is real. So, something must have happened to her. And this is despite this being in the reception building, within a world Father has created.” Yang Ji pointed out.

Yang Ji then explained to the woman, trying to calm her down. “Please don’t panic, I’m just making these walls to stop people from eavesdropping on us. Mei Qing has just helped guide us to our classmate, Lei Ao. After we left, we did not meet again. How did you even get the idea that we did something to her?”

The woman’s eyes seem shifty. She just shook her head and pleaded, “Please, please just let me go. I will make any amends.”

“Wait… didn’t you hear what I said? What are you…” Yang Ji felt his heart drop. He never thought that others would be so afraid of him to such an extent.

He turned to look at his Sister, who also had the same bewildered expression.

[Argh… I just wanted to know if Yang Xu injured anyone during the process. Why did it have to turn out like this?] Yang Ji pondered over what he did wrong. He felt like if he said anything to this woman, all words would go in one ear and out the other. [Should I get someone else then?]

Yang Xu saw that he was about to open the wall and hurriedly stop him. She conveyed her thoughts secretly “Brother, can you let me try something first? Something’s fishy about this. I suspect even if we get another receptionist to answer, we’d just be going in circles.”

Seeing Yang Ji nod, Yang Xu had received his acknowledgement and started to put on a ferocious act.

“If you don’t tell me something I’d like to hear, you know how you will end up right?” Yang Xu purposely said it in a vague manner, and she even clenched her fist to cause the Space Principles around the woman to tighten.

Naturally, this caused the woman to panic even more. Her eyes danced between the two continuously as she exclaimed, “Please, I have to support my Mother. I’m begging you, please, just let me go. I’ll answer anything you wish.”

In her eyes, the young girl looked no different from a Demon ready to squeeze out all her Life Force, as she felt her body tightened and her breathing more like desperate gasps of air.

Of course, Yang Xu did not have any intention of hurting her. She merely just made use of Space Principles to make the space around the woman more dense, creating a pressure that squeezed every corner of her body. Though Yang Xu was just applying a slight pressure, with their difference in cultivation realm, it was no wonder the woman could not even offer any form of resistance and panicked.

Of course, even if Yang Xu mistakenly used too much strength, Yang Ji was there to help prevent any mishaps from occurring.

Yang Xu grinned evilly, “Tell me, what do you think I will do to you?”

The woman at this point had tears streaming down her face and she begged, “Please… please… have mercy. I-I can’t disappear like that. M-My Mother is still ill. I need to take care of her!”

[So, we are suspected of making people disappear? But, we have sent everyone on the list to the Recovery Hall. So, why are we being blamed for this?] Yang Xu wondered in her mind as her expression remained chilly.

“Sister, could it be that another student has disappeared, one that is not on the list? Then, mixed with that receptionist called Mei Qing, we are highly suspicious? After all, this may have been done while the two of us were busy with the students on the list. And, it might be the case where we were the last ones to meet with Mei Qing before she disappeared.” Yang Ji hypothesised but without any evidence, this was merely just speculation. Still, he did not see how else this sin they had not committed had fallen onto their heads.

Furthermore, if one were to consider their status within the High Heaven Academy, they would not be able to avoid

“Brother, but if it is as you say… then…” Yang Xu turned toward him and frowned.

Yang Ji gave a hard nod and then asked the being deep inside of him that had been silent until now. “What did you do to them? I know you are listening, so don’t pretend to be mute.”

This time, the Heavenly Demon Queen gave a response. She held nothing back, as though this secret was… of no importance, unlike the other mysteries. “I must confess, though unintentional, it would be most unbecoming of my station to allow such unwarranted blame to fall upon your shoulders.  It would be beneath my honour to allow your name to bear the burden of my transgressions. Therefore, I graciously yield to your inquiry, for it is the very least that honour demands of me.”

“That woman was not whom you think she is. It was I who removed her from where she stood, yet she is no longer in my company. As for the other student who has so conspicuously vanished, you both know who he is.” The Heavenly Demon Queen answered only that much and returned back to silence.

Yang Ji then turned to Yang Xu, “You heard her right? Then, the one who went missing is Wu Lun. But how can that be? Since even we could not trap him, did someone stronger than us take action? If so, then why did they pin the blame on us? Didn’t they even try to investigate? ”

Yang Xu shook her head. There were a few things Yang Ji did not know about the incident regarding the listed students. During those few days where they were having those students ‘spirited away’, there had not been any investigation. After all, basically, the whole faculty knew who was doing it. So, no investigation into any of the missing children would be brought up.

Secondly, this was a case where Wu Lun was involved. In their Parents’ eyes, he was both a mysterious and dangerous entity. So, when he disappeared, who would look for him? Yang Kai preferred that the school would have nothing to do with that young man, since even he could not see through him. Better not poke the hornets’ nest by getting too involved with him.

So, even if a case was brought out, as long as Wu Lun’s name was inside, Yang Kai would try his best to stay clear of him. If there was any investigation, he could not send out others lest they fell into danger. Best for him to investigate on his own.

In the end, the matter regarding the ‘kidnapping’, be it the students on the list or Mei Qing and Wu Lun, had been quietly suppressed by the higher ups. And, who were the children of these higher-ups? No one else but Yang Kai’s children stood at the very top of the hierarchy.

Considering this happened at the same time as Yang Ji and Yang Xu’s ‘sweep’ of students on the list, and how even the Principal was preventing an investigation, it was not difficult for some people to reach the conclusion that it was the Twins who made Mei Qing and Wu Lun vanish.

Yang Xu explained how the situation had panned out and Yang Ji just sighed, “Since the Heavenly Demon Queen admitted that she was the one who kidnapped Mei Qing, then these people are partially correct. Since the Heavenly Demon Queen is tied to us, technically, we are also at fault…”

This whole event just killed Yang Ji’s mood. “Alright, alright. I give in. If we need to ask the other receptionist and they all act like this, then there is no point. *Argh* and we didn’t even do anything wrong…”

Yang Ji had his palm on his face as he rubbed his eyes in frustration. He waved his hand and the three of them all returned to the reception building.

When they returned, there was clear panic in the reception building. After all, another receptionist had just been kidnapped, and this time, in broad-daylight!

Even if it were the Twins, this matter was too serious to cover up, as even students had seen who the culprits were. They would certainly need to report this matter to their superiors, even if they believed no repercussions would be dealt to the Twins.

When those two came back, obviously their hearts jumped. After all, even if Yang Ji had forced Yang Xu to release the receptionist they caught, manipulating Space Principles to both tear down the space they were in and his Sister’s grasp on the receptionist, the woman in question was still in tears, continuously pleading even after she had been returned back.

In fact, her pleading got even stronger once she got out of that space and saw others around her…

If one were to see such a situation, what would they normally think? That the Twins were having tea with her? Chatting casually?

Yang Ji and Yang Xu both sighed at that moment. They just wanted to return her back to her original place… they did not do anything to her… Yet, everyone around them was looking at them like they were sinister beasts.

Silavin: Sorry for the belated chapter. I didn’t really want to split this into two, despite the length. I felt like it was both a mystery that was not too deep, but I wanted to cover it in one chapter since a wait of 1 week would be a little too much.

Sure, the overall mystery has not been solved, but that one is a bigger question that the Twins would have to find out later. The Heavenly Demon Queen will definitely not state it at this juncture.
