“En, this is much better!” Yang Kai searched another ring and his foul mood was immediately fixed. Obviously, this ring was well stocked. Tossing it over to Gui Zu, Yang Kai said casually, “Supreme Elder should take a look, if you need anything, just help yourself.”
“Sect Master is too generous, hahahaha. Then, this old master won’t refuse,” Gui Zu had always been a loner, so it was difficult for him to find any good cultivation resources. Yang Kai browsed through the ring before putting on a strange expression, “There are indeed many good things, but there is also this…”
As he spoke, Yang Kai opened his hand and summoned a round, bowl-like artifact. This round bowl looked quite simple, but the aura which surrounded it made one’s Soul feel comfortable.
“Isn’t this the thing Zi Long summoned just now?” Gui Zu examined it curiously, “Oh, it’s made from Soul Sustaining Wood. No wonder it was able to collect the Soul of a dead cultivator. Purple Star really can’t be underestimated.”
Yang Kai just chuckled lightly and said, “It’s one of the top three forces in the Star Field. Without enough background and strength, it would have been eliminated long ago.”
As he spoke, his eyes flashed and he sent a stream of pure Spiritual Energy into the Soul Sustaining Bowl as he shouted, “Get out!”
The next moment, a miserable howl sounded from the Soul Sustaining Bowl and an illusory figure appeared inside it.
Naturally, it was Zi Dong.
Enduring the pain coming from his Soul, he looked around blankly but when he saw Yang Kai and Gui Zu smirking at him unkindly, his expression suddenly changed, “How could it be you?”
“If it wasn’t us, who else would it be?” Gui Zu taunted, causing Zi Dong’s Soul Avatar to tremble, as if it were about to break apart.
“Where is my father? Where is my father!?” Zi Dong yelled in a panic. He had been hiding inside the Soul Sustaining Bowl and thought that the next time he came out would be when his father helped him reshape his body. Seeing these two detestable faces instead, what was left of his Soul shivered and his blood ran cold, or it would have if he had any.
“Since we’re safe and sound, what do you think Zi Long’s fate was?” Yang Kai sneered.
Zi Dong’s expression changed as he shouted hysterically, “Impossible! That’s impossible! My father is Purple Star’s Sect Master, a Second-Order Origin King! There are not many in this world who can match him much less kill him. With just the two of you, it’s absolutely impossible such a thing happened!”
As he spoke, his confidence seemed to increase as he screamed at Yang Kai angrily, “Don’t lie to me!”
“Ha!” Yang Kai sneered, “Why would I bother lying to you? What good would that do me? Forget it, I do not want to bother with you anymore. Supreme Elder, your Soul Banner could use Soul for nourishment, right? I’ll leave this brat in your hands.”
“Jie Jie… sounds good,” Gui Zu smiled strangely as he took out the Ten Thousand Soul Banner, “In any case, he’s still a Third-Order Origin Returning Realm cultivator. After refining him, this old master’s Ten Thousand Soul Banner will surely strengthen once more.”

“You’re quite the dumb one aren’t you, kid? What benefits could you possibly give this old master in your current state? Come now, this old master’s Ten Thousand Soul Banner is hungry!” Gui Zu snorted coldly, remaining unmoved.
“A Star Emperor Token!” At that moment, Yang Kai suddenly let out a shout as a look of excitement filled his face. Taking a token out of Zi Long’s Space Ring, Yang Kai looked it over carefully before shouting once more, “It’s really a Star Emperor Token!”
Gui Zu stared at him in amazement, “Why are you so excited? This old master remembers giving you a Star Emperor Token back then, right? This one even seems to have been used long ago and no longer has any worth.”
The joy on Yang Kai’s face remained undiminished though as he simply glanced over at Gui Zu and said, “Supreme Elder may not know but there is a grand mystery hidden inside the Star Emperor Tokens. If one can collect all nine of them, this secret will be revealed.”
“A grand secret?” Gui Zu said with some suspicion, “Will that secret allow this old master to reach the peak of the Martial Dao?”
“May… maybe!” A weak voice came.
Yang Kai and Gui Zu stared at Zi Dong who had just spoken out.
“What do you know?” Yang Kai looked at him seriously. Regardless of anything else, Zi Dong was the Young Master of Purple Star, so there was a chance he did know some secrets about the Star Emperor Tokens.
Zi Dong’s Soul flickered slightly as he turned to Gui Zu and implored, “Senior, can you put away this artifact first? I… I’m quite scared.”
“Useless thing,” Gui Zu coldly snorted, reached out, and put away the Ten Thousand Soul Banner.
Zi Dong stood up inside the Soul Sustaining Bowl and wiped the non-existent cold sweat from his forehead, took a few breaths, then carefully asked, “If I tell you, will you let me go?”
“Supreme Elder, swallow him!” Yang Kai shouted loudly.
“With pleasure!” Gui Zu summoned the Ten Thousand Soul Banner again.
“Wait, wait, wait! I said wait! Please!” Zi Dong almost wept.
“Coward!” Yang Kai spat disdainfully.
“Talk!” Gui Zu also threatened from the side, urging the hostility of his Ten Thousand Soul Banner from time to time to create more pressure on Zi Dong.
Zi Dong sobbed as he haltingly spoke, “Wu wu… Actually, I don’t know much… But when I heard my father chatting with a few Elders once, I heard them say that if one collected all the Star Emperor Tokens, they would be able to… able to glimpse the secrets of the Great Emperor!”
“The secrets of the Great Emperor!” Both Yang Kai and Gui Zu were shocked.
“Is that true?” Yang Kai stared at Zi Dong fixedly.
“That is what I heard… and, it is said that those words were spoken by the Great Emperor himself back when he still roamed the Star Field. Why the hell is Yang kai shocked he can casually talk to the great emperor whenever he wants he can easily find out the secrets if he asks
I asked my self the same question… sometimes the author seems to forget stuff.

Well, so far all he knows is that by collecting all nine, one can open the gateway to the Upper Realm. Yang Yan has always been vague about any other benefits, as if she also couldn’t completely remember, which is only natural, since to her, they were no doubt trivial items.
Yea, i found it really weird, yang yan already told Yangkai before about those tokens, so him being surprised here doesn’t make sense, seems like it is true that the author tends to forget some minor details he wrote before.
Just like i mentioned before about gui zu not knowing what the stone puppets are when he saw them in those recent chapters, even tho i still remember back in the floating contient that Gui Zu told YK to take good care of those couple black stone (stone puppets eggs) cuz he knew what they were back then.
I miss YK friend and wifes I wish he return soon to his home and talk with then.
Yeah true, I enjoy his journeys alone but this novel really shines when he is around people. The author definetly plans to bring the main cast along for the ride, I just don’t get why he doesn’t allow Su Yan etc. to follow Yang Kai, wasn’t that something they always wanted to do? If it would be too easy or too difficult to construct a thrilling story with them along he should at least have them go on their own adventures, this way their cheat to catch up to Yang Kai in terms of power would only be half as ridiculous as it always is.
I have some issues with Gui Zu’s Soul Banner.
Gui Zu was an Saint King when he was trapped on the floating island so it’s unrealistic for him to already have an Origin King grade artifact.
Even if the Soul Banner has an upgrade function he’d still need a lot of souls for that, which he wouldn’t be able to get on the floating island.
So how the heck did he get it to Origin King grade 🤯
I think that question was self answered… remember the floating continent was a massive trap that killed countless people who tried to trespass, so finding enough souls to refine it isn’t the issue.. and it might just be something he looted there from some old wreckage?
They did say that the Chaotic Vortex was strong enough to destroy the soul if they died in it.
Also, those came later were tossed into that unstable void crack.
Remember the black soul attacking shadows from the Severed World? Even the whole lot couldn’t upgrade it.
Hmm, not sure but could it be that the secret they are talking about is just the different realm that Yang Kai already had a glimps at? I really wonder what kind of realm that will be. Originally I thought star fields would be like galaxys and even the Heng Luo Star Field would know it’s neighbors, but that wouldn’t really make sense on why the cultivation limit in different star fileds would be higher or why there are only so few visitors. Kind of difficult to think of a higher realm than space. The only thing I can come up with is the Heng Luo Star Field being a Mysterious “Small” World, that would be kinda funny 😅. Also seperated spaces like the Floating continent come to mind but that wouldn’t make sense aswell, because the Floating continent was a gathering place for world energy and the Heng Luo Star Field obviously doesn’t have that much world energy.
If you want to understand, read Desolate Era (probably the best cultivation light novel out there). You’ll learn about universes and Otherverses and Chaos worlds. Desolate Era is REALLY awesome. I wish I could wipe my memory and read it again.

This at the end was total BS…what could he learn from this idiot when he can talk to the great emperor herself. As for whatever secret everyone else is talking, it can only be speculation because i doubt that the emperor would tell anyone more about it than Yang Kai.
My guess is that, heng luo star field has been sealed by a barrier by yy. Those tokens are the keys to ooen the barrier and explore further, the lock seems to be in third forbidden zone of yy( forgot its name😅)….just like how tx relam star was sealed by demon king and yk broke the seal in a small world…..
Though i wonder does heng luo star field has a finite boundary and blocks from going further
I really like the concept of worlds in apotheosis where every cultivator has a world inside their knowledge seas/dantains. And in that world, the cultivators inside them have their own worlds in their knowledge seas

the Starry Sky is a void crack for the place YY and the Insect Master came from. She told him that he would even excel in that place. Basically where she came from he’d still be a monster cultivator, the key to get there and raise beyond a third order origin king are the emperor tokens. furthermore, the tokens sealed off any other Emperors from coming thru and destroying the starry sky like the insect master could have. The emperor or YY, came through spreading information and tokens to help the people grow and protect themselves. IMO…
Yeah, the author forgets alot of stuff, like his Nine Heavens skills, Demon Tome, Battle Soul Hall mirror, a bunch others including saying there was 10 instead of 9 tokens. Added that Gui Zu already knew that YK is an alchemist when he refined the seal breaking pill to free him from Lu Gu Chen Qi seal technique. Hell, he even forgot about the other sacred treasures like the Ginseng he got from his world and the Grass he got from Tong Xuan to keep his Yang Tree company. Now he even forgot about the Yang tree too despite it playing an important role of defending Dragon Cave Mountain.
🤔The Yin Yang Monster Ginseng was resolved though (Chapter 574).
YK never seems to absorb the souls of those who die near him any more. I mean he’s killed several Origin Kings and not once has there been any mention of gains from those types of things in hundreds of chapters.
