Volume 5 Chapter 223, Until Silva Gets Used To It_3 (: Grey)

POV: Gray
After a brief exchange with Lady Cyan and an explanation about why there was such a disproportionally magnificent church in the territory without many citizens, we parted ways with Lady Cyan and resumed our tour around Shiki and interacting with the people of the territory.
At first Lord Silva seemed a little depressed, perhaps because of yesterday’s accident, but his interaction with Lady Cyan seemed to have helped him relax a little. Now, strangely enough he seemed to be looking forward.
“Hey, by the way, I asked yesterday too, but is Shiki really that strange? That boy… Brown might have been strange, but the Sister is a devout believer… that Dark Mage looking person was suspicious though…”
Then Lord Silva posed a question to Lady Mary.
This tour around Shiki was suggested when Lord Silva voiced some doubts about Shiki during the girls’ night and for some reason was told by Lady Violet and the others, “Cyan is a person with common sense.” Personally, I don’t really understand it, and I haven’t expressed any disagreements, because I think it’s fine to give people an opportunity to learn more about the place where I grew up.
“Everybody is very unique. However…”
“However?”
“… That’s right. I would like to know more about the environment Violet and the others live in, and I think it would be better for you to find out about it as well, Silva.”
“? Alright. But this just reminded me once again that prejudice is bad, so even if somebody is called weird, it’s still just their own brand of uniqueness like Ms. Mary said. I’ll try to look at Shiki without any bias.”
“ You’ve grown up, Silva.”
“… Just so you know, we are classmates.”
“Hehe, I know.”
“I feel like you don’t…”
Lord Silva sulked, and seeing this, Lady Mary smiled kindly once again. Seeing that smile, Lord Silva was entranced for a moment, but then he quickly turned away, perhaps thinking that he was being treated like a child.
Still, I wonder what this is. Putting the movements aside, I feel like I know another name for a conversation like this. If I remember correctly, it was, umm…
“Hey, Apricot?”
“What’s wrong, Kriemhild?”
“I know what that kind of conversation is called”
“Yeah, I think I understand it too, somehow.”
“Yeah, that’s…”
“Don’t say it, Kriemhild… the tour around Shiki is just beginning.”
Oh, I remember now. I’m sure it was called jinxing.

“There are too many unique (strange) people in this place.”
During lunchtime, when clouds hung overhead but no snow was falling, we were sitting on space chairs conjured quickly by alchemy magic in a spot with a good view and enjoying light snacks and warm drinks prepared by Lady Apricot as Lord Silva muttered listlessly. His energetic attitude from earlier seemed like a lie.
“Ahaha, they’re all so unique and fun. Oh, this is delicious. Apricot, how did you season this?”
“If you go along with them, you’ll see that they’re all great people. Well, first I baked them and then spread butter on them.”
“To me, they are all people I deeply respect, but at first everybody looked tired. Ah, Lady Mary, here’s some hot soup.”
“Everybody is so lively. Thank you very much, Gray… Fuu, this is delicious.”
“Why are you all acting like it’s normal…? Even Ms. Mary and Kriemhild…”
For some reason, Lord Silva was puzzled.
Is this what Lord Clo meant by the Socratic Dialogue*? In other words, Lord Silva is questioning what normal means.
“Lord Silva, I would be delighted to answer your questions if you would be fine with me. They are all wonderful people, so you wanted to define and discuss the ever-changing meaning of what is normal, right?”
“I feel like there’s some strange misunderstanding going on… but I just want to ask something. I want to ask everybody, not just you, Gray…”
Upon hearing Lord Silva’s words, everybody stopped eating and looked at him.
I was also a little happy when Lady Apricot gave me a thumbs up and said, “That was a good phrasing, my Disciple.”
“Who was that girl holding a poisonous plant and laughing suspiciously?”
“It was Lady Emerald. She’s a wonderful pharmacist with excellent pharmaceutical skills and has received a license to compound medicine at her young age. Her motto is ‘No written knowledge beats firsthand experience’, and apparently consuming poison and healing it within her own body brings her, um… excitement and ecstasy.”
“…I see. Then who was that blacksmith whose eyes got a little bloodshot the moment he saw Gray, and who upon seeing me muttered, ‘if only he was a bit shorter…’?”
“As I explained back there, he’s a legendary blacksmith from the Empire. Mr. Bligh is the one who made Char’s current sword. Also, he was mumbling something about how it would be fine as long as put on shorts, Silva.”
“Thank you for the most unpleasant information, Kriemhild. Then, what about the patient who was pierced by swords and lances and the doctor who was excitedly healing them? That was clearly a major incident, no?!”
“The patient was Mrs. Beige. The Beiges are a couple who believe killing each other is a form of love. Most of their wounds heal by themselves, but they sometimes end up with wounds they cannot heal on their own. And the doctor was Mr. Ivory who loves to heal wounds. It seems that to him the injuries of the Beige couple are always the new kind so he can’t contain his excitement about them.”
“Where should I start with this?! Also, why are a goblin and a female knight married?! Aren’t they supposed to be mortal enemies?!”
“Isn’t it wonderful? I was so moved. I got a glimpse of one possible form of love. They’re such a sweet, lovey-dovey couple.”
“Even you, Ms. Mary?! How can you all be so accepting?! This is just… just…”
For some reason, Lord Silva put his hands on the ground and hung his head. I wonder if the coldness of the snow on the ground didn’t bother him?
Suddenly, Kriem came over to Lord Silva, who had his head hung down, patted him on the shoulder as if to calm him down, and spoke to him.
“Are you okay? I’ve heard that touching a woman’s breasts can calm you, regardless of gender. Would you like to touch mine? Maybe it’ll calm you down.”
“I’m not going to touch anything. Kriemhild, you should learn to be more modest.”
“I see… So you prefer Mary after all. Hers are much bigger than mine, and they have a beautiful shape.”
“Eh?”
“Huh?… Would you like to touch them? If it calms you down, I don’t mind.”
“N-no, it’s fine! I’m fine!”
Lord Silva’s face burnt up and he shook his head vigorously from side to side.
Touching a woman’s bosom helps a person calm down… I wonder if that’s true. But Kriem is saying it so it must be true.
However, it’s rude to touch the body of the opposite sex when they are not particularly close. If I had to try it… I guess it would be with Lady Apricot.
“Do you want to touch, my Disciple?”
As I looked at Lady Apricot, she asked me if I wanted to touch her.
However, unfortunately I wasn’t as emotional as Lord Silva at the moment so I just quietly shook my head.
“No, I am calm right now so I see no necessity for it.”
“I see. If you’re ever flustered, you can touch them. I would also like to see if it really works.”
“Yes, I will be in your care then,”
Still, I’ve never heard that touching a woman’s chest can calm you down. I wonder if it’s connected to a so-called Mother’s touch? Lord Khaki often declares how much he loves it, so it must be something like that.
Next time, I’ll teach it to Lord Clo and Lady Violet. If it works when you’re flustered, maybe I should nudge Lord Clo to throw himself at Lady Violet. Alright, I’ll do that next time.
“… Does that mean they’re very close?”
“… You’re probably right. They’re not even conscious of each other, because of how close they are. “
When I looked over at Lord Silva, I saw Kriem and Lord Silva looking at us and talking about something. I tried to ask them what was wrong, but they skillfully dodged my questions.
… I wonder what was that about?
