Many cultivators stood on the wall of Lone Cloud City with two people at the head.

One of them was a towering man with broad shoulders. The other person was a curvy and charming woman whose hair had been tied into a bun.

They were the two Divine Ocean Realm Masters who were in charge of Lone Cloud City Pass, Wan Zhanggang and Tan Yaoniang.

It was normal for both Grand Sky Coalition and Thousand Demon Ridge to have two Divine Ocean Realm Masters in one Pass. Some of the important Passes even had more than two Divine Ocean Realm Masters, but there wouldn’t be more than five.

Although there were many Divine Ocean Realm Masters in Jiu Zhou, both sides had many Passes that they needed to protect. As such, every Pass couldn’t possibly have too many Divine Ocean Realm Masters.

On the other hand, only one person was in charge of the entire Blue Flame Mountain Pass. It was unprecedented in the history of both sides.

There was no doubt Nian Yuexian was powerful, but the more important reason was that she was a Ghost Cultivator, and she wasn’t one in the traditional sense at that.

She indeed had no subordinates, but over the years, her opponents at Lone Cloud City Pass wouldn’t dare invade her territory. That was because, without Lone Cloud City Pass’ protection, the two Divine Ocean Realm Masters wouldn’t be a match for Nian Yuexian, though there were a small number of people in the world who could avoid getting assassinated by the woman.

Presently, Wan Zhanggang and Tan Yaoniang looked into the distance while standing on the wall of Lone Cloud City. The current of fiery lights was so imposing that they were flabbergasted.

“Get ready for war!” Wan Zhanggang ordered loudly with a stern gaze. In fact, his voice was deafening even when he spoke normally. “Damn it! Where did Ying Wuji attract such things from?”

“It’s said that these creatures came back to life in underground lava. They went to collect Flames of Earthen Spirits and accidentally triggered something. Perhaps these things were left behind in the last era.”

Wan Zhanggang sneered. “I haven’t met Fire Spirit Race members in a long time.”

“You have to be careful. Someone might seize the chance to harm you.” Tan Yaoniang reminded him in a solemn voice.

Naturally, Wan Zhanggang knew what she was wary of, so he nodded. “Don’t worry. I know what to do.”

As they spoke, Lu Ye and Ying Wuji arrived at Lone Cloud City Pass. The next moment, they landed on the wall at the same time.

Ying Wuji let out a breath. It wasn’t until this moment that the sense of danger in his heart dissipated. It was horrifying to be hunted down by a group of Fire Spirit Race members.

He turned to look at Lu Ye, who appeared calm and collected. There wasn’t even a hint of uneasiness or fear in his eyes.

Ying Wuji couldn’t help but think that the man was brave.

Lu Ye was a cultivator from the Grand Sky Coalition who was only in the Real Lake Realm, but he had so brazenly entered a Thousand Demon Ridge’s Pass and managed to remain composed. He was probably the only person who could do that in history.

Such an incident was unseen and unheard of before. Even if the tale was told, no one would believe it.

However, Ying Wuji understood that those from Thousand Demon Ridge were just unaware of what was going on.

Lu Ye had come to this place with Ying Wuji. Even though his face wasn’t shown as he was wearing a face mask, those from Lone Cloud City Pass wouldn’t regard him as an enemy. They would subconsciously think that he was Ying Wuji’s friend.

Unfortunately for Ying Wuji, he had made a Heavenly Oath that he wouldn’t expose Lu Ye’s identity in any way, which was why he was frustrated.

Many people stood on the wall of Lone Cloud City Pass. The atmosphere was solemn as war was about to break out.

Although a lot of cultivators were stationed in Lone Cloud City Pass in the past, there weren’t as many cultivators as now. After what happened to the Cloud River Battlefield, many Cloud River Realm Masters had nowhere else to go, so they came to the frontlines where the two sides clashed. As such, they had a lot of manpower here now.

On the wall, there were Wards at certain intervals. The cores of those Wards were all powerful and expensive large Spirit Artifacts.

These Wards and Spirit Artifacts formed Lone Cloud City Pass’ impenetrable defence line.

There used to be such defences in Blue Flame Mountain Pass as well, but they were mostly unusable due to disrepair.

Although it wasn’t Lu Ye’s first time taking part in a large-scale war, he was still amazed by how well-organised the cultivators in Jiu Zhou were. It was unlike any of his experiences in the Hidden Realms.

Before the war even started, those from Lone Cloud City Pass gave off a feeling that they were impregnable.

The closest war he could think of was when they had to fend off a massive number of beasts in Two Realms in Myriad Beast Domain. However, that war was limited to the Cloud River Realm, so it was incomparable to the one that was about to break out.

Looking at it from another perspective, if those from the Grand Sky Coalition wanted to conquer such a Pass, they would have to pay a huge price.

Deafening growls were heard coming from a distance. The current of fiery lights was only ten kilometres away from Lone Cloud City Pass. Many Fire Spirit Race members were aflame, making the Void look contorted. They seemed determined to burn down whatever got in their way.

“Kill them!” someone suddenly ordered from somewhere on the wall.

The next moment, many loud noises were heard. On the wall, many cultivators activated their powers and infused them into the Wards, which instantly lit up. The power of the Spirit Stones in the Wards was absorbed, and they soon turned into powder.

    *Boom! Boom! Boom!*

From the Wards, light columns shot into the distance in an imposing manner.

As the Wards were running, the large Spirit Artifacts and Spell Artifacts that had been placed in the cores were activated. Amidst the noises, they launched destructive attacks at the Fire Spirit Race members.

Lu Ye lifted his gaze and saw many different attacks shooting from the wall.

The attacks that looked like a huge web covered a large area. Any Fire Spirit Race members who were struck by the attacks would be cut into pieces.

There were also light columns that could cause serious damage. Wherever they went, they could form a vacuum area amidst the Fire Spirit Race members. The enemies who came into contact with the light columns would be turned into dust.

There were also lethal Sword Qi and Saber Lights that were cast at the enemies. It seemed that even the Void would be cut into pieces.

Lu Ye only observed everything in silence, but deep within, he wasn’t as calm as he appeared.

Given the power of these attacks, even Divine Ocean Realm Masters would end up in a horrible state if they were struck. Naturally, serious damage could be done to these Fire Spirit Race members, whose powers varied.

Wards could help cultivators amplify their powers, and they were best used in wars.

That said, those destructive attacks were activated through Wards with Spirit Artifacts and Spell Artifacts as the cores. No cultivator could use these Artifacts on their own. They had to rely on the Wards to have sufficient powers to activate those Artifacts.

Also, every time the Wards were used, it would require lots of energy. The Spirit Stones in the Wards had to be replaced immediately. Otherwise, there wouldn’t be enough energy to initiate the next round of attacks.

Besides that, the Spirit Artifacts and Spell Artifacts, which served as the cores, would easily be damaged during the turmoil. As such, there were cultivators who would frequently examine the Artifacts to determine if repair or replacement was needed.

A Ward that was used to fend off the enemies usually required a small team to work closely together. Within a small team, there had to be one Real Lake Realm Master at the very least.

Those from Lone Cloud City Pass didn’t cast all of their attacks at once. Instead, they continuously launched their attacks at different times to make sure the enemies wouldn’t have breathing space. The cultivators in the Wards worked perfectly well together, which went to show how closely knitted they were.

Everything seemed to be going well for them. Considering the dense and powerful attacks, regardless of how many Fire Spirit Race members there were, all of them would be slaughtered. There was no way they could go anywhere near three kilometres from the city.

But soon, the situation changed for the worse.

After many Fire Spirit Race members were killed, a powerful aura suddenly emerged from them.

The cultivators who felt the aura were astounded. That was because the strength of the aura was in the Divine Ocean Realm.

Previously, there were Real Lake Realm beings among the Fire Spirit Race, but those from Thousand Demon Ridge had no regard for them. However, the Divine Ocean Realm was different. No one could ignore such a being.

Even Wan Zhanggang and Tan Yaoniang donned solemn expressions. They looked intently and found a special Fire Spirit Race member among their enemies.

The Fire Spirit Race member was aflame as his skin was bright orange. His eyes radiated a glow that made them look like two mini Suns.

After he revealed his aura, all the Fire Spirit Race members streamed towards him. Then, something unbelievable happened.

Their auras quickly merged with one another, causing the Fire Spirit Race member in the Divine Ocean Realm to become stronger.

The incident alone was not much of a concern. The crux of the problem was that as they did that, the auras of other Fire Spirit Race members were strengthened as well.

It was as though these Fire Spirit Race members possessed powers that far surpassed their own in a short time.

Naturally, one’s power wouldn’t increase exponentially for no reason, but with so many of them joining forces, their auras could be fortified.

“It’s…” Wan Zhanggang’s expression changed. Suddenly, he recalled something he had seen in an ancient book. “Helping Each Other Out!”

It wasn’t a compliment or a statement; it was a Secret Technique that exclusively belonged to Five-Element Spirit Races.

Five-Element Spirit Races were natural experts in many Secret Techniques. The ancestors of Humans had invented many Glyphs by studying the Five-Element Spirit Races’ Secret Techniques.

Helping Each Other Out was the strongest Secret Technique of Five-Element Spirit Races. The Secret Technique alone wasn’t powerful, but it could allow Five-Element Spirit Races to connect their auras.

That way, they could join forces and use powers that far surpassed their own.

Due to the unique way Five-Element Spirit Races produced offspring, it was easy for them to use this Secret Technique. There was no hurdle. However, it was difficult for Humans to activate such a Secret Technique.

Every Human was an individual being with a distinct aura. It was almost impossible for their auras to merge.

Humans could come together as formations, but in order to do that, they had to practise for a long time in advance. Only then could they work well together at the most critical moment.

They were significantly inferior to Five-Element Spirit Races in this regard.

“Do we even have any blood feud with them?” Wan Zhanggang appeared helpless. “These guys are out of their minds!”
