Standing in front of the insectoid passageway, Lu Ye summoned the Dragon Throne. As crackles were heard, a massive figure appeared while wearing the Dragon Throne.
The sluggishness he felt in his body instantly vanished. His Spiritual Power could run smoothly again, and his cultivation was no longer suppressed.
Lu Ye became at ease.
He insisted on going deep into the chasm not because he had wanted to do it on a whim. Instead, he had the confidence which came from the Dragon Throne.
The invisible Yuan Metal Force Field could disrupt the flow of Spiritual Power within a cultivator by penetrating his body and forming intangible obstacles.
If the flow of a cultivator’s Spiritual Power was like a river, the obstacles formed by the Yuan Metal Force Field were like levees. It was the presence of these levees that affected the flow of a cultivator’s Spiritual Power.
It wasn’t difficult to solve the problem, though. One just had to block out the Force Field’s influence on himself.
However, it was easier said than done. Most cultivators were unable to do that.
That said, the Dragon Throne could do just that. The Armour Golem which covered Lu Ye entirely could block out the influence of Yuan Metal Force Field on him. That was why he wasn’t affected now.
Nevertheless, Lu Ye couldn’t sustain wearing the Dragon Throne indefinitely, for it was energy-draining. He had only summoned the item to give it a try.
After confirming that his idea was feasible, he quickly kept the Dragon Throne. It was his trump card for protecting himself when venturing into the insectoid passageway, so he wouldn’t use it unless his life was at risk.
Moreover, the Dragon Throne exuded a savage aura. The fluctuations of Spiritual Power were attractive to the insectoids. If he put on the Dragon Throne inside the insectoid passageway, it would be like igniting a torchlight in the darkness. Nearby insectoids would be drawn to him.
A lot of insectoids had been attracted to him now. Rustles were heard coming from the depths of the insectoid passageway as a lot of auras were getting closer.
Lu Ye stood in front of the insectoid passageway and wielded his saber, getting into an intense battle with them.
Half a day later, fewer insectoids came pouncing on him.
Since he faced less pressure now, he tried to activate the Tree of Glyphs’ power.
The Tree of Glyphs was an abstruse being. In the past, he had repeatedly made use of the Tree of Glyphs’ power to fend off the heat energy. He wondered if it could drive off the influence of Yuan Metal Force Field.
As a thought flashed in his mind, his body was densely covered with small and invisible roots. The sluggishness in his body had been reduced slightly, but he was still affected by Yuan Metal Force Field. It seemed that the Tree of Glyphs’ power was able to fend off Yuan Metal Force Field to a certain extent, but its ability was inferior to that of the Dragon Throne.
Perhaps this had something to do with how many times the Tree of Glyphs had transformed. So far, the Tree of Glyphs had only transformed once, but Lu Ye could feel that it wasn’t its limit. With enough energy, the Tree of Glyphs would transform again at the right time.
Perhaps the Tree of Glyphs would be able to ward off the influence of Yuan Metal Force Field after several transformations, but it couldn’t do that now.
He wasn’t disappointed, though. He was already pleased with the outcomes.
Now that he had some moves to protect himself, he was ready to enter the insectoid passageway.
He set his eyes on an insectoid, which looked like a scarab. It was massive and exuded a powerful aura. This was the strongest insectoid he had come across after he entered the chasm. It was only some distance away from becoming a great insectoid.
Lu Ye didn’t kill the insectoid not because he couldn’t do it. Instead, he needed to use the insectoid to do something else.
The way insectoids attacked was simple. They usually relied on their bodily advantages. For example, this scarab only knew how to bite with its mouth and wield its sharp legs.
Lu Ye avoided the other insectoids’ attacks and stood atop the scarab. Then, he pressed his hand against its head and activated his Soul Power.
An invisible force swept across the place. Nearby insectoids were rooted to the spot. The weaker ones were so severely impacted that they blacked out.
The entire place fell silent at that moment.
However, Lu Ye could feel the resistance coming from the scarab.
It was true that insectoids were unintelligent, but every living creature was born with a Soul Power. Even a newborn had its own Soul Power, not to mention insectoids in the Divine Ocean Realm. They had strong Soul Powers, but they didn’t know how to use them.
The resistance came from the scarab’s Divine Soul which tried to protect itself. Now, Lu Ye had to tear apart its Soul Power Shield in the shortest time possible.
His Soul Power impacted the other party like waves in quick succession. After three times of attacks, he finally felt that the scarab’s resistance was gone.
This meant that the insectoid’s Soul Power Shield had been shattered.
Lu Ye immediately activated Soul Control.
A moment later, the scarab gradually became silent. When the nearby insectoids came to their senses, they calmed down and crawled out of the place as driven by instincts.
Only the scarab turned around and entered the insectoid passageway.
Atop the scarab, Lu Ye had concealed his presence and restricted his aura. He hid beneath the scarab’s wings, revealing no aura at all.
The insectoid passageway was pitch black. As long as he revealed no aura, he wouldn’t have to worry about other insectoids discovering his presence.
He had no idea if other Divine Ocean Realm Masters responsible for exploring the chasms had thought about this idea in the past. However, to carry out this idea, one needed to have a way to enslave an insectoid. Most cultivators were unable to do that.
Even if some Beastmasters were able to use some special skills to control insectoids, they couldn’t perfectly conceal their presence and auras for a long time.
Therefore, Lu Ye reckoned that he was the only one in Jiu Zhou who could use this way to look for the insectoid nest.
He felt the burden weighing on his shoulders as this was an important matter.
All the insectoids were crawling out of the passageway, so the fact that only the scarab was moving in the opposite direction was odd. Fortunately for Lu Ye, the insectoids were unintelligent. Even though the incident was strange, no insectoids were bothered by it.
If a Human had done so, he would’ve been stopped and interrogated by other people.
The insectoid passageway wasn’t a straight line towards the depths. Instead, it was meandering and the spaces within the insectoid passageway were different. Some parts were wide enough to let more than ten insectoids pass through, but some parts were so narrow that only one to two insectoids could move through.
Lu Ye only expanded his Divine Ego to a limited extent to scan his surroundings. He was trying to find the right path. If he let the scarab wander around on its own, he wouldn’t know where the insectoid would bring him.
There were many paths within the insectoid passageway which were opened up by the insectoids. They were adept at opening up passageways beneath the ground. After all, they were born with this ability.
That said, Lu Ye knew he had to keep going deeper. That way, he wouldn’t lose his way even though there were many paths.
He had a feeling that if he went up through the paths, they would lead to different chasms in various locations.
There was no light at all. In such a dark environment, he had lost track of time. All he could hear were the rustles of insectoids crawling forward and the squirming of their mouths. The entire passageway was filled with the auras of different insectoids.
Lu Ye thought that even though the journey was boring, nothing would go wrong. Much to his surprise, he eventually came across danger.
When a canine insectoid brushed past the scarab, it suddenly stopped in its tracks and turned to stare at the scarab. Then, it started growling.
As if having received an instruction, nearby insectoids stopped and streamed towards the scarab.
Lu Ye instantly knew his presence had been exposed.
Without hesitation, he leapt into the air from the scarab’s back. Before he even landed on the ground, he had summoned the Dragon Throne.
He had no idea how deep beneath the ground he was. After all, the passageway was meandering, so he couldn’t keep track of how deep he had gone. However, the Yuan Metal Force Field was so strong that only half of his power was left at this depth.
With only such a limited power, he had no choice but to summon the Dragon Throne in this environment.
The moment he put on the Dragon Throne, he charged towards the canine insectoid and brought down his Dragon Spine Saber.
The canine insectoid didn’t expect the turn of events. When the saber was brought down, it was too late for the insectoid to run away. The sharp saber directly cut the insectoid in half as its emerald blood scattered everywhere.
It was a great insectoid, after all. If Lu Ye were to deal with it head-on, it would’ve taken him some effort to kill it. Since he had flared up all of a sudden, he could easily destroy it with only one move.
In the darkness, his eyes left behind two streaks of red light as he charged around the place. The massive figure carried with him a deadly aura.
The lights disappeared in just five breaths of time. Lu Ye was surrounded by the carcasses of the insectoids. Only the scarab dazedly remained in the same spot.
He quickly took off the Dragon Throne and dashed towards the canine insectoid’s carcass. Then, he activated his Spiritual Power and showered himself with the insectoid blood.
He had been negligent. Although he could conceal his presence and aura, he couldn’t cover up his smell.
The canine insectoid sniffled when it brushed past the scarab earlier, which was why Lu Ye was exposed. The canine insectoid detected the smell of a Human.
The insectoid blood was sticky, so it felt uncomfortable to be covered in it. However, that was the last of Lu Ye’s concerns at this point.
A while later, he landed on the scarab’s back and hid under its wings, after which even more insectoids came over from different paths.
They had detected the fluctuations of Spiritual Power, so they came to find out what was going on.
Nonetheless, all they could see were the carcasses of their companions. They didn’t have the intelligence to figure out what had happened.
Following some rustles, they dispersed.
The scarab left the battlefield and went deeper into the passageway.
Lu Ye discovered something interesting. After he showered himself with the canine insectoid’s blood, he realised that the Yuan Metal Force Field had less influence on him.
Initially, half of his cultivation had been suppressed, but now, the suppression had weakened to a certain extent.
He was excited about this discovery, not expecting that insectoid blood could help block out the influence of Yuan Metal Force Field. Although it couldn’t do so completely, it could weaken the influence.
