They soon moved across several dozen kilometres.

Upon their arrival, they didn’t see many traces of the battle. The two Divine Ocean Realm Masters were contending with each other in mid-air, so there naturally wouldn’t be many traces.

After looking around, they still couldn’t find Xiang Dongliu.

Judging from the noise of the battle and the momentary exclamation in the end, Xiang Dongliu must’ve been badly injured. It was a wonder whether he was dead or alive, and he was nowhere to be found. There was only one possibility.

Lu Ye stood atop Foggy Cliff and looked down. Without much hesitation, he said, “I’ll go down to look for him.”

The environment beneath Foggy Cliff was strange. Not only could the fog inhibit the Divine Ego, but it was also full of dust made from Yuan Metal ores. The further down one went, the more his Spiritual Power would be suppressed.

If a cultivator reached the bottom, it was hard for him to activate his power. It would also be troublesome for him to climb back up.

Anyway, it wasn’t like he couldn’t come back up. He could climb up the rock face, after all.

“I’ll go with you,” Xiao Xinghe said.

Lu Ye dipped his head. Just as he was ready to take the plunge, he stopped and frowned solemnly while listening intently.

“What’s that sound?” Lin Yinxiu noticed an anomaly as well. After all, she was the strongest cultivator at the scene. Since she didn’t have a Divine Ego, her perception wasn’t as sensitive as that of Lu Ye, which was why she detected the anomaly a little later.

Soon enough, the others heard the noise as well.

Some strange buzzing and rustling sounds were approaching them from the bottom of Foggy Cliff.

“Some things are coming up!” Lu Ye shouted. Judging from the noise, regardless of what those things were, there were a lot of them.

“Retreat!” Lu Ye ordered and led them to fly backwards. It wasn’t until they moved across 300 metres that they stopped in their tracks and turned around to look.

The noise coming from Foggy Cliff intensified as the fog started rolling violently. A thing the size of a Human dashed out of the fog while its wings flapped in the air.

Under the Moonlight, they could clearly see the strange-looking figure.

“It’s an insectoid!” Li Baxian exclaimed.

The being that emerged from the fog was an insectoid in the form of a mantis.

All Jiu Zhou cultivators were familiar with insectoids. After all, insectoid attacks happened frequently on the Spirit Creek Battlefield. Many cultivators had witnessed how destructive the insectoids could be.

However, the insectoid before Li Baxian’s eyes was much larger than anything he had seen on the Spirit Creek Battlefield. It was also more powerful as it was covered in a ferocious aura.

This insectoid’s power was equivalent to that of a Cloud River Realm Master.

All of them felt a crawling sensation on their scalps.

Naturally, they wouldn’t lose their composure if it was only one insectoid in the Cloud River Realm. Nevertheless, they knew that insectoids always came in a group.

They usually took action as an army. Moreover, since there were insectoids, there must be an insectoid nest as well.

As they recalled the noise they had heard earlier, they were terrified.

The fog continued to roll as more and more insectoids emerged from Foggy Cliff. In the blink of an eye, they could see nothing else but insectoids.

Those insectoids came in different forms and sizes. Some were flying like mantises while some were walking on all fours like hyenas. There were also some that were covered in bone armour with sharp barbs on their shoulders which radiated an icy glint under the Moonlight. Some were like centipedes as they quickly crawled across the ground with their many legs.

The first mantis insectoid had discovered the presence of Lu Ye and the others, so it flapped its wings and flew towards them.

Many insectoids in different forms followed the mantis closely.

Li Baxian cast his flying swords which shot through the insectoids. As the Sword Light flickered, many insectoids fell to the ground.

Feng Yuechan assisted Li Baxian in killing the enemies by continuously casting her spells.

Even Yi Yi, who had been hiding inside Amber, emerged and used her spells to deal with the enemies.

Although the three of them were fairly powerful, they found it difficult to deal with the storm of insectoids.

Soon enough, many insectoids reached them.

Ju Jia stood in front of everyone. Lu Ye, Xiao Xinghe, and Lin Yinxiu stood on each side of Ju Jia as they cast their weapon lights to kill the insectoids.

Lu Ye donned a solemn expression.

He had experienced the insectoid attack once on the Spirit Creek Battlefield. However, it was much easier to deal with those insectoids than the ones before his eyes now. After all, the insectoids were on the Spirit Creek Battlefield, so their powers were naturally not strong.

Nevertheless, these insectoids now were as powerful as Cloud River Realm Masters. It wouldn’t be difficult to deal with them if there weren’t many of them, but it would be a disaster if there were too many of them.

Lu Ye couldn’t figure out why there were so many insectoids beneath Foggy Cliff.

He wondered why they weren’t discovered sooner. After all, insectoids had low sentience. They couldn’t stay at the bottom of the cliff forever without showing up.

He then recalled their task this time. A Nightingale had reported that there seemed to be an ominous beast here. Upon their arrival, they killed a Green-Scaled Python which was harming some people. That was why they thought that the Green-Scaled Python was the ominous beast that the Nightingale had discovered.

What if it wasn’t the case? The Nightingale might have noticed the noise of the insectoids at the bottom of Foggy Cliff instead of the Green-Scaled Python.

Lu Ye didn’t have time to think too deeply about it. After the six of them contended with the insectoids for a while, he ordered, “Let’s go!”

If they stayed there, they would be surrounded by insectoids. Although many insectoids had been killed in a short time, they could still see countless insectoids in front of them.

Furthermore, Lu Ye could sense that the insectoids coming from Foggy Cliff weren’t limited to the Cloud River Realm. Some were even in the Real Lake Realm.

Although he hadn’t detected the presence of any insectoids in the Divine Ocean Realm, they had to be cautious.

Following his order, all of them shot into the sky and made their way through the storm of insectoids before hurriedly leaving in a particular direction. Many insectoids were relentlessly running after them, but Li Baxian killed them with his flying swords.

“Lin Yinxiu, send a message to the Ministry of Laws and inform the Commander that there’s an insectoid attack here. Also, the manager of the Ministry of Laws, Xiang Dongliu, was defeated by a mysterious female cultivator. It’s not certain whether he’s dead or alive.”

“Yes.” Lin Yinxiu quickly received the order.

“Senior Sister Feng, send a message to the Devoted Ones and ask them to destroy the insectoids.”

The Devoted Ones was the strongest Sect within a radius of 1,000 kilometres around here. Since an insectoid attack had broken out, an average Sect or family couldn’t handle the matter. Even a Tier-Six family like the Chen Family was powerless against the insectoid attack. Even if Team D9 never destroyed the Chen Family, they wouldn’t have survived the insectoid attack.

Lu Ye and the others could only rely on the Devoted Ones. If reinforcements arrived in time, there would be a chance to stop the insectoid attack from spreading.

Feng Yuechan hurriedly sent a message. As Lu Ye spoke, he arrived at a particular place and hovered in mid-air.

This was where the Chen Residence’s front yard was located. When Chen Lie led them to the Chen Residence, they passed by this area. According to Chen Lie, this was where the Chen Family members who didn’t have the aptitude to become cultivators lived. There were around 2,000 to 3,000 people.

All the Chen Family cultivators were dead, so only the commoners were left behind. Since the insectoid attack had broken out, these commoners wouldn’t stand a chance to survive if no one saved them.

Although Lu Ye had just gotten into an intense fight with the Chen Family and almost annihilated them, the other party was at fault. He still didn’t understand why those from the Chen Family did such a thing.

However, he couldn’t bring himself to ignore these commoners.

When he arrived at the front yard, he shouted, “The insectoid attack has broken out. If you want to stay alive, go somewhere else and hide. Make sure to hide in secretive places. Quick!”

In the front yard, many commoners were already suffering from insomnia that night because they heard the noise of a battle at the main building. They had no idea what was going on. Many people had awakened in shock. Presently, they were gathering somewhere and discussing if they should go to the main building and have a look.

Before they even made a decision, they heard Lu Ye shouting from mid-air.

Although these commoners had never cultivated before, they had some knowledge about the Cultivation World as they were from the Chen Family. Naturally, they had heard of the insectoid attack before.

Since Lu Ye sounded anxious, these Chen Family members were instantly flustered. Fortunately, with some respectable old men in charge, they soon dispersed and went into hiding following the order.

Lu Ye turned around and saw a dark cloud rising from Foggy Cliff under the Moonlight as it was approaching him. The dark cloud was full of large insectoids. There were countless of them.

He didn’t stay there any longer. After giving the Chen Family members a heads-up, he immediately flew away and fished out some Explosive Fire Spirit Stones from his Storage Bag. He cast them while running away.

Booms were continuously heard alongside the violent fluctuations of Spiritual Power. Many insectoids were drawn to the noise and charged towards the source of the sound.

Although the insectoids had low sentience, they had a sensitive perception of the fluctuations of Spiritual Power. Lu Ye had discovered that when he was on the Spirit Creek Battlefield. He didn’t dare to let the insectoids stay in the front yard, so he could only use this way to attract their attention and lure them away.

As for how effective the method was or how many commoners would survive in the end, he couldn’t affect the outcome. He had done his best, but the Heavens would determine the outcome.

“Team Leader, the Commander told us to protect ourselves first,” Lin Yinxiu suddenly said.

Naturally, Lu Ye knew they had to protect themselves first, but in this situation, he had to lure the insectoids away.

“What’s the response from the Devoted Ones?” Lu Ye asked.

Feng Yuechan hurriedly replied, “They’ve sent some people to come over.”

“Alright!” Lu Ye shouted while continuing to cast the Explosive Fire Spirit Stones. The series of noises came with the fluctuations of Spiritual Power. Behind them, the insectoids ran after them like a tide.

Lu Ye could feel many powerful auras coming from the insectoids. He wondered if any of them were in the Divine Ocean Realm.

“Let’s part ways!” Lu Ye said and picked up Amber from his shoulder before tossing the tiger at Ju Jia. Then, he turned around and moved in a different direction. A pair of red wings expanded from behind him as his pace quickened.

    “Lu Ye!” Yi Yi exclaimed.

“Let’s go!” Xiao Xinghe shouted and flew in a different direction.

Booming sounds faded into the distance. A moment later, they turned around and realised not many insectoids were running after them. However, there were countless insectoids behind Lu Ye. They couldn’t help but feel worried.
