Chapter 1005, Warriors Experiencing Dread
by SilavinTranslator: Silavin
Qing Yan and his team had departed the Tribe over half a month ago and were travelling increasingly distant from home.
Fortunately, their Warriors were all fine. Not a single combat casualty.
It seemed this heavy rain hardly affected them. Their sole objective now was to find the ores the Shaman wanted.
Consequently, each Warrior was on high alert, determined to avoid any incidents.
Naturally, this success owed entirely to Qing Yan’s expertise and the Shaman Bone Tablets Su Bai had provided.
Since dividing into multiple search parties, their ore finding efficiency had improved considerably.
Though they had yet to discover any useful ore deposits, they were able to systematically eliminate numerous search zones.
Despite venturing increasingly far away from the Tribe, their spirits had actually risen.
Su Bai had instructed them to never surrender prematurely.
Maintaining hope would ensure their eventual success. Embracing despair would mean everything they were doing would be wasted.
Qing Yan led Qing Mu and Chi Tu deeper into the forest depths, their vigilance instantly maximised.
Moving deeper into the forest meant more danger, with increasingly higher chances to encounter a Ferocious Beast. Moreover, Ferocious Beast grades would also rise. Should they encounter one of a higher-grade, even these Warriors might prove too weak.
They needed to be constantly alert. They needed immediate withdrawal upon detecting any threats. This was how they ensured their safety.
“You must be extremely cautious. The deeper we go, the more careful we must be.” Qing Yan repeatedly glanced backwards.
He genuinely feared a Ferocious Beast might suddenly ambush them. In such circumstances, self-preservation would be challenging enough, let alone protecting the others.
“Understood. We’ll maintain maximum caution.” Qing Mu and his companion nodded.
Though their words conveyed confidence, internally, they were all extremely anxious. This was the deepest they had ventured into the forest.
The primitive forest grew progressively more dangerous the deeper they went. Not only did Ferocious Beasts become increasingly more savage, but even plant life posed numerous unknown threats.
Numerous plant species could actually move and could devour those oblivious to them.
The primitive forest essentially functioned as a living trap. Carelessness meant death.
“Dense forest like this won’t contain any good ore deposits. We need to locate cliff faces or areas with little to no vegetation.” Qing Yan reiterated Su Bai’s instructions. This was their methodology for locating ores.
“Team Leader, there! Isn’t that area more open? I can actually see stones from here.” Chi Tu excitedly indicated to his left, where tree coverage indeed appeared considerably sparser.
Qing Yan did not doubt him. Unwilling to delay, he immediately led his Warriors in that direction.
Within minutes, they reached the sparsely wooded area, discovering an extensive slope. This slope appeared virtually endless, littered with stone formations throughout.
While technically still within the forest, this area more closely resembled a chaotic stone field. There were merely some scattered trees here and there.
“This might actually be it. Let’s search for the ores the Shaman needs,” Qing Yan said excitedly.
He immediately retrieved ore samples from his satchel. These were the specimens Su Bai had provided before they left the Tribe.
These included iron ore, copper ore, and other useful mineral samples, enabling direct comparison during their search.
Verbal descriptions would be hard to understand. Without these samples on the field, it would truly be hard to know what they were searching for.
Providing identical ore specimens for direct comparison made locating the ores much easier.
Qing Mu and Chi Tu likewise retrieved their ore samples and began comparing, completely disregarding the continuous rainfall.
The rain did not matter to them in the least. Only the stone deposits before them mattered.
Half an hour later, they had identified numerous matching specimens.
Everyone’s faces radiated excited smiles, resembling prospectors who had struck gold. They grew happier and more excited with each discovery.
“Team Leader, we’ve actually located the ores the Shaman needs! There’s so much here we can’t even search through them all.” Qing Mu grinned so widely his eyes nearly closed.
“With this many ores, surely it’s enough, right? The Shaman will definitely praise us,” Chi Tu also smiled foolishly.
Neither minded the mud covering their faces and bodies. The ore specimens they cradled seemed precious as treasures.
“Everything the Shaman wants can be found here. This is great! Let’s return and inform the others, then we can prepare for the journey home.” Qing Yan likewise clutched numerous ore specimens, while this thirty-something man was grinning like a child.
“Great!” Chi Tu responded enthusiastically.
“Finally, our long expedition is a success!” Qing Mu nodded.
The three reluctantly released most of their ore specimens, each retaining only a few samples before leaving.
They still needed to return to the Tribe and additionally required readiness against any Ferocious Beast they might come across. Carrying too much ore was impractical.
However, after only a brief sprint, Qing Yan detected something unusual.
Despite the continuous rainfall blurring vision, and the cover they had with the trees and stones, he could sense danger approaching.
Qing Mu and Chi Tu were not novices either. They could sense Qing Yan’s change in demeanour and the surrounding environment.
“Be careful. Something dangerous is approaching.” Qing Yan’s expression immediately grew severe.
His instincts warned him that danger was steadily closing in.
*Roar roar roar…*
A deep, resonant roar erupted. Through layers of rain, the Warriors cause a glimpse of twin eyes glowing red.
A partially visible shadow emerged. It was enormous, roughly the size of a small lorry.
The Ferocious Beast’s roar contrasted starkly with the rain’s pitter patter. The roar possessed tremendous sonic force.
Visibly, the falling rain itself appeared to tremble, while surrounding trees shuddered uncontrollably.
This was not because rain or leaves experienced fear. Rather, the roar’s sheer volume generated sound waves powerful enough to physically vibrate the rain and foliage.
Qing Mu and Chi Tu felt every pore from head to toe seemingly burst open, gooseflesh erupting uncontrollably across their bodies.
When even Warriors experienced such dread, one could imagine the nature of the Ferocious Beast within the rain.
