Evening could not have come fast enough. The trio was not left to themselves the entire time. They did not even have their own private quarters. In fact, they were deliberately left on the ship, under the watchful eye of everyone on board.

This treatment was something the Young Mistress of the Hong Clan should never have to go through. Yet, the very person treating them like this was her own Uncle. Furthermore, it was essentially her Uncle’s ship now. Who could they possibly complain to?

Even if they wanted to leave, they would find it hard to. Under those watchful eyes, it would be hard to escape. Furthermore, even as the ship lifted off, flying into the distant sky, they were not alone.

Unbelievably, the city had dedicated no small number of fast moving ships to ‘escort’ this ship. These ships were in all likelihood made to ensure the other party stuck to their deal. So, the major powerhouses of the city were most likely not on board.

Likewise, if Hong Jun escaped, their bow would likely all point towards him at once. Even if they could not beat him, they could just as easily hinder him enough for reinforcements to arrive, and with Hong Huo Liang here, it would be a tough ask for him to escape.

So, the trio were basically trapped. They could not realistically escape, at least not until the time was ripe, and those other ships retreated back.

In fact, to wait for time to pass, they could only sit down and meditate on the ground, out in the open.

Naturally, there were many things Hong Jun wanted to ask Yang Ji. However, under so many watchful gazes, he was wary enough to hold off. Even if he created a temporary barrier to isolate them from the others, it would only increase their suspicion, and who knew what spying methods they possess? Even Hong Jun was not confident his communication Rune was completely perfect against an opponent who was stronger than him.

So, overall, the trio had quietly waited till they were called upon.

And, upon being called upon, Yang Ji showed not the slightest trace of anger nor worry. He moved with relatively light steps, unlike Hong Jun and Xing Ting.

They moved through the ship, guided by the same man from earlier. Compared to the outside of the ship, which looked plain and boring, the inside was quite well furnished. Yang Ji could not tell if these plants or paintings were originally there, but it was comparable to the walkways of the Revitalisation Inn.

Entering door after door, they finally stepped into the main hall of the ship. It was a large space, seemingly only reserved for the host to use. Furthermore, since this was his exclusive space, it bore more opulence than any other site in the ship.

Even Yang Ji could tell that the ornaments, even the table and chairs, within this room were all prized possessions. He just did not understand why someone would so lavishly leave their items around. If it were him or Yang Xu, they normally keep anything important in the Space Rings. That was why their room was so bare.

It was certainly not because of Su Yan’s influence, nor that they broke stuff when they were playing around with Space Principles. Certainly not.

As Yang Ji was looking around, Hong Huo Liang, seeming to show grace, spoke up as though introducing what he was looking at. “My Dear Niece, if you like this piece of jade, I’ll happily gift it to you. It is a Thousand Life Spirit Jade, an item that one does not come by so easily.”

“I’m grateful for the offer but I would have to decline, Uncle. It is neither my birthday nor a special occasion. I do not wish the Clan to see me as too indulgent, knowing my status in it.” Yang Ji said with Hong Lan Tian’s voice once more. He even added, “Uncle, you might not recall since it has been a small item to you, but I’ve already received your gift those many years ago.”

Hong Huo Liang seemed humoured by the mentioned and asked, “My dear Niece, since it was a small item, and something from so long ago, might I ask you to refresh my memory for me?”

Yang Ji gave a small nod and said, “It was a fish, seemingly made of jade. I recall you mentioning there were two pieces, and that the other piece is in your safe keepings.”

Hong Huo Liang gave a small nod in response, meanwhile, Hong Jun and Xing Ting were doing their best to control their emotions.

[How did this kid learn of that!?]

They screamed in their hearts but such words simply could not be voiced out.

Meanwhile, Hong Huo Liang had basically let go of his doubts at this point. Though the girl in front of him acted differently, with greater confidence and a cool that he had never seen before, the memories she has still remained the same. He finally kindly gestured her to sit, and the trio took their places around the round table.

Hong Huo Liang clapped his hand, and the doors behind the trio suddenly burst open. Servants brought in dish after dish. There was simply no end to them.

Eventually, once the flow stopped, around 72 dishes had been laid on the table. A truly lavish meal for no good reason. After all, no one present here truly needed to eat in the first place.

Still, the joys of eating were something no small number of people, even after cultivating, would never be able to forgo. Hong Huo Liang had apparently been one of them, just that his thin frame suggested otherwise.

The man raised his hand and an immaculate jug was raised without him touching it, and he poured for everyone present, one by one.

Yang Ji, seeing all of this, could not help but wonder, and even said it out loud, “Uncle, is this something akin to my last meal?”

Hong Jun and Xing Ting would have fallen off the chair at how Yang Ji had been bold enough to ask this question if not for their years of experience. After all, which mad man would dare ask their killer if they were going to die now?

Hong Huo Liang was also surprised by this question. He was so taken aback that his chopstick froze for a moment. However, he quickly regained his composure and smiled, “Why ask something so morbid while in the midst of a wonderful meal? How would I know if this will be your last meal, or the next one will be? I have no control over your life and death.”

“Then, why do you chase after me, Uncle? Why come all the way out here just to follow me? Surely it is not just because you miss me, right?” Yang Ji questioned, still calm, as though this was all within his expectation.

“You sure are fond of confusing the situation. I’ve been stationed here by the Clan. You just so happen to be around when I got stationed here.”  Hong Huo Liang shrugged and answered as easily as water flows down a mountain.

“And why would the Clan send you here? No. Rather, why would you choose to appear here at this time?” Yang Ji questioned and daringly drank the tea Hong Huo Liang had poured.

Hong Jun, upon seeing this, quickly reached out his hand to stop Yang Ji. However, Yang Ji just gulped down the whole drink in one go.

Hong Huo Liang saw this and had one of his eyebrows raised. He questioned, “My dear Niece, I thought you would be wary of me, with all those accusations you’ve been throwing my way.”

“Uncle, I die from a meal with you, you definitely will not be able to come out of this unscathed. Despite everything, I’m still the Young Mistress of the Hong Clan. That title still counts for something.” Yang Ji said, following a script aimed to incite Hong Huo Liang.

However, for some reason, Hong Huo Liang still remained calm throughout. He just casually responded with a chuckle and started eating in silence.

It was deafening. Without those two talking, no one else basically spoke. Xing Ting and Hong Jun had no topic to raise. In fact, Xing Ting felt extremely awkward over the whole back and forth between the two, to the point she wondered how they were eating so readily right now. Hong Jun on the other hand was calculating in his mind on how to escape this ship.

As such, the meal just continued, with Yang Ji feasting on a surprisingly large amount of food.
