In the arena, after destroying Lu Ye’s spell, Lan Zi Yi slightly hunched her back, looking like a cheetah that was ready to pounce on its prey. Her powerful aura was surging. It seemed that she was even more formidable than Feng Rulie, whom Lu Ye had dealt with previously.

Lu Ye’s eyes brightened at that. He had come across many Ninth-Order Cloud River Realm Masters and killed some of them. He had always believed that someone like Xia Liang was the representative of the most powerful Cloud River Realm Masters.

However, in this round of the Fight for Supremacy, he came to the realisation that he knew too little about this world. Although Xia Liang was powerful, there were people who were stronger. Feng Rulie and Lan Zi Yi were such examples.

As a Combat Cultivator, Lu Ye understood Lan Zi Yi’s current state only too well. Therefore, almost instinctively, he lifted his hand and cast a fist-sized fireball at the woman.

A fireball was the simplest Fire Attribute spell. It was also the first spell that the Fire Attribute Spell Cultivators learned.

The fist-sized fireball could move incredibly fast. It already reached Lan Zi Yi one second after it appeared.

This was undoubtedly beyond Lan Zi Yi. Her aura was about to reach its peak. She either had to dodge the spell or destroy it. Either way, it would affect the aggregation of her aura.

She wouldn’t dare ignore the fireball, for despite the spell being simple, it contained a horrifying power. As a Saber Light flickered, the fireball exploded into sparks.

Lan Zi Yi failed to make her aura reach its peak, but she had no other choice. She dexterously charged forward and carried a murderous intent with her.

But when she lifted her head, she was astonished, for she could see countless mini fireballs charging towards her like a storm. It was as if a rain of fireballs was descending upon her.

Behind the fireballs was the calm and collected Spell Cultivator, who was wearing a face mask. As he lifted his hand, even more fireballs were born and cast.

The fireballs flew across the arena. Lan Zi Yi danced and twisted and turned, but she couldn’t break through the defence line formed with the spells. She couldn’t help but be shocked by how ridiculously powerful the Spell Cultivator was.

Although she had heard about the Spell Cultivator, she had never taken him seriously. This time, she was determined to retaliate against Lu Ye. She was someone who would never forget about past grudges, after all.

She wasn’t a match for Lu Ye during the competition for the Roll of Supremacy, and in Myriad Beast Domain, the man even wanted to kill her.

Since she was weaker at that time, she could only run away and lie low. Now that she was powerful enough, she certainly had to get her revenge.

Much to her surprise, before she got to contend with Lu Ye, she came across this menacing Spell Cultivator. Also, she felt that something was off about the Spell Cultivator before her eyes.

The man was obviously well-versed in the Way of Spells, but he was only casting these fireballs to deal with her. It was as if he was only trying to irritate her. Much to her chagrin, there was nothing she could do about it.

After struggling for a while, she still couldn’t get close to the man as she was only hopping around in the same place. It had to be said that a female cultivator could move more elegantly than a male one.

When Feng Rulie was dodging the spells, he wasn’t as graceful. In comparison, Feng Rulie was like a wild boar that charged around while Lan Zi Yi was like a fairy that danced.

“Can you only use mini fireballs?” Over 30 breaths of time later, Lan Zi Yi couldn’t take it anymore. Although she was usually sedate, and nothing in the world concerned her, she was annoyed at this point.

She was like a marionette that was controlled by strings. The Spell Cultivator could make her go in whichever direction he wanted. Although she already realised she wasn’t a match for him, she was unwilling to admit defeat just like this.

Lu Ye responded to her with a fireball the size of a washbasin. It was as if he was trying to say he didn’t only know how to cast mini fireballs, but he could also form a big one.

“Don’t you dare cross the line, Lu Yi Ye!” Lan Zi Yi was so furious that she felt a pain in her chest.

Lu Ye was astonished. “How do you even recognise me when I’m wearing a mask?”

That was puzzling. He had dealt with many opponents before, but none had recognised him. Everyone knew that Lu Yi Ye of the Crimson Blood Sect was a Combat Cultivator who used a saber. How was it possible that he could cast so many abstruse spells?

Much to his surprise, Lan Zi Yi had exposed his identity. Regardless, he and the woman were not familiar with one another. He had contended with her during the competition for Roll of Supremacy, and they had spent some time together in Myriad Beast Domain, but it was quite a while ago.

He was certain that the woman didn’t recognise him in the beginning. Perhaps she had discovered something during the battle.

That was indeed the case. Lan Zi Yi didn’t immediately recognise him. However, although Lu Ye was wearing a face mask to conceal his face, he couldn’t do anything to change his figure.

An Eighth-Order Master with Fire Attribute Spiritual Power who was ridiculously powerful. All the signs led to a judgement that she had no choice but to acknowledge. The Spell Cultivator with a face mask on was Lu Yi Ye!

She didn’t believe that, out of nowhere, there was a Cloud River Realm Master who shared the same Attribute as Lu Ye and that she wasn’t a match for him.

Furthermore, she had always wanted to defeat Lu Ye, so she could remember his aura vividly. It had been quite a while since they last met, and she didn’t recognise him at first. However, she certainly realised something as the man kept messing with her.

“It’s really you!” she said through clenched teeth. For some reason, she was relieved by that revelation. Of all the Cloud River Realm Masters, only Lu Ye was stronger than her. The Spell Cultivator with a face mask was merely a fabricated story. She wasn’t so weak as to be defeated by two people, after all.

“How dare you fool me!” Lu Ye’s gaze darkened as his murderous intent surged. He had always wanted to kill the woman. Unfortunately, he missed the chance in Myriad Beast Domain, and he hadn’t had news of her since then. He didn’t expect to come across her in the arena, and it could very well be his chance. He wasn’t just trying to have some fun by messing with her. Instead, he was getting prepared to kill her.

“Do you want to kill me?” Lan Zi Yi stood in the same spot and looked at him with a tilted head. She held one saber in front of her and the other behind her back. Although she was talking to Lu Ye, she never put her guard down.

Lu Ye felt that the woman was ridiculously alert.

“I don’t think there’s a blood feud between us.” The doubt on Lan Zi Yi’s alluring face seemed genuine.

“That’s laughable. Although there isn’t a blood feud between those of Thousand Demon Ridge and me, they’ve still been hunting me down and trying to kill me. Since we’re from opposing sides, destroying each other is inevitable.”

    “Who told you that?”

Did Lu Ye even need anyone to tell him that? In the cultivation world of Jiu Zhou, once a person started cultivating, he would definitely be dragged into the fight between the two sides. Even the independent cultivators couldn’t steer clear of it.

“What do you mean?” Lu Ye frowned.

Lan Zi Yi shook her head. “Most people are foolish. Of the people in the same generation, you’re the only one that’s worth my attention. I hope you’ll see the truth one day.”

“What kind of truth do you want me to see?”

“It’s not the right time yet. You’ll see it in the future… Don’t come near me. If you dare come over, I’ll admit defeat and expose your identity to everyone.” Lan Zi Yi was anxious as Lu Ye took a step forward. Lu Ye was a Combat Cultivator who used a saber, but he could still master the Way of Spells. If he managed to come close with his saber, Lan Zi Yi didn’t have the confidence to fend him off.

This battle made her realise how powerful Lu Ye truly was. Although she had no idea why the man had disguised himself as a Spell Cultivator, she reckoned that he was up to no good. She felt that the man wouldn’t want to see his secret exposed.

She was smug deep within. Although she couldn’t defeat him, she knew a secret that could be used against him. At the very least, she had gained something out of this battle. While she was in her thoughts, she saw Lu Ye charging towards her as the gap between them rapidly shortened. A horrifying aura descended upon her like a falling mountain.

“No way!” Lan Zi Yi’s expression changed drastically, and she admitted defeat without hesitation. The last thing she saw was Lu Ye jabbing a spear towards the spot where she disappeared. The power of the attack astonished her.

She thought she knew a secret that could be used against Lu Ye, but in actuality, it didn’t bother him at all. He didn’t use a saber because his Inviolable Saber was being upgraded. The reason he was wearing a face mask was that he wanted to fight the brightest cultivators in Jiu Zhou without scaring the other party off, and he wanted to broaden his horizon. Naturally, it was pointless for Lan Zi Yi to threaten him with this.

Since the opponent was gone, Lu Ye left the space as well. He had completed all 14 matches, and there were still five days away before the second round ended. He just had to wait for the results. As expected, he didn’t get many battle points from the battles.

He left the Summit of Fortitude and returned to the Summit of Bamboos, where he would cultivate and wait patiently. The thing he was most passionate about now was to look into the Source of Soaring Dragon Boundary and go through the lives of the powerful cultivators of different generations who had left behind important marks.

The rewards were immense. These powerful cultivators had their own fortes, and they were once the most powerful cultivators in Soaring Dragon Boundary. Nevertheless, the more insights he gained, the more he was determined to be a Combat Cultivator who used a saber. He would only have a chance to surpass those Seniors this way.

However, he was frustrated at the fact that he hadn’t come across a cultivator who used a saber after going through the lives of seven to eight people. He had even been attached to a Sword Cultivator. This led to the lack of progress in his Way of Blades.

Three days went by just like this. When Lu Ye retracted his soul from the Source of Soaring Dragon Boundary, he felt the vibration coming from his Battlefield Imprint.

The third round of the Fight for Supremacy hadn’t started yet, so it was apparent that someone had sent him a message. He took a look while replenishing his energy. Indeed, he had received a message.

Master Yu had successfully upgraded his Inviolable Saber. She said she would contact him in half a month, but it had only taken her ten days. She had completed the task way before the deadline.

That said, they had already signed the Sacred Pact. Even though she was powerful, she wouldn’t dare breach the agreement. Otherwise, the Heavens would punish her.

Well, clearly her skills aren’t that impressive despite her cultivation if she can’t make any progress in closing the distance against his spell casting
