Both Lu Ye and Ying Wuji were adept at the Way of Wards and concealing their presence. Although the cultivators from the Hidden Realm were fairly powerful, they were no match for the duo.

After the duo snuck into the Ward and boarded the Spirit Boat, these people were still unaware of it as they continued going about their business.

Considering that Ying Wuji couldn’t detect his presence, Lu Ye could only release a bit of his aura so that the latter could follow him closely.

The Spirit Boat had three floors. The top floor was where the two representatives lived. The man and the woman had left the room on the top floor earlier. The middle floor and the lowest floor were where the other cultivators lived.

All three floors were not suitable places for hiding. Therefore, upon boarding the Spirit Boat, Lu Ye led Ying Wuji to head to the bottom.

He initially wanted to look for a place to hide at the bottom, but much to his surprise, there were many people there.

Their auras showed that they were not powerful. They were all in the Spirit Creek Realm. There were also many commoners.

After giving it some thought, Lu Ye realised what was going on.

These people were the candidates from different bases that had been invited to the Hidden Realm.

Yuan Xiang had said that some of the people from their base had been invited to the Hidden Realm before. It seemed that Lu Ye and Ying Wuji were not so lucky. If not for the attack from those of the Pure Land, they would’ve stayed in the base, and they might’ve come across cultivators from the Hidden Realm who were recruiting suitable candidates.

Certainly, they were not certain about when those from the Hidden Realm would arrive. Perhaps they would have to wait for a long time.

After some deliberation, Lu Ye kept his Inviolable Saber and dispelled his concealment.

Upon seeing that, Ying Wuji did the same. They exchanged glances and curbed their auras before opening the door to enter the place.

The bottom of the ship was an open area. There were already many people inside. They had been selected from their respective bases. Both commoners and cultivators appeared excited.

In this apocalyptic area, all the living Humans dreamed of entering one of the Hidden Realms. That was because becoming part of a Hidden Realm meant that they wouldn’t have to worry about their safety again.

There would also be endless food and inexhaustible cultivation resources for them. By joining a Hidden Realm, they could get rid of their awful lives and start living luxuriously.

Yuan Xiang was right to say that the Hidden Realms were like paradises to the rest of the Humans.

The moment the door was opened, the noise came to an abrupt halt as they turned to look at the duo.

Lu Ye and Ying Wuji were unperturbed as they entered the place. While everyone was puzzled, they sat down in the corner, looking out of place with the environment.

A moment later, these people started chattering again. They initially thought the two of them were cultivators from the Hidden Realm, so they didn’t dare be noisy. When they came to their senses and wrongly believed that the duo had also been invited to the Hidden Realm, they stopped worrying.

“There are a lot of people.” Ying Wuji stealthily scanned his surroundings. “Most of them are young people.”

    There were also many kids.

It seemed that those from the Hidden Realm didn’t select candidates based on their cultivation and aptitude. They mainly looked at their age. The younger a person was, the more likely he would be selected.

The two of them seemed old among these people.

It was understandable, though. A younger person could be easily moulded and guided. For this reason, those from the Hidden Realm chose the candidates based on their age.

Lu Ye closed his eyes while seated. Although he looked like he was getting some rest, he was listening to the conversations around him to collect some information.

However, these young people, who came from different places, had nothing useful to say. They mostly envisioned their wonderful and unfettered lives in the Hidden Realm using their imagination.

There were also some kids who looked dejected as they missed their parents.

Although they were kids, they didn’t cry or throw a tantrum. They knew that when they were out there, no one would dote on them like their parents. From now on, their success or failure depended on themselves. They certainly hoped for a bright future. Determination was written all over their young faces.

Ying Wuji got to his feet and left. A moment later, he returned and furtively passed Lu Ye some tattered clothes. “Get changed.”

There were around 300 people in this place, but the two of them looked out of place. Besides their age, their clothes were different as well.

Their clothes couldn’t be considered fine. After all, they were respectively a Combat Cultivator and a Ghost Cultivator who focused on increasing their powers. As such, they were fine with any clothes.

However, even though their clothes were simple, they still looked different from the people around them.

Ying Wuji had noticed that, so he found people whose figures were similar to those of him and Lu Ye and got two sets of clothes.

Having learned his lesson in Zui Shan’s base, he didn’t dare fish out fine stuff this time. He had only used two pieces of meat jerky.

Lu Ye took the ragged clothes and put them on before waiting in silence along with Ying Wuji.

An hour later, the door was opened again. This time, five skinny figures entered the place. The oldest person was around 14 years old while the youngest person was about six years old.

It seemed that they were the people that the two representatives had chosen from a nearby base.

A while later, the Spirit Boat shook slightly, and these people abruptly stopped talking. Then, they cheered as the kids streamed towards the windows.

The vibration continued as the boat rose into the air and headed to their next destination.

As the kids looked at the reversing view and the rolling clouds, they were thrilled.

About an hour later, the door was opened again. Two figures came into their sight. In silence, they tossed several things into the room and turned around to leave.

Lu Ye could see that those were pieces of meat. Judging from the colour and the faint smell of blood, the meat hadn’t been cooked. It was raw.

Despite that, the moment the two people left, the kids became fervent.

They pounced on the pieces of raw meat. Those who got a piece quickly munched on it, but after they took a bite, other people would punch them and snatch their meat away.

The clamorous place descended into chaos. These kids, who were from different bases, seemed to have turned into beasts as they were savage.

Those who were cultivators were naturally at an advantage, and the commoners would suffer. Screams and groans were continuously heard.

“They…” Ying Wuji furrowed his brows. He didn’t expect that these pieces of raw meat could make the kids fight each other.

A young girl collapsed to the ground. Before she could get up, other people trampled on her.

Just as Ying Wuji was about to make a move, the person beside him charged forward and pulled the young girl from the crowd.

The young girl was apparently frightened as her face was livid. Although she had been saved, she trembled uncontrollably. She turned to look at Lu Ye, who had saved her life, but she had forgotten to thank him.

The pieces of meat were soon devoured. After the scuffle, many of them were bruised, and some of their faces were stained with blood.

Those who got the meat were content while those who didn’t were dejected.

That was because only one meal was provided per day. If they couldn’t get the food, it meant they would starve for the entire day.

“Lu Yi Ye,” Ying Wuji said grimly. “What’s going on with this Hidden Realm?”

After hearing Yuan Xiang’s tale, he thought that the Hidden Realms of the Peerless Continent were paradises. People wouldn’t have to worry about food, clothes and cultivation resources again once they became part of the Hidden Realms.

He also thought that the cultivators from this particular Hidden Realm were taking these people back to nurture them so that the inheritances would be continued.

Nevertheless, this incident made Ying Wuji realise something was off.

Those from the Hidden Realm had no regard for these people from the bases. They gave them meat in a way as if they tossed food at animals.

Considering their behaviour, it would be naive to think that they would nurture these young people.

Although it was meant to be a question, Ying Wuji already had a premonition.

    “Thanks, Big Brother.”

It wasn’t until this moment that the young girl, whom Lu Ye had saved, came to her senses and thanked the man. Although she came from a poor background, she had been taught well.

Lu Ye shook his head and passed her a piece of meat jerky. “Eat this.”

The young girl’s eyes brightened in an instant. She glanced at Lu Ye, and upon making sure that the food was for her, she hurriedly took it and munched on it.

After several bites, she stopped eating and placed the rest in her clothes. It was apparent that she wanted to save it for the next time. She would starve if she couldn’t snatch the food from the others.

Ying Wuji looked away while feeling sorry for her. He had wanted to tell the young girl to finish eating the meat jerky, but he couldn’t bring himself to do that.

He and Lu Ye could protect the young girl for now but not forever.

“Can I stay here and sleep for a while?” Although the young girl was innocent, she knew the two of them could protect her.

She knew nothing about cultivation, but Lu Ye and Ying Wuji were the oldest among these people, and as far as she was concerned, they must be the most powerful as well.

“Sure.” Ying Wuji had agreed to it before Lu Ye could speak.

The young girl put on a sweet smile and found a spot near Lu Ye. Then, she lay down and curled up. She soon dozed off as her breathing was stable.

The Spirit Boat would repeatedly stop for a while before setting off again. More and more cultivators were selected from the bases.

Several days later, no more new people appeared.

Lu Ye and Ying Wuji were expectant. They came to the realisation that the trip had come to an end. In other words, the cultivators were about to return to their Hidden Realm.
