Chapter 804, No Danger!

“Boss, I believe it’s better not to approach,” a worker suddenly interjected.
“I also think we should stay away. It looks really sinister.” Another worker immediately added.
“Didn’t the Shaman say we mustn’t casually touch unfamiliar things?” Another worker commented.
…
The workers continued speaking one after another. None dared approach rashly, all hiding behind the Warriors.
“It’s fine. This thing has no scent whatsoever. As long as we don’t touch it with our hands, there’ll be no problem,” Xi Guo raised his hand.
He felt the crowd was excessively noisy, everyone chattering simultaneously until his ears nearly exploded.
“Sir, shouldn’t we return first to report to the Shaman?” A Warrior Trainee asked.
“Wait until we’ve examined what this is first. The Shaman has numerous matters that require his attention each day. Don’t disturb the Shaman over such trivial matters,” Xi Guo responded.
“Sir, or perhaps we should report to the Chieftain? Have the Chieftain come examine it. He might recognise what this is,” another Warrior Trainee suggested.
“We’ll examine it first. If we truly can’t identify it, we’ll collect some to take back and ask,” Xi Guo waved dismissively.
His curiosity about this substance was simply too intense. Rather than rushing back to the Tribe to enquire before returning, he preferred examining it himself first to determine exactly what it might be.
Xi Guo retrieved a relatively thick branch from the ground, slowly extending it towards that pool of dark-coloured liquid that had flowed out.
Honestly, he remained somewhat apprehensive, fearing this pool of dark-coloured liquid might be poisonous, or that something might occur in the next moment.
“Sir, be careful. Don’t approach too closely,” a Warrior Trainee cautioned.
These Warrior Trainees, having only recently awakened from being ordinary people, had witnessed relatively few such phenomena.
Suddenly encountering this pool of dark-coloured liquid, their hearts inevitably panicked a little.
Nevertheless, being Warrior Trainees, despite the considerable fear within them, they refrained from displaying it openly on their faces.
*Gulp gulp…* From some indeterminate point, the sound of swallowing continuously emerged from the crowd.
Moreover, everyone’s chattering discussion instantly diminished, immediately elevating the tense atmosphere.
“I understand,” Xi Guo said, uncertain why everyone had suddenly grown so tense, which in turn made him somewhat nervous.
The hand gripping the branch tightened further as he slowly probed towards that pool of dark-coloured liquid.
*Gulp!* The branch required considerable force to penetrate the dark-coloured liquid. After some time, the branch revealed no changes whatsoever.
Xi Guo had originally worried the branch might be corroded. He’d also failed to anticipate that this dark-coloured liquid possessed some resilience, actually requiring some effort to penetrate.
“Sir, why does this dark-coloured liquid look rather strange?” a Warrior Trainee questioned doubtfully.
They’d also assumed this branch would be corroded, never imagining the current situation would unfold.
“I don’t know either. It appears this liquid is not that dangerous,” Xi Guo frowned slightly.
He’ ha repeatedly tested with several more sticks, and furthermore, had thrown several stones into it.
These sticks and stones showed no changes whatsoever. Some floated on the surface, though the sole difference was that this liquid appeared somewhat resilient.
The liquid seemed not quite like a real liquid. It was an indescribable sensation.
“Sir, we should collect some of this substance to show the Chieftain and the Shaman,” a Warrior Trainee suggested.
“Indeed. Fetch an Animal Hide Bag and collect some to take back,” Xi Guo nodded.
A Warrior Trainee extracted a small Animal Hide Bag from his personal bag, using a stick to transfer some dark-coloured liquid into the bag.
When that Warrior Trainee departed, all the Workers exchanged glances, momentarily uncertain what to do, and began discussing amongst themselves.
“What do you think we should do now? No one knows what’s wrong with this tree.”
“Can we bypass this tree? But then this road won’t be straight.”
“Should we wait here? Wait until the Shaman has examined that substance before continuing work?”
“But that would significantly delay our schedule. Weren’t we supposed to complete this quickly?”
“…”
The workers chattered on, everyone extraordinarily curious about this dark-coloured liquid.
“Fell this tree directly. Continue working. Don’t waste time,” Xi Guo stated decisively.
Having surveyed the surrounding area, he’d discovered quite a few such trees nearby. This tree type was truly prominent and happened to grow in this location.
However, this particular tree lay on the path for the cement road. Felling this large tree would thus be no problem. After all, even if this large tree possessed some utility, numerous similar trees remained nearby, rendering the loss of one negligible.
“Yes,” the workers nodded and resumed work.
*Step step step…*
*Chop chop chop…*
A succession of stone-smashing sounds and tree-felling sounds continuously arose. The workers recommenced their vigorous labour.
Observing everyone’s current mood, it appeared as though the recent incident had never occurred.
Xi Guo differed from them though; his mind continuously dwelled on that dark-coloured liquid. He wondered whether this discovery might be useful for the Tribe’s development, or whether this liquid possessed some properties that could harm them, or the project?
*Step step step…*
*Chop chop chop…*
As the succession of felling sounds continuously arose, the initial Warrior Trainee rapidly returned to the Tribe. He immediately presented that bag of dark-coloured liquid to Yan Jiao, his face covered in sweat.
“What is this?” Yan Jiao hadn’t yet examined the bag’s contents.
“Chieftain, we discovered this while constructing the road. A large tree was blocking the route.” The Warrior Trainee explained.
“Dark-coloured liquid? What is this?” Yan Jiao frowned as he examined the contents.
“We don’t know what this substance is. But after testing, we discovered it is not toxic, nor is it corrosive. So, we’ve thought of bringing it back for you and the Shaman to check.” the Warrior Trainee explained.
Yan Jiao nodded thoughtfully, continuing to survey this dark-coloured liquid with his red eyes lowered.
“Chieftain, what should we do?” the Warrior Trainee asked nervously.
“Wait a moment,” Yan Jiao raised his hand.
