The blood-red evening glow faded slowly. Bodies lay scattered throughout the forest, and the smell of gunpowder had spread across every corner of it.

Yan Hua climbed down from the Peak Eagle’s back. She frowned as she swept her gaze around her. The air was thick with the heavy stench of blood.

She covered her mouth and nose instinctively, then led the Warriors in searching the surrounding area, looking to see whether any had survived.

“Leave no one alive. Kill them all.” Cang Shi also led his Warriors out from the forest.

They had been positioned some distance from the bodies, so the explosion had not reached them. At most, they had simply been enveloped in billowing smoke on all sides.

“Uncle Cang Shi, are you all alright?” Yan Hua walked over and asked.

Yan Hua felt somewhat nauseous just then. It was mostly because she had never witnessed a battle on such a scale before, and on top of that the entire area was carpeted with bodies.

The heavy stench of blood was sharp and suffocating, the sort that made one want to retch the moment it reached one’s nose. The smell of gunpowder was also strong, and when the two mixed together the result was deeply unpleasant.

“We’re fine, all in good shape. If it weren’t for you and Ah’Hua coming to support us, we might not have won this quickly.” Cang Shi laughed openly.

He genuinely felt that the victory had come too easily. He never would have dared imagine it beforehand. He had thought at the very least they would have to fight tooth and nail for it.

Even with all the capable and powerful weapons they had gathered beforehand, Cang Shi had not dared hope they would win this smoothly.

He could only offer his deep, sincere admiration inwardly for Su Bai. With the Shaman leading the way, everything had gone exceptionally well.

“It’s mostly because Uncle Cang Shi made sound judgments. If you had not given the order in time for everyone to light the fuses, we might well have had to fight a much harder battle.” Yan Hua scanned the surroundings.

She saw bodies everywhere. Red blood pooled in every direction. The scene was genuinely unsettling to look at.

“There shouldn’t be any survivors. Even the most formidable Warrior has no choice but to admit defeat when faced with such explosives.” Cang Shi brushed the dust from his hands.

At that moment the Flame Dragon Tribe’s Warriors were moving through the area with their recurve bows, checking whether any still breathed. The moment they found someone still alive they sent an arrow to end it. For bodies that remained intact they would also deliver a final cut, guarding against anyone playing dead.

Only bodies that had been torn beyond recognition by the blast were left alone.

“Bring those ordinary people back to the Tribe.” Yan Hua looked towards the group not far away.

They were all ordinary people from the Dark Scorpion Tribe. Most were young men and women. Those of older age had already died along the road to the Flame Dragon Tribe, unable to keep up the pace when Ferocious Beasts came for them.

Only that thousand or so remained. They looked terrified. Most had curled in together, trembling.

Some had no idea whatsoever what had happened. The tremendous blasts had simply stunned them. Some had even been so frightened they had soiled themselves where they stood. A few of the more timid had fainted outright.

Although they had not been caught directly in the explosions, they had not been all that far away either. There had still been a trembling in the ground beneath them, and the enormous noise had been deeply distressing.

Then there had been the sight of a great crowd of Flame Dragon Tribe members appearing from all directions, some rushing out from the forest, others descending from the sky on the backs of Ferocious Beasts. That too just only further frightened them.

“They have no other choice now. But they must already be thoroughly disillusioned with the Dark Scorpion Tribe. That Tribe really did show no humanity at all.” What Cang Shi was referring to was, of course, the matter of them being used as meat shields.

No matter how loyal a person was to their Tribe, being used as a meat shield so others could flee was not something anyone could stomach easily.

Especially now, having narrowly escaped with their lives and found themselves facing an even more powerful Tribe, something had already shifted inside these people.

That was to say, so long as the Flame Dragon Tribe did not kill them, they would become deeply loyal to it.

“Couldn’t agree more. I’ll head back and report to the Shaman.” With that, Yan Hua swung herself up onto the Peak Eagle’s back.

“Go on. Leave things here to me. Get that good news back quickly.” Cang Shi waved at the sky.

    Flap flap flap…

Yan Hua rode the Peak Eagle towards the Tribe. The corners of her mouth stayed lifted the whole way. Her mood was exceptionally good.

A little over an hour later, Yan Hua descended to the square in front of the Yong’an Building.

Su Bai had already been waiting in the square. He had come downstairs the moment he heard the explosions from the forest.

Yan Jiao was also nearby, waiting anxiously. At the same time, many people within the Tribe had already learned of what had happened.

The same was true of the people from other Tribes. What puzzled them most was the tremendous sounds of explosions. They wondered: ‘Is there some kind of battle’? ‘How could something produce such violent noise?’ All of it left them completely at a loss.

“Good news, right? You look happy.” Su Bai asked with a slight smile.

He was not particularly anxious, because he could already foresee the outcome. Even if things had been a little rough along the way, the Flame Dragon Tribe was always going to come through it. This time the Tribe had committed every last explosive package they had. If they still somehow managed to lose with all of that, there was truly nothing more to be said.

Beyond the explosive packages, Su Bai still had measures held in reserve. So even if the explosive packages had not been enough to win, there were other ways to ensure the Flame Dragon Tribe would not be defeated.

“Shaman, our Tribe has won. The moment the explosions fell silent, victory was ours.” Yan Hua said it with tremendous excitement.

It was the first time she had ever seen a battle end so quickly. When her Father had spoken of battles before, they always seemed to drag on for many days at a time.

When two Tribes were closely matched in strength, it was not unheard of for fighting to continue for half a month.

A battle resolved in just over half an hour was something she had never encountered before. So, Yan Hua felt strangely unreal right now, even as she knew it had truly happened. Her heart was hammering with excitement and disbelief all at once.

“This is great, Shaman. The threat that Tribe posed to us is finally gone. Our Tribe can develop so much better from here.” Yan Jiao said it with equal excitement.

He had originally wanted to go to the front lines himself, but due to concerns for Su Bai’s safety, he remained in the Tribe.

Yan Jiao also intended to make sure word spread of how hard-fought this battle had been. That way other Tribes would hold the Flame Dragon Tribe in greater esteem.

It would also serve as groundwork for the eventual unification, forming the kingdom. Though it was clear enough that his purpose had already been achieved.

“Yes. From now on, no Tribe on this continent can threaten us. We can build a proper society with rule of law.” Su Bai laughed openly.

He had been waiting for this day for a long time. Nearly two years.

As for the people from other Tribes who were present, they were entirely stunned. It was like a drop of water falling into a pot of boiling oil.

The senior members of the Flame Dragon Tribe paid those reactions little attention though. Right now, they only wanted to celebrate.
