The Giant Shell Land Tortoise’s travelling pace was surprisingly quick, a striking contrast to its massive size. One would have expected such a large body to move slowly. But its speed was comparable to a Six Eyed Red Bird’s, though not quite as fast.

 

“Shaman, it moves rather quickly. Delivery times should be much shorter with it.” Yan Hua said with pleased surprise.

 

Yan Hua had not anticipated this at all. Her long, dark hair streamed loose in the wind.

 

“The remaining question is how much cargo it can carry at one go. Ideally, whatever is stored should be secured.” Sha Lan busied herself with tidying her wind-blown hair.

 

She kept running her hand along the Giant Shell Land Tortoise’s shell as they rode, testing its durability.

 

“We can try right now.” Su Bai put force into his right arm, and in an instant it was as though it had been coated in steel.

 

This was his Iron Arm Skill. The entire arm would become as hard as iron.

 

“Shaman, are you going to open up the Giant Shell Land Tortoise’s shell directly?” Sha Lan’s blue eyes went very wide.

 

“We have time on the road. We may as well test it here.” Su Bai smiled.

Su Bai smiled with satisfaction. “If we break away the upper layer and then fit a new cap over it, the stored cargo would be completely secure…”

 

The Giant Shell Land Tortoise’s shell was segmented like a tortoise’s, divided into sections, each with protrusions rising from the surface like small hills.

 

Su Bai had knocked across the shell earlier and noted the sound was not a fully solid one. There was a faint hollow quality to it.

 

Now that the section had been opened, what he saw was exactly what he had suspected. The small hill on top had crumbled away, and beneath it was a small storage cavity.

 

“Wow. To think it actually works. We could fill these with cargo and cover each one over. The goods would never get wet and could never fall out.” Sha Lan was so delighted her cat tail would not stop swishing.

 

She found the whole thing deeply astonishing. She had not imagined anything like this.

 

She had been quietly worried the blow would break through the shell and into the creature’s flesh.

 

If the shell were not hollow, a strike like that would have shattered it down to the flesh.

 

She could not bear having a freshly Tamed Ferocious Beast suffering injuries before it had ever carried a single load.

 

“This looks very promising. Look at how many separate compartments there are in the Giant Shell Land Tortoise’s shell. The storage capacity is amazing.” Su Bai was pleased.

 

The shell’s back was divided into more than a dozen segments. Each varied in size, some close to a metre across, others half a metre or a matter of centimetres. Without question, the total storage space was substantial.

 

This was nothing like a Six Eyed Red Bird, which could only carry goods in containers mounted to either side of its body.

 

One Six Eyed Red Bird could transport what amounted to a single compartment of the Giant Shell Land Tortoise’s back.

 

The comparison made clear just how much this creature could carry. And it explained Su Bai’s satisfaction.

 

“So this trip was not without reward after all.” Yan Hua laughed happily.

 

“If we could Tame several more, it would be much better.” Su Bai was, naturally, thinking the more the merrier.
