“Mistress…” The young woman with silver hair seemed elated as she ran towards the woman in green clothes in light steps.

“You’ve gotten out of your secluded cultivation, Ninth Sister.” The impassive black-clothed woman looked at the green-clothed woman with surprise, but she soon pulled herself together.

“Greetings, Ninth Crown Princess.” The other people in white robes saluted the green-clothed woman.

“Yes.” The green-clothed woman nodded and looked at the falling burning black feather. “I was the one who caused the incident to happen, but I’ve been avoiding the consequences for so many epochs. I’m supposed to take on the responsibility and deal with it now.”

“Have you really thought about it? You ran away during the ceremony and the High Priestess got humiliated in front of them. If not for the fact that she was wary of the power of our ancestral home, she wouldn’t have easily let us off. If you visit the High Priestess, she might take great joy in humiliating you.” Said the black-clothed woman.

“Don’t worry, Third Sister. I’ve made up my mind. I’m willing to bear all the consequences. Eldest Sister was sent to the other side because of me. For countless years, she’s been lonely with no one she can talk to. If I can’t even endure the High Priestess’ humiliation, how am I supposed to face the Eldest Sister, Mother, and the others in the future?” The green-clothed woman shook her head and spoke calmly.

Upon hearing that, the black-clothed woman and the others looked conflicted.

“You’re so mature now…” The old man was gratified upon hearing that.

Over the years, the High Priestess of the Ancient Shroud Civilisation had been sending powerful cultivators to look for the green-clothed woman because she had run away from the ceremony and the High Priestess felt humiliated by this.

Moreover, the incident had enraged those from the Land of Truth, which brought about terrifying consequences.

In the end, the Eldest Princess of the Epoch Cicadas Clan replaced the Ninth Crown Princess and was sent to that place as a sacrifice. Only then did those from the Land of Truth ceased their raging rampage.

However, the High Priestess never forgot that the humiliation she felt that day. Narrow-minded and vengeful, she had been sending powerful cultivators to hunt down the Ninth Crown Princess over the years.

If not for the fact that those from the Epoch Cicadas Clan had been concealing the whereabouts and aura of the Ninth Crown Princess, she would have been captured long ago.

Now, it seemed that the Ninth Crown Princess had grown up and had matured. She did not disappoint them, showing their protection of her over the years had been worthwhile.

“Third Sister, I don’t know what the outcome will be when I go to see the High Priestess. If I can’t return safely, please look after the True World I’ve created using the Immortal Dao Civilisation Flame. As the True Spirit of that True World, I didn’t manage to protect them when they faced a Great Purge, nor when enemies came to attack them. I don’t even know how they are now.”

The green-clothed woman sighed. When she recalled something, there was a sense of longing behind her eyes.

The emotion soon disappeared as she became calm and collected again.

The black-clothed woman nodded upon hearing that.

“I understand. Don’t worry. Although I’ve never been to that True World, I can tell that it’s full of Fortuity. It won’t face any challenges in the foreseeable future. For a Nascent True World to ascend to an Ancient True World, not only will it take a long time to accumulate its foundation, but it’ll also have to go through many Great Purges. Don’t be too concerned, Ninth Sister. Many Nascent True Worlds die in the Boundless Expanse every day. You’ve already done your best by giving the Immortal Dao Civilisation Flame to that True World.”

The green-clothed woman nodded and fell silent. Then, she turned around and was ready to leave.

Upon seeing that, the silver-haired young woman hurriedly ran after her and shouted, “Please wait for me, Mistress! I’ll go with you.”

The green-clothed woman looked helpless and sighed almost imperceptibly. “I should’ve given you to him. Staying by my side won’t do you any good.”

The silver-haired young woman pretended to not hear her words that sounded like murmurs. She approached her and wrapped her arm around the other woman’s, seemingly truly intimate with her.

When the black-clothed woman in the distance saw that, she shook her head helplessly. Then, she recalled something and put on a faint smile.

When she came across Little Wang Yue outside the Prosperous Dao True World back then, she felt that Little Wang Yue could be brought home and nurtured as she was of a Pure Bloodline.

Nevertheless, after bringing Little Wang Yue back to the Epoch Cicadas Clan, she discovered how lazy this young woman was. Little Wang Yue had no interest in cultivating. Other than eating and drinking, she would spend most of her time sleeping.

Her Ninth Sister, Qing Yi, always denied that she was the owner of Little Wang Yue and said that her owner was someone else.

However, in the black-clothed woman’s opinion, Qing Yi just felt too embarrassed to be Little Wang Yue’s owner, which was why she never acknowledged it to be true.

That said, life had been frustrating in the Epoch Cicadas Clan, and the arrival of Qing Yi and Little Wang Yue had brought them some air of liveliness.

Even their Mother, whose days were numbered, would frequently put on a gratified smile.

[Unfortunately, she won’t be able to see all this…] When the black-clothed woman thought of something, she became dejected again and the smile disappeared from her face. Then, she looked at the old man and said, “Elder Qing Cang, I told you to look into some matter a while back. Have you brought back any news?”

As she spoke, she waved her hand to motion for the others to leave.

“Third Princess, I’ve gathered some useful information regarding the matter you’ve asked me to look into. However, I don’t understand why you’re suddenly interested to know more about the Force with that offensive name. They’ll be destroyed sooner or later.”

The old man was named Elder Qing Cang, a respectable Elder in the Epoch Cicadas Clan.

He seemed puzzled by the woman’s sudden interest in a certain Force.

He did not even dare to utter the Force’s name, nor did he have the guts to think about it in his mind as he was worried that he would attract some attention from the Land of Truth and bring trouble to himself.

The Ancient Shroud Civilisation was unlike the other Civilisations such as the Primary Hope Civilisation and the Rising Dawn Civilisation. They were like the outpost of the Land of Truth, and they could receive callings from there.

Certainly, there were many similar outposts of the Land of Truth. Whenever the Great Purge happened, outposts like the Ancient Shroud Civilisation would be the first to feel it.

In the Ancient Shroud Civilisation, there were even ancient rumours saying that in the depths of the Ancient Shroud Civilisation, there were some supreme beings from the Land of Truth who had been slumbering for eons.

Those supreme beings had the Bloodline of those Inconceivable beings from the Land of Truth. They would awaken before each Great Purge, and they would lead the Purgers to do their job in the Boundless Expanse.

Therefore, those from Civilisations like the Ancient Shroud Civilisation had a better understanding of the Land of Truth and they were more terrified of it than those from other Civilisations.

“It’s fine. Just tell me everything you’ve gathered.” Said the black-clothed woman, which brought Elder Qing Cang back from his thoughts. There wasn’t any emotion on her alluring face.

After some hesitation, Elder Qing Cang said, “A major incident happened in the Primary Hope Civilisation during this period. It has something to do with that Force. Different Forces have worked together with a Great Sage who used to go against the Heaven’s Proxy Group. They’ve decided to establish the Primary Hope Covenant to deal with that Force.

“However, in my opinion, it’ll be hard for them to curb the development of that Force, considering the might of the Primary Hope Civilisation. They might even bring a calamity to themselves instead. I’m afraid the Founder of that Force can’t be killed so easily.

“Different Civilisations and Kingdoms have been paying attention to what’s going on in the Primary Hope Civilisation, including some Forces in the Ancient Shroud Civilisation. If the Primary Hope Covenant is signed in the Primary Hope Civilisation, it’ll be a valuable lesson for the other Civilisations.”

The black-clothed woman listened to him in silence. Her gaze gradually darkened.

“I got it. Thanks, Elder Qing Cang.” Many thoughts turned over in her mind as she clenched her fists.

“Don’t mention it, Third Princess. If there’s nothing else, I’ll take my leave.”

When Elder Qing Cang saw that the black-clothed woman did not have other orders, he tottered away while holding a cane.

The black-clothed woman remained in the same place and looked up at the vast universe. A moment later, she turned around and headed to the palaces in the depths of the tree’s crown.

[The Heavenslayers Alliance? If they can achieve their goal, it’ll be a chance for the Epoch Cicadas Clan to get rid of our fate!] She thought to herself. A glint flickered from her eyes.

To the Forces of the Ancient Shroud Civilisation, the name ‘Heavenslayers Alliance’ alone would terrify them.

If anyone found out what was on her mind, they would think she was out of her mind. She might have intended to bring a disaster to the Epoch Cicadas Clan.

“Second Sister, I’m leaving the Clan. I’ll let you handle the affairs here.”

In one of the palaces, a woman wearing colourful clothes with her eyes closed was seated there as a mist of seven colours surrounded her.

The Mist of Chaos spread in all directions and illusory images of a Small Universe kept flickering in front of her nose. It was a magnificent sight.

The black-clothed woman stood in the hall upon her arrival. There was no emotion on her face.

“Where are you going?” Upon hearing that, the woman in colourful clothes opened her eyes. Her crystal-like eyes seemed to reflect the sights of the Boundless Expanse. Her voice sounded melodious and celestial. Any man would be enchanted and he would not be willing to awaken from his dream.

“I’m going to the Primary Hope Civilisation.” The black-clothed woman calmly said.

The woman in colourful clothes stared fixedly at her. She seemed able to read her mind. She did not stop her, though. She only asked, “Are you sure?”

“I’ll bear all the consequences, and it has nothing to do with the Epoch Cicadas Clan,” said the black-clothed woman.

The woman in colourful clothes sighed. “Fine. I’m not going to stop you, nor can I do that. However, what about the thing that Little Nine has asked you to do?”

“Well, you’ll handle it on my behalf.” There was finally a faint smile on the black-clothed woman’s face, which was rare.

The woman wearing colourful clothes shook her head and fell silent. Then, she closed her eyes and continued meditating.

The black-clothed woman saluted her and turned around to leave the hall. Following that, she turned into a black light and flew towards the universe.

[It’s not so easy to change the fate of the Epoch Cicadas Clan. Countless Great Sages were unable to do that. Little Three, you’re clever, so it’s impossible for you to be unable to see that. I just hope that you won’t do anything silly. Our ancestral home cannot protect us much longer.]

The woman in colourful clothes opened her eyes and looked in the direction the black-clothed woman had left. Then, she let out a sigh.

Naturally, she could see through the black-clothed woman’s mind. During this period, the black-clothed woman had asked someone to gather information about the Heavenslayers Alliance. Now, she was even heading to the Primary Hope Civilisation.

Nevertheless, could those from the Heavenslayers destroy Heaven?

To the entire Boundless Expanse, the Land of Truth was Heaven, and trying to destroy it was sacrilege and provocation to the Land of Truth. The woman in colourful clothes did not even dare to imagine the consequences and Great Purges that it would bring about.

The Epoch Cicadas Clan was a special Clan in the Boundless Expanse. They were cicadas which carried the epochs. As their wings fluttered once, it would mean the death of an epoch.

Wherever the Epoch Cicadas went, there would be death and rebirth. The same things kept happening without an end.

The relationship between the Tree of Epoch and the Epoch Cicadas Clan was similar to the relationship between the Parasol Tree and the Phoenixes.

The Epoch Cicadas Clan members rested on the Tree of Epoch. They relied on each other to survive.

The Tree of Epoch nurtured countless living beings and gave birth to many universes. It was also called the World Tree, the Ancestor Tree, or the Source Tree. It was the fate of the Epoch Cicadas Clan to serve Heaven.

Since time immemorial, they had been worshipping Heaven with reverence.

Nevertheless, the Mother Tree of Epoch they had so heavily relied on was split into two by a supreme being from the Land of Truth. Their Fortuity and fate were badly damaged, and the Epoch Cicadas Clan members became the sinners of the Ancient Shroud Civilisation.

They would be lying if they said they were not resentful or did not want to get rid of their fate.

Nevertheless, so what if they were unresigned to their fate? All the living beings in the Boundless Expanse were like fish in a river. If they tried to get rid of the river and went ashore, they would be bound for destruction.
