“What kind of outcome did you want, then? To be honest, I don’t think you’re so foolish as to use such a scheme to deal with me.” Gu Changge said dispassionately.

“I’m surprised by what just happened as well. Before this, I never expected such a thing to take place. I can swear on my Dao Heart that I didn’t set this up. I’ve never thought about dealing with you this way.” Ling Yuling knew that Gu Changge might not believe her, but she still explained it to him awkwardly.

There was some buffer before this, but now, there were no other options than to fight each other. Her mind was a mess as the situation had gotten out of hand.

“What do you mean you’re surprised? That I’ve not only survived but also remained unscathed?” Gu Changge questioned emotionlessly upon hearing her words.

Ling Yuling sighed, knowing that her explanation was futile.

Gu Changge would not believe her again. He had shown her enough respect and trust by agreeing to sign the Primary Hope Covenant and he had even come over. Also, he had repeatedly asked her to join the Heavenslayers Alliance and assist him.

Anyone would not accept it if his kindness was betrayed like this.

After a moment of silence, Ling Yuling could only say apologetically, “I’m sorry.”

Gu Changge ignored her as he swept an icy glance over the people who were confronting those from the Heavenslayers Alliance. Then, he said emotionlessly, “I’ve given you a chance, but you’ve let it slip away. Since you don’t even care about the safety of the living beings of the Primary Hope Civilisation, why would I sympathise with you?”

The leaders of various Forces were flabbergasted upon hearing that.

Many were fearful, knowing what Gu Changge meant. There would’ve been room for negotiation if the earlier incident had not happened, and they could’ve signed the Primary Hope Covenant and coexisted peacefully.

    Now, everything had been ruined.

Naturally, Gu Changge would not sit down and talk with them again. There would be a war between the Heavenslayers Alliance and these Forces.

Many appeared bitter, wanting to say something. Nevertheless, they gulped down their words, knowing that they were in the wrong. Since they had setup such a despicable scheme, those from the Heavenslayers Alliance had every right to retaliate against them.

The Primary Hope Saintess looked at Ling Yuling, appearing to be hesitant. She was not sure whether Ling Yuling had really set this up.

There was one thing she was certain about, though. If Ling Yuling did not do anything to ease the tension, the Primary Hope Civilisation would plunge into bloody turmoil.

“I’ve always wanted the various Forces to coexist peacefully so that there won’t be any war. The Black Disaster is about to make a comeback. If we don’t stop the internal strife within the Primary Hope Civilisation, we won’t be able to get through this calamity. This goal of mine has never changed.”

Ling Yuling looked at Gu Changge, knowing that he was disappointed, though she was aware that she was not important enough to make him furious.

Still, she wanted to give it a shot, hoping to retain the status quo.

“You keep saying that the Black Disaster is about to make a comeback and that you hope for the internal strife in the Primary Hope Civilisation to stop, but from the looks of it, it’s not me who wants to destroy everything.

“Ling Yuling, aren’t you supposed to tell this to someone else? Don’t you think you’re barking up the wrong tree?” Gu Changge let out a nonchalant snort. Everyone could tell the mockery in his words.

Ling Yuling was startled, especially when she heard Gu Changge calling her by her name. She let out an almost imperceptible sigh, feeling frustrated. Was there no turning point?

“My mind is in a mess as well. I don’t know how to explain it to you, but I swear on my Dao Heart that it was not my doing. I do not wish to go to war with the Heavenslayers Alliance. All of us from the Imperial Celestial Palace, including me, owe you a favour. There’s no way we’ll harm you. If not for the fact that our stances are different, we could’ve become good friends.

“Can you give me some time, Young Master Gu? Give me another chance. I promise that I’ll give you an explanation and find out who used the Golden Book of Covenant to scheme against you and destroy the Primary Hope Covenant. That person must have been ill-intentioned and must have done so deliberately. It’s also likely that an enemy of the Primary Hope Civilisation has secretly made a move.” Ling Yuling was usually gentle, but now she appeared determined and obstinate. She stared at Gu Changge, looking anxious.

Many were startled upon hearing that. Was it not Ling Yuling’s doing?

She had collaborated with some people to make the Golden Book of Covenant and she had overseen every part of the process. How was it possible that someone could schemed using that golden book without her knowledge?

Or, was it merely her excuse to stall for time?

After the earlier incident, many no longer dared to judge a book by its cover, knowing that Ling Yuling was not as demure as she appeared.

“Alliance Leader, don’t listen to her excuses. She’s such a devious person. Who knows if she’s coming up with a new way to harm you? Not everyone is as magnanimous and kind-hearted as you are.” Those from the Heavenslayers Alliance hurriedly persuaded him.

Some were anxious, worried that Gu Changge would easily believe the woman.

“Ling Yuling, you’re a Great Sage, so you’re supposed to know that a Heaven Dao Oath can no longer restrict beings like us.” Gu Changge ignored the anxiety of those from the Heavenslayers Alliance. He glanced at Ling Yuling and smiled. “I can give you another chance, and I’m willing to sign the Primary Hope Covenant. However, there’s one condition From now on, I’ll have the absolute right to give commands to all the Forces in the Primary Hope Civilisation. If there’s any resistance, they’ll be met with the severest punishments.

“What do you say? It can retain the peace you want without resorting to violence, and it can also solve the internal strife you’re so worried about. What’s more, the covenant can be used to restrict all the Forces. Doesn’t it bring many benefits?”

Ling Yuling was stunned and speechless upon hearing that. She parted her lips, not knowing what to say. Even if she agreed to this condition, the other Forces of the Primary Hope Civilisation would be against it.

Even when the Primary Hope Holy Church was at the peak of its power, they could not make all the Forces in the Primary Hope Civilisation obey their commands.

This was no different from slavery.

The leaders of the various Forces donned dark expressions.

Naturally, they would not agree to such a condition, for it would be no different from becoming the slaves of the Heavenslayers Alliance. In that case, they would rather put their lives at risk to fight for a chance of survival.

“I’m sorry. Even if I’m willing to agree to your condition, there’s no way I’ll succeed. All of us from the Imperial Celestial Palace can agree to your condition, but I can’t decide for the various Forces. I don’t think they’ll agree to it anyway.” Ling Yuling said bitterly.

Gu Changge was not surprised by this. He only said with a smile, “But isn’t it the best outcome for all living beings in the Boundless Expanse? Why aren’t the leaders of the various Forces willing to agree to this? Is it because all they care about is themselves, and not the rest? Other than the Heavenslayers Alliance, there’s no other Force in the world which cares about the survival of the weak and helpless.”

His words were blunt, stripping bare the pretence of all the Forces there.

A myriad of expressions came over these leaders. Although they were displeased, they were unable to refute him.

Many smaller Forces were not surprised by the outcome, but they felt bitter and unresigned.

This was the cruel truth of the world. To those Immortal Forces, all other living beings were merely ants and their lives did not matter.

In the past, these Major Forces would claim that everything they did was for the sake of all living beings, but now, their selfishness and hypocrisy were revealed.

Just like what Gu Changge had said, apart from the Heavenslayers Alliance, no other Force in the world would care about their survival.

These smaller Forces thought they could stand a chance to survive by joining forces, but they were no different from laughable ants to those Immortal Forces.

At this point, they would rather join the Heavenslayers Alliance than become cannon fodder for the Major Forces.

“Stop spouting nonsense. We don’t have to waste our time knocking some sense into immoral and evil people like them. There’s no point in signing the Primary Hope Covenant. We should just collaborate and destroy the Heavenslayers Alliance right here.” The leader of the Solar Heavenly Clan growled with an icy expression, breaking the silence.

The Elders and Disciples of the Solar Heavenly Clan were full of murderous intent and ready to sacrifice their lives.

“He’s right. Things have come to a point where it’s pointless to say anything else. Those from the Heavenslayers Alliance are against Heaven and they’ll receive their retribution sooner or later. What we’re doing is to destroy them on behalf of Heaven.”

“Even if you watch everything from the sidelines now, do you think they’ll not retaliate against you?”

“There are countless galaxies and True Worlds in the Boundless Expanse, and many are born and die every day. This is a natural law that will never change. Why should we even feel guilty about it? What we’re supposed to do is obey Heaven. How can we please Heaven if we can’t even destroy the Heavenslayers Alliance?”

A leader of a Sect stepped forward. His loud voice reverberated across the place. The beings who were hesitant were flabbergasted upon hearing that.

He was right to say that even if they felt guilty and decided to steer clear of the matter, it would be pointless.

How were they going to explain that they were not part of the plan to harm Gu Changge? How could they ensure those from the Heavenslayers Alliance would not retaliate against them?

All of them were in the same boat now.

Moreover, countless Forces got destroyed in the Boundless Expanse every day. Who would care about them?

Gu Changge might have successfully persuaded them, but why would an important figure like him care about ants like them?

“It seems that we indeed don’t have a choice.”

The leaders of some Forces hesitated for a moment before making up their minds. Their gazes turned icy and ruthless as they secretly told their people to get prepared to make a move at any moment.

Instigated by people like the leader of the Solar Heavenly Clan, many Forces stopped hesitating as well.

They could not guarantee that they would coexist peacefully with the Heavenslayers Alliance, nor were they sure that the other party would not retaliate against them. The only solution was to join forces with the others to destroy the Heavenslayers Alliance.

The guilt they had felt vanished since they had to protect the interests of their Forces.

“Well, I suppose this is true human nature. You’ve said you’ve been doing all this for the sake of all living beings, but it’s nonsense because all you care about are your interests. After your pretence is torn apart, you’re no different from those evil people. How dare you say we’re evil?”

Old Man Sai Ya from the Heavenslayers Alliance could not help but mock them.

“Since all of you are sick of living, we’ll grant your wish.”

“You don’t stand a chance to win the war when the Alliance Leader is here.”

After Old Man Sai Ya finished speaking, the powerful cultivators from the Heavenslayers Alliance laughed with disdain and mockery.

“How are you going to destroy me when you can’t even handle such a small matter? It’s laughable that you’ve tried to set a boundary between you and the ants. In my opinion, all of you are also ants just like them.”

Gu Changge swept an icy glance over the various Forces. There was no emotion behind his gaze.

“Stop spouting nonsense. We have every right to kill an evil person like you.”

The leader of the Solar Heavenly Clan shouted as he could not stand the way Gu Changge looked at them like they were ants.

The Yin Yang Sword appeared and shot out from between his palms. It turned into the monochromatic symbols of Yin and Yang as they spun around and descended. The tremendous aura shocked all the Dao Realm experts.

The Immortal Kings, Quasi-Immortal Emperors, and Immortal Emperors in the surrounding Great Universes were suppressed by the aura. They could not help but fall to their knees, ready to press their heads against the floor in that direction.

The horrifying aura spread across the entire Mountain of Wonders, extending into the universe around it.

After the leader of the Solar Heavenly Clan made a move, the Dao Realm Elders behind him did the same. Vivid Principles formed a web, covering the entire sky as it swooped down on Gu Changge.

The chaotic war broke out without a warning. The palaces in the Mountain of Wonders turned into ruins.

Besieged by so many Ancestral Dao Realm experts, many were powerless to resist and they instantly turned into dust.

Gu Changge looked dispassionately at these people. Then, he raised his hand and extended it.

In an instant, a terrifying aura filled the entire Spacetime as though a dam had burst. It quickly engulfed those like the leader of the Solar Heavenly Clan.

The next moment, the Yin Yang Sword cracked upon impact. The leader of the Solar Heavenly Clan was the first to be hurt as he spat blood and his arms exploded. Disbelief was written all over his face.

“H-How is that possible?” His voice was shaky.

The area fell into complete darkness. No light was seen as the immense pressure spread and crushed all the principles around it.

Every universe or Spacetime trembled. Without the protection of Dao Realm experts, the terrifying aura alone could destroy everything.

The entire figure of the leader of the Solar Heavenly Clan was drowned in darkness. No sound was heard coming from it.

The ancient beings in the Mountain of Wonders were astounded. They could not see anything from there with clarity, not even the figure of Gu Changge.

Then, a deafening boom was heard. It was as though the sound came from ancient times and it reverberated across the River of Time.

The leader of the Solar Heavenly Clan fell from there. His eyes widened in disbelief and there was a hole between his brows. Broken bones spilt out of his wound. He had lost all his blood.

An ancient illusory figure appeared behind his dilated eyes, reflecting what he had seen.

He had seen a blurred figure from ancient times. The person emerged from the end of the River of Time while holding a halberd which exuded the Aura of Darkness.

As the halberd was casually wielded, many ancient universes and Supreme True Worlds turned into ashes and dust. Many living beings instantly died.

The aura became increasingly horrifying as the figure came over. Supreme lights beamed from him as he stepped forward, shattering everything around him.

“How is that possible?” Before Ancestral Dao Realm experts died, they had bore witness to something inconceivable.

No one knew what the leader of the Solar Heavenly Clan had seen. He was killed after a brief exchange of blows. At this moment, disbelief and horror were written all over his face.
