Ling Yuxian secretly left the Imperial Celestial Palace with the notes her Older Sister had left behind and headed to the current headquarters of the Heavenslayers Alliance.

She had no intention of informing anyone about it because she was not sure if the person who had contacted her Older Sister back then was in the Imperial Celestial Palace.

After all, the Chaotic Spacetime Sea was located in the depths of the Imperial Celestial Palace. Since her Older Sister could traverse across it, the beings from there could also cross over.

She was not certain about why such a Force or such a person wanted to deal with Gu Changge. Was it because he had established the Heavenslayers Alliance? Or was it because of some other reasons?

Although there had been turmoil in the Primary Hope Civilisation these years as many Forces had disappeared, it could be said that they had a more secure future under the leadership of Gu Changge. Under the management of Heavenslayers Alliance, no Forces dared to kick up a storm. This kind of order had not been seen in a long time.

The entire cultivation world was flourishing. Everything was on the right track.

Even if the Heavenslayers Alliance had a bad reputation, it ended the chaotic situation in the Primary Hope Civilisation where different Forces constantly fought each other. Gu Changge managed to unite everyone in the Primary Hope Civilisation. This was something those from the Primary Hope Holy Church couldn’t achieve even at the peak of their power.

Ordinary people were grateful to be able to live in this environment.

As light radiated from a Teleportation Array, Ling Yuxian disappeared along with others on it.

After moving across several Great Universes, she eventually arrived at an ancient area near the headquarters of Heavenslayers Alliance.

She did not choose to send a message to Gu Changge from the Imperial Celestial Palace. Instead, she had decided to come to the Heavenslayers Alliance as she was worried someone would detect her intention in advance. Fortunately, no one had tailed her along the way.

It was for this reason that she was relieved.

This ancient area was vast and had many ancient Spirit Veins. Hence, the Spiritual Energy here was unimaginably rich. There were several Teleportation Arrays here as well. Still, this place could be considered remote compared with the central areas of some universes.

Upon her arrival, Ling Yuxian immediately went to a nearby city. It was not that easy to head to the headquarters of the Heavenslayers Alliance.

Now, she regretted not getting a communication jade talisman from Gu Changge back then.

Suddenly, a red light shot past the sky which caught the attention of Ling Yuxian and nearby cultivators.

Inside the red light was a massive bird which was flying at an astonishing speed with its wings spread. It was like a divine light was traversing across the world. It was fearful as though trying to run away from a horrifying creature behind it.

The bird kept screaming for help while running away. Its gaze was full of terror and despondence.

“It’s the prodigy, Ling Wu, from the Ling Clan. Why is he being hunted down?” The cultivators there were shocked when they noticed that. Some were ready to step forward to save the massive bird.

“Someone with the Bloodline of the Phonix Clan, who is only half a step away from becoming a True Immortal. Why is he being hunted down in this place?”

Ling Yuxian was astounded as well. She frowned and hesitated for a bit before deciding to make a move.

Suddenly, a dazzling arrow came from the distance which carried the power of a thunderstorm. It penetrated the massive bird. Then, it exploded as the blood splattered in all directions.

Those who had intended to help were rooted to the spot upon seeing that. They could hardly conceal their fear.

“Ling Wu was a rebel who did not adhere to the doctrine. He dared challenged the authority of the Heavenslayers Alliance. I had decided to kill him to serve as a warning to all others.”

An old man in a black robe emerged from the distance. His hood had covered his face. He sounded so dispassionate it was as though he was a God who had announced his verdict.

There was a burly man beside him with a sneer on his face. He slowly kept his bow.

“My Grandfather is an Priest of the Heavenslayers Temple in Fortune Starfall City. How dare you try to snatch a woman from me?” A young man who looked sinister scoffed. Due to a lack of vitality, he had a pair of sunken eyes.

They took a look at the blood mist in the sky and left with satisfaction. They did not care about those who were trembling in fear.

    Someone sighed. “I knew it…”

“I knew this was the reason. After the Yun Clan paid a huge price to build the Heavenslayers Temple and received the acknowledgement of the Heavenslayers Alliance, they started acting arrogant. Now, they don’t even have any regard for the Ling Clan. They could even kill a prodigy as they please.”

“The current Heavenslayers Alliance is no different from those evil Forces. In my opinion, they’re just like the remnants of the Black Disaster…”

“Shush! Are you sick of living? How dare you even say such a thing?”

After those people left, those present whispered among themselves. They were furious and displeased while feeling helpless.

As Ling Yuxian listened to their conversation, she was rooted to the spot. She found everything inconceivable.

Why was the Heavenslayers Alliance in the eyes of the ordinary cultivators so different from the one she knew? How was it possible that they were just like the remnants of the Black Disaster?

“Who’s Luo Xiangjun? Someone who used to disguise herself as the Saintess of the Divine Eternal Clan? But I have nothing to do with the Divine Eternal Clan. Is she mistaken?” Meanwhile, in the valley, Mu Yan had just learned from Gu Changge that Luo Xiangjun was looking for her. Her eyes widened in disbelief and puzzlement.

“I’m only responsible for passing on her word to you. Whether you’ll agree to it, it’s up to you.” Gu Changge was seated on a stone bench as he slowly sipped his tea. Yao Yao showed the result of her hard work during this period with the help of the Fortuitous Furnace while waiting for Gu Changge to compliment her.

Then, he extended his thumb and index finger before flicking at her forehead.

    *Pah*

“You still have a long way to go before fully refining the furnace. Don’t be too proud of yourself. It’ll do you no good.”

Yao Yao was in pain. She covered her reddened forehead and looked aggrievedly at Gu Changge.

Mu Yan was hesitating whether she should agree to Luo Xiangjun’s request. After all, she had learned from Gu Changge that the woman had a special background and some treasures.

Suddenly, she snapped back to reality when his voice turned icy.

“You’re not the one who has prepared tea today, are you? It’s bitter.” Gu Changge frowned and put down the teacup.

“Well, you should be grateful that you even have tea to drink. How could you dismiss it as tasting bad?” Mu Yan rolled her eyes. Still, she rose to her feet while carrying a bodily fragrance. She poured the rest of the tea out of the teapot, ready to prepare some tea herself.

Gu Changge ignored her. He took a look at Ling Yuling in the distance. She was shocked and awkward as her face had slightly reddened.

It seemed that she wanted to say something, but she was hesitant.

“The job of serving others doesn’t seem to suit you,” Gu Changge said impassively.

“I’m sorry…” Ling Yuling felt even more embarrassed. It was her first time preparing tea. She initially thought it would be easy after learning it from Mu Yan. However, she had underestimated this seemingly easy job.

Mu Yan was always nonchalant when preparing tea. Although her method was simple, she was graceful when doing that. Ling Yuling had learned everything by observing her, but when she tried to do it, she realised she had not gotten the gist of it.

Gu Changge could instantly tell the difference.

“If you feel bored here, you can water all the peach trees outside the valley and get rid of all the weeds.” Gu Changge rose from the bench and started giving some guidance to Yao Yao for the day.

“N-No…” Ling Yuling was startled, knowing that Gu Changge had gotten her wrong. She did not prepare tea because she was bored.

She quickly explained, “I can see that you love drinking tea, so I thought you’d like it. I didn’t expect the tea to end up like this. I had prepared many pots of tea and this was the best.”

She was the Founder of the Imperial Celestial Palace and a Great Sage who had fought against the Black Disaster. She had never studied the preferences of anyone and even prepared tea for another person.

However, that was what happened. Not only did she prepare many pots of tea, but she also did it carefully. In the end, her tea was dismissed as tasting bad.

Gu Changge glanced at her with a frown and said emotionlessly, “If you think you can please me or make it up to me by lowering your status and preparing tea for me, you can save your energy. In my eyes, you are not as noble as you think you are. Moreover, the tea you’ve prepared is the most bitter and terrible I’ve ever tasted. Don’t do anything that doesn’t suit you again.”

He spoke slowly and casually as though he was merely bringing up an insignificant matter to a friend.

Even Yao Yao could feel the glaring indifference. She was so shocked that she focused on just cultivating, not daring to keep listening to them.

If Gu Changge said something similar to her, she would be so aggrieved that she would break into tears in an instant.

Upon hearing that, Ling Yuling was startled for a moment before her face paled. Tears started gathering in her eyes.

She bit her lip and stared fixedly at Gu Changge, not expecting him to be so cruel and blunt. She was practically useless in his eyes now. In the past, he was always gentle to her and he showed manners. Even when he was dispelling the Aura of Darkness for her, he never did anything inappropriate.

Then, even when they were at war after they fell out because of the Primary Hope Covenant, Gu Changge still decided to hold back. He did not kill her.

She felt that if they had been on the same side instead of being the other way around, they could’ve been good friends. She still believed that to be true even at that point. Much to her surprise, Gu Changge was so resentful of her that he would say such things to hurt her.

Their relationship could not be mended. They could no longer sit down and casually chat.

“I…I…” Ling Yuling did not even realise that her voice was slightly shaky.

Gu Changge shook his head and looked away from her before continuing to give Yao Yao some guidance.

“I’m sorry.” Ling Yuling hung her head low while feeling a sore in her nose. She had never felt this aggrieved. Her tears had blurred her vision.

She bit her lip to stop herself from breaking into tears. Then, she turned around and left.

She had intended to ease the tension between the two of them by preparing tea for him. However, she had no intention of pleasing him or making it up to him by using her identity. She just wanted to resolve the misunderstandings that Gu Changge had about her. Before that, she had to ease the tension between them. She could not just let Gu Changge ignore her like she was air.

Nevertheless, Gu Changge still got her intention wrong.

“The Founder of the Imperial Celestial Palace, someone like that was on the brink of tears. Such a rare sight. Those who don’t know what’s going on might think you’ve done something outrageous to her. But, she indeed has no talent in preparing tea. Still, she was sincere. You didn’t see how clumsy she was and how much her hands got burnt.”

Mu Yan came over with the tea she had prepared. It was a great show in her opinion.

Gu Changge shot her a look. “This has nothing to do with you.”

“Why didn’t I realise you were such a cruel guy when I first met you? Don’t you know you shouldn’t disappoint a sincere woman?” Mu Yan smiled brightly. There was a cunning expression on her alluring face.

“This won’t justify the fact that you entered my room in the middle of the night,” Gu Changge said slowly.

Mu Yan blushed. She looked at the dazed Yao Yao and muttered, “Your Disciple is still here…”

“After Yao Yao leaves this place to get some training, I’ll send you away as well. You’re always so noisy.” She was giving Gu Changge a headache.

Mu Yan said with a smile, “Everyone in the Boundless Expanse is fearful of you, the Heavenslayers Alliance Leader. But are you afraid of a woman like me?”

“Wang Zijin and you could be good friends…” Gu Changge did not expect that the Sovereign Empress of the Immortal Spirit Civilisation, who was destined to become a villain, would end up this way.

Mu Yan had never heard of that name before, but she could tell that she could share Gu Changge with that woman just by observing his expression.

She snorted and rubbed the cheeks of the dazed Yao Yao before leaving with a cheerful smile. Yao Yao was still startled because of what Gu Changge had said.

“Well, it’s not that bad…” After Mu Yan left, Gu Changge took a sip of tea prepared by Ling Yuling. He looked meditatively in the direction Ling Yuling had left.

He felt that the right time had come. Ling Yuling was unlike the others. Although she appeared gentle and graceful, she was extremely proud of herself.

After so many epochs of cultivating, she could remain calm and collected regardless of what happened.

If he wanted to make her yield to him, he had to keep suppressing her so that she would doubt herself, reflect on her mistakes, and blame herself. She would have to show her weaknesses.

The self-directed show using the Primary Hope Covenant was a trap Gu Changge had set up for the entire Primary Hope Civilisation as well as Ling Yuling.

Letting the people of Imperial Celestial Palace go and releasing Ling Yuling from the dark prison were also part of his plan.

Now, many of her reactions and actions showed that Gu Changge’s plan was effective.

Ling Yuling was still a useful and important chess piece to him.
