In the past few days, this matter started showing signs of sliding into obscurity.

Although the Royal Family of the Land of Celestial Suffering was still looking into this matter, they were not as meticulous as before.

This made Chu Bai anxious. He had a feeling that an invisible force was influencing everything.

The truth behind the death of the Champion General’s Wife must be more complicated than it seemed.

The mysterious Force that had been involved must be beyond anyone’s imagination.

After the Artifact Spirit of the Sun Shooting Bow gave him a heads-up, Chu Bai realised that the Force that was going against the Champion General might be within the capital. As such, this Force would not let the Champion General’s trusted aide safely return to the capital.

After all, such a thing had never happened before. It took place when the Land of Celestial Suffering was facing a crisis and the Champion General had led an army to go against the enemies. Chu Bai could not be blamed for forming some associations.

“You have a point, Brother Chu Bai. I didn’t think of that. It seems that the situation in the capital is more chaotic than we had expected. I wonder which person has the guts to hurt the Champion General’s Wife. I believe it must be someone resentful of the Champion General because the King has intended to promote him following the death of the Heavenly Divine General.”

A burly man with tanned skin looked at the night sky. There was a Purple Gold Warhammer at his waist. His name was Chu Kui. He was a brilliant cultivator from the House of Talents. He was just as strong as Chu Bai.

The people there were shocked upon hearing that.

Although they were the talented people nurtured in the Land of Celestial Suffering, they did not dare to make any assumptions.

There were several factions among these talented cultivators. A particular faction was on good terms with the Heavenly Divine General and the other Divine Generals. On the other hand, they were close to the Champion General.

Chu Kui’s statement was no different from saying that those close to the Divine Generals were going against the Champion General.

“You shouldn’t have said that, Chu Kui. If someone else heard what you said, it wouldn’t bring us any benefits. Before we get to the truth behind the death of Lady Chu, we’d better not make any enemies,” said a tall and slender woman who was clad in a purple dress. Her skin was as fair as snow.

Her hair was silky and her eyebrows were beautifully shaped. Her pupils were special as they were emerald. It was as though her eyes could enchant people.

Her name was Bi Xin. She was also one of the most brilliant cultivators from the House of Talents. She was talented in the Dao of Wood and the Dao of Water. Even among people like Chu Bai and the others, she had the best chance of making it to the Dao Realm.

“We’d better not bring this up again. We’re here to protect the Champion General’s trusted aide, not make more enemies through unfounded speculation.” A deep voice was heard coming from the void. The Dao Realm expert had spoken, but he did not reveal his aura.

People like Chu Kui, Bi Xin, and Chu Bai respected him, so they immediately fell silent.

“Chu Bai, are you sure Han Feng will come to this place?”

The deep voice sounded again. At the same time, a dark gaze fell upon Chu Bai from the void.

“This place is the fastest route where one can return to the capital from the border. Han Feng is treasured by the Champion General and he has refined the True Blood of the Ancient Emperor Kun. He’s one of the fastest people in the world. It’ll only take him a few days to return to the capital, and I’m sure he’ll go through this route,” Chu Bai said seriously.

The Han Feng he had mentioned was also a strong and talented man. He was the Champion General’s trusted aide. They could be considered close. When they were getting training under the Champion General back then, they had come into contact with Han Feng. Therefore, Chu Bai knew that the Champion General would surely send Han Feng back to the capital at this point.

To ensure that their enemies wouldn’t find out about it and intercept him, Han Feng wouldn’t return to the capital through the Teleportation Arrays. So, he could only take shortcuts that not many people were aware of. There was no doubt he would go through this route.

Since Chu Bai could figure this out, the mysterious Force in the capital could do the same. Therefore, the mysterious Force might have sent some powerful cultivators to this place to ensure that Han Feng could not return to the capital.

This hill was massive, looking like a column between Heaven and Earth. In truth, it was made from many broken stars.

This area was covered in an array. A mysterious aura was flowing around. Any cultivators or living beings who dared to traverse across the void to reach this place would be greeted with a bolt of lightning, causing them to be badly injured or even die.

While Chu Bai and the others were waiting, sand rose into the air in the distance under the night sky.

A vague figure suddenly vanished. He was still in the distance at one moment, but he arrived at this place the next instant. He could move as quickly as a flash of lightning. The spacetime around him blurred.

“That’s Han Feng.” Chu Bai’s breathing became unstable as he stared fixedly at that person. Still, he suppressed his urge to show up.

Just like Chu Bai, the others from the House of Talents were hiding in the dark. None of their auras were revealed.

[There’s the smell of blood. Han Feng’s aura isn’t stable. It seems that he has come across a lot of danger along the way.] Chu Bai felt his heart sinking.

<The situation in the Land of Celestial Suffering is more complicated than I had imagined. I wonder which person the Champion General has offended. Who has the power to get Han Feng hunted down and badly injured along the way?> The Artifact Spirit of the Sun Shooting Bow spoke to Chu Bai in his mind with a hint of interest.

This made Chu Bai increasingly worried. Other than the capital, the mysterious Force seem to also have some moles in parts of the Land of Celestial Suffering.

<Do you think the Royal Family of the Land of Celestial Suffering might have a hand in this matter?> The Artifact Spirit of the Sun Shooting Bow spoke again with interest.

In the past, Chu Bai would not form a suspicion like this. However, he had fallen for Chu Gucheng’s scheme. Chu Gucheng secretly left behind his mark on the Sun Shooting Bow in an attempt to snatch this treasure away from him. After the incident, he finally realised Chu Gucheng merely pretended to be an upright person.

Therefore, he did not rule out the possibility of what the Artifact Spirit of the Sun Shooting Bow had said.

“If those close to the Divine Generals have indeed made a move, the King will cover it up for them even if he’s aware of this. After all, the Land of Celestial Suffering is dealing with enemies right now. If there’s any internal strife, the consequences will be dreadful…” Chu Bai muttered under his breath. He felt it was likely the case.

Regardless of whether they were close to the Divine Generals or the Champion General, all of them were nurtured by Chu Gucheng. He treasured all of them.

Nevertheless, to ensure that no one party would be dominant, he would make the two parties restrain each other to strike a balance.

If that was indeed the case, what Chu Gucheng had done would disappoint many.

“All of you have been following me the entire time. Why don’t you show up?”

Chu Bai came to his senses and turned to look in that direction when he heard a sneer.

Han Feng stood atop a peak. The stars were dim, and all the essence of the universe in this area seemed to be streaming towards him. Every pore of his skin radiated a glow. It was as though his pores could absorb all the light under the night sky. From afar, it looked like a surging silver river.

Han Feng was trying to heal his wounds. As a Quasi-Dao Realm expert, he could feel auras inching closer to his position.

The feeling intensified when he arrived at this area. The murderous intent was everywhere as many stars had fallen apart.

His journey from the border to the capital hadn’t been peaceful. He had come across all sorts of assassination attempts. He had no idea which person Chu Heng had offended. The other party had the power to make it this tough for him to return to the capital.

Fortunately, the strongest person from the other party was only a Dao Realm expert. Although Han Feng was weaker than his opponent, he could flee at an astonishing speed and stay safe.

He reckoned that the other party did not dare to send more powerful Dao Realm experts, who had gone through many Decay Tribulations. After all, beings like them were rare in the Land of Celestial Suffering. If they made a move, their auras would reveal who they were.

“You’re really something. You’re able to come all the way here. Unfortunately, this is your final destination. The capital is in front of us, but you don’t have a chance to go there.”

A dispassionate voice sounded in front of Han Feng. The void contorted and the Principles trembled.

Following that, a vague figure stepped out of the void. His face could not be made out since he was wearing a mask. His robe looked ordinary as it was not embroidered with any pattern. Nevertheless, the terrifying aura of the Great Dao seemed to be flowing around his bony fingers. He seemed able to destroy Heaven and Earth.

This vague figure was followed by several people. Their auras seemed to have merged with the void as Spacetime contorted.

Han Feng stared fixedly at that figure. He knew that some people were waiting for him there.

He said in a hoarse voice, “Who has sent all of you to hunt me down? The Champion General is going against the enemies at the frontlines to protect the Land of Celestial Suffering, but people like you are trying to kill me behind his back. The Champion General’s Wife was so humiliated that she ended her own life. What’s more, all of you are trying to disrupt the stability of the Land of Celestial Suffering at this critical juncture. What are you trying to achieve?”

The person wearing a mask only looked impassively at Han Feng without responding to him.

The people behind him also glanced emotionlessly at Han Feng as though he was a dead person.

“What’s the point of you saying useless things like these before your death? If a certain somebody wants the Champion General dead, he has to die. All of you won’t be able to survive.” This person directly made a move after he finished speaking icily.

The terrifying fluctuations swept across the area. Stars were trembling and the ground was shaking. The Principles around his fingers turned into a tangible symbol and descended upon Han Feng.

Many void cracks appeared, destroying all the substances in the world.

This person was a Dao Realm expert. Furthermore, he had gone through his Second Decay Tribulations.

Han Feng fell into a despairing state when the other party made a move.

At the same time, the people behind the masked man were seated and chanting.

Chaos Energy spread across space. It was as though they had returned to the time when Heaven and Earth were just created. They were holding strings of beads in their hands which radiated glows of different colours that proliferated in all directions.

The area became blurred and chaotic. It had been concealed as though it had disappeared from Spacetime. It was untraceable.

“To think you all are generous enough to send such a powerful Dao Realm expert to deal with me.” Han Feng was despondent but unwilling to be resigned to his fate.

If his opponent had only gone through their First Decay Tribulation, he had the confidence to flee. But not against a Second Decay Dao Realm expert. There was no way he could survive.

Han Feng did not want to die. Not until he figured out which person wanted to deal with the Champion General.

There were not a lot of Dao Realm experts who had gone through their Second Decay Tribulation in the Land of Celestial Suffering.

One had to know that even a Dao Realm expert who had only experienced a Single Decay Tribulation was famous, not to mention a being who had experienced two.

Such an important person was there to personally end his life.

“What’s going on in the capital!? Even a being like you is told to make a move!?”  Presently, Han Feng was not the only one who found everything inconceivable.

People like Chu Bai, Chu Kui, and Bi Xin, who had been waiting for a chance to make a move in the darkness, were in a state of disbelief as well.

Families which had been around for a long time in the Land of Celestial Suffering might not have Ancestors in the Dao Realm.

Everyone knew what it meant for a Second Decay Dao Realm expert to make a move. At the thought of this, they shuddered in fear.

“Please make a move, Senior Wu Xuan.” Without hesitation, Chu Bai called out to the Dao Realm expert who had been hiding in the dark.

“I’m no match for that person. I can only hold him up while all of you break the siege with Han Feng. The other party has come prepared. They’ve cordoned off the entire area, determined to kill Han Feng without leaving any traces.” Said the man with a deep voice.

At the same time, a middle-aged man in a robe stepped out of the void. He was wearing a hat and holding a fan, looking like a scholar. Nevertheless, his aura was as immense as the ocean.

He was a Dao Realm expert, but he was much weaker than the being wearing a mask. After all, he had only gone through his First Decay Tribulation.

“I don’t think it’s appropriate for a powerful person like you to make a move against the Champion General’s trusted aide,” Wu Xuan said impassively. At the same time, a light beamed from his sleeve to go against the symbol cast by the masked man.

The moment Wu Xuan showed up, Chu Bai and the others turned into rays of light and charged towards the despondent Han Feng.

“Leave with us, Han Feng! We’re here to help!”

The towering Chu Kui wielded his Purple Gold Warhammer. Lightning appeared and a terrifying force bolted forward, trying to break the seal around this area.

People like Chu Bai and Bi Xin also used their moves to shatter the seal in this place.

Han Feng did not expect others to lend him a helping hand at this critical moment. He was elated.

When he made out the faces of Chu Bai and the others, he gratefully said, “Thanks for the help. I’ll surely return your favour one day.”

“It’s you, Wu Xuan from the House of Talents. I knew some people would show up and save this guy. However, you’ve overestimated your capabilities. What makes you think you can stop me?” The masked man was not surprised by the appearance of Wu Xuan. He let out a sneer tinged with disdain.

“Since you can recognise me, you must be an authoritative figure in the capital. What’s the point of you hiding your face?” Wu Xuan stepped forward but failed in his attempt to fend off the other party’s attack. His expression turned solemn.

As he spoke, he waved his fan, which caused the order of the Great Dao to surge forward like a storm. Billions of lights of different colours shattered the Spacetime around them as he tried to stop the other party.

“Stop wasting your energy. All fluctuations here have been concealed. Even though you’re in the Dao Realm as well, you can never break free. We’ll never let him return to the capital. Our mission is to kill him without anyone knowing.” The masked man’s impassive voice was tinged with contempt. He extended his hand as all the Principles coming at him were suppressed. He was not harmed at all.

Wu Xuan donned a dark expression. He did not expect the gap between their strength to be so massive. Although both of them were Dao Realm experts, he had only gone through his First Decay Tribulation, whereas the other party had gone through his second. It was a gap he could never overcome.

He could even feel that the other party had the intention of killing all of them right there and then to ensure no one else would find out about this.

When Chu Bai and the others noticed the seal around them, they were shocked and livid. The beads had been blessed with some form of power, making sure that they could not break free.

“Someone truly strong is in the capital, and they intend to deal with the Champion General.” Han Feng was despondent. He thought of the Champion General who was still killing the enemies at the frontlines. He was his trusted aide, but he was stopped and assaulted outside the capital.

He did not even have the chance to return to the capital.
