Yin Mei was clad in a long pink dress. Her silky hair hung loose to her waist. Her alluring face was full of elation. Since she was holding her furry fox tail, it made her skin look smooth and flawless. Her skin radiated a healthy glow, looking like the best jade in the world.
She ran towards Gu Changge’s place. Upon her arrival, she stared fixedly at Gu Changge. Her clear eyes were brimming with love and longing.
Gu Changge smiled and pulled her into his arms. Yin Mei pressed her head against his chest and closed her eyes, enjoying this rare moment of intimacy. He did not utter a word while feeling the softness in his arms. Some indescribable feelings rose within him.
A moment later, Yin Mei opened her eyes and touched his cheek. She parted her red lips and said aggrievedly, “Young Master, you’re finally back.”
“I came back once, but all of you were in seclusion, so I didn’t disturb you. I took a look and left.” Gu Changge said with a smile and ran his fingers through her silky hair.
Yin Mei hummed. Knowing that she had a place in Gu Changge’s heart, she felt everything was worth it. Satisfied, she leaned against Gu Changge and wrapped her arms around his neck. Then, she muttered to him about the latest developments of Heavenslayers Alliance and Prosperous Dao True World, just like what she had always done in the past.
Gu Changge had told her to handle the affairs in the Prosperous Dao True World before he departed, so she naturally would not disappoint him.
Upon hearing that, Gu Changge shook his head with a smile and stopped her. “We’ll talk about it later. Now, I want to know how all of you have been doing over the years.”
Yin Mei’s eyes widened with surprise.
“What’s wrong? What’s that look on your face? Has life been terrible for you over the years?” Gu Changge was not surprised by her reaction. Still, he intentionally asked her that question with a smile.
Yin Mei shook her head before nodding. Then, she said unhappily, “I’ve been miserable when you’re not by my side, Young Master. I feel terrible every day, and I miss you every day.”
Although she and Gu Changge were married, she still preferred to call him Young Master. That was because, unlike Husband, only she out of all his Wives would call him that. It was like Gu Changge belonged to her only when she called him Young Master.
“You rarely asked us how we’d been doing in the past, Young Master. I was naturally surprised when you suddenly asked me that question.” Yin Mei muttered while pressing her head against his chest.
Gu Changge smiled helplessly. He knew he was in the wrong and she had every right to be displeased. In the past, he wasn’t concerned about these matters. He rarely asked about the affairs of the people closest to him, let alone cared for them.
“Don’t be mad, Young Master. I’m just saying. I’m not displeased with you. I know you have important things to do and it’s understandable that you sometimes neglect us.” When Yin Mei saw that Gu Changge had fallen silent, she quickly explained it to him. She was worried that Gu Changge would be angry and blame her for not being mature and not understanding him.
Upon seeing how flustered she was, Gu Changge smiled helplessly and held her tighter. Then, he said gently, “You don’t have to be so cautious in front of me. Aren’t we already y married? Why are you still so formal with me, then?”
Yin Mei’s eyes widened when she heard that. She stared at Gu Changge, feeling aggrieved. “But… I’m worried that you’ll ditch me one day. When I’m no longer useful, you’ll toss me away like I’m a piece of dirty cloth. I always wanted to be useful to you. That has never changed. But, I’ve been feeling that I’m too weak, that I can’t catch up to you. Regardless of how hard I cultivate, you’re always so far ahead of me.”
“Some time ago, I kept having a nightmare in which my identity was exposed by Ye Ling when I was still in the Celestial Ancient Continent back then. He wanted to kill me, but you just watched indifferently from a distance. Regardless of how I called out to you, you had no intention of saving me.”
“That was just a dream. Ye Ling is dead, and I’ve never left you,” Gu Changge said softly. He had no idea why Yin Mei would have that nightmare.
The incident happened many years ago, but she still remembered the details vividly. At that time, he did not immediately save Yin Mei. He only showed up when she was in a perilous situation and about to self-explode herself.
That was because he did not believe her. He wanted to know what she would do when she was in danger and whether she would expose him, the mastermind behind the scenes.
After giving it some thought, he realised that the incident had become an issue that had been weighing on her mind. She had that kind of nightmare because she was timid and terrified. The reason for the way she felt was that she was too weak.
She was not gifted when it came to cultivation, and she was not interested in becoming a powerful cultivator either.
“Ye Ling is dead, but I don’t know if similar people will show up in the future. It’s all because I’m useless. I’m not powerful enough to assist you. Instead, I’ve become a burden to you and brought you a lot of trouble.” Yin Mei’s clear eyes dimmed. She had no idea what to do.
Over the years, the Heavenslayers Alliance had been developing according to plan, so she did not have many things to handle. Therefore, she spent most of her time cultivating, which she was not interested in back then.
She knew that she was not as talented as the others. Regardless of how hard she worked, her progress would still be slow. Therefore, she always pushed herself to work harder.
She was only in the Immortal Realm, which was truly far from the Dao Realm. Only when she ascended to the Dao Realm would she have a chance to catch up to Gu Changge.
Now, she was as powerful as an average Immortal King, but she was still some distance away from the Immortal King Realm.
After that, there would be the Quasi-Immortal Emperor Realm and the Immortal Emperor Realm. Then, it would be the Dao Realm, which was even harder to achieve. She felt immensely pressured for this reason. Whenever she thought about this, she felt like she was suffocating.
She should have been resigned to her fate. Talent and aptitude were predetermined. Although there were countless resources in the Divine Empire for her to use and an inexhaustible amount of Fortuity for her to utilise, it would not change her future achievements.
“You don’t have to consider all these, nor do you have to worry. I no longer need you to bring me any benefits or values.”
Gu Changge shook his head and spoke in a calm voice. “I’m truly happy that all of you can stay by my side. When I think about it in the future, I’ll know I’m not alone. The rest is not important to me.”
Upon finishing his words, he extended a finger and landed it between her brows.
Yin Mei was moved by his words when she suddenly felt a blurry and ancient light dot appearing in the depths of her Knowledge Sea. It was a seed that carried an immense aura and contained many abstrusities of the world.
“What’s that?” Her eyes widened in disbelief. She could feel the tremendous energy within the seed. It was as though it would sprout in the depths of Chaos and turn into a divine tree at any moment to absorb the five elements and the energy of the Great Dao.
Her cultivation was going through a transformation following the seed’s appearance.
She could even hear the bottleneck which had bothered her for so long breaking apart.
Suddenly, in the depths of the Divine Empire, dark clouds started gathering in the usually cloudless sky. Bolts of lightning flashed across the sky as though a calamity was about to descend.
“It’s my Immortal King Tribulation!?” Yin Mei exclaimed, not ready to get through the Tribulation.
“Get lost!” Gu Changge suddenly shouted, then the Tribulation Clouds dissipated and the sky was clear again. Wisps of clean energy and fragments of the Heavenly Dao streamed towards Yin Mei.
Her skin became translucent and started exuding the fragrance of lotus roots. At that moment, she could feel the seed sprouting from the ground in her Knowledge Sea.
“You can regard it as a Dao Seed. I had intended to give the seeds to all of you when you reached the end of the Immortal Realm and were about to ascend to the Dao Realm. That’s because you’ll only be able to nurture the seeds by then.
“But, now that I’ve refined the World Sphere, it continuously produces the nutrients needed for growing the Dao Seeds. And in the Divine Empire, these Dao Seeds will keep growing every second, and your cultivation will keep improving because of the nutrients.”
Gu Changge briefly explained to her the benefits of Dao Seeds.
However, he did not explain the background of the World Sphere, for it was complicated and she did not understand such matters.
Yin Mei was startled. Although she did not get much of what he had said, she understood that Dao Seeds were a shortcut to improving their cultivation that he had prepared for them.
He had expected this day to come and made some preparations.
One had to know that countless cultivators dreamt of having this shortcut, but it was now presented to her just like this.
Anyone would be startled and did not know what to do.
Although Gu Changge had made it sound simple, she knew it must be hard to refine Dao Seeds and the World Sphere.
There was no free lunch in the world. There was a price to pay.
Yin Mei still had not come to her senses when many figures arrived at the hall.
“Well, it seems that we’re late.”
A playful laugh was heard. Wang Zijin entered the hall in light steps while wearing a silver blouse. There was a white scarf around her neck, and she was holding a fan in her hand. She looked like a Noble from medieval era.
Behind her were many others like: Gu Nanshan, the Drunken Sword Immortal, Ming, and more.
These were the high-ranking officials when the Heavenslayers Alliance was founded in the Prosperous Dao True World, and they were still influential now.
“Greetings, Alliance Leader.”
Those like Drunken Sword Immortal, Ming, and Ao Di saluted Gu Changge while looking at him with reverence.
Gu Changge nodded, and Yin Mei promptly left his embrace and stood beside him.
“It seems that all of you have become more powerful over the years.” Gu Changge swept a glance over people like Gu Nanshan and Ming.
Then, he looked at the rest. Some of them used to be resentful of him like Cen Shuang from the City of No Return. There were also ancient Clans from the Celestial Ancient Continent, and several beings who came from other Realms.
There were also Queen Lunar and King Luo from the Immortal Domain. The woman in the Quasi-Immortal Emperor Realm who had walked along the Sea of universes with Gu Changge back then was also there.
Anyway, after the Heavenslayers Alliance was established and they went against the enemies together, these parties started resolving the feuds between them and they could coexist peacefully now.
The existence of the Heavenslayers Alliance could restrict different parties. No one dared to make a scene in the Prosperous Dao True World, let alone shatter the peace. Even if they were resentful of each other, they had to put aside their differences and abide by the rules of the Heavenslayers Alliance.
Naturally, the situation was good for the developments of the Prosperous Dao True World. Many talented youths would be born every year and the Fortuities of different Forces had risen.
Every generation would surpass that of the old.
The other leaders, Sect Masters or Patriarchs, arrived at the hall upon learning of Gu Changge’s return. Some of them were from the same generation as Gu Changge.
Now that Gu Changge had returned to the Prosperous Dao True World, a myriad of emotions such as reverence, fear, and fervour rose within them.
Regardless, Gu Changge had a bad reputation in the Prosperous Dao True World. Although he had founded the Heavenslayers Alliance and led everyone to fend off the enemies to protect this True World, he was still known as the Demon Lord. They could not forget the fact that he had slaughtered so many people, and fooled the entire Upper Realm.
Some were respectful of Gu Changge but some were fearful of him.
“All of you are still afraid of me after so many years.” Gu Changge smiled faintly while looking at the people in the hall. Then, he waved his hand to motion for them to leave.
He had no interest in seeing these people. They were merely an eyesore to him. He only made Gu Nanshan, Ming, and several others stay.
It was alright to tell them some information about the Immortal Spirit Civilisation and Primary Hope Civilisation. They were Dao Realm experts, so they had a right to know.
That day, Gu Nanshan and the others had a long talk with Gu Changge. In fact, Gu Nanshan was aware of the affairs in the outside world. He was not like Ming and Drunken Sword Immortal, who were pure natives of the Prosperous Dao True World, so he had a better understanding of the Boundless Expanse.
Ming and Drunken Sword Immortal longed to see for themselves the magnificence of the Boundless Expanse. However, they knew their limits. They were unrivalled in the Prosperous Dao True World, but once they left for the Boundless Expanse, they might not even be able to protect themselves. Therefore, they had hesitated and struggled deep within for several moments before deciding to stay in the Prosperous Dao True World.
The current Prosperous Dao True World was not inferior to other Civilisations or True Worlds in the Boundless Expanse.
On the other hand, Gu Nanshan had no interest in venturing into the Boundless Expanse. He just wanted to stay in the Prosperous Dao True World. He would not leave unless there was a catastrophe.
Gu Changge would not persuade them to leave either. He had only brought it up because they were friends.
Gu Nanshan wanted to know more about his achievements in the Boundless Expanse, though. Nevertheless, Gu Changge had no intention of talking about it, so he soon told them to leave.
He knew that Gu Nanshan was more powerful than he seemed, so he wasn’t surprised that Gu Nanshan had chosen to stay in the Prosperous Dao True World.
That night, Yin Mei was curious and Wang Zijin kept pestering Gu Changge, which was giving him a headache. Left with no choice, he could only tell them stories about his more interesting experiences in the Boundless Expanse.
The two of them were curious because they had never come into contact with the Boundless Expanse before. Wang Zijin was tempted, saying that she knew Gu Changge must have gone out to become a ‘trailblazer’, to set a path forward for them.
Yin Mei was puzzled by what the other woman had said.
She felt that there was a huge gap between the two of them. Sometimes, it would take her several moments to understand what Wang Zijin had said.
Gu Changge was used to it, though.
Wang Zijin was a Variable, and a Transmigrator, after all. She might pretend to be demure and elegant in front of others, but she was like a cheerful deer which trotted across the forest in front of him. Sometimes, he did not understand her bizarre ideas either.
Although Wang Zijin had spent more effort cultivating over the years, she had spent most of her time wandering around. Still, her progress was quick as she was now in the Quasi-Immortal Emperor Realm.
She reckoned that if she was lucky to come across a huge opportunity, she would ascend to the Immortal Emperor Realm sooner, saving her millions of years.
In the past, Yin Mei would be envious of this kind of aptitude and luck. But now, even a huge opportunity was not comparable to the Dao Seeds that Gu Changge had prepared for them.
