After Chu Heng told all of them to retreat, he waved his hand and a spear with a red tassel appeared. He held it tightly.
The weapon was surrounded by the fragments of Ancestral Dao Realm Principles.
As he swept his spear across the air, many dark beings instantly died. An area empty of enemies was soon formed.
The other dark beings soon became wary of him. They chose to retreat instead of clashing with him head-on.
Chu Heng used to be the best general in Land of Celestial Suffering. His attack was so powerful that it was as though a mountain had descended upon his enemies. It was such a rapid attack that a dark giant, who could not flee in time, fell apart in front of Chu Heng.
“Gu Li…” several other dark beings exclaimed, shocked by Chu Heng’s power.
A black mist exuded from the shattered dark giant. His broken limbs were quickly reassembled. The thick black mist engulfed the dark giant and healed him.
Chu Heng frowned with a solemn expression. He had killed countless people and encountered all sorts of enemies, but it was his first time coming across enemies like them who were so difficult to deal with. After the dark giant was destroyed by him, he could quickly be resurrected.
“So many dark beings have suddenly appeared in the Chaotic Spacetime Sea. If they manage to enter the Primary Hope Civilisation, it’ll be disastrous for everyone.” With a heavy heart, he wielded his spear and slaughtered his enemies while staying at the back of the people from the Heavenslayers Alliance.
The others would be doomed if they were to face the dark beings. Only he could deal with them.
*Boom!* A tremor was felt across the place. The Chaotic Spacetime Sea descended into turmoil again. Chu Heng violently clashed with the dark beings, looking like an Immortal War God.
A sacred light engulfed him and protected him from the Dark Concentrate.
“I’m surprised that an Ancestral Dao Realm expert has suddenly barged into this place.” An icy voice was heard coming from the black mist. A phantom-like figure suddenly appeared in front of the dark beings.
He was clad in black armour. His figure was tall and slender. He was not wearing a helmet and his eyes were green. Under his eyes were some green marks which covered his face. There was a pair of bony horns on his forehead that looked like withered tree branches. The wings behind him looked like they came from the depths of Nine Nethers. They were so massive that they seemed to cover the entire sky.
Chu Heng’s expression changed as he felt a horrifying pressure. The person quickly and easily grabbed his spear. His silvery arm looked like it was made from steel as his hand firmly grasped the spear.
“You’re strong, but you’re not a match for me. Why don’t you submit to the darkness and become one of us?” The person said impassively. There was no emotion behind his green eyes, which could make anyone tremble in fear.
“Dark beings like you are a menace to the Boundless Expanse. You bring all sorts of calamities to us. Don’t even dream of corrupting me, much less have me become one of you.” Chu Heng sneered, dismissing what the other party had said. He exerted more force on his arms as immense energy filled the spear. His power surged and he brought his spear out of the other party’s grip.
“That’s a shame.” The person was still dispassionate as always. He rapidly disappeared from his spot. His speed seemed to transcend time and space, which was inconceivable.
He extended his hand towards Chu Heng’s chest, intending to penetrate it and pull out his heart.
Chu Heng felt an eerie iciness washing over him. He quickly retreated and wielded his spear to ward it off. At the same time, violent fluctuations which could tear the universe apart burst.
The two of them disappeared in the blink of an eye. They seemed to appear in every chaotic Spacetime or every broken Spacetime Rift.
Endless Dao Abilities were thrown. Chaos dissipated as the two of them clashed. Even the Fragments of Spacetime turned into dust when their palms came into contact.
This situation did not last long, though. Chu Heng’s figure suddenly reappeared. He sprayed out a mouthful of blood and shuddered. Blood streamed down his spear and dropped into the void.
One of his arms had been blown off. His bones were covered in blood while some flesh still dangled from them, which was a horrifying sight. More terrifyingly, some Dark Concentrate had latched onto him.
“You’re more powerful than an average Ancestral Dao Realm expert, but you can’t stop us.”
In the distance, the person in black armour who carried some black mist reappeared. His hands were covered in blood and his eyes were emotionless. It seemed that he had not use much strength during the earlier fight.
Chu Heng donned a dark expression and his heart was heavy. He took a look at his broken left arm with a determined gaze. Then, he withstood the pain and spat out some Sword Qi to get rid of all the flesh which had been affected by the Dark Concentrate, preventing it from invading his body.
“Sir Wu Yang, since it is you how took action, this person is naturally not a match for you.” The other dark beings stood in the distance without interfering in this matter. They only waited respectfully there. It seemed that they had confidence in the being named Wu Yang.
“Since you’re an Ancestral Dao Realm expert who has gone through you Seventh Decay Tribulation, you must be one of the most powerful and authoritative people in the Boundless Expanse. I’m surprised that you’ve personally come all the way here. Tell me the purpose of your visit and I might spare your life…” Wu Yang stared fixedly at Chu Heng with his green eyes, intending to force him to reveal his intention.
But before he could finish his words, a deafening sound was suddenly heard.
A dazzling light was coming over from a distance. It looked like the first streak of Eternal Light after the creation of Heaven and Earth.
The entire Chaotic Spacetime Sea shivered. A dazzling arrow was coming at Chu Heng, surrounded by Fragments of Spacetime and Principles of Dao.
It was an ancient arrow that was as dark as ink. Sacred lights kept swirling around it. It was an arrow that could ward off evil spirits as it cast away the Dark Concentrate.
In the Floating Land, a figure had drawn her stringless bow and shot the arrow while standing atop a mountain.
“What was that?” Wu Yang was startled when he saw the arrow. He was puzzled. When he came to his senses, he hurriedly led the dark beings behind him to retreat. He seemed wary of the arrow.
Since Wu Yang had fallen into a dazed state, Chu Heng seized the chance and flew towards the Floating Land.
Although he had no idea who had saved him, he knew that he could not miss this opening. His life would be in danger if he stayed there.
“What was that?” In the Floating Land, Zhu Xuan looked at Ah Li in shock as she kept the bow.
He was astounded by the arrow she had cast which could force the dark beings to retreat. He did not expect that she could cast such an inconceivable attack.
“It’s supposed to be the Evil Dispelling Arrow I’ve read about in the ancient books. The arrows were famous during the Black Disaster Era because they were useful against the dark beings. When the Black Disaster Era was over, the remnants of the Black Disaster stopped at nothing to find and destroy all remaining Evil Dispelling Arrows. They had also destroyed the way to make the Evil Dispelling Arrows in the River of Time. Currently, no one knows how to make the Evil Dispelling Arrows. As such, every one of them is precious. When one is used, it’ll be lost forever.”
Beside Zhu Xuan, an authoritative old woman explained it to him in a small voice. She was shocked that Ah Li had shot that arrow.
“I didn’t expect her to have such an Exotic Treasure. I wonder how many arrows she has left?”
Zhu Xuan nodded. He was starting to believe that Ah Li would protect him.
“Such an Exotic Treasure is rare. Every one of them is precious. I’m afraid Lady Ah Li is only left with several arrows to be used during the most perilous situations.
“It’s surprising that she would use the arrow in this place to protect the people from the outside world…”
The old woman shook her head with a conflicted gaze.
Many ancient battleships had stopped outside the Floating Land. When members of the Heavenslayers Alliance arrived, they were blocked out of the light screen.
The earlier scene was astonishing to the experts of the Heavenslayers Alliance.
When they came to their senses, they were grateful. If not for the arrow, Chu Heng could not have gotten rid of those dark beings.
“We’re from the Heavenslayers Alliance of the Primary Hope Civilisation. We’re here to look for a particular person as per the Alliance Leader’s order. We have no ill intentions…” Zhuo Fengxie emerged from an ancient battleship and cupped his fists at the people on the other end of the light screen. Then, he told them who they were.
He was the Prime Ancestor of the Zhuo Clan, who had lives for eons. He was naturally sharp. As such, he never told them about their true intentions. Moreover, in his opinion, since the dark beings had come to attack, the people of the Floating Land must have been trapped. So, the other party would try to avoid get into a conflict with them.
“The Primary Hope Civilisation?”
The people of the Floating Land were surprised upon hearing that. Ling Yuling had visited this place on many occasions. She had said that she was the Founder of the Imperial Celestial Palace in the Primary Hope Civilisation. However, they had never heard of the Heavenslayers Alliance before. Ling Yuling mostly spoke to Nan Qing and rarely brought up anything about the Primary Hope Civilisation.
Just as the residents of the Floating Land were considering how to respond to the people of the Heavenslayers Alliance, a bright red light suddenly came over and landed. She was the person in charge of the Shangguan Family, Shangguan Qing.
“All of you can come in. I’ve gotten permission from Fairy Qing.”
She was holding a translucent jade, which shot forward and penetrated the light screen that connected Heaven and Earth. A massive portal appeared and it allowed members of the Heavenslayers Alliance to enter.
These ancient battleships quickly passed through the portal.
“Many thanks.” Zhuo Fengxie was elated and cupped his fists to thank them. Then, he entered the place along with several people who were supporting Chu Heng.
The people of the Floating Land respected Chu Heng, who had stayed at the back of everyone to deal with the dark beings. It was because they were also facing the same situation.
The light screen could not protect them for long. When the time came, the dark beings would return, and Nan Qing would stay here to stall for time.
“Thanks for saving my life earlier.” Although Chu Heng’s arm was gone, and he was badly injured, he was still energetic.
The Dark Concentrate did not have enough time to invade his body. As his severed arm was healing, he saluted Ah Li from a distance.
Ah Li remained seated cross-legged on the mountain and did not respond to him.
On one of the battleships, Old Man Sai Ya, who had never shown up the entire time, looked doubtfully at Ah Li in the distance.
He was not sure if it was just his eyes misleading him, but he felt uncomfortable with the aura she was exuding. He was wary of her.
Before coming to the Chaotic Spacetime Sea, he had detected the aura of the Heaven Legion. He was also aware that dark beings had shown up in the Chaotic Spacetime Sea. However, he was surprised that there were so many of them. One of them could even easily defeat Chu Heng.
Old Man Sai Ya had chosen not to make a move because he was worried his aura would be detected by the Heaven Legion, and the fact that he was from the Eight Legions would be exposed.
[The Heaven Legion must have sent so many dark beings to this place because the residents of the Floating Land are special. Are they the Descendants of some special Clan?] He frowned and fell into his thoughts.
He did not dare to ask Gu Changge too many questions, he was worried he might accidentally delve into his plans. It was not always a good thing to know more, especially in regards to the Master.
The residents of the Floating Land were curious about the members of the Heavenslayers Alliance.
Nan Qing had stayed in the Holy Ancestor Mountain the entire time. As such, the people in charge of the Major Families had to speak to Zhuo Fengxie and the others while Zhu Xuan and the others waited and observed them.
When Zhuo Fengxie and the others learned that the light screen could only last for two more days, they were flabbergasted. Many turned pale, finding it hard to accept.
So many dark beings were outside, and there was one being that even Chu Heng could not defeat.
Once the light screen fell apart, they would be doomed.
Although these people from the Heavenslayers Alliance had experienced countless wars and were not afraid of death, they could not deal with the countless dark beings outside.
Also, the dark beings had a strange ability, that was not the most frightening part. If they were corrupted by the Dark Concentrate, they would also turn into dark beings.
In other words, they would become weaker while the other party grew stronger. They didn’t have a way to go against the enemies.
Members of the Heavenslayers Alliance felt despondent. There was no hope of survival from this.
On the other hand, the people of the Floating Land were had accepted their fate at this point. Life and death no longer mattered to them. They were relieved upon learning that Ling Yuling and the Heavenslayers Alliance were on good terms.
Later, the people in charge of the Major Families informed Zhuo Fengxie and the others about their plan.
Before the light screen dissipated, Nan Qing, the Holy Ancestor’s Daughter, would come up with a way to send all of them away. Perhaps the people of the Heavenslayers Alliance could leave with them by then.
Zhuo Fengxie and the others were shocked. They were respectful of Nan Qing when they learned that she was ready to sacrifice herself just to stall for time.
“The person that the Alliance Leader is looking for must be Fairy Qing. Is it possible for us to meet her?” Although Chu Heng had never seen Nan Qing before, he could tell that the people of the Floating Land respected her.
“Fairy Qing is supposedly making some preparations.” Shangguan Qing shook her head with a conflicted gaze. She was trying her best to conceal her sorrow.
“When I went to the Holy Ancestor Mountain earlier, I didn’t get to see Fairy Qing. I only heard her tired voice outside the Supreme Cave.” Zhuo Fengxie and Chu Heng exchanged glances. They were in a dilemma.
Gu Changge had told them to capture the culprit who had ruined the Primary Hope Covenant. From the looks of it, Nan Qing was the prime suspect. However, how were they going to capture her when they could not even save themselves?
“Could the Alliance Leader be mistaken? Since Fairy Qing is willing to sacrifice herself for everyone, I don’t think she was the one who had secretly ruin the Primary Hope Covenant.”
“Perhaps the culprit is someone else.”
“However, Ling Yuling had only come into contact with Fairy Qing in the Floating Land.”
Many thoughts churned, but they could only put this matter aside for now.
If they could safely return to the Heavenslayers Alliance and explain this matter to Gu Changge, they believed he would understand and would not fault them.
The light screen outside the Floating Land dissipated more quickly than they had expected. They had estimated that the light screen would fall apart in three days, but it was starting to become thinner before that.
The merciless dark beings came over from the depths of the Chaotic Spacetime Sea like waves. They were more ferocious than the previous wave. There were so many of them that there did not seem to be an end to them.
The black mist filled every corner.
The people of the Floating Land had made their final preparations. They had brought all their belongings, the ashes of their relatives, and treasures with them as they stood on the ancient battleships along with those from the Heavenslayers Alliance.
They were determined and solemn while looking at the dark beings outside the light screen.
“The light screen is about to dissipate. Your last protective barrier is also going to disappear. Are all of you ready for death?”
The dark beings showed up outside the light screen and looked cruelly at them.
