Chapter 1104, A Clash
by SilavinTranslator: Silavin
“With that little strength, you dare throw your weight around wherever you please?” Facing that howling, ferocious offensive, Qin Yichen’s expression remained completely flat. A voice, neither cold nor warm, drifted from his lips as though he were passing idle commentary on the weather.
“Still mouthing off when death is at your doorstep!”
The Sky Lion expert facing Qin Yichen let out a cold snort. A vicious gleam flickered in his eyes. His arm shuddered, and that lion-clawed hand tore straight through the air, lunging for Qin Yichen’s throat.
Judging by his action, he was intending to wrench Qin Yichen’s neck clean off.
“Watch out!” Witnessing this, Mei Ler could not help but cry out in alarm.
Even the guards behind her, powerful as they were, could only retreat from such an attack and bide their time. Yet now, with Qin Yichen’s escape route cut off, there was nowhere left to fall back to.
“Trying to show off!? *Hmph!* What an ignorant brat!” Shi Weixi also let out a cold snort, and the savage curve at the corner of his mouth deepened.
On this continent, the strong ruled, and that was simply how things worked. So long as one had the bigger fist, what consequence could they not bear?
In this merciless world, there was simply no place for compassion or mercy.
That lion-clawed hand expanded rapidly in Qin Yichen’s pupils. It had not yet arrived, yet already the fierce gale it drove ahead of it was stinging his cheeks raw.
And just as that lion claw was about to rake across him, Qin Yichen’s right fist clenched hard, a cold snort escaping him. The muscles along his right arm swelled abruptly, veins like earthworms spreading across the surface, beneath them a force so terrible it bordered on the absurd.
*Boom!*
Then Qin Yichen drove a fist straight forward, pulling back not a single inch, slamming head-on into that oncoming lion claw without the slightest hesitation.
“Hmph!”
Seeing him still so absurdly bent on resistance, the Sky Lion snorted coldly, his arm trembling as he shifted from claw to open palm, sending a palm strike crashing at the latter with terrifying force.
*Bang!*
In barely an instant, fist and palm collided. A visible ripple of force, like a storm given sudden form, swept outward from the point where the two struck each other.
*Crack!*
Almost simultaneously, the piercing sound of a bone snapping rang out.
Before anyone could react, that previously ferocious Sky Lion carved a rather embarrassing arc through the air and went flying backwards. Droplets of dark red blood scattered in his wake.
By the time the onlookers caught a clear look, every pair of eyes had contracted sharply.
Because the arm this Sky Lion had used to clash head-on with Qin Yichen was now visibly, grotesquely twisted, a pale white bone having punctured straight through his skin and jutting out from his forearm. The sight was, to put it charitably, rather horrific.
*Bang!*
Before the onlookers could even draw breath in amazement, another great crash rang out. Without anyone managing to follow the movement, the Sky Lion who had sealed off Qin Yichen’s retreat from behind was likewise sent flying.
By the time he steadied himself, his aura had gone limp and wan. He had evidently taken no small injury.
Watching this scene, the expressions of those present were filled entirely with stunned disbelief.
In no more than two breaths, two Early Stage Martial Ancestors had been defeated in succession.
The gazes that turned toward Qin Yichen were dense with wariness. This fellow’s aura was plainly that of Early Stage Martial Ancestor, yet why had experts of the same level been defeated so swiftly? And more unsettlingly, they had the distinct feeling that the latter had not yet struck with his full strength.
In the distance, Shi Weixi’s savage grin had stiffened on his face, his eyes flooding with pure disbelief.
“How is this possible?” Shi Weixi took two involuntary steps backward, muttering to himself in a voice that sounded rather like a man talking in his sleep.
“He actually possesses such strength!?” Further away, deep shock had settled into Mei Ler’s beautiful eyes.
The Charming Fox Race was renowned for their beauty, but their combat strength was, to speak plainly, quite pitiful. A Martial Ancestor was already considered an Elder within their Race.
And this young man before her, how old was he? Yet in barely a moment, with speed that left no time to cover one’s ears, he had defeated two Early Stage Martial Ancestors of the Sky Lion Race in swift succession.
“This is bad…” All at once, Mei Ler’s pupils contracted. She knew the Sky Lion Race well.
This display of Qin Yichen’s, rather than intimidating Shi Weixi, would very likely only infuriate him further.
“Destroy that brat!” And indeed, before Mei Ler had even managed to open her mouth in warning, Shi Weixi’s furious roar had already thundered through the entire space.
*Whoosh! Whoosh!*
No sooner had Shi Weixi’s voice fallen than the Sky Lions behind him surged forward, encircling Qin Yichen in layer upon layer.
Gazes carrying no good intentions whatsoever locked themselves firmly onto Qin Yichen.
In their minds, those two who had fallen earlier had simply been too careless. One moment’s inattention, and this brat who looked barely old enough to have grown a full head of hair had found a gap to exploit.
But now they had numbers on their side. So long as they stayed sharp, no matter how cunning this fellow’s methods were, he would not be slipping out of their grasp.
After all, however one chose to look at it, he was still only an Early Stage Martial Ancestor. Surely he could not actually turn the sky over?
“Everyone, are you truly going to just stand there and watch?”
At this point, Mei Ler’s rather cool voice rose up as well.
Yet beneath her words, the guards who had one by one been so gallant and eager to impress her on ordinary days now stood without a single one stepping forward.
“You all… fine! Fine! From this day forward, none of you need to follow me any longer!!” Witnessing this, Mei Ler was so incensed that her slender figure trembled slightly, her striking curves made all the more conspicuous by her agitation.
Not that anyone present was in the mood to appreciate that particular spectacle.
Two Sky Lions had been injured, and Shi Weixi was currently sitting squarely atop his own rage. It was rather obvious that once he had dealt with that young wretch, it would be Mei Ler’s turn.
Much as they admired Mei Ler, these guards were not hotheaded fools. They had no desire to draw the attention of the Sky Lion Race over this matter.
The consequences of that were something none of them wished to shoulder.
“Miss Mei Ler, we are sorry!”
“We hope Miss Mei Ler does not take offence. Lord Shi is not someone we can afford to provoke.”
Under Mei Ler’s furious rebuke, a few of the guards exchanged an awkward cupped-fist salute with her, then promptly dived into the forest, clearly unwilling to be caught in the crossfire.
Once one took the lead, the rest needed only a glance at each other. In no more than a moment, every last one had departed without a trace.
When all was said and done, theirs was a relationship built purely on monetary interest. There was no call to throw their lives away here for the sake of beauty they merely coveted from afar.
Watching those guards, who on ordinary days had competed to fawn over her, now departed as though she were a complete stranger, Mei Ler’s lovely face had gone entirely cold and bleak.
This was a scene her people had witnessed countless times before.
