Chapter 1101, A Temporary Departure
by SilavinTranslator: Silavin
Between the Elf Race and the Human Race, there lay countless other Races. If Little Ling’er were left among the Elf Race, then for Father and Daughter to meet again in the future, it would truly be as difficult as ascending to the Heavens.
Among the younger generation of the Human Race, he was still considered strong. However, if one wished to rely on such strength to safely traverse so many different Races, that was no different from wishful thinking.
He could not always call upon the Old Ancestor of the Lunar Palace, a powerhouse of that calibre, to escort him every single time he wished to see Little Ling’er, could he?
And as for refusing the Pavilion King’s request, there was a measure of anxiety in Qin Yichen’s heart as well.
It was not that he feared the Pavilion King would abuse his position to pressure him, forcibly keeping them here. Given the latter’s manners and noble bearing, it seemed unlikely he would do such a thing.
It was simply that, from the unexpected incident that had occurred on his previous journey to Lunar Palace, Qin Yichen remained deeply on guard.
Beneath the surface of the Human Race, dark currents surged and churned! That previous failure would certainly not cause that traitor to simply give up. Before that shadowy figure was dragged out into the open, it seemed likely that, on his path of growth in the days ahead, such incidents would be far from rare.
And what Qin Yichen worried about most were the Family members and friends remaining in Saints Heavenly City!
Although on the surface, there appeared to be no place safer than Saints Heavenly City within the Human Race, there was a traitorous mastermind who had set their sights on Qin Yichen. Furthermore, this mastermind held no small standing among the Human Race. If he repeatedly failed to get his hands on Qin Yichen, it was entirely possible he might secretly target Qin Yichen’s Family and friends instead!
“Ling’er, stay here for now.” After a moment of quiet deliberation, Qin Yichen crouched down, leaning close beside Little Ling’er, and softly said.
“Daddy, are you saying Little Ling’er is a bother?” Upon hearing those words, a mist immediately gathered in Little Ling’er’s eyes, and a sound that could break one’s heart, laced with a choked quality, passed from her small lips.
“Silly girl, how could I ever find you a bother.” When those words reached him, Qin Yichen’s heart softened, and he nearly scooped Little Ling’er up and left with her then and there. However, when the unknown dangers came to mind, he still suppressed the reluctance within his heart and spoke gently, “If Little Ling’er stays here and grows strong, then in the future she can help Daddy protect your Mother. Wouldn’t that be great?”
Compared to the Human Race, with its surging undercurrents of danger, the Elf Race was clearly far safer.
Moreover, if Little Ling’er truly was a Night Elf, then for her, remaining here to cultivate would certainly allow her to grow at a pace far swifter than anything the Human Race could offer.
Upon hearing Qin Yichen’s words, the mist in Little Ling’er’s eyes evaporated entirely. She could sense his reluctance to part with her, and immediately nodded her head, her expression somewhere between understanding and not quite grasping it all.
“Little one, staying here may well require a rather long time. And to grow strong enough to protect one’s loved ones, that process is quite painful, you know. Are you certain?” The Pavilion King gazed at Little Ling’er’s expression and spoke.
Beneath the gaze of many eyes, Little Ling’er gave a firm nod. In those pitch-black eyes of hers, there was nothing but resolution.
“Very well!” Seeing Little Ling’er’s bearing, the Pavilion King let out a great laugh, then turned abruptly. His voice, carrying a natural authority, rang out and filled the air.
“All Clansmen, heed my command. From this day forth, prepare the Array. Once Avril has emerged from secluded cultivation, the passage to the outside world shall be immediately sealed!”
“Yes!” Every high-ranking member of the Elf Race responded in a resounding chorus.
This Sealing Array had been left behind by successive Elf Queens throughout the ages. Once activated, the Elf Race would vanish completely from this continent of the Myriad Races.
And during the period in which the Array was active, neither foreign Races nor members of the Elf Race could pass in or out of its protected territory.
The moment those words fell, numerous Elves immediately set about busying themselves.
“My young friend, once our Sealing Array is activated, our people will be hidden from the world. Foreigners will no longer be able to enter, and we too cannot depart. If you wish to come and visit your Daughter, simply crush this token outside the Elf Forest, and I shall come to receive you.”
Watching his people dart off in every direction, beginning their busy work, the Pavilion King tossed out a token and spoke to Qin Yichen.
“In that case, this Junior shall take his leave first.”
“Little Ling’er, remember to listen to the Seniors here.”
Qin Yichen accepted the token with a nod, ruffled Little Ling’er’s hair, offered a few words of instruction, then slowly rose to his feet. With that, he lifted his gaze slightly, his eyes directed towards the distance.
“Young friend, allow me to see you out.” At that moment, Fiery swept over and called out softly to Qin Yichen.
“To all of you, by the time you appear once more before this world, the entire continent will tremble. This Qin looks forward greatly to meeting you all again!” Qin Yichen gave a nod, cupped his fists toward the Elf Queen and the others, and spoke.
He understood that the reason the Pavilion King was sealing them off was because he had sensed something unusual stirring. Moreover, the Night Elf, for the Elf Race, was surely entangled with many deeply hidden matters. Perhaps the entire Elf Race would see its strength surge enormously because of Little Ling’er!
“Safe travels, Sir Qin!” The Elf Queen gave a nod, and the many Elves behind her each gently inclined their bodies.
After exchanging a glance with Fiery, Qin Yichen drew a deep breath, and his figure shot straight towards the distance.
At that moment, he truly did not dare to look at Little Ling’er again, for he feared he would not have the heart to be firm, that he would be unable to leave Little Ling’er behind…
“Daddy, you absolutely must remember to come and see me.”
Little Ling’er waved her small hand with all her might at Qin Yichen’s retreating figure, a deep and lingering reluctance in her eyes. Yet, as though she were imagining a day when she would stand beside her Father and protect the ones she loved most, a resolute light rose once more upon that small and delicate face.
…
The Elf Forest.
One after another, silhouettes flitted through it, rushing towards the outside.
These figures would glance back from time to time at the depths of the Elf Forest, and upon their faces, there was no small measure of unwillingness.
They were merchants who had come from various Races.
Among these merchants, there was no shortage of those who had dealings particularly close with the Elf Race.
Yet, in the days prior, the Elf Race had suddenly issued a notice. All Foreigners, regardless of Race, as well as some experts who had paid a price to reside temporarily within the Elf Race’s territory, had all been ushered out.
This was something that had not occurred in tens of thousands of years. Faced with it, the many merchants and those experts, though their hearts were full of reluctance, had not a single thing they could do about it.
Among the crowd, there was one particular group. The experts within it were of varied appearances, clearly hired from various Races at considerable cost to act as protectors.
And at the very centre of this group moved a graceful, alluring figure, her face draped in a thin veil.
Though her features could not be made out, that striking silhouette alone was enough to draw the gazes of quite a few guard-powerhouses nearby, their eyes drifting over her again and again.
“Ha, is that not Miss Mei Ler? Did you not only just secure the qualification for a consulate residency within the Elf Race? How is it that you’ve been chased out along with the rest of us?”
As they walked, a mocking laugh suddenly rang out from behind this group.
