Chapter 1183, Heading for the Myriad Beasts War Domain
by SilavinTranslator: Silavin
Within the great hall of the City Lord’s manor, Mo Sheng appeared to have known all along that Qin Yichen would be coming. He had already been waiting within.
“Master, I am ready.”
After offering Mo Sheng a respectful bow, Qin Yichen said.
The Myriad Beasts War Domain was fraught with extreme peril. Although many Races would send their younger members there to be tempered, those who could ultimately survive and return were few.
Even so, every expert who had been forged through the brutal trials of the Myriad Beasts War Domain and managed to grow from it had, without exception, gone on to become a towering pillar capable of commanding their respective Force.
Gazing at this young man who stood before him without the slightest trace of fear on his face, Mo Sheng seemed to recall the brilliance of his own youth, and upon his face, there appeared a deep and irrepressible fondness.
To receive such an outstanding Disciple as death approached, it was more than enough to make up for many of his regrets.
“Good Disciple, your Master must caution you. Though in the open, no one would dare lay a hand on you, the moment you enter the Myriad Beasts War Domain, others will certainly discover your presence. At that point, those people will undoubtedly resort to every conceivable method to intercept and kill you there. The dangers within will be far greater than anything you encountered in the Silent Forest.”
After a brief deliberation, Mo Sheng still could not hold back and offered the reminder.
Because of the slaughter that had taken place in the Silent Forest, Qin Yichen had killed the beloved children or grandchildren of no small number of powerful figures.
It was only because of his identity as a member of a Divine Tier Race and the name of Mo Sheng that no one had dared to tear this veil of civility in public.
However, if he were to enter the Myriad Beasts War Domain and got discovered, it was easy to imagine that those powerful figures would unleash upon him a pursuit to the death that would know no end.
Furthermore, the Myriad Beasts War Domain was nothing like that first trial he had faced previously. Within it, there were no age restrictions!
“If there were no challenge to it, what would be the point of me going in?” Qin Yichen gave Mo Sheng a composed smile. It was entirely unlike the expression one might expect of someone about to face enormous danger. His demeanour was even somewhat carefree and unhurried, as though he were simply about to attend to some trivial matter of no consequence.
To be tempered through life and death was, after all, the swiftest means of advancing one’s strength.
Just as with Li Yuanba, the aura that emanated from his entire being and his rapidly advancing strength were inseparable from the blood-soaked battlefields he had passed through.
“I knew I had not misjudged you. Even so, if you feel you cannot hold on, head to one of the transfer points within and come out sooner rather than later.”
Mo Sheng nodded with satisfaction, and he offered this reminder.
Immediately after, he retrieved a bronze lamp from one side, and held it out towards Qin Yichen. “My good Disciple, this is a Soul Guiding Lamp. It can only be ignited by your own aura. So long as you ignite this lamp, I will be able to know your whereabouts at any moment. Even if you encounter danger, I will be able to learn your position at the first instant, and come to your aid.”
“Now, ignite it first.”
“A Soul Guiding Lamp?” A mild wariness stirred within Qin Yichen’s heart. He gazed at the soul lamp, and a sense of uncertain unease settled over his thoughts.
His original intention in becoming a Disciple had been to use this name and reputation as a means to move freely between the continent and the Human Race, making it more convenient for him to aid and rescue Humans.
And now, Mo Sheng was asking him to ignite the Soul Guiding Lamp, which meant that wherever he went, he would not be able to conceal it from Mo Sheng!
If it were discovered that he had appeared within the territory of the Saints Heavenly Manor, it would likely arouse Mo Sheng’s suspicions regarding him!
Once his identity as a Human gets revealed, with this Soul Guiding Lamp in Mo Sheng’s hands, there would be nowhere in the world for him to flee.
“Good Disciple, what is the matter?” Mo Sheng looked at Qin Yichen with a genial smile, as though mildly puzzled by his hesitation.
Soul Guiding Lamps were precious, though not exceptionally rare. People of distinguished status would often leave one with their own Race or with their Master.
Moreover, with this Soul Guiding Lamp in hand, the moment Qin Yichen emerged from the Myriad Beasts War Domain, he would be able to know immediately. Even if someone attempted to intercept Qin Yichen in secret, with him present, that outcome could be made absolutely certain.
“This Soul Guiding Lamp has effects that are similar to something within my Race.” Qin Yichen’s expression remained unchanged as he gave a light smile, and then, Spiritual Energy surged forth as he ignited it.
Hearing Qin Yichen’s words, Mo Sheng’s pupils contracted ever so slightly.
In other words, wherever he went on the continent, his own Race already knew his whereabouts at all times?
Mo Sheng also nodded at this, and after carefully putting away the Soul Guiding Lamp and offering a few more words of counsel, he gave his robe a light shake, extended his arm, and a withered finger traced a faint line across the space before him.
*Hmmm…*
As that gaunt and bony finger swept across it, the space there was like the tranquil surface of a lake into which a stone had been cast, sending ripple after ripple of undulation spreading outward.
A Space Rift, roughly a metre in size, emerged from within those ripples.
“Go. I shall await your return.”
Mo Sheng gestured towards Qin Yichen with a gaze full of warmth and care.
The latter offered him a respectful bow, then with a single movement of his form, he swept into the space rift.
With his entry, the ripples within the space gradually diminished, and that Space Rift slowly disappeared as well.
And in the very instant that Space Rift vanished, a powerful and imposing silhouette appeared within the hall without any warning.
“Mo Sheng, you really are too impatient.”
This silhouette was none other than the ruler of the Myriad Beasts Domain, the City Lord of Myriad Beasts City, Chen Xun!
“This matter still requires careful deliberation.”
Mo Sheng appeared not in the least surprised by Chen Xun’s sudden appearance. The warmth and affection that had been on his face a moment before was now nowhere to be seen, replaced instead by an expression of grave solemnity.
“Oh? Even if that boy is sharp, is there any chance he can actually slip free of your grasp?”
Chen Xun gave a faint smile.
“Within his Race, they also possess something like a Soul Guiding Lamp.” Mo Sheng shook his head, and his tone was heavy with gravity.
Hearing this, the colour of Chen Xun’s face shifted sharply.
“Wait until he breaks through to the Saint Realm, then we shall find another way. But absolutely not within the Myriad Beasts Domain, ”
Chen Xun deliberated for a brief moment, and at last, his own expression settled into one of deep solemnity.
…
This was a vast and boundless expanse. The sky above was a rich and vivid blue, with white clouds drifting lazily across it. It was a scene of striking beauty.
Gazing into the distance, however, one could discern that this was a landscape of ruins, as though it had been the site of countless battles fought across ages.
Pervading the entire expanse was a bloody and savage aura that stood in stark contrast to the beauty of the sky above.
In the sky above, flocks of flying Demonic Beasts swept past, their piercing cries echoing throughout the land.
Further away, one could occasionally glimpse enormous Demonic Beasts locked in battle with powerful experts, the thunderous roars of that struggle carrying across the distance.
This place was like an endless battlefield, and everywhere one looked bore the marks of savage and merciless slaughter.
And at this very moment, somewhere within that sky, a ripple of spatial turbulence surged and it ripped.
Immediately after, above ruins, a Space Rift violently tore open, and from within it, a figure burst outward like a shooting star, landing upon a massive boulder with the ruins.
