Chapter 1126, Peak Earth Grade Spiritual Energy
by SilavinTranslator: Silavin
“What? Have you been caught out and are now throwing a tantrum?”
As one might have predicted, the moment Qin Yichen spoke those provocative words, the faces of the young Medicine Race members darkened considerably.
To be openly challenged to a Spiritual Energy contest in front of countless onlookers, this transgressed against their most sacred sensibility. To these proud young men, this was intolerable.
“Boy, ordinarily not just anyone qualifies to compete with us. But, your sheer audacity has made it quite impossible for me to resist giving you a thorough lesson…”
Among the five or six young men, the one whose Spiritual Energy emanated at Peak Earth Grade gave a cold smile, stepped directly onto the platform where Qin Yichen stood, halted a short distance in front of him, and spoke in a tone that carried a distinct chill.
“Right here, is it?”
To the other man’s words, laden as they were with unmistakable threat, Qin Yichen appeared entirely unaware. He cast a casual glance left and right, and replied with perfect indifference.
That utterly unbothered manner only further stoked the fury simmering in the young Medicine Race members.
“Boy, right here will do perfectly well to finish you!”
Across from Qin Yichen, the young man let an immense, surging wave of Spirtual Energy begin to radiate from his person.
That posture seemed to treat the Myriad Beasts City’s rules as if they simply did not exist.
It was at this moment that Qin Yichen had something of a realisation. It appeared the Medicine Race’s standing was genuinely high to the extreme. Within the territory of the Medicine Market, a Spiritual Energy contest was, in all likelihood, a deliberate loophole in the rules that the Myriad Beasts City had left specifically for the Medicine Race.
“Is that so?”
Qin Yichen chuckled softly. If this could be settled here, it would save him the inconvenience of a trip to the Blood Rock Platform.
Watching that smile, the vast majority of onlookers found a certain pity surfacing in their gazes.
Did this fellow truly not understand what he was about to face? How could he still be smiling at a moment like this?
Even Li Shan and the others found their expressions becoming rather strained.
Qin Yichen had demonstrated absolute physical power, crushing Li Shan with ease. That much was beyond dispute. But a Spiritual Energy contest had nothing whatsoever to do with the physical body.
And conventionally speaking, the stronger one’s physical body, the lower one’s natural aptitude in Spiritual Energy. Races like those standing behind Li Shan and Xiong Xiong boasted extraordinarily powerful bodies, yet Spiritual Energy was their greatest weakness. Within their Races, there were virtually no one who focused on it.
Qin Yichen’s physical constitution was such that even Li Shan could not measure up to him. Could it truly be that he also possessed meaningful attainment in Spiritual Energy?
That was very nearly impossible.
And so, Li Shan and the others genuinely could not make sense of what Qin Yichen was doing.
Yet with countless spectators on every side, and the Medicine Race young man already upon the platform, Qin Yichen had, in effect, mounted a tiger and found it rather difficult to dismount.
“Boy, since you wish to be famous, I shall grant you that wish today!”
The young man across from Qin Yichen fixed him with an icy stare, a bone-deep chill flickering in the depths of his eyes.
And indeed, to have the audacity to challenge a Medicine Race expert in Spiritual Energy alone was enough to make one’s name resound across the land. None could recall how many years it had been since anyone had dared provoke the Medicine Race.
“But you will pay a steep price for it.” A cold harrumph then issued from the young man’s lips, the sound itself suffused with a certain shivering resonance, aimed directly at Qin Yichen like a spear of sound.
*Hmm!*
That single technique immediately caused countless onlookers to feel their pupils contract slightly. Even though the sound was not aimed at them, the residual waves alone sent each person’s mind swaying, and the cultivators throughout the crowd were left privately shaken. To think the Medicine Race had refined their Spiritual Energy to such a frightening degree of control.
One by one, people bit down lightly on the tip of their tongue, gathered their minds at once, and took great care not to be affected.
Beneath that wave of sound, the robes on Qin Yichen’s body billowed sharply. Standing directly in its path as he was, the impact he received was undeniably formidable.
“Finished off just like that? Rather unsatisfying, isn’t it?”
“Obviously. That’s the Medicine Race. Why don’t you go up and try?”
Qin Yichen’s body stood perfectly motionless. A ripple of hushed whispers immediately began spreading outward from the crowd on all sides.
Perhaps, in the eyes of most onlookers, Qin Yichen had already had his Divine Sense shattered by that wave of sound just moments ago, and had lost consciousness.
At this moment, Xiang Linzi and the others, who had placed Mei Ler safely behind themselves, also bore expressions of gravity. Standing relatively near, they had felt the brunt of the impact themselves.
Equally, they understood that Qin Yichen, who had borne the full force of that attack head-on, had experienced an impact of a truly frightening magnitude.
That said, in their minds, even if the impact had been extraordinarily severe, Qin Yichen, with his sharp mind, should at least be able to preserve his consciousness, right?
“Huh?”
At this point, the young Medicine Race members watching from below the platform exchanged glances, a trace of surprise flickering across their eyes.
Their Spiritual Energy was particularly acute, and they alone perceived clearly what had just transpired. The sonic wave had appeared fearsome, yet it had done Qin Yichen no meaningful harm whatsoever.
For beneath that crashing, wave-like assault, Qin Yichen had been like a reef standing in a gale. The Spiritual Energy contained within the sound had slid cleanly off both sides of him, causing him no injury at all.
“One has to admit, you do have a few tricks up your sleeve. The young Medicine Race man across from Qin Yichen gave a cold snort, a flicker of surprise crossing his gaze.
“What? He’s unharmed?”
Those words immediately drew looks of astonishment from the numerous onlookers.
“But, a parlour trick of this sort is hardly worth mentioning in front of me.”
“Ahhhh!”
With a low, resonant shout, the entire space seemed to fill with a sudden chill, and an immense, sweeping wave of energy surged into existence throughout the surrounding air.
“Heavens… what terrifying Spiritual Energy. Peak Earth Grade, at the very least!”
“That level of Spiritual Energy in our Race belongs only to the Elders responsible for refining Pills!”
“Worthy of the Medicine Race. Even someone who steps out at random is this powerful.”
Sensing that wave, the expressions of a great many onlookers tightened slightly, and the gazes they directed at the young Medicine Race man gained several more shades of reverence.
“Heh…”
Beneath that immense, crashing wave, Qin Yichen’s face retained not the faintest trace of alarm. Indeed, the corner of his mouth curled in a cold smile.
Peak Earth Grade Spiritual Energy? Placed within an ordinary Sacred Land of the Human Race, that was enough to carve out a perfectly respectable standing. Moreover, the young man before him appeared genuinely youthful. Unless something entirely unexpected occurred, he would one day break through to Heaven Grade without question.
Heaven Grade, even within a Human Race Sacred Land, that was enough to claim a seat in the Pill Hall.
No wonder the Medicine Race was coveted by every Race under the Heavens. This level of Spiritual Energy was, in truth, rather alarming.
And yet…
This measure of Spiritual Energy was, in the face of Qin Yichen, simply not enough to be impressive.
“Pay the price for your own ignorance!”
The Medicine Race young man let out a cold shout, and that immense Spiritual Energy swept forth like a tide, solidifying seemingly into substance, crashing directly toward Qin Yichen.
That momentum was obvious that he intended to completely wipe away Qin Yichen’s consciousness.
“Stop!”
*Boom!* Just as the entire crowd held their breath, a single shout rang out suddenly from somewhere within the crowd.
