Chapter 1110, Li Shan
by SilavinTranslator: Silavin
“Sir, I do apologise, the last upper room has already been taken by this gentleman—”
The middle-aged man dressed as a waiter had begun to answer on reflex, turning around as the words left his mouth, and then his voice simply died.
Standing at the entrance of the inn was a figure so enormously built that it blocked out half the doorway, like an iron tower planted there. The exposed skin of that iron tower had several vicious scars. When he simply stood there, a terrible killing aura rolling off him in unceasing waves. He resembled a peerless Demonic Beast that had wandered inside to see what the fuss was about.
As though he found the waiter’s attitude slightly unsatisfactory, the iron tower of a figure walked straight in without an invitation. With each step he took, the very floorboards seemed to tremble.
“*Siii…* Isn’t that Li Shan of the Giant Spirit Race?”
“What’s he doing here?”
“With his standing, shouldn’t he be able to get into that district over there?”
The commotion quickly drew the attention of numerous people in the hall. When their gazes landed on that tower-like, hulking silhouette, a deep and genuine wariness crept across each of their faces, and a chorus of hushed murmurs rose softly into the air.
“Sir Qin, we should leave first. He is Li Shan of the Giant Spirit Race, and among the younger generation of that Race, he ranks at the very top.” The moment she saw that figure, Mei Ler’s pretty face changed, and she swiftly leaned close to warn Qin Yichen in a low voice.
The Giant Spirit Race, renowned across the continent for their raw, savage strength, with physical bodies of extraordinary toughness, was a First Tier Race of this continent.
“Lord Li Shan… this humble one had eyes but failed to see Mount Tai. I humbly beg your lordship for forgiveness.” The shadow of the great tower fell over him, and the waiter’s expression caved. He clearly recognised the hulking individual before him.
Even knowing that the other party would not actually start a fight inside this establishment, that killing aura aimed squarely at him, was it the sort of thing a mere inn waiter could endure?
Li Shan’s brows drew together as he watched the waiter grovel like a soft-footed prawn. Outside the Myriad Beasts Domain, had he ever stood around listening to someone beg? Not a chance.
If someone had dared to refuse him, he would have dismantled the entire inn by now.
“There’s still one upper room, isn’t there? This Lord will take it!”
Li Shan’s gaze swept the hall. Everywhere his eyes landed, people shrank back and averted their own, not one of them daring to hold his stare. Then his faintly cold voice rang out, laced with a flavour that simply did not entertain the concept of being contradicted. It was impossibly overbearing and domineering.
“Yes, yes, of course…”
Under Li Shan’s murderous aura, the waiter nodded repeatedly, without the slightest flicker of resistance.
As for Qin Yichen and Mei Ler, they were at this moment completely ignored, left to stand there like forgotten furniture.
“Hmm.”
Seeing the waiter’s posture, a trace of disdain flitted through Li Shan’s eyes. He had no wish to lower himself by arguing with a waiter so he barely gave a nod.
Witnessing Li Shan’s demeanour, the onlookers in the hall let out a collective breath. While Li Shan would not likely tear the place down today, if Li Shan flew into one of his rages, they were genuinely afraid of being caught in the aftermath.
“Waiter, I was here first. It is my say over who can stay in this upper room.”
However, just as the crowd had begun to relax, a voice tinged with displeasure rang out.
Immediately, gaze after gaze turned toward the source of the sound, all of them seemingly curious about which individual with no desire to live had chosen to provoke Li Shan.
“Sir…” At the point where all those gazes converged, Mei Ler could not help but bow her head slightly. She had warned Qin Yichen not to provoke Li Shan, yet the latter had clearly not taken the advice to heart.
Anxious, Mei Ler could only stand to one side. She did not dare to intervene and stop Qin Yichen.
After all, she was a sensible person, and she would not stoop to making Qin Yichen lose face at a moment like this. What the latter chose to do was not something she could control.
“My Lord…”
Hearing Qin Yichen’s words, the waiter’s expression immediately crumpled. From Qin Yichen’s bearing and manner, he could see well enough that this was no ordinary person, yet, compared to the formidably renowned Li Shan, he feared the latter.
The waiter’s gaze drifted, as if seeking help, toward the deeper recesses of the inn, where a figure dressed as a manager seemed to be lurking, though, upon noticing the commotion outside, that figure had made no move to come out. Clearly, they had no appetite for a fight with Li Shan.
“Brat, I want the upper room. Do you have an objection?” As the waiter struggled with his predicament, Li Shan’s nearly three-metre frame bent slightly at the waist, a pair of eyes the size of ox-eyes glaring ferociously at Qin Yichen, and a voice packed with threat boomed outward.
The moment this scene unfolded, the entire inn went quietly, all eyes fixed on them.
Li Shan’s fearsome reputation in this region was no joke, and those iron fists claimed no small number of lives. To remain so composed under his aura spoke clearly enough that Qin Yichen was no ordinary figure.
Yet even so, nobody liked his chances.
This was the outer region of the Myriad Beasts City. Who among those coming to stay here could boast a background impressive enough to outweigh Li Shan’s?
By rights, Li Shan ought not to be here lodging in the outer region at all, but then, nobody knew what had brought him here, nor what sort of person could fail to see the situation clearly enough to go and provoke him.
“I do.”
Facing Li Shan’s threat-laden question, under all those watching eyes, Qin Yichen’s face remained perfectly placid, and from his lips dropped two syllables that made every pair of eyes in the room contract slightly.
“Truly a newborn calf does not know the fear of tigers!”
“He just does not know how high Heaven is and how deep the Earth is!”
“Interesting, he actually dares to go against Li Shan. He does have nerves.”
“Heh, on this continent, the bolder you are, the sooner you die!”
Seeing Qin Yichen dare to stand his ground in opposition, cold laughter flickered through more than a few pairs of eyes.
In their eyes, what Qin Yichen was doing was, to put it simply, pure stupidity.
Li Shan alone was a Mid-Stage Martial Ancestor, and relying on his terrifying Physique and his techniques, even a Peak Stage Martial Ancestor might not necessarily be able to say they could beat him in a fight.
And yet, the most fearsome thing about Li Shan was not his own power. It was his background.
He was a Disciple of a mighty expert of the Giant Spirit Race, an expert whose fearsome reputation had already echoed across the continent for thousands of years, and that great expert was, above all else, fiercely protective of his own. This was one of the reasons why Li Shan could be this savage in the region and still live so comfortably.
“Li Shan probably won’t be able to hold himself back!”
In the hall, not a few gazes held a certain gloating delight as they watched. Qin Yichen’s recklessness was going to bring a catastrophe down on his own head.
And sure enough, under all those watching eyes, Li Shan’s expression began to darken.
