Chapter 1111, The Blood Boulder Platform Appointment
by SilavinTranslator: Silavin
The Vast Cloud Wine House.
It enjoyed a decent reputation within Myriad Beasts City. Even here, in the outer region of Myriad Beasts City, it was ordinarily a place buzzing with noise and people.
At this moment, however, the atmosphere inside the Vast Cloud Wine House was suffocating, the complete opposite of its usual liveliness. The entire hall was silent.
All of it was because of the two figures squaring off near the entrance.
Li Shan of the Giant Spirit Race stood over three metres tall, with a body packed so thoroughly with solid muscle that it served as a constant reminder of the terrifying power coiled beneath. One felt that the instant he moved, he would become a machine built purely for slaughter.
Yet facing Li Shan was a figure that bore absolutely no proportion to him.
While Qin Yichen’s build was considered quite excellent by Human Race standards, placed against the giant-like Li Shan, he looked weak.
And yet, despite being wrapped in the tower shadow and murderous aura of a figure like Li Shan, Qin Yichen’s expression had not changed even a fraction. If anything, there was a faint, teasing trace of disdain in his eyes.
A Mid Stage Martial Ancestor of the Giant Spirit Race is someone he truly did not feel the need to waste many more words on.
“Brat, are you tired of living?” Li Shan, however, had no way of knowing what Qin Yichen was thinking. At this moment, he bent his great head down, and the hot air expelled from his nostrils was almost close enough to touch Qin Yichen’s face.
Qin Yichen remained, as ever, perfectly calm. That expression of his made it seem as though Li Shan’s threats were simply not registering as anything worth noticing.
Faced with this silent provocation, Li Shan’s face darkened like still water, his murderous aura surging across his entire body. He looked exactly like a wild lion teetering on the very edge of berserk rage, liable at any moment to explode and tear the slight figure before him to pieces.
“Surely Li Shan isn’t going to start something here?”
“Probably not. Li Shan is fierce, but he’s not brainless. If he starts something here, not even that expert behind him can protect him.”
Hushed murmurs rippled through the hall as people watched Li Shan bristling with murderous aura.
This was Myriad Beasts City. Anyone who dared to start a fight here would, within moments, find their head decorating the city gate. Everyone knew it.
Among the onlookers in the hall, there were quite a few who had been bullied and humiliated by Li Shan in the past. Seeing Li Shan on the back foot like this, they felt deeply, privately pleased.
Though, of course, they did not dare to show it. They were not so reckless as Qin Yichen, and if Li Shan happened to take notice of them, they could dodge him once but not forever, and they might even implicate their own Race in the process.
“You’ve got nerve!”
The standoff stretched on for quite some time.
At last, under all those watching eyes, Li Shan drew in a long breath and slowly pressed that surging fury down.
He knew perfectly well that the rules of Myriad Beasts City were not his to defy. Once he broke the rules of this place, everything he was proud of would be reduced to ash in an instant, and it was not impossible that the entire Giant Spirit Race would find itself dragged into the consequences.
“My nerves are not particularly impressive. I simply have not reached the point where I will allow someone to walk over my face.” Qin Yichen said this coolly, not giving Li Shan even a scrap of face.
“Is that so? In that case, let us follow the rules of Myriad Beasts City.” Li Shan let out a cold laugh, something savage flickering in his eyes.
“Rules?” Qin Yichen’s brow lifted slightly, a flicker of puzzlement crossing his face. It was his first time in Myriad Beasts City, and he had no idea what rules were being referred to.
“Can it be that Li Shan intends to…”
“He surely can’t be unaware of that, right?”
“*Siii!* Just where is he from? He doesn’t know anything, and yet he still dared to square up against Li Shan?”
Li Shan’s words set off a fresh wave of hushed murmurs across the hall, and upon noticing the slight puzzlement on Qin Yichen’s face, more than a few people could not help but let out a quiet snort of laughter.
“I’ll be waiting for you at the Blood Boulder Platform!”
*Hmph!* Li Shan gave a cold snort and turned to leave.
Because, standing here staring at Qin Yichen’s infuriatingly calm face, he could not hold back the urge to put a fist through it, and yet he did not dare to defy the rules of Myriad Beasts City.
So for now, all he could do was swallow his anger and issue this demand.
Blood Boulder Platform was a place not unlike the typical Martial Arts duelling platforms found among the Human Race. While Myriad Beasts City had explicit rules forbidding fighting, some grudges ran deep enough that, when such people crossed paths, it was very difficult to contain their impulses. And so, within Myriad Beasts City, there existed a place that functioned like a stage for duels to take place. Provided both parties agreed, they could go there to settle their differences, and within that place, even if someone was beaten to death, Myriad Beasts City would not intervene or inquire.
“If you enjoy going, go ahead and go. This Young Master has no time to bother with you. Wait until I’ve eaten well and slept well, and then we’ll discuss it.”
And yet, to everyone’s astonishment, Qin Yichen, who had been squaring off with a posture not the slightest bit inferior to his opponent, did not pause even a moment to consider it before flatly refusing.
*Thud!* Li Shan, who had been walking toward the door, stumbled mid-step. He felt a tight pressure in his chest, as though he were on the verge of coughing up a mouthful of blood.
[How shameless! Had he not just been squaring off against me with sky-high bravado? The moment I put forward this demand, he folded?]
*Phew…*
Seeing Qin Yichen refuse, Mei Ler quietly let out a breath of relief.
The Giant Spirit Race was something she feared. Even though the methods Qin Yichen had demonstrated earlier had astonished her, she still did not believe that Qin Yichen, who had thus far only defeated a handful of Early Stage Martial Ancestors, could possibly be a match for Li Shan.
In the inn, the onlookers each wore a different expression.
Some inwardly gave Qin Yichen a quiet nod of approval, deciding that while the fellow was reckless, he was at least not so stupid as to knock an egg against a stone. After all, so long as he remained within the Myriad Beasts Domain for a single day, Li Shan would never dare to touch him while out in the open.
The great majority of onlookers, however, privately felt contempt, and the gazes they directed at Qin Yichen now carried a fair measure of disdain.
Had Qin Yichen agreed on the spot and been beaten to death by Li Shan in the end, they would have said a few words in admiration. But the facts before them now told everyone that, when all was said and done, this fellow was nothing more than someone who could put on a good show with his mouth.
“So, that is all you’ve got?” Li Shan was nearly grinding his teeth, but there was nothing else he could do at the moment, and all that was left to him was to sneer mockingly.
“This Young Master has no interest in dealing with you. If you insist on going, wait until I’ve had a proper rest, and then we’ll see.” Qin Yichen gave an indifferent wave of his hand and walked straight into the inn.
“I’m giving you one day. Tomorrow at noon, the Blood Boulder Platform!” Seeing Qin Yichen’s shameless behaviour, Li Shan gave a cold snort and stormed away with a sweep of his sleeve. At the doorway he still seemed unable to let it go entirely, and his foot came down hard *crack* driving a deep imprint into the solid floorboards, while the inn itself shuddered heavily behind him.
Words said in anger, as far as Qin Yichen was concerned, appeared to have been heard by no one, for he walked straight inside and settled the fee for his lodging.
