The moment that shout reached him, a distinctly unusual expression surfaced in the eyes of the Medicine Race young man facing Qin Yichen. One that made it quite clear the person who had spoken inspired in him a very deep measure of wariness.

Even so, by this point it was quite beyond his ability to stop himself.

That surging Spiritual Energy assault had already launched toward Qin Yichen, and with the arrow already loosed from the bow, halting it was simply no longer possible.

    *Siiii!*

And yet, in that instant of distraction, the vast wall of Spiritual Energy before him was abruptly torn apart. A condensed, razor-sharp spear of Spiritual Energy, like a blade, ripped through his attack cleanly, and without losing a shred of momentum, came hurtling directly toward him.

    “What!?”

Perceiving this sudden development, the Medicine Race young man’s face flooded with utter, incredulous shock.

Their Medicine Race possessed Spiritual Energy that was innately superior to that of other Races, and even among Alchemy Masters of equivalent rank, their Spiritual Energy was far more concentrated and solid than that of any other Race.

And yet his Spiritual Energy, the very thing in which he took such immense pride, had been torn apart as easily as a sheet of thin paper. How could he not be stunned?

    *Thud!*

Beneath that spear of Spiritual Energy, sharp as any blade, the young man sensed an extraordinarily dangerous wave. Beneath this attack, it was as if even the Spiritual Body within his Knowledge Sea felt a bone-deep, creeping chill.

His complexion turned pale. His feet, acting entirely of their own accord, stumbled backwards several steps, landing him precisely at the platform’s edge, where one foot met empty air and he tumbled off with spectacular lack of grace.

Meanwhile, that spear of Spiritual Energy, having torn through his massive assault, came screaming toward him at terrific speed.

    “No! Please!”

Confronted with that Spiritual Energy attack, the young Medicine Race man found he could not even muster the Will to resist. He was utterly terrified. If his Spiritual Body were destroyed, no quantity of Miracle Pills within the Medicine Race could restore it.

And without a Spiritual Body, he would be a completely useless wretch. The Medicine Race would absolutely not squander precious medicines on the likes of him.

Watching him in that thoroughly dishevelled state, the entire scene grew remarkably still.

No one could quite work out what had happened. How had someone who had been so full of murderous intent just a breath or two ago ended up in such an undignified heap?

Yet even before his pleading gaze, that Spiritual Energy assault showed not the slightest intention of stopping.

    *Hmph!*

Just as an expression of despair began to bloom across the young man’s face, a single cold harrumph rang out, and a figure appeared suddenly in the space between them.

    *Bang!*

A faint, soft sound rang sharply through the surrounding space. An instant later, an invisible tempest swept outward in all directions.

“Hmm?” At this moment, even on the platform where he stood, a trace of surprise crossed Qin Yichen’s eyes. He turned a distinctly attentive gaze toward the figure who had appeared across from him.

There, a young man dressed in white robes stood tall and composed. The small cauldron etched upon his sleeve proclaimed his distinguished identity.

Compared to the Medicine Race members who had been mocking Qin Yichen moments before, this young man possessed an aura that felt several degrees more settled. His face was impassive, yet the gaze fixed upon Qin Yichen carried a cold, piercing quality.

“Oh? Even he has come out?”

“Well, well, it seems that boy has more than negligible Spiritual Energy after all.”

From a high balcony at a considerable distance, Jin Mi and Qing Luan had been keeping a steady eye on the Medicine Market. This commotion had naturally drawn their attention almost immediately.

Upon seeing that suddenly appearing figure, a trace of surprise surfaced on their faces as well.

“It appears the Medicine Race intends to establish their authority.”

“Of course. If even he has stepped out, then naturally that is the intention.”

    “That is… Yao Jie!”

“Heavens, how has even he been disturbed?”

“I hear he is the finest prodigy within the Medicine Race’s younger generation for the last hundred years. He had already reached Peak Earth Grade several years ago. By now, he has almost certainly broken through to the Heaven Grade.”

The moment that figure appeared, a wave of clamour erupted throughout the densely packed crowd of the Medicine Market.

Numerous cultivators looked toward that figure with expressions of reverence. Without exception, they were certain the man would one day become a supremely powerful existence within the Medicine Race. And when that day came, who could say how many Top Tier Races would lower themselves to court his favour?

“Boy, did you not hear me say ‘stop’ just now?”

Yao Jie fixed Qin Yichen with a hard stare. His voice, when it came, carried a distinct chill.

Only then did the crowd realise that the ‘stop’ Yao Jie had called out earlier had not been directed at the Medicine Race youth at all. It had been directed at this boy, who to all appearances had come to peddle nonsense.

Could it truly be that the Medicine Race young man’s thoroughly undignified state had been forced upon him by this boy?

The thought sent a wave of astonishment rippling through the onlookers, which was almost immediately replaced by a particular shade of pity directed at Qin Yichen.

Within the territories of the Myriad Beasts Domain, if one absolutely had to offend either the Medicine Race or some other Top Tier Race, and there was any choice in the matter at all, virtually no one would choose to offend the Medicine Race.

The Medicine Race’s overall combat strength left something to be desired, yet the Forces standing behind them were of a magnitude that was hard to describe.

And Yao Jie, moreover, was the most outstanding member of the Medicine Race’s current younger generation. His words were ones that virtually no one dared to defy.

Yao Jie had already called for a stop, and yet Qin Yichen had acted anyway. This was, by any measure, a direct challenge to Yao Jie himself.

“Your voice was just too quiet. I didn’t hear you.” Under the weight of those countless gazes, Qin Yichen simply shrugged his shoulders and spoke with perfect ease, as if nothing had happened.

That manner of his carried not the faintest shade of respect toward Yao Jie, and frankly, if not for the sheer number of onlookers, he appeared to have been considering not even bothering to explain himself.

“Is he looking to die? Does he not even know Yao Jie’s name?”

“Ha, it would rather seem that way.”

“No wonder he dared come to the Medicine Market peddling nonsense. Turns out he’s some Junior who doesn’t know anything.”

Watching Qin Yichen’s manner, countless onlookers shook their heads privately and regarded him with expressions of undisguised amusement.

“Yao Jie, there may be some misunderstanding here!”

To one side, Xiang Linzi gritted his teeth, steeled himself, stepped forward, and addressed Yao Jie with the most respectful of postures.

“This is none of your business. Step aside.”

Yet for Xiang Linzi, scion of the First Tier Giant Elephant Race, Yao Jie did not even spare a glance. A single, utterly pitiless remark was issued coldly from his lips.

At those words, Xiang Linzi’s face cycled through several interesting shades of red. He was, after all, a figure of no small standing within the Giant Elephant Race. He had come to the Myriad Beasts City carrying the hope of his Race, seeking to catch the eye of a Supreme Expert.

Yet even if indignation churned within him, before Yao Jie, he did not dare let a single trace of it show.

“Don’t worry. I’ll handle this myself.”

In the midst of Xiang Linzi’s awkward predicament, Qin Yichen’s voice offered him a quiet and convenient way out.
