Chapter 1137, Qing Luan’s Invitation
by SilavinTranslator: Silavin
These words caused the expressions of quite a few people to shift.
If Qin Yichen’s Pills truly had that sort of effect, then this refusal was, without question, extraordinarily welcome news for all of them.
Yet even so, people could not help but feel a creeping worry on Qin Yichen’s behalf.
One had to understand, the person he had just refused was Qing Luan, of the Heaven Devouring Green Marten Race!
This was, without question, an act of disrespect towards one of the Top Tier Races.
Moreover, these Top Tier Races were nothing like the Medicine Race, who still observed various social niceties. When confronted with someone who openly defied their wishes, they would not concern themselves with face or propriety in the slightest, and would absolutely bring devastating retribution down upon the offender, and even upon whatever Race stood behind them.
Sure enough, when Qing Luan heard the refusal, his expression darkened somewhat. His brow furrowing lightly.
“Brother Qin, I wonder how many you would be willing to sell to me.” Yet after quite a long pause, the furious outburst everyone had mentally braced for never arrived. Instead, Qing Luan seemed to lower his posture and ask, in an almost enquiring tone.
Upon seeing Qing Luan’s manner, the crowd froze as one.
Qing Luan was actually lowering himself like this?
*Hmm…* Qin Yichen appeared to mull it over for a brief moment, then spoke with an entirely earnest expression. “One hundred per year, I guess.”
“One hundred!?” Hearing that figure, Qing Luan’s expression could not help but shift again.
Even accounting for the fact that their Heaven Devouring Green Marten Race was relatively few in number, one hundred per year was far, far too little.
“Brother Qin, I wonder if we might speak somewhere more private.” After a long moment, Qing Luan frowned lightly and spoke in a low voice.
“Ler’er, sell them as we discussed earlier. Brother Li Shan, Brother Xiang, and the others may be given a little extra leeway.” Qin Yichen smiled towards Mei Ler, then gave a small nod in the direction of Li Shan and the rest.
“Sir, rest assured, Ler’er will not disappoint you.”
“Leave it to us, Brother Qin. Nothing will go wrong here!”
Mei Ler and Li Shan and the others all nodded in affirmation.
Even Qing Luan was addressing Qin Yichen as ‘Brother’, and Li Shan and the others suddenly felt that their own form of address had somehow elevated their own standing considerably.
Before them now, a vast sea of people stretched in every direction, faces alight with barely-contained eagerness. It was plain to see that countless individuals were desperate to get their hands on these Pills.
Having already convinced the crowd of the Pills’ authenticity, the work ahead, while still rather busy, was comparatively far simpler by this point.
“What a curious young man. But his identity…” As Qin Yichen and Qing Luan departed, a lone figure hovering high above the Myriad Beasts City slowly withdrew its gaze.
Yet rather than leaving, this figure remained where it was, seemingly lost in thought, even its brow unable to resist furrowing ever so slightly.
…
Moments later, within a stately manor situated in the inner region of Myriad Beasts City.
This place was the residence that the Heaven Devouring Green Marten Race had purchased within the Myriad Beasts City, and it was here that Qing Luan had led Qin Yichen to.
The guards stationed at the entrance had initially moved to intercept Qin Yichen, but upon observing the manner in which Qing Luan treated him, those same guards wisely stepped back.
Someone Qing Luan treated with such regard was plainly a person of extraordinary standing, hardly the sort these mere guards could afford to offend.
“Brother Qin, I wonder exactly how many of those Pills you actually have?”
Upon entering the sitting room, once refreshments had been ordered and all other personnel dismissed, Qing Luan turned to Qin Yichen with barely concealed impatience.
“Not many…” Qin Yichen frowned a little. While he was perfectly capable of refining large quantities at any time, what he had to plan ahead was the ability to sell to the entire continent.
Even selling only one hundred per Race per year, the cumulative total across every Race would add up to a figure staggering enough to make one’s scalp tingle.
Were he to refine them all on his own, no matter how swift the speed, he would likely have no time left for anything else whatsoever.
At this moment, Qin Yichen found himself with an increasingly urgent desire to see the Soaring Joy Chamber of Commerce develop rapidly under Mei Ler.
Once the Soaring Joy Chamber of Commerce had established a reasonable foothold across the continent, he could look into sourcing supply from the Human Race’s branch of it, or recruiting Alchemy Masters from within.
Seeing Qin Yichen’s expression, Qing Luan found himself with something of an understanding.
Across the continent, there had never been anything resembling universal Pills usable by every Race. Even within the Medicine Race, every Alchemy Master was a coveted prize fought over by the Major Races.
And Pills like the ones he had personally sampled, offering several distinct effects all at once, were something he had never so much as heard of before. Once word spread, it would send shockwaves across the entirety of the continent.
It was not difficult to imagine that any Race with even a modest degree of foundation would come clamouring to purchase these Pills. When that time came and the market grew to such enormous proportions, even the Medicine Race would likely be stretched thin trying to keep up.
“However, I have a few other varieties of Pills here that I have not yet begun selling to the wider public. If Brother Qing Luan needs them, I could arrange to sell a small quantity to you separately.”
Qin Yichen paused, then said as much.
“What? There are more?” At these words, Qing Luan’s pupils contracted sharply, the shock on his face utterly unconcealed.
“*Heh heh*, I would ask that Brother Qing Luan keep this between us for the time being.” Qin Yichen chuckled softly. With a turn of his palm, he produced two jade bottles, each containing a different variety of Pill.
“Brother Qin is too polite, that goes without saying!” A glimmer of sharp light passed through Qing Luan’s eyes, and his manner towards Qin Yichen warmed by several more degrees.
At this moment, however, he did not move to examine the effects of these Pills. The latter was being so secretive about them that they were almost certainly no worse than what he had already witnessed.
For now, what mattered most was drawing closer to Qin Yichen himself.
“Brother Qin, was selling these Pills truly the only purpose of your visit to Myriad Beasts City?”
After a bit of casual conversation, Qing Luan asked in a probing tone, affecting the air of someone merely joking.
“What does Brother Qing Luan think?”
Qin Yichen gave a light chuckle rather than answering directly.
“Ha ha! It seems Brother Qin has also come on account of Lord Mo Sheng’s matter!” Qing Luan said this without any reservation whatsoever, and indeed, not even a flicker of the wariness one might expect towards a rival appeared on his face.
“I too heard only by chance that he is seeking a Disciple.” Qin Yichen’s thoughts stirred faintly. Smiling, he said, “Brother Qing Luan, my understanding of this matter is rather limited. Would you be willing to tell me more about it?”
“This time, he is taking on a Disciple at the Martial Ancestor Realm, given that those who have already reached the Saint Realm are essentially set in their ways and no longer worth moulding. So, every Race across the continent with even a reasonable degree of access to information has sent promising youths rushing here. From what I have encountered in my time here alone, quite a number of them are from Top Tier Races as well.”
Qing Luan spoke freely in response to Qin Yichen’s question, holding nothing back from what he knew.
